- With a full day of the 2024 Nuremberg Toy Fair under our belts, Tamiya have revealed some epic new RC kits, some tasty rereleases, and some even tastier re-rereleases. Can I borrow a few bucks? I need to go shopping!

That truck driver figure doesn't look salty or crotchety enough to be driving a big rig. Needs a "Show me your hooters t-shirt", sweat stained ball cap, greasy gloves, a high-viz vest from 3 jobs ago, worn boots and "trucker bomb" mountain dew bottle! (I speak from experience, been herding truck drivers for 31 years.
That one deserves a pin! Lol! -- I thought the driver looked like "vegetable lasagna." Remember him? The Seinfeld episode when Elaine and Puddy are on the airplane fighting? I tried incorporating him into the video, but had to cut him out, I couldn't make it work. Hahaha.

Hi Fil, great presentation, dude! For me, I find the BT-01 interesting, I'd like to find out more about that one and maybe get one in my collection, it seems like a "grown up" version of the M-chassis series! The XM01 Pro is way too expensive for my liking, I'll stick to the cheaper kits thanks, same obviously for the TRF offerings. Talking of cheaper, the Manta Ray is going to be less than £145 in the UK, a bargain and the one I want the most out of this new batch. Stay excellent, bro! 😎😎👍👍

Those are all absolute icon trucks and I'm sure they'd be huge sellers! Especially since all things scale is so popular right now.
i’ll just be completely honest. the MB-01 and BT-01 have to be Tamiyas most ugliest chassis ever made.. more ugly than the Vintage TB-01 chassis which was a tank of a car. so complex looking, so much molding lines and unnecessary detail.
i’m waiting for the MX-01, going to throw on the XV-02 aluminum spur mount, damper stay, and aluminum steering and call it a day. that thing is NICE 👍

i’m disappointed Tamiya never released a TC-01R or TC-01Pro.. during the “lock down” that was the coolest chassis released! but the kit was $275, and it needed another $300 on top ($575 Total) to get it properly hopped up. an R version for $300 would’ve been a great seller. even better than the regular bare bones kit from 2020.
Agreed it's a very cool chassis. We don't hear much about them these days, do we? They're very nice.
The BT01 is a 1/10 lonnger version of the MB01.. centre chassis section is longer and the arms might be wider to match more 1/10 scales as most M series cars are more 1/12th
CC02 is not returning as it is a current model. just now issued with the 1973 Bronco body. And what is a XM01 ?
I don't know much about the XM01 just yet. Guys have commented that it's in the M-chassis family, so it's a smaller footprint. But apparently the cost is going to be quite high.
Clod rerelease….its still on the shelf at my LHS from last time. Tamiya how about a Jugg 2 or Agrios

They need to do a CC02 Jeep Wrangler and the beautiful Terra Conqueror. The Conqueror is in my opinion a cooler buggy than the TF. It had a great motor in it, beefier rodlinks and a nicer body.
And the Terra Conqueror came on the same chassis as the TF and Manta Ray, didn't it? It's a great looking buggy, I'm with ya on that one. 😉
I love the manta ray and top force. I have the 2017 and 2018 versions and then I donated a kidney for the top force and have every carbon upgrade, hi caps and other parts only for the evo to be released a year later 🥷 didn’t really see anything from Tamiya that is worth going nuts for. I got some LC racing cars to build and they have been superb.
Ah, I bet that CF Top Force is a thing of beauty. Worth every penny and every organ donated to the cause. 😆
Maybe I should finished building my Clod Buster Black edition now that's it's been rereleased 🤣

Not over mad with what came out, the DS does look cool but like you said for a shelf. The Kadet is nice but a lot of money here £150. RE-issues nothing new so not much there and the CC02 Bronco nice but would love the Wrangler to come back. The GF02 Squash Van what a good release for me that was.
The Squash Van was such a home run. Same with the BBX. 2023 was a good year. 👍🏻

Xm-01 looks really cool for sure. Love that Tamiya makes proper rally chassis. M chassis wheelbase tends to be 210 225 and 239mm can I assume this will be the case for this chassis?
That's what the popular consensus is. M-chassis size, XV02 chassis look. But the price tag is a little on the steep side... 😳
These are some interesting kits. I wish Tamiya would bring back the Jaggernaut monster trucks. I've always wanted one, but didn't get my hands one one.

The XM-01 ist a Mini Chassis, so no Lancia Integrale body will fit....
I thought it looked a lot bigger than an M-chassis, but maybe I'm wrong? 🤔

Hey Fil, great video brother! Here at OAG Towers we are planning on a Manta Ray because I love it and have been trying to hunt one down NIB for two years!!
I was on the fence about the Clod Buster Black but decided against it for another year.
The Top Force would have been on my list if I hadn’t recently built the Top Force Evo.
Why no new buggies from Tamiya though? I was really hoping for another model or two on the TD chassises but I think Tamiya are going to ditch them!
I would love to see the Super Astute back for another rerererelease and the Dyna Storm. Also would be super cool to see a Zahhak! Come on Tamiya 🤪
I would really enjoy watching a Clod Buster smash moles at the OR! Hahaha! But I've got a feeling Tamiya might be planning to drop a few surprises on us later in the year. Dyna Storm would be SO amazing!!! 🤩

I didn't realize the XM-01 Pro was based off the M-chassis platform. It looked so much bigger to me in the videos I saw. But you're 100% right, thanks for the heads up!
Good call on the TC body on the Manta Ray. If the TC tires are the same as the CC01/CC02 stock tires (they look very similar, if my memory serves correct) I've got a bunch of them you can have. 👊🏼

In all honesty I was a tad disappointed personally..... I'm trying to keep my collection as streamlined as possible these days!
The XM01 and BT01 definitely look very interesting though, and I would like to learn more about them.
I'm more of a vintage kinda nerd, 83 to 93 being my preference.
Hotshot 2 is a great car, though would probably go with the
supershot instead if I were to choose.
Love the Black edition Clod, but already own two clods.... and as you know, they take up a LOT of space!
I have a certain amount of sentimental nostalgia over the Manta Ray, but already own a Top force, and Top force evo..... which are obviously a similar car, just better!
So, I think my Tamiya tokens will be going to Kyosho this year..... as they have so many cool kits in their legendary series that I don't yet own.
I'm preying hard Tamiya will finally give us the King Cab and Monster racer again..... and I would sell my own mother for a re re of the BMW 318 STW on the TA02 platform, just can't find a mint one of those anywhere for love nor money!
But, it's great to see Tamiya bashing out some new and old releases....

I'm really intrigued by all these new modular rally car chassis' Tamiya is releasing. I want to get my hands on them all and compare... Multiple wheelbase options, motor location options, front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, what the heck is going on here? How do they design these things??? Lol!

I think the BT-01 is the 'TT-02 replacement' or long wheelbase MB-01.
XM-01 is the short wheelbase version of the XV-02?
There are definitely similarities between the MB01 and BT01, and I think you're right, the BT01 is a longer, but as versatile MB01. The XM01 does appear to be a shortened wheelbase XV02, but the price tag is waaaay up there, so I'm not too sure why that is? 😳
It’s worth to note, the Manta Ray was the forefather the TA series 01,02 chassis, stadium truck, buggies configurations and pro style buggies Top Force and Top Force Evo. Now I know what I’m spending my tax refund on 😊

Citroën DS: "I don't know what you can really do in terms of RC'ing with this thing ..." How about building a makeshift ride-height-mechanism ... that's what the ID and DS was famous for! If Tamiya (and some other manufacturers too) would finally learn how to eliminate the visible mount posts and body clips. There are a lot of manufacturers who show that it is possible to mount a body shell to a chassis without these ugly "eighties-style" solutions to fasten a body to the chassis! But I assume it's cheaper to poke a hole in the body and run a body post through.
It's a real shame seeing the old school body posts sticking out of an elegant vehicle like this. 😭
I was most excited about the Manta Ray coming back. I knew about the HS2 and Top Force already so now surprises there but I will be getting those as well! I am bit worried with their change to these multipurpose chassis like the MB01 and the BT01 that they will do good right away but for builders like me it will get dull and boring after a while as it will become the new TT02 where it is all the same underneath with just a new body on top. I can see them trying to slim down their lineup and going to fewer chassis options and just making new bodies all the time on the same old chassis over and over. I hope not but as long as the keep the re-re kits coming I will be happy!
I hear what you're saying, Addam. The BT01 looks like it's this universal chassis, designed to be built forwards, backwards, sideways, with rear steering knuckles but no rear steering... Aaah, what the hell am I looking at, and what do they plan on doing with this bizarre chassis?!?! 😳
I wish they would come back out with the king black foot.That truck was so much fun.It's like the Blackfoot truck.They're fun too but the king blackfoot was just a little bit bigger and a lot more fun

There some great new products coming out. I wish they would do a Nissan 180SX so I can replicate my car in Australia though I will buy that NSX or the new Motul Z ❤
That NSX is soooo sexy! Motel Z is a beauty, too, but beware the decals! Hahaha. I think the Motul body I did for the Speed Run Challenge had something like 114 decals on it??? 😳

That's part of the Tamiya appeal; interesting new stuff from time to time (about time! :p ) and the evergreens that never seem to run out: which is good. real vintage is nice, but paying top money for old brittle plastic is kind of silly when the prices reach into the 4 figures
You said it! Why would I pay $1500 for a bowtie Clod off ebay with flat tires, and the lingering odor of 40 years of cigarette smoke from somebody's basement, when I can buy a brand new one for $400? 😆😆😆
Manta Ray is another one where people seem to like it or hate it lol. The Clod Buster is growing on me why🤣. I mean I’ve never really liked it for unknown reasons and I want to continue on disliking it but I can’t 😂

love seeing the clod still being made, i have 2 80's versions plus 2 stock 'super' in box re-release versions in my collection i wish they would do a proper retro with the original stickers
I really like the semi trucks and trailers and that's about it from this company.
They are amazing pieces of RC work. I have yet to own one, but I could see them being very nice to own.
it'll be very interesting that's for sure when everything comes to market. speaking of the semi's, that was my first Tamiya build! I build a Knight Hauler/trailer combo as a tribute truck to my dad since that's what he did for a living. Took me a while, but it's complete (minus some custom stickers and trying to figure out the sound kit). You should get one as a one off build. You will be totally satisfied! Cheers pal. As for Tamiya, I'm probably alone on this one, but to me this is pretty uninteresting. Well, first of all, how do they beat themselves with that stunt last year with the BBX? That was such a cool launch, they didn't tell anyone, and then they just had it there!
Only one of all the listed ones I'd be interested in would be the Top Force, but I have three of those already, so I guess I skip the hype this time, ha ha...

Thanks for the excellent comment, Mads. I've been toying with the idea of presenting new RC finds throughout the year, and the Nuremberg fair video was the first video of this nature, and it's a hit! I'm actually quite surprised at how successful this video is. It's a strong indicator that creating content like this and stepping away from the day to day can be a good thing. Xm 01 looks like hex screws so thats good. Them trucks, I think tamiya is missing a trick doing them 1/14 scale as I would happily make a 1/10 with a car transporter trailer to show some of my cars on. So much so I am intending designing and 3d printing my own. Bt01 supra I think I will be buying. Purely as its a new chassis to play with.
I like your transporter idea, I'd like to see that when you're done with it! As for the BT-01, it's going to be worth a buy (aren't they all?), but I'm really curious what Tamiya has up their sleeve with it. With so many configurations available, my mind is really racing.
@poorboysrc the truck and trailer is in my queue as I'm currently building a ferris wheel that's about 2ft across the wheel (so taller after it's on its legs), then I am doing a custom drag chassis for my 68 mustang fastback shell using the rear wheels from an associated dr10 and some other drivetrain hardware on a custom chassis plate, then maybe the truck but that will be a full ground up design and build. All while I have the xv01 for a racing puma shell which I am going to make an updated version of a classic touring car from thr 80s and the mf01x beetle. Maybe throw in the supra if it's out when I have done the other tamiya kits . Also (as if that wasn't enough) several other fairground ride ideas I have buzzing round my head.

As for the way I pronounce Tamiya, I really don't know if it's "right" or "wrong." I hear it pronounced differently all over the world, so I just pronounce it the way I feel is correct. 🤗

Totally agree on the Citroen - that thing just looks so classy driving around. That’s on my list just because of the body alone! Echo what you said about owning a ClodBuster. I had an original one in the mid 90s and they are just a blast to drive.

Do Tamiya ever link ups with Ferrari rally cars? Specifically the Ferrari 308 GTB Gr.4 rally cars built by Michelotto.
Great question! I don't think they've done any Ferrari rally cars, but I'm certain they've got Ferrari F1 cars in their lineup. If Italian cars is what youre after, The Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA came out this year, and they've also got a sweet Lancia Delta Integrale body on the TT02 which is amazing!

I already have the Lancia Delta on the XV01 chassis and 037 Rally on TA02S… but thank you for the suggestion and reply.

Honda Prelude from the late 80's would be a nice bodyset for the BT01 if 4 wheel steering is an option.

The best they have is the CC02 and CR01. Neither will compete with a TRX4, SCX10, etc... But are still tons of fun!

Man I wish they would do a re-release of the tamiya s10 4x4 stadium truck I can't even find one used an if I did someone has ruined it by painting it the wrong color.
Fingers crossed they bring it back at some point. Seems like all the oldies are getting a reboot at some time down the line. 😉👊🏼
@poorboysrc right back in 85 my dad bought me one an don't know what happened to it an been looking for one for ever joined tamiya vintage club and can't find one there either I have my original black foot an extreme blackfoot an my king blackfoot but need the s10 to add to my vintage collection.

XM-01 Pro is definitely on my build list, should work great with a couple of my existing bodies. Seems to be able to be configured to the three wheelbases of the existing M series line up.
Yeah it looks pretty rad, I'm very interested to check it out. I hope the price point isn't too bad.

@@poorboysrc For comparison the XV-02 Pro over here is £319 which is kinda similar as a rally style chassis but fixed wheelbase. I'd expect the XM-01 Pro to have a lot of similar components, looking by the photos at least.

Lots of automatics and a ton of quarts ones with the 8040n movement. A lot people rag on Invicta, however, if you buy the right watch you can get a great timepiece!
@@vigilanterc I love my Invicta's! I don't care much about brand names, etc... I like what I like, and I'm a budget conscious buyer. Invicta makes a nice watch, they have fun designs, and I love 'em! Haha. I have many of them, they rock!
Hey Fil, nice round up my friend. Looks wise I'm liking that Citroen. Hard to keep up with all the new road and rally chassis that Tamiya are making. Tamiya wise I think the one I'd get next isn't one of these and is the Squash Van because it looks great and it's the type of thing I think Tamiya does best. Anyway plenty here to keep us busy. The new rally car definitely has appeal the clod I would buy for sure was hoping for a king cab instead we got the manta not keen to be honest definitely marmite that one the new BT01 I think would make a great car park drifter 😊

Hey Fil, from what I’ve seen the BT01 is the extended touring chassis of the MB01 which has slop galore. I believe too could be wrong the XM01 is similar to the XV02 but incorporates M parts to make it a M chassis. I’d like to get a Top force. Already have the Neo Top Force and the Evo
This whole BT01, MB01 and XM01 interchangeability fiasco is making my head spin. Lol. I need to get all three chassis' in front of me to co.pare them all.

That CC02 Bronco is something ill be looking at, ive got tabs open with a place to buy that body and the cheapest cc02 i can get so ill probably just hold off to get the kit instead :)
