Wow! I just fell in love with Mysore (Mysuru) from watching your video Jason! I love the architecture, the Palace, and the more 'laid back' feel of the city! I want to definitely visit Mysore!
The markets are so lovely as are the official buildings. The noise level would drive me crazy! It is interesting seeing cows roaming around the streets. It seems very busy, even at night.
Hi Jayson, India spent a week in Bangalore 2013 done some tenders for Amazon even back then what was the financial district was amazing, offices buildings hotels were so clean it was unbelievable, the people ultra friendly pubs were great, as i am a curry lover got to say the taste and flavours totally different to what i was used too back in the UK great videos thank you.
I like the fact that you have always done your homework and have lots of facts to share. I don't understand the popularity of some of the big travel bloggers who just walk around and talk to a few locals, will eat something they don't have a clue about, just because another travel blogger did it, and got lots of views. To prove my point, let me give you an example of one of these very popular vloggers, named Luke. He visited a beautiful huge palace perched on a mountain top in India, but had no clue about the place??? He said he couldn't pronounce the name and didn't bother trying either. He then refused to pay the entrance fee because he claimed he was being 'cheated' because India charges more for foreigners than locals to visit these sites. Most of these vloggers do not understand that it costs a lot of money to maintain these sites. The Indian government invests a lot money, which is really the money that locals have paid in taxes. So the locals have paid their fair share towards the cost of maintaining these attractions. (This is the same thing as when an Indian student goes to university in the UK, USA or Australia. They pay three times the fees of a local. And again the same argument holds true, a lot of tax money in these countries goes towards maintaining the universities). But all these travel folk offer nothing, they just walk around these places, like The Walking Dead, with absolutely no clue of the history or the any background information to share. What baffles me is that have so many subscribers??? And maybe I am missing something?? Just a simple Google search could have provided them with all the interesting facts not just for themselves but for their viewers. Unfortunately for a lot of them, they are solely doing it for the views, which is sad. They are going to regret it, later in life. It is clear you have a passion for travel which an inspiration for others to follow. Thank you for doing your research and always providing a lot of substance in their videos. It is clear traveling is in your blood. Keep up the great work in making not just entertaining but also very informative videos! Bravo!! ps..sorry, for the long essay.
Thanks Dan. It’s nice to be appreciated for this - though I wouldn’t do it any other way. I feel it’s my responsibility to know what I’m talking about (or at least make an effort to learn). I enjoy that process too. Without any idea travelling to these place would be stale, with no context.
You are right brother. They do all that drama and still get a lot of Subscribers. The main reason behind this is the mentality of Indians (most of them, not everyone). They tend to appreciate foreigners who are critical of India's situation. This is all due to the Pro-colonial narrative that is being fed to them from their childhood.
I like your video of Mysore. I like your laid back, non judgmental approach to your commentary. India is a country of paradoxes. Yes the honking, and the crowded places annoy lot of people! The thing with India is that you either love it or hate it. The locals are not bothered!!
Hey again Jason looks like a lot of fun there Mysore and lots of energy and movement. I like the antiquity of the city and especially at the evening golden hour when everything lights up. Thanks again for all your hard work its greatly appreciated . Cheers and Peace I love Indian Food too.
A very nice video. I was bought up in mysuru. Its a must visit city during dusherra festival or navratri. The entire city would be litup. I love my city ❤
The Wodayar royal family still controls the palace. The 10 day dasara festival is the main festival of Mysore in which the palace and city will be illuminated. The royal family does not have any political powers but respected by the people as they are part of several cultural and religious ceremonies
mysuru is a very spiritual place. it is the birthplace of Sadhguru most famous Guru in the world. Jason billiam also seems to be spiritual soft spoken gentleman just like typical South Indian men.
i would love it if you could talk a bit about the connection of mysuru and yoga and maybe interview some people that are studying yoga there, that would be amazing! this video was a really nice introduction to the city
I often wished, dating back to 2010 or so, that I could visit Myore aka Mysuru, I guess, that I could visit an ashram or take Ashtanga in the yoga district, as you called it there, with the old Sri Pattabhi Jois (now deceased). I caught the yoga bug here in Philly when the 'scene' was at its prime. Vinyasa Flow, though. Ashtanga does have a school here, but it is a bit expensive.
Hello Bro ❤️🔥 as I moved for a job in Dubai. I am from six months here in Dubai. I was missing my city. Thank you for showing me that beauty Mysore. Love you bro. Lots of love
I am headed to Bengaluru next month and am really enjoying your journey through India! I don't know if you have covered this. But, how do people feel about you filming/photographing in the streets? Is there any rules and etiquette you recommend following in this part of India. I have seen you avoid faces where possible ( this is always good. Anything else you would suggest?
The Mysuru city layout and planning and main buildings were built by Raja Wodeyar. Its not done by citizens ! The average Mysurean is not that smart .Raja Wodeyar did it. He deserves full credit 😮
I'd say that grabbing street food anywhere in India, is not the wisest thing to do. The chances of getting sick are very high, as we travelers to India, several times over, know.

Just a point Mysuru is not famous for curries, the vegetarian food variety is great here.
Mysore has some rich history of our country, thankyou for sharing it

Great video. One of the things i noticed was how many men walk around with no shoes on. Thats not a judgement rather an observation
I think there could be a temple or ritual in which people have to walk bare foot.
