Of course, we can close our eyes and listen to music and be taken away to another place. That said, our surroundings do play a part in our music listening experience. I've been working on decluttering my listening room to create a more relaxing place where music can be enjoyed. I think you have nailed a great vibe here. This is the kind of place I'd love to hang out.
Nice video and great job on your jazz kissa. Look's awesome! Definitely looks like a nice place to slip away to and enjoy some vinyl bliss. I've recently been watching a lot of Japanese Jazz content and the cool Jazz spots around the country as well. Which led me to finding your video along my journey down the "UA-cam rabbit hole". Lol! Cheers! 1-)
I enjoyed the setup. Fun and relaxing at the same time, with a little eye candy to boot! Vintage 70`s Yamaha wood cover CA-CR would go with your room and bar. 🍻
Proud of you Bob! Bar is bad ass. I turned my brother in St Pete Florida on to your channel. He has an office in his house and a pile or audio equipment like you…. I’m sure he is inspired. If a membership card finds it’s way to me I won’t take it for granted ha
Ive yet to have visited the 2 places in austin --prob because it is a 60 mile drive AND I have a great listening room in a 10X12 space that I cant pry myself away from.. McIntosh, sonusfabers, rythmik subs, mytek dac, sonore streamer, EAT turntable, and even tape decks. But your place looks great. Your channel just appeared in my feed and I thought well lets see what this cat has to say about audiophile records. Had to google to see who you were..lol. The radio station I know of course, but if I listen to FM it will more n likely be KSHE 95 via Roon.
Jazz Kissa means Jazz Cafe. It started around 1920 in Japan when they started coffee bars that played jazz. Then it stopped during the WW2 and started again after WW2 when there was a lot of Americans in Japan. Today most Jazz Kissa serve coffee, beer and whisky and sometimes have some very simple food. Please notice that a Jazz Kissa only plays jazz and always one whole lp side at a time (or half of a CD). A classic Japanese tea house is called Ghaya prononced "Jaya". In Sweden "Kissa" means "Pee" so if I set up a Jazz Kissa in Sweden I would rather call it JAZZ JAYA or JAZZ GHAYA.
That's very cool - nicely done! A fitting home for the vintage gear. I've never been to a Jazz Kissa, but here's a fun fact: "Kissaten" means coffee shop in Japanese (and I've been to a few of those).
Bob what is the name of shelves in the middle with the liquor and martini glasses in it. Is that Kallax as well? Looks different. Working on mine now. Thanks
What is he center portion of you back wall? (The wine glass hanging part with the wine rack). Not Kallax. I want to create a wall similar to yours in the loft of my lake house on PK Lake. Beautiful job! Very inspiring!
My wife found those two metal and wood bar cabinets with wine storage underneath on Wayfair. We got 2 and just slammed them together! Thanks for watch and good luck creating your space!
@@UnitedStatesofAnalog More so,l than how-to build video, I’d need a “how to convince your partner to turn her WFH office into a kissa!” 2 bedroom condo, alas!
i wouldn't call myself an audiophile, the fanciest piece of hi fi equipment i own is a pair of dt 990 headphones. But man when i see your place or those listening bars in japan i wish i was.
The McIntosh MHA100 caught my eye....does anyone have experience with this amp? the size would work well in my space... but is 50 WPC enough? thank you
Heck, yeah! I'd love to hang out in a space like that!! Nice work! Is that a pair of Large Advents on the bottom in your old space? I have a pair that I still use and love them. Again, good job on the kissa! ~Frank
Hey, gang... I'm fully aware I meant to say Schiit Mani not Magni (headphone amp). You probably caught that! My apologies!
I bought a Mani 2 about 2 months ago and it overachieves at it's $150 price point.
Do you have a IG??

One of the highlights of my trip to Kyoto was spending time in a jazz kissa. Yours is beautiful.
@@lindacourtneyhenderson9717 thank you!
pretty dope...would definitely soak up some tunes and drinks at the Strummer
Love it. I'm from Yokohama and there are many nice little Jazz Kissa. well done!
It’s fantastic! Inspiring too for what I would like to set up in my garage in front my ‘74 911.
That McIntosh and speaker combo is so damn fire. I love the work and the compilation of jazz in the middle is a top album!
Thanks!
Great space and name for the space!
Holy S Bobbo! The listening room is so much cooler than I expected from your description on air. Kudos!
Wow, thanks!
Great set up , love to have one like it at home . Thanks for the video . Keep the good work.
Squeezing in to say hello before “that guy” shows up and starts giving lectures on room treatments!
Very cool setup!
I don't have the money or patience for room treatment!
Being a huge jazz fan myself, you definitely planted a seed in my mind...
Your bar looks great, well done !
Go for it!
It turned out amazing. It's even more fitting that you included the hand made bar, considering how craftsmanship is highly valued in Japan.
Yes! I agree!
What a great project!
Thank you so much, Marc!
Thats a really great bar, Sir. I'm sure many a fine tot supped there with some great tunes serenading you. Enjoy.

Bob, I really liked your first US of A offering, but this is a whole ‘nother level. Love it! Thoroughly enjoyed it!
So kind of you to say that! Maybe a little too laid back for UA-cam! That's what my kids say! But I had to knock it out!

Nikka Yoichi and Miyagikyo whisky would nicely complete the kissa.

Warning: both are hideously expensive in the US, each over $200/750 ml. You might have to settle for Nikka Coffey Still.
Great idea to use the IKEA shelving. Gives me some new ideas.Hmmm…
