I do wish it wasn't so expensive, but the market for well built mobile focused controllers isn't exactly a competitive space. You have a bunch of cheaply built Bluetooth ones with deadzones in their joysticks, and the ones that don't have that have terrible layouts or are almost impossible to buy without importing. I love you for testing the essential phone. I've searched everywhere and no one has it. It's my emulation phone since it's EOL and I'm about to buy the controller.
FYI everyone folks on Reddit found that this controller has rubber sections where it holds the phone on the inside. They are removable! This allows for even the huge Galaxy s20 to fit, and many other phones without having to remove your case. I did see that people put in sticky pads to hold it in place better, but overall this little mod makes the kishi compatible with almost any phone.
Looks nice but, is it worth it with the price over an 8bitdo? I’ve been using the wired one lately with a type c adapter in my galaxy tab S6 and its inexpensive and virtually lagless. I get the formfactor for a phone but damn. 80 bucks.
I don't know why he didn't show it, but you can use the analog triggers for GameCube's R and L buttons. You can also click the sticks for L3 and R3. I had mine for a few days and LOVE it.
The Junglecat also fits the Galaxy Note 8 since it's identical in size with the Note 9. I know this because I have it. Before purchasing I sat with someone on Chat Support and they confirmed it fits just fine. Reason they don't promote it is perhaps the camera cutout. Reckon that would make the messaging tricky. But, yeah, if you have a Note 8, be assured the Junglecat works flawlessly. I'm using it with PPSSPP & XCloud to play Game Pass games. Works like a charm!
Cool review! I'd like to see a comparison between the Kishi, and it's uncle, the Gamevice controller. Gamevice doesn't have a spongey d-pad, the thumbsticks click, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack, and it also has pressure sensitive triggers. I use it with my pixel 3xl and it's a dream.
I've been using it for a week and this is the best Android controller in the market. I used many Android controllers in the past, all Bluetooth controllers I've tried have much worse latency, and the only decent two I have, DualShock 4 and the Shield Controller are either not suitable as a handheld or uncomfortable to hold when attaching a phone. In terms of fitting, I've tried with a couple of my phones and it fits perfectly my OnePlus 7 Pro and my Xperia XZ2. The only issue I've found so far is that the Type-C port on the Kishi doesn't pass Quick Charge through to the Xperia phone, max power supplied is 5v / 1 Amp. I haven't tried the OnePlus charge as I'm afraid of damaging the Kishi. If you can find a cheap SnapDragon 945 phone on eBay, with a Rzer Kishi attached it becomes the best dedicated handheld money can buy, it can move any Dolphin game, including Wii's Xenoblade, and many Citra games are playable with the last beta, anything below like Yaba Sanshiro or Flycast runs flawless.
FYI if you wanna use any x input controller on pub g or call of duty all you need to do is connect an actual Xbox controller and any other xinput controller at the same time. This will unlock the controller only servers and input from both controllers work as if they were both official. Both controllers need to be on and connected but this opens up your choices on what you can use.
I picked one of these up after seeing a ton of reviews before this one, and truly the controller is nice, I have a few issues however... 1.) If you keep your phone in a case, you have to take the case off to use this device. 2.) The Price. I would have at least expected some type of Hard shell so I can throw this in my backpack without worrying about breaking the thumb sticks. 3.) (Potentially something I'm doing wrong) At least on my Pixel 3a, the left side has a tendency to come towards me. Controller goes from (|==== |) to (/====|)
ETA while you're on a controller kick, I would love it if you reviewed the pxn p30 controller. You would be the first big name reviewer to do so. It's strikingly similar to the saitake that you love so much. May even be running the same internals and firmware. I recently grabbed one, but wanted your take on it, mostly because mine randomly disconnects which is infuriating during most gaming sessions. If you do review it I would be floored, and the controller is $30 on Amazon. Nothing crazy but definy worth looking into, especially if like me you can never find the saitake in stock.
I once had a controller like that for my iPhone 4s and I think it also worked on a 6s, that was $20 and was great, why can’t they make more of those, cheap case grip controllers
Just bought this bad boy for my galaxy s20 and i love it. I recommend it, it fits perfectly. I basically turned my phone into a nintendo switch. I play Gta and some snes roms.
I ended up picking this up at Walmart for 50 bucks and it came with a set of wireless earbuds it was left over from Black Friday and I absolutely love it it's perfect the only thing is I can't have my Otter case on my phone while I use it
It's very similar to the GameVice controller made on the iPhone 6 back in the day. I still use that one today, just wish it had L3 and R3 analog click buttons.

@@buddybleeyes Coulldn't you get a refurb? Ask the seller for a snapdragon unit. Would save you money, too. Edit: Or do you mean for the sim it's practically the price of the phone with contract anyway?
@@buddybleeyes Yeah I guess I don't give a crap about having data outside the available Wifi. I've got Wifi at home and Wifi at work. And the employer provided iPad I always have with me when I go to work gives me 5GB of 4G internet a month and I can use it as a hotspot so I have data to let them know when I'm running late. I only spend €10 a year to keep my prepaid sim card valid. I bought an LG G4 in 2016 for a little over €300 and it still works. Whenever I watch a video I use a TV or tablet, whenever I play a game I use a desktop PC or console and whenever I browse the internet I use a desktop or laptop. So the phone is just a communication device with a convenient camera for me and therefore I can't justify spending more than €600 for it (if the camera is exceptionally good). I have the money to buy something new and more expensive but I just deem it not worth the money.
Works with an Xperia 1 for anyone wondering if it fits. Should also work with a 1ii. You might have to remove your case to make it fit but my case is thin so I didn't have to.

Almost perfect --but because it's usb-c in a fixed location, portrait mode isn't possible which means DS games and vertical shooters won't be a great experience. It would be nice if they gave a bluetooth option for those situations. Otherwise this looks amazing.
God forbid it doesn't, some folks on reddit discovered that where it holds the phone inside, there are removable rubber grips that will even allow the massive galaxy s20 to fit. even with a case on!
@@elboogie2324 thanks for your reply. But I read in some comments that it doesn't work with pubg unless you use it with another external controller. I just want someone to confirm this
Since you mentioned the Razer Jungle Cat, there is another gamepad which has a similar separated gimmick, but it uses a completely separated left and right phone grip, will not fit any tablet. Google searching "Dilong War Wolf Eating Chicken" should find it. It is not officially sold outside of China , so it is difficult to purchase it from the US. I've seen it sold on AliExpress, and with S&H it is still cheaper then the Jungle Cat.

Great video as always. But question.! Would you rather use the Kishi or an Xbox or Playstation controller. For best effect and functionality.? I mean yeah the kishi will probably be a little more portable. But that seems to be all it has over regular controllers. So is it functionality on par or better. For its form factor and design. Or is the functionality of real controllers actually Superior to functionality of this mobile controller? Also I have the s21 ultra. Which they say doesn't fit without removing the inserts. Also you have to take off the case. So with that in mind even if the functionality is similar to a standard console controller. Do you think because I would have to remove the case every time I wanted to use it that I should just stick with a regular console controller? Your input would be extremely valuable thank you.!
If you already have a console controller (ideally from xbox which are easier to setup and get going) pair it up or wired with a clip, like it and if needing more portability, ergonomics ect. consider investing in a Kish or other like controllers. glhf

Thats what I am thinking but then you are close to in price to a gpd win max. Granted the next version of the win max will likely be the one to get if it comes with Ryzen cpu. We are so close to having what I want in a handheld but not quite there. The poco f2 is really close, if it was the same price as the f1, then Id think we would have a winner.
Very nice, but also very expensive. The USB-C charging pass-through is appreciated, but it's a shame they didn't make an audio-out pass-through as well... Now what I want to know is if this USB-C pass-through only supports charging, or does it work like your regular USB-C phone port, so you have the option to plug in on OTG a portable USB DAC/Amp to get the sound out without Bluetooth?
Making a quick request. In your next Game Cube or the PS2 emulation test. Could you please test out this game. Rayman 3. I don't have a good enough phone to test it out myself. So could you please try it out?
I'm using it on my T-Mobile Revvl 5g and it works perfect. (Also I recommend this phone it's on metro pcs and t mobile and it's $400 mid tier phone that can run emulators like psp and citra
Would this work for 5.7 inch 16:9 phones (EG my LG v20)? That's an absolute must for me since it makes so much more sense to emulate on an older 16:9 phone (1440p LCD so no burn in, way more than fast enough for everything except Dolphin but still very cheap, effectively bigger screen than most phones due to the aspect ratio, etc).
I would have putted the usb-c charging station upside rather than downside, the ds console had it upside for a reason, it was because it could become troublesome to play while having the cable getting in your way to play comfortably, altough here doesn't seem to be that uncomfortable, it is still not pleasing to the eye to see it in that position

There’s actually a bit of a lip on either end, so it’s not solely clipped on by the USB port. There’s some pressure on either end of the phone.
Bruh I've been waiting for you do upload this since I saw the dang thing months ago thank you!!!!
Yes! Mine should come on Friday, can't wait to use it!
When you said "no inputlag" I was sold🤩🤩🤩🥳
@@Tony-qe3cj my bad, I read in a review that they didn't click.
I have this razor and I use it with my Samsung galaxy a71 5g and it works so good and I love it!
I got mine today for 49 bucks and it included the wireless eard buds. Definitely got a steal
Controller goes from (|==== |) to (/====|)
Im getting the pixel 4a does the 3a seem small in the controller or does it work fine?
The Gamevice Flex supports cases
Tony it wasn’t a gamevice but it was super similar to those
There was one from Moga, and one from Logitech
Definitely waiting on your review of this
The pressure sensitive triggers will be good for Super Mario Sunshine for running whilst shooting water.
I've been using a PS4 Controller for a few years now through USB C with Emulators but for Mobile Gaming this is the best option by far!
I just go Grid and played it using my Kishi, it was pretty cool to play!
80 dollars though.. that's kinda ouch.
Compared to the gamevice this is miles better
@@trickyrat483 nice meme. Razer hardware is significantly better than you give it credit for. The software I agree is hit or miss.
80 dollars you almost buy a New 2DS XL
Not really. I paid $100 for the Jungle Cat and a lot of other controllers that are high quality cost more like $150
@@itsacopy yeah but you will have a 2D XL when with this device you can have a 2D XL and a Mobile phone as well as a ton of other systems that surpass even a modded 2D XL
Perfect for my old Pixel 3 XL I keep for emulation. Front facing speakers are a must with these type of controller. I guess I'll be replacing iPEGA BT Controller!
using this with mi9t pro/s8+ and poco f1 its really nice controller good quality(actually the best i have.. and i have all of ipega/beponcool etc). came in 3 days to austria from hong kong (ordered from razer site)
Thanks for showing the emulator games. I bought this before even looking up any in depth information and it looks like i made the right choice. I primarily want this to play through the DS and GBA Castlevanias again since im playing Harmony of Despair with a friend. Im picking it up later today. Hope its every bit as good as it looks
Bought one to play GBA Castlevanias too. Which one do you like most?
@@andrepechio i like all of them, but of the gba ones i always play Circle of the moon and Harmony of Dissonance a few times a year. Aria of sorrow is good too, but i always just play Dawn of sorrow.
@@martiano13bros thanks, I think I will play Harmony of Dissonance. Circle of the moon I finished many many years ago and it was way too difficult. I was really young
@@andrepechio once you do the any card bug its hard to go back lol
Honestly seen this the other day, hands down gunna pick it up when I get my note 10+ (exynos version unfortunately though)
@@Tony-qe3cj I'm in the uk, so I'm pretty sure its exynos only. Contracts are the only way for me unfortunately, if I could fork out upfront to get the snapdragon I would!
@@buddybleeyes Contracts are a scam just like financing cars. The only thing it does well is make poor people even poorer. A wiser choice is buying a phone you can afford and use it until it dies.
@@CheapBastard1988 its pretty much how everyone does it over here, to get a sim only with decent data you end up paying like a tenner less a month. Even I know it's pretty much a scam, just can't fork out the £1000 upfront :')
Thanks for the video. PLEASE TEST the latency difference between Bluetooth and this Vs a PS4 controller with usb connection if possible. Great work
Works with an Xperia 1 for anyone wondering if it fits. Should also work with a 1ii. You might have to remove your case to make it fit but my case is thin so I didn't have to.
Now this is a controller I would like to get one day. Updated firmware along with a USB C plug while being able to charge through pretty much sells is for me. Reminds me of the Duke controller except in mini size XD.
But thank you for reviewing this. I would like to get it, but I'm gonna have to wait on a sale one day when it's at least $30 to $40. $80 is too high for this type of controller. But still, very cool.
What App did you use for the GamePad testing? Would be handy for on the Go Repairs :D
You have so many phones and not even a Oneplus!
2nd guessing the quality of this channel...
Jus kidding.
Picking up one soon
I just picked one up, and when it comes I will be testing Poco X3 Pro, Galaxy A51, Galaxy A20s, and a few others to see how it performs
I love these controllers that plug directly into the phone and don’t require charging. Just wish more telescopic controllers did this and did it cheaper.
i actually use the note 9 shell for the jungle cat on the one plus 7 pro. just used a dremel and shaved it down and cut out the camera , it fits perfect and its awesome. i prefer the jungle cat better because of wireless feature
My ADD flares up bad with Bluetooth latency, I'll probably give this a look. Thanks, ETA!
This controller is a beast i use the mantis gamepad pro button mapping app cost a few bucks for the pro version of the app or you can find and sideload the pro apk as i did and once you can map all your games controls this thing is so good
That's something really interesting to consider with a gaming PC and a compatible phone, even my good old ZTE from 2017 has USB-C, and a 1440P screen that matches my monitor resolution, I'd definitely need a 5GHz WiFi router first though :/
Thank you so much I really appreciate you taking the time to test all those phones and all those scenarios this is really good treat birthday is coming up and this is something I'm looking forward to it's one of those things I definitely want I definitely will use but even if I never use it I still want it is really bad ass thank you so much
I have a Samsung A70 and this is a cool gadjet thanks 4the review
If you end up getting a kishi it does fit a 20 ultra just be careful removing and installing it but works like a charm
Just upgraded my oneplus 7 pro to an iPhone pro max but I’m keeping the 7pro as a dedicated emulation device.
Does this controller fit that handset ?
Almost perfect --but because it's usb-c in a fixed location, portrait mode isn't possible which means DS games and vertical shooters won't be a great experience. It would be nice if they gave a bluetooth option for those situations. Otherwise this looks amazing.
Does the home button work well for you? It doesn't work for me in parsec/steam streamer.
Been looking for something like this, hope it fits my LG V35 ok
God forbid it doesn't, some folks on reddit discovered that where it holds the phone inside, there are removable rubber grips that will even allow the massive galaxy s20 to fit. even with a case on!
Just got this and the Hammerhead ear buds as a bundle for $49 at Walmart.
Does it work for PUBG?
@@oblxviking5746 it's not game specific
@@elboogie2324 thanks for your reply. But I read in some comments that it doesn't work with pubg unless you use it with another external controller. I just want someone to confirm this

And there was me taking the p out of linus for fanboying razor on this. I actually commented "I'll wait for ETA prime's opinion"
I've seen it sold on AliExpress, and with S&H it is still cheaper then the Jungle Cat.
i just oredered mine ..... seems very nice ... i should get it sometime next week.
Does it work for PUBG?
Mine is on the way son. Can't wait
Does it work for PUBG?
@@oblxviking5746 no. It doesn't work with COD mobile either
Awesome video & product.
Did you like this controller better than the Saitake 7007?
Thanks for the review, I needed to know if the moto g power would work, and you said the fast did. If you only had a cat in the review, it would be flossy carter for handheld gaming 🐈
Finally a review for a fish out of water haha nice 1 , as long as I can play quake 3 arena I'm not bothered
If you already have a console controller (ideally from xbox which are easier to setup and get going) pair it up or wired with a clip, like it and if needing more portability, ergonomics ect. consider investing in a Kish or other like controllers. glhf
Are there any other telescopic Android controllers (both bluetooth and USB C) that have pressure-sensitive triggers?
Hi ETA Prime, I was wondering does the Razer Kishi Controller also work with the Coolpad Legacy phone. Thanks in advance.
Thank you for all of your work.
is there a difference between the android controller and the xbox one?
Hey ETA, I'm wanting to purchase but I'm nervous becuase I will be buying the Note 20+ Ultra. Not sure it will fit?
very nice with that pressure sensitive trigger button, so, definitely it can keep constant speed on racing games right? my questiin is, tge analog stick, does it have pressure sensitive feature too? so we able to keep the steering wheen at constant radius too? just like aftermarket profesional steering wheel? if yes, thats the real deal controller 😀
This with the poco f2 would be a win.
That's probably going to be close to a ps5 lol
Awesome getting it. I was excited about it glad it didn't disappoint.
Also do you collect phones or something 😉
Very nice, but also very expensive. The USB-C charging pass-through is appreciated, but it's a shame they didn't make an audio-out pass-through as well... Now what I want to know is if this USB-C pass-through only supports charging, or does it work like your regular USB-C phone port, so you have the option to plug in on OTG a portable USB DAC/Amp to get the sound out without Bluetooth?
I’ll give it a test and let you know
@@ETAPRIME Thanks!
Hi, Cqef. I use my Fiio E17K and pixel 4 did a test, unfortunately, the answer is no, it won't pass through, it seems is only a charging pass-through.
Making a quick request. In your next Game Cube or the PS2 emulation test. Could you please test out this game. Rayman 3. I don't have a good enough phone to test it out myself. So could you please try it out?
Thanks. Getting one of these things now.
In your opinion which is better. This controller or the moga xp5-A+
I'm using it on my T-Mobile Revvl 5g and it works perfect.
Hey the usb c pass through just for charging or can you hook a usb c earphones in there as well
charging only, unfortunately.
So does it have L3/R3 buttons? This question never seems to get answered on anyone's videos.
It does.
These are the phone it will fit for
Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+/S9/S9+/S10/S10+/S20/S20+/Note 8/Note 9/Note 10/Note 10+ Google Pixel 2/2 XL/3/3XL/4/4XL
Other devices within supported dimensions (H: 145.3 - 163.7mm, W: 68.2-78.1mm, D: 7.0-8.8mm)
I bought one and I love it. Downside is u have to remove case on phone.
Does it work with protection covers like the incipio or similar?
Or is the USB plug too short for it?
I'm a subscribed fan.. Thanks or posting,. when I heard the price, I closed that video so quick..lol
Very helpful. Thank you.
Kinda cool. It's cool it has USB c as Bluetooth is latency. I don't notice it. The inpega one's aren't high quality. where where kinda stuck with those.
They should make one that fits a tablet.
Was curious if this would work if you had a thin TPU case on the note 10 plus.
Nope. I have both the official leather and plastic ones from Samsung, and it's too snug in either, have to remove them to fit it in.
@@davids245 actually, you can remove the rubber from the inside of the controller. You can fit a phone with a case if you remove the rubber.
