Maggie Beth is David's daughter, she was 17 in this performance. This was the last concert/taping in the Barn before David put in A/C, he was very hot and sweating a LOT. The stage he built for this taping cut off the air supply from the doors behind it, it was very hot in the Barn in the summer months, but we didn't care, the music and the friendships and family built in that Barn was worth all of the discomfort of the heat, and yearly monsoon rains, to the point it's been called Barn Splash instead of Barn Bash.

      @SchoeneTante Рік тому +4

As I recall, they closed all the doors in the Barn so it would be dark for the taping, also think there were very few fans in there because of the noise. Anyways, I've lived in South Texas all my life, but that was the hottest I've ever been including a Pharoah's tomb in the Valley of the Kings. Lol. Totally worth it, though, the Freedom taping was beyond wonderful.

@@SchoeneTante we were not really happy about the placement of the stage, that's where we sat every year at the Bash so Logan could step outside and sing along with David without bothering anyone else, along with the crosswind you got thru the Barn. We loved having it in the round, not that we don't still love being in the Barn, it was just the perfect setup for an autistic boy that sang every song with David.😁

Also, David’s face being so red is from being so hot. He has no trouble hitting those notes. He hits 3 octaves💚.
      And his daughter is amazing!

Its, from the Bible, the story of the Woman at the Well.
    Its beautiful.
As are all David's performances. Love this one with Maggie (she does have an advantage to hit those higher notes!!!). He feels all his songs so deeply and relays them so perfectly. Goosebumps.
Thanks for the reactions. There are so so many you could do.
But before you finish, I am sure you would like the Star Spangled Banner (Legacy of Love version). At least check it out for yourself, but would love to see your reaction to that.

I agree. Yes, the Legacy of Love version of the Star Spangled Banner is a must reaction. Your keen Audio Ears would be blown away by the orchestrated sound-meld of Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir” meets David Norris Phelps! Go for it!

Thank you for your reactions to David Phelps. I do hope you will reconsider doing reactions on him in the future. If you do, the songs on either his Stories & Songs or Game Changer Albums are phenomenal!

It would be great if you could react to something from David’s latest album “Gamechanger.” David wrote all the songs on it. To me, “Song for Sinners” is a masterpiece. It showcases just about everything we love about David’s music.
I really enjoy your insights and tangents when listening to music, and your sense of humor.

    • @trishbillingsley1525

Agreed, “Song for Sinners” is indeed a masterpiece! What a range he has-in conveying the flaw that is in us all-and the Solution. A great suggestion for a reaction!

Appreciate your reactions to David Phelps. If you ever do another reaction, I hope it will be one of the fifteen songs off his 2021 GameChanger album (all written by Phelps and very eclectic). With your musical background, discerning ear, and subtle humor, I suggest the song/video "I remember what we thought love was." The arrangement is bold, the lyrics vulnerably honest, and--best of all--David is at the piano, singing, and sharing his amazing artistry. This is the first song he wrote for the album--for his wife Lori. Thanks!

Maggie Beth is David’s younger daughter… this was done at the barn video taping of Freedom cd/dvd…. I was there… It was extremely hot in there because it was in May and before the barn was air conditioned… the whole experience was awesome !!!!

Great reaction! Hope you come back to David for more some time... "No More Night" is one of his signature songs and "He's Alive" with the Gaither Vocal Band, speaking of which you'd love the GVB harmonies... the group is composed of some of the greatest gospel vocalists ever. David was their power tenor for decades. "Let Freedom Ring" is jaw dropping for sure.

He's turning red also because it was super hot and his barn didn't have air conditioning. In the beginning of the concert you can see him with his long sleeves and somewhere towards the middle he rolled them up.

I enjoy your reactions! Charlotte Ritchie is the backup singer and her husband is on the drums. They've known David for many years through the Gaither Homecoming stuff. Bummed that this is your last David Phelps reaction -- was hoping you would do Heaven's Shore from this same concert.

Never heard this song before....and I'm a DP fan (but not one of the "freaks" apparently, lol because I've not heard this song). I've always thought DP would make a good Broadway musical singer because his emotions are so much apart of his singing. I'm an actor....when I sing I act like (I pretend - I fake to be) a singer....when DP sings he's the real thing...emotion and excellence!
