It must be universal. 😂 It is a great comment to illustrate we don’t need all the storage we think we need. I have a friend who is a great chef. She downsized to a tiny unit and was able to satisfy all her cooking needs into, like, three utensils. It was a badge of honor for her.

Couple of minor quibbles. First, I'd move the washer/dryer to a new cupboard at the outside wall counter in the kitchen. Moving it from the bedroom to the living room means a load can be running at night will I am sleeping. Second, I'd go from a stackable to a single w/d combo to provide countertop space for folding. Third, and this shows no one has taken a shower in that bathroom, I'd flip the pipes to the inside wall to prevent freezing and to have the faucet reachable from the door without being IN the shower so one isn't hit with a blast of cold water turning on the shower. In the current configuration, one has to reach in all the way and get hit with cold water while adjusting the fixtures.

This is definitely a nicely layed out floor plan. A couple of suggestions: 1.) get rid of the nightstands, move the bed over and add a dresser for more clothes. Leave the washer and dryer. The dining table, install one like a murphy bed style table, which folds up when not in use. Bottomline - great job Kerry.

i agree on the dresser but i would put the table right next to the kichen sink section and put the couch where the table is so i can have my desk office space on the wall to the right when u come in

While I agree with the dining table suggestion, I truly dislike the trend towards pushing beds up into a corner. Obviously you haven’t been the one wrestling a fitted sheet on all four corners of a bed. I don’t mind if one side has a pretty narrow aisle, but I need to be able to get to both sides of the bed to make and unmake it.

This one is a winner, but not for the reasons you might assume. The price is in the sweet spot because a home can even be bought twice to create a 2-bedroom.
The other reason is your presentation. I think you found your calling. The Vanna White walk-thru with your killer humor made the video a must replay. Seriously though, I think the live guide style, the bed stretch faux measure, and the living room daydreams in U2 shades are great details that made this video as enjoyable to view as the house is engaging to learn about. Great video and great house! 👍🏾

Very livable and stylish. The all on one level layout is much better than the loft bed concept IMO. The shed style roof is good at preventing leaks and snow accumulation. I would spring for the folding doors. It really makes the place feel bigger and modern. I like how you jovially knocked down all the usual criticisms, Kerry. I really like this one. The changes that I would make include having the closet include the washer and dryer. If a single person lived in this unit, they could have two side-by-side units and still have room to hang close over the appliances as well as longer items on the left-hand side. If this were on the East Coast of the US, I might be interested. I am curious to see the next size up, which I was hoping was the unit right next to the one you showed us. Cheers! Len

They make really nice privacy films now that are easy to apply - so you could add privacy to those windows yourself for a really affordable price. I really like this home except for the galley kitchen - I hate Galley kitchens, but it's not a deal breaker in this case because there is quite a bit of counter space on either side of the sink, and adequate on either side of the cooktop. I love having the stackable washer & dryer next to the closet - pull clothes out of the dryer and immediately hang them up or put them away in the dresser you could place next to the window as you enter the bedroom. I absolutely love the curb-less shower. The floating vanity looks nice but lacks drawers - drawers are more functional in most cases (I need drawers for all the girly stuff). I like all the windows in this home and the fact that some of them can be opened to let in fresh air is a bonus (some of the prefab companies are putting in casement windows that don't open along with the type that crank out - screens and egress from the bedroom in case of fire or whatever are a must folks). I fear the transportation costs across to the east coast where I live may price these out of the market for me unless I only get the base model.

It's nice and stylish. The featureless white walls aid to the feeling of looking expansive without having a cluttered cramp look. The fancy eight grand door looks nice and lends to the look of the front entrance plus when opened all the way up makes the living room area look that more expansive. For the bathroom window I'd probably go for the LCD technology style window that can turn opaque at the flick of a switch. I'd still want an additional room/office space/pantry/workshop/storage room of sorts to accommodate my lifestyle. I think they knocked it out of the ballpark on overall design, build, and finish and price.

  • @dalegereaux1863
    @dalegereaux1863 8 місяців тому +4

I always thought they left the bathroom windows with regular glass let more light in for the model units.
Maybe they just do it so they can charge extra for opaque glass.

You don’t have thousands of beauty products. You have soap and moisturizer, shampoo and conditioner. You don’t buy in bulk, and you conserve.

Nice. If you're cost conscious, maybe go with standard sliding doors or a a nice door with glass and large window with sections that open or with a regular door and a standard sliding glass door. You could also add space in the bedroom by using a combo washer/dryer and having a small cabinet with hangers or drawers above where the dryer would normally be. And upright dresser or armoire should be able to fit in the bedroom easily for additional space for clothing. Definitely add the privacy glass or nice blinds in the bath. I would trade the shower for a nice small soaking tub with shower head over.. One of the best affordable units I have seen. Nice job as usual Kerry.

I like it. If I had the option to play a bit with the layout, about the only thing I would do is extend the interior space to the end and eliminate the covered patio. The extra square footage gained could allow a small close for where you enter the home (to put shoes and coats since there is currently nowhere to do that) and just give a few extra feet to each area. That may allow a slightly larger stove, fridge, washer/dryer, etc to give more options for appliances since the small appliances are often less common and more expensive than standard width units.

Nice! Great finishes, & the price isn’t horrible. If they have options so you don’t have to have the $8K glass door, worth looking at.

I like the house - it’s a uniquely done tiny house with a nice bathroom and first floor bedroom. The porch and glass door wall were gorgeous. But - a common pet peeve of mine - no coat/broom closet in the front room or kitchen. You definitely need more storage if you are going to live in it for any extended period of time.

I like the factor they are equipping it with contemporary heating, the Heat Pump hit the list of want-haves, I would outfit it with a Induction Stove, a GE all in one washer dryer with heat pump tech, ans throw in a star link, I'll come by and pick it up in a few days! Great home!

I live in a tiny independent senior living apartment, so this house would be just right for me, and with a price of 118,000-150,000, it would be ideal. Now dealing with locating it to a safe place around the country is going to be the trick. Also, a tub instead of a shower would be my choice.

I really like this place, I'm not sure how useful the glass sliding door would be (bugs suck and they will get inside), but love the light it lets in, it's a must. I'd much prefer if you didn't have to go through the bedroom to reach the bathroom, though. Not that I have a whole lot of people over, but it feels like there's less privacy when they have to go into your bedroom.

The Galley style kitchen is GREAT. Good size closet.

My home cost $20,000 in2019, including closing costs. That was for 1000 square feet and a detached workshop of 500 square feet. It sits on .2 acres and within walking distance to grocery, downtown, library, etc.

I am in Michigan and unfortunately I can’t find a single county or city in Michigan that will let you put a 500sq ft home on a vacant piece of property. It’s extremely frustrating. It’s just me and my wife and we have our house outside of Detroit and we would love to put a house like this in northern Michigan as a vacation home. But every single county and city in Michigan requires all new builds to be at least 1,200 sq ft. It’s absolutely ridiculous to force people to build more than they need. It’s extremely frustrating.

I totally agree. Same applies to your subdivisions here in Texas. I wouldn't think restrictions apply to the Upper Pennisula? Have a friend living up there in the UP. He built a small cabin on some acreage.
