You are better off on the freeway overpass starting location.
You need a gas mask to stop the rads and then you can sleep outside.

It is too bad though that feral ghouls are attacking you. They should normally be friendly from the start (besides this ghoul machete survivor haha). I think that with the "Dynamic Ghoulification" mod, you can actually not be harmed by the ferals but unfortunately you'll have to make yourself a ghoul with rads from the start.

Pocketed armor is good because it adds I think 5 pounds of carry weight per piece with that mod. also for the .44 if memory serves me correctly by sanctuary there is a little water pump thing by the lake, which has some set loot spawns. I think 1 .44 pistol, 6 .44 rounds, a water, and a radaway. it might not be there in frost but it was in vanilla
