I recommend the mod Immersive Mining by Jonathon594 instead. It makes mining timeskip 1 ingame hour and randomly give you 1 to 6 ore after the skip. Also it makes all ore veins have 144 ore in them. So you can mine them for days.
There should be a mod that gives you a "disease" like lower back pain if you mine too much in a short amount of time. Makes you move 20% slower or something.
I love how seriously you take your RPs! Its like watching a different game with every playlist 😊 This current one gave me an idea for a punny alternative though: "Playing a *Minor* in Skyrim" 😅 Like, if you could use a mod to make yourself a child character thats trying to survive and thrive. Youd be allowed to wield a dagger, and you could make money by begging or selling things. And you could RP a sort of 'foster system' where you can only go outside city limits if your foster parent accompanies you as a follower. The objectives are to make it to adulthood in your own way: either find a forever family to adopt you, or to make it out in the world as a drifter, or maybe grow up to take over Honorhall... ultimately just having the best and most adventurous childhood you can, while keeping the RP within the bounds of what a child should be allowed to do.
@CH-1060forEel exactly! Besides, unless you use exploits or have a lot of patience, you're never really gonna get all the perks like you do in most games. But imagine an RP where you start off as a growing child, run that as long as you choose to, and then initiate the event where you cross the border and get captured. And then it becomes an RP in the regular playthrough. Epic!
I like these types of videos (I'm really enjoying the Ranger series as well). Maybe for your "normal guy" playthroughs you might want to lower your max HP or something to keep you from so brazenly jumping into any action that erupts. You got right between that hunter and his target and maybe if there was a serious risk of being one- or two-shotted by anyone you might play a little more "realistically". Don't know what the concensus would be on that, just my two cents. Great video either way!
Probably the best Skyrim video I've ever watched. No worries about cheesy exploits like XP glitches. Just a calmly narrated video that has story & structure. It really felt like I was watching a whole new video game. This definitely earned my sub, can't wait for episode 2!
Yes yes yes, listen you don't even know how much we needed a sequel of minor jacoby, it is my favourite series watched it multiple times this is gonna be epic 🎉, also rip to minor friend.
Minor Jacoby? 😀 That's an interesting idea: Skyrim as a kid. There should be some mods out there to make it happen. It would be cool to have some sort of school to go to.
Jacoby, I would absolutely love to see more of this series! It’s humble, honest work in my favorite fantasy universe. You should find a medium value mine (no gold like you said) close to a town or city, and make or buy what you need to survive. Don’t feel bad about buying about buying supplies, it’s part of the game.
I love the editing of the intro (and the editing in general here seems different, in a good way, than your previous vids)! In general, always love the more in-depth touches where the characters have names and backstories/distinct personalities. Makes me root for them that much more 😅
just recently found you channel and now been bingeing all "honest work" series, this one, the woodcutter and the beggar series have really captured me, looking forward to see where your upload next
BEST VIDEO YET! the editing is well done. It seems like that refugee fancys you! Maybe you can pursue a relationship with her? lol. Also I know everyone likes to defend the Dunmer. However, lore wise, it would be very rare for a Nord to be sympathetic to a dark elf refugee or any elves for that matter given the history.
True, people shouldn't portray their modern views on the game so much and embrace roleplaying. In this case I guess he would likely be more tolerant towards dark elf refugees because he is a refugee himself.
No wonder bethesda worries elder scrolls 6 won’t meet fan expectations. So much time later, and people can still enjoy Skyrim thanks to mods and just their own imagination
I would love to see more of this. It's interesting to me as someone who has done something similar as a guard in survival. Complete with a rotating schedule with allowances for randiant bandit clearing quests. Unfortunately, it was on console so no in-depth modding to make the experience complete. But it's actually quite fun to spend time in the world and act as an average person would. One of the restrictions I had to keep myself from acting more like a common bandit or adventurer was that I couldn't take armor from corpses. Pretty much everything else was fine, though. Weapons, especially so.
- I have Cabbage to sell "Honest pay for honest work" -I have potatoes to sell "Honest pay for honest work" -I have Wheat to sell "Honest pay for honest work"
I appreciate all the great videos you’ve given us over the years very cozy and amazing to watch repeatedly, i’ll be sending you some super chats in the next couple months
Funny enough, I got back into Skyrim because of your woodcutter series. Possibly the most boring playthrough you've made but it still looked fun and has inspired to do something similar. Love the vids.
Just popped in to say that, as much as I love watching your videos, and I get a great amount of entertainment from them, I can't watch these any longer. I'm getting motion sickness and headaches from trying to stay focused on the way you move your "camera" around. This isn't a criticism of the way you play; please don't take it as that. It's just something I recently realized, that each time I watch you play, I get queasy and headachy. I'm so sorry. I don't have this problem when *I* play Skyrim, but I think that's because I know what I'm going to be looking at, and I'm prepared for the way the "camera" moves. But watching someone else play has an element of unpredictability to it that I can't handle. Please continue to make your videos, because they are so much fun for all of your subscribers. I just can't be part of it anymore.
Your better starting at hunting and crafting leather armor+mining. Your smithing will go up as well. Also chopping firewood is a good static. While hunting you can pick up alchemy ingredients and make money selling potions.
I use the “Immersive Jewelry” mod that changes the weights of ores and ingots to closer to realistic weights. Coins also have weight. I like it and find it more immersive plus more and finer jewelry patterns.
Really enjoying this play through, nice to see the game played as an average worker rather than combat. have subscribed to follow your story. Oh wow I see i'm late to the party you've done a shit load of these!
Jacoby can we PLEASE get one of these series Life as a Gladiator Life as a Monster Hunter Life as a Mercenary Life as a Businessman [FINISHING LIFE AS A VIGILANT!!] okay if you read this jacoby, thanks so much :)
I am amused by the idea of Darkwater Crossing as a refuge from the war. Mostly because that's where the War almost ended. It was Darkwater Crossing where Ulfric was captured by Tullius, for those who normally Alternate Start Mod and haven't played the intro in ages. Literally started the play part of it quite possibly exactly where Ulfric got ambushed and captured on that bridge. I dunno, made me smile "Safe from the war... right where the last big action of the war took place". Which I suppose has the sort of "Where are they going to bomb, the rubble pile they already bombed?" logic to it. I'd find it interesting perhaps if Sloan made his way to Dawnstar as a Miner. You have the two competing mines in town directly, owned by a former husband and wife. Which could add some gristle to the RP. As well in terms of Sloan being a bit self sufficient and what not you have some good fishing spots nearby. Though not sure if the fishing works with your survival mod set up, I've always found it hit and miss if it included them properly. And of course if Sloan was a bad enough dude as a miner he could get the Homestead which is an interesting place because while there's not a distinct "Mine" near it. Quite a few mining spots tucked away in the mountains near it as I recall. Might be a good bit of flavor with him basically having prospected that place and trying to make a go of being his own boss, supplying Whiterun which doesn't have miners of its own but does have a lot of metal working. Just odd ideas. Look forward to what you got going.
cant wait for Sloan to be interviewed by an officer of the Bureau of Labor Statistics
Oh wow my other favorite unremarkable youtuber mentioned
Austin mentioned
At least he'll be for sure gainfully employed as a resident of this location.
Not even 2 minutes in and the ladies of Skyrim flock to Sloan 😂
Yes, Quarry Junction is right next to it.
😭😭
Gamers in 2011: I cant wait to roleplay as a master wizard in this cold northern land!
Gamers in 2024:
Pretty much the epitome of the "I've done everything this world has to offer" stage of a game.
that's me
the power fantasy of earning a livable wage
I was roleplaying like this back when it came out
Finally a place where if you work hard you can have the American dream … I can see the appeal
I'd gladly watch more episodes of this character.
Awesome!
I LOVE the new full introduction and backstory to the character. Made it much more personable and easier to be invested. Love your content!
Agreed on everything
I recommend the mod Immersive Mining by Jonathon594 instead. It makes mining timeskip 1 ingame hour and randomly give you 1 to 6 ore after the skip. Also it makes all ore veins have 144 ore in them. So you can mine them for days.
Looks like a cool mod, definitely rp friendly but for a video format I kinda want to show the mining
13 seconds in and the jump in quality is apparent. Your work is highly appreciated jakeby, love the intro and backstory
There should be a mod that gives you a "disease" like lower back pain if you mine too much in a short amount of time. Makes you move 20% slower or something.
Now we're getting immersive
Love a good mining montage. Almost as good as a wood cutting montage.

i love this idea! good opportunity for a coming of age story

"My friend, I've been here one day. Don't dump your marital issues on me" caused a coughing fit of giggles
Sloan still doesn't know of his destinies as DB until he hit a buried dragon accidentally with a pickaxe
:o

Idk why but hearing you narrate “my friend” soothes the soul.
Here we are again, lads. Ready to hit the mines?
Your videos are pretty chill. Good for background listening while working or (more likely) chill gaming sessions
Another miner roleplay!?? What a treat!!😊😊
I love the editing of the intro (and the editing in general here seems different, in a good way, than your previous vids)! In general, always love the more in-depth touches where the characters have names and backstories/distinct personalities. Makes me root for them that much more 😅

Your videos have gotten so much better over the years, the intro was fantastic and great editing!
Now this guy got me playing another playthrough: The miner of dragonborn
Good old days of life of a miner ❤
2:24 i hear they make pills for that
Finally I've caught up! I love your videos, they are perfect for when I spend hours doing crochet. Keep up the amazing work!
Awesome! Good luck with your crochet creations :)
Less than 2 min into the video and we’re already reminded why Skyrim is truly the game of all time

Something soothing about mining. Wind up mining in every game that has it
“He has cabbage, salmon. He hasn’t got much, I was hoping he had meat.”
That’s some nord logic there
@ 7:30 when you got that nordic RIZZZ
she was just making sure the buns were getting warmed up to XDD
bro you are flowing... thank you for the work you put in.
Your intros are getting way better brother
Keep up the good work 👍
Really enjoy the RP you add for these scenarios
I hope Sloan hit every mine in Skyrim... he looks tough enough.
Excellent video. Glad you’re back to the life as a miner series. Looking forward to more videos.
This gives me Minecraft survival world vibes. In a good way. Really dig this. Would totally keep watching if there's more episodes

I would say that you need to find a fishing pole. That way, you don’t have to worry about buying food
Juhu, Jacoby is back. ❤
This kinda makes me remember that one Skyrim role player who set up a whole story and actually played like he was his character

Hell yeah new series perfect for a Friday ❤
Nice video❤ You could go hunting with the hunter you helped and split the meat and furs

Damn, I am working in the mines
Let's gooooo the mining characters are always the best

The fantasy of a decent salary
Life as a miner sequel lets go

Huh, funnily enough I'd like to try this mod. There's something kind of comfy about just slowly mining and "living" your character.
he yearns for the mines
Can’t beat Oblivion or Skyrim music 🖤
Do you think the thalmor would arrest the greybeards if they worshiped Talos lol
The Greybeards actually do revere Talos but I doubt the Thalmor would do anything about it
You could also have the mining go on while you go off somewhere else
