@VERGE Cody YT The schools are not horrible. Carroll and Veterans Memorial are brand new. Miller and Ray are the first two schools in Corpus and were renovated. Moody and King are the only two that really need updates.
Lived in Corpus for 35 years (moved out four years ago) and it’s a really good place to live and retire. One quick note on taxes: if anyone out there that is 100% disabled from the VA, they pay no property tax in Nueces county. Thanks for the video.
@@johnjolly2087 All over Texas: Disabled Veteran 50 to 69% rates, will receive a $10,000 property tax exemption. And if you have Social Security Permanent Disability you might get frozen property taxes when filed.

Moved here a yr ago from ny, easy living. Traffic is a joke compared to the LIE in ny. Traffic is minimal. Weather is great, don’t miss shoveling snow one sec
I lived and worked in Corpus Christi for several years. We enjoyed it. We did evacuate for a hurricane once, but suffered no damage. There is nothing wrong with being able to play golf in your shorts in January. Ended up moving to run a family business that needed help, but we very much enjoyed our time there.
How we give directions in Corpus….”Take a left at Whataburger. After three Whataburgers, take a right and go passed two more Whataburgers and it will be across from HEB!
Lol. I like Whataburger and HEB The last time I was in Corpus went to Whataburger decades ago. I remember when a friend lived there we freaked out about the scorpion in the kitchen and one time in Austin too. I remember when I lived in C A we had some scary spiders
I was born and raised here and love it. If you don't like CC, then move. It's that simple. Correction...we do not have weather that is either hot or cold...it's hot or HOT! We may have a bit of cooler weather, but there are many days within the winter months where we have all 4 seasons in a day.
I’ve lived here for 23 years and I don’t like it. The thieves in this town will steal anything that isn’t cemented in. I can’t even put a potted plant in my front yard. They will even dig up newly planted plants. I was told by a nurseryman at one of our better nurseries about one of their customers that they landscaped the entire front yard with succulents. Someone dug everyone of them up over night. The stray dog population is horrible. I read almost daily about someone that saw someone dump their dog or puppies. People find cardboard boxes with puppies or kittens dumped. These a just a few reasons I don’t like it here.
Those things sound worse than my town. I'm kind of surprised about it. I really love the beach, but I think over the years the water has become more polluted. Times in the past my family planned to go over there to corpus Christi, but on the internet apparently people were getting sick from the ocean water.😢
I think with the state of the economy right now, Corpus Christi is a great option for those with the means to move. We raised our kids in California and moved as soon as we could. First to Tacoma Washington, (2 yrs) then here. It was too cold there for us. The cost of living here is great in comparison. 30% less across the board! I feel so bad for family and friends struggling to make it in NYC, California and Hawaii. Yes, it's hot, and there are bugs. We live in the future and have air conditioning and bug spray. Its a nice trade off to not be stressed about the financial future. It just depends on folks priorities. I love Cali, was born and raised there, but the writing was on the wall. I left my heart in San Francisco!
😢 raised in Southern California. I'm in orange county and we are thinking seriously about moving to southern Texas. My heart is breaking and I'm really nervous
@@kellylasko yea, it’s a culture shock at first (plastic bags, styrofoam, still in use everywhere). The folks I have met are cool. No matter where I’ve lived, it’s a mixed bag. Best of luck to you!
@@JadonCrabtree why would I do that? My generation grew up singing that song 🎶 This land is your land, this land is my land🎶 in school. So, I can get to live anywhere I want across the nation. You can too! 😉❤️
Im from Corpus. I currently live further up north but ready to move back. Only thing troubling to me is how much its changed from the 80s & 90s (while I was there). Crime & drugs have escalated. And some places have been left to fall apart or so much constructions has made a mess of the place (heartbreaking to see). Other than the annual red tide. It used to be nice. We loved being close to water, the city didnt act like a big city, you didnt need a whole lot of money to have a good time, always something to do and you could go anywhere looking like a true beachbum & nobody really judged or cared. It was so laid back.
My first real job after college was working on Mustang Island and living in Corpus Christi…The absolute best time of my life was being out there.. I was a 21 dude From South Carolina so the heat just felt like home. Real Texans my age and older rolled out the welcome mat for me. Still pals with many peoole in Corpus…Been many years ago but my biggest regret was leaving there. Same company sent me to another site. I spent time in Dallas, Houston and many other cities and literally fell in love with the whole state.. Great People! Great Brisket!
I am originally from corpus. I lived there 20yrs before joining the AF. Went away and when it was time to retire I thought I’d return. I lasted a year before I had to leave. The local government sucks. Taxpayer money is being wasted. Roads are horrible. And the crime is terrible. There is no way I’d ever look to live in corpus ever again. It’s trash. San Marcos, New Braunsfels are way better choices.
I grew up in Corpus Christi and it's one of the worst places to live. It used to be pretty good in the early 90's. The weather is crap hot as hell 100 or over most times winters are 50's and wet. I see that you mention driving ..... Corpus has a record of the worst drivers besides Houston. Half of them don't have insurance or licenses. Another fact about Corpus is the new harbor bridge... was built by a company who had a bridge collapse. The school systems are one of the worst in the country. The only thing I can say about Corpus is the food is great and 4th of July fireworks are a must see, that's if you can find parking. The crime rate and drugs flooding Corpus is at an all time high. Murders are a constant thing in Corpus usually domestic violence cases. ROACHES... they are everywhere but to be expected since Corpus expansion. I heard nicest people ??? Since when ? Pay sucks and so does most of the jobs there unless you are going into oilfield, medical or refineries. sorry to be so negative but there hasn't been much change especially the gang related issues still there form the 90's.
I've been living in Corpus for almost 4 years now and agree pretty much with everything you said. Positive things I can say is great food, beaches that aren't to crowded in comparison to other states. Mild winters where don't have to drive on ice. Like you said most jobs aren't great unless your in the oilfield. I e of the biggest things I hate are peoples driving. People drive reckless going 80 to 90 miles an hour for no reason at all. Glad I live on the outskirts now where the traffic isn't a big factor anymore. Also I feel like a lot of people here are the fake kind of friendly. They'll say hi how you doing but actually don't want to engage in a real conversation.
@@markheatherton3294 This is true but this isn't a big city of course and shouldn't have the impact of worrying about whether your going to get shot on the south side because you don't live on the west or the Bluff. Been there done that. lets talk about the POLICE in Corpus..... I love the security they provide out there even if your the victim your were still at fault. facts ... take a look at all the tickets and court appearances from city records. drivers there are still driving like animals just like in other cities around Texas but just as worse as Houston. Anyone that has actually grown up in Texas can testify to that. Not saying you didn't grow up there but you know as well as I do that its true. Corpus is my home town and I want it better than it is right now and they need to do more but city wont do it. They need to repave the streets in these neighbor hoods that have older areas not just the highways. They need to put more effort in getting the drug addicts out of the hotels so vacationist can actually use them without fear of their car getting stolen. Just happened a few years ago on multiple occasions right off S.P.I.D.
Just so everyone knows I absolutely love living in Corpus Christi Tx, I’m not bitching about it, I’m just letting people that are moving from out of state what they can expect weather and taxes differences and so on because these are questions I have been asked several times before by clients moving from out of state to Corpus Christi TX
if your video kept 1 Californian from moving here to our state - then God bless you... the point you make about people holding doors, and being civil and polite in conversation - with a bigger city and still yet a small town feel - gotta love that. and you're right -that's not for everybody...
No worries Brother...your just telling it like it is, warts and all...like any TRUE Texan will tend to do from time to time. I to am a Son of Texas and Proud of my State...but it's always good to know where ya have room for improvement and in this age of Interwebs and such vocalizing these truths is more akin to(and more effective) going to a City Hall to redress your Opinion and grevience. I pay attention to someone who recognizes the areas that need improvement and warnings from someone who loves where they hail, more than someone belly aching just to get clicks. You don't impress me as such. God Bless Texas
My 2 cents, I have a property in Port Aransas and am in the area frequently. Corpus Christi has considerably more violent crime and gang activity than Austin (which is considerably larger). There are many areas of town that are impacted by the environmental pollution of the refineries and chemical plants. Additionally, being a coastal city, everything is in an accelerated process of corrosion. Your vehicles and homes are going to require constant maintenance.
4 generations of my family have been born in Corpus Christi & still live here. My Dad migrated to the Texas Hill Country a few yrs ago. 10-11 months of Summer & January. Lol. October is a great weather month. Snow has happened, but we're back in flip flops within about 3-4 days & headed to the beach. July-Sept is definitely better spent in air conditioning or a pool mainly because, even though the wind here wasn't mentioned, the Gulf Breeze is what keeps it cool & it just seems to stop in those months. Also, bad hair days due to the wind and humidity are common so just invest in hats, scrunchies, barrettes, etc. We are one of the most windy places. CC is also part of the birding trail & we have almost every imaginable bird come through here in Spring & Autumn so get some binoculars. Hazel Bazemore park in Calallen (our natural coastal hill area) even has Hawk Watch until Nov. For mosquitoes, buy some mosquito dunks or mosquito bits and invite Purple Martins which will eat their weight in bugs. There are DynaTrap machines that work, too. Those June bugs (Japanese beetles) seem to arrive earlier each yr. They are a pain, but not dangerous. Fire Ants are a different story & those brown scorpions are no joke. CC is definitely the biggest small town around & we will definitely strike up conversation in checkout lines or anywhere else. As for hurricanes, after my parents rode out Celia in '70, our family decided that hurricanes were our cue from God to take a trip to the Hill Country. Be warned about pot holes. We pay street fees, but our city still looks like we're testing missiles in many areas, unfortunately. Invest in car washes due to the salt air causing them to rust, too. I love my home town. No place is perfect, but living in Houston for 2 yrs sent me rt back hm yrs ago. If I ever do leave, I'm headed towards the hill country area like my Dad.
As a native Texan, we should do a PSA like this every year for every town and city in Texas targeted specifically at people thinking about moving here from California.
One of the biggest reasons I wouldn't move to Corpus Christi is the thread of a bad hurricane. That's one of the reasons why I moved from Florida too. I prefer to live in San Antonio TX. But I do love visiting the Corpus area. I absolutely love padre island.
there are no hurricanes here, i have lived there for 18 years and only 1 has hit, and even then where i lived it was just rain and wind, that's about it
Live outside Albuquerque, we go from -40 to +130, our monsoon season is between its 120-135f with 80-100%+ humidity, and month long sustained winds of over 60-120mph Sounds like corpus christi is on easy mode
CC is not so bad. Born and raised. Slow compared to the bigger citys. Weather not to dramatic. 40 is cold to us. Once you've seen better you realize how behind we are. Still not super bad move unless you're trying to be rich. Opportunities for big dreamers is a killer here. Realize were you are. If you you make 6 figures your money goes so much further here compared to CA! Goodluck......
FYI: I am originally from NY (Long Island) and now live in Corpus Christi (I love it!) and I hold doors open for everyone always. Southerners do not have a monopoly on friendliness.
The cost of living is waaaaaaaaay cheaper than N.Y and Cali. You can buy 2 houses here for the price of one in CC. That is what two of my friends did when they retired. One retired on the Island from NY and loves it. Who in hell loves to shovel snow? lol
Corpus is so ugly man, streets are really bad. The city stinks. The beach suck and not a good looking one but I also understand the ppl that come from the upper cities because they don’t have a beach and they get excited. But there is many more reasons Corpus Christi sucks. I recommend the upper cities like San Antonio, Austin, Dallas,Houston just to name a few. Other than that the weather is perfect in my opinion. House prices and apartment prices are competitive. And some good places to go so you won’t get bored.
I heard about scorpions, alligeries, taxes , traffic, untilies. These are common to any city in any state. I lived on North Padre island in the 90s. My business took ke around the US, so Ive been gone a long time. I really enjoyed living on a canal home, fishing from my dock, boating the intercoastal, going to the beach. I really enjoyed the seafood and Joe Cottons BBQ. Im actually considering moving back since i recently retired. Ive lived in mostly large Metro areas including Las Vegas. Corpus Christi is a small city/ big town and thats part of its appeal. Lastly, i have very personal connection. My first ancestor came to America in 1720. Captain Blas DeLa Garza Falcon has a statue of him on horseback on the bay front. Im as Texas as you get.
You following me?!? 😂. I also lived in Corpus in the 90s, my career took me away and I lived in Vegas for 6 years. Corpus isn't a high end town, but it's a very cost effective laid back coastal area with great fishing. I'm a decade from retirement and I'll settle in the Corpus/Rockport area.
I been living in Corpus Christi for 28 years, my last 2 children were born here, the oldest born in El Paso TX there was horrible, I move here because I had family here that I did not see for 20 years since my parents separated, I love to live here, I live in the south side, it’s great houses are not so expensive, I got my house 21 years ago, I was a widow with 3 small children, the neighbors and neighborhood are great, when I got my house was great, now I remarried, and I still living in the same neighborhood, love it, I can’t make it in a bigger place and I have great doctors, H‑E‑B’s, Walmart’s, the only thing is the heat in summer but I don’t get out until is dark, everything is close SA is 2 hours away, Houston 4h, I think it depends if you like beaches, parks, rivers, museums, we have that, we have community college’s and T&M CC University, it’s not expensive my children went there and I too. Thanks
I live here in Corpus Christi all my life. Yes the taxes are very high. Also this is known for pothole city and the seawall is always full of dog poop and gum. They don’t even clean it. It’s a shame that it has a beautiful name Corpus Christi, the body of Christ, but they treat it like trash like I said, pothole city.
@@duskintheforest584 Not that I know of...but I have a lot of relatives(distant) that I don't even know about, and they live in Texas, Arkansas, Tenn, and Alabama
Lives in CC 38 years since birth I hate every minute of it. Hurricanes aren’t even an issue, bad streets, bad city management, one mall, one freeway, one type of restaurant chain, only thing to do with kids are movies and bowling and those are a 2 hour wait. SA is much better.
"We say in Corpus that it takes 20 minutes to get anywhere." "We say that in Dallas, too. Do they also say in Corpus, "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute." I also hear that everywhere I've lived. It's like no matter where you live, most perceive things the same way.
22 yr old man who was born and still lives in cc and it’s for sure one of the best ocean front city in America . I personally like a smaller community where we all look out for eachother and corpus is perfect. It’s not small and it’s not big , but we can all see it’s been growing constantly for 5 years straight. Our ocean drive has been re-done now thier buildimg more off Yorktown heading into flour bluff . I’m the next 5-8 years corpus population will almost double
@@sylviacrafts6704 well idk what side of corpus your on but here on the south we got a new Del Mar campus , a whole new retail section off Yorktown . A whole new housing division where the botanical gardens are. They’re redoing all the schools . Have you seen the new massive apartments on ocean drive that are fully stacked. Go by London highschool and see how much it has grown . Corpus is definitely going to be bigger after all the roads and bridges are done. Which is another 3-5 years. I been living in Corpus Christi for 27years and it's not bad at all. But if you are going to move to Texas . You I'm would want to live in Flour Bluff because it is not that hot cuz it is close to the water and if you live in the city it is hot
I moved here to Corpus Christi with my husband 33 years ago .... I grew up in Vermont ... the summers here in Corpus Christi (to me) last from May 1st thru September nearly into October ... the not sweltering hot part of the year is only a bit more than 1/2 the year. It is a nice friendly place overall ... just a tough transition if you're used to 4 seasons!
The drivers stink down here. People get insurance just long enough to get their drivers license then drop it. Don't park near anyone because your car will get banged up and ruined by some drunk.
@@Lavonne1 which place is safe and good for schooling ( schooling with diversity), i am planning to move in CC with kids under 10, I am nerves, if it is a good move
@Fayyaz Ahmad I can only speak from my perspective. I'm a single black man, Christian, veteran, and senior designer. I lived in CC from June 2022 to Jan 2023. A little Hispanic girl was shot and killed right in front of her father on New years look it up. It looks like 90% Hispanic. Probably more than 50 to 60. For me, as a black man, it wasn't that friendly. I lived on Ennis Joslin Street. I don't know the area, but it seems like the island part of CC is the nicest. I've driven through it once. Could be wrong, but that part seems to be white. But I didn't see many people when I drove through. I think the closer you get to the island and / or the shoreline, the nicer. Diversity? I mean, if something is 90% Hispanic, does that mean diverse? The drivers are horrible. There are no jobs in my field here. That is just my field. It's extremely 🔥 🥵. I'm a home body and don't get out that much, but it seems like the streets of most of the city are bad. Tore up except the nice neighborhoods. It's impressive, lol. The bugs are bad. My suggestion is to coat yourself. Tons of construction 🚧. If you're moving from out of state, excuse my language, and you will be rped with car registration. It's amazing and I have a 10 year old car. If you're coming from out of state, it's backward. You need to register or have a car before you can get a license. ???????????? It is literally backward. The food is not that great. Service is not good. I may return or even buy land. If I do, it will be on the island. But i love water. I would live on the island or Port of Aransas. I think Port of A, which is next to CC, is the CC experience I think I wanted. Listen to the police scanner. I do. You gonna be around brown people. It's a Hispanic area. Are they accepting of others... ?????????. I'm not sure if you are Indian or Arab. I'm moving to Farmers Branch, tx. I have never seen so mean Indian and Arab people in my life. So head here if you are. It's like most of population. Long story short ... try the Island part of CC or Port of Aransas. Those certainly mad expensive.
I really wish I could move to Corpus Christi to live there. Unfortunately that's not possible, but at least I can spend my next vacation there. In October I will visit this beautiful city for 14 days.
Having moved to Corpus from Houston, I can tell you the humidity is MUCH worse in Houston. In Corpus, its effects are reduced by the pervasive breezes off the bay. We can sit comfortably outside in August at 6:00 PM. Sure, it's pretty warm, but it's entirely doable. You wouldn't dream of trying that in Houston until late October. My main issue with CC is the medical - it's total crap compared to Houston, or even Victoria. Six-month wait to get in with a new GP. Specialists that won't see you without a referral, and then won't take referrals from out-of-town doctors. Cancer doctors who can't get you in for two months after a positive diagnosis. An orthopedic group whose computer system can't deal with you seeing two of their specialists on the same day. Forms filled out on-line, then you have to fill out the same forms again in person when you get there. And on and on. Small wonder lots of people travel to San Antonio or Houston for their medical. Oh yes, and the streets - horrible, just horrible. Also, my allergies in CC are about 80% better than they were in Houston. Don't get me started on Houston traffic vs. Corpus.
We tried to do what you are doing for Seattle. We had a movement we called “Lesser Seattle.” We told everyone that it rains all the time and is gray and depressing. We told everybody that the traffic was terrible, people were cold and unfriendly, and it was very expensive to live here. It didn’t work. People moved here by the thousands. Especially from California. Now it’s even worse here. I applaud your efforts to discourage people from moving to Corpus. I doubt you are fooling anyone though. And you are correct. People are way too polite and friendly in Corpus. Makes you wonder. I am a senior citizen and whenever I visit Corpus, young people are always holding the door and saying, “after you, Sir.” It’s very irritating.
Depends on where your at. I use to work at a piping company in North corpus near Agnes street. In the morning you will come across some hiding in the pipes. Their nocturnal so chances are slim encountering one unless it sneaks into your house or if you work outdoors.
Nice video and good info! Originally I’m from a small town in the Midwest and am currently in Phoenix for work. Visited Corpus last year and really liked it. I might end up moving there within a year. Phoenix is way too hot in the summer, cold in the winter, crowded, polluted, dusty and the traffic is awful! I’m finally done with living in LA east as many call it here. The people in Corpus sound like where I grew up (very friendly and down to earth) and not like the people in Phoenix who seem to be from big cities (mostly LA and Chicago) with no idea what living in a smaller town should feel like.
Another note if you want to stay in a relatively nice hotel your better off renting a beach house because the meth addicts have taken them over and they get raided all the time.
Southside awesome it’s still lots of new construction over here. I’ve got a couple videos. Are we coming out next week and the week after on the southside
Worked the ER here and WOW lots of drinking and driving here. Wrecks everday all day and deadly motorcycle crashes. Lots of gun shot wounds for a smaller city. Pot holes and unmarked speed bumps too. Super fun lol.
I moved in 7 years ago. I live on the south side at the end of Cimarron. Its a great place to raise kids. Compared to Alice (my home town) its a great community.
I know I can’t be the only one who thinks all of these “don’t move here” videos are made by folks that just want to keep out of towners away from “their” hidden gems 💎!!! My black ass is moving to CC ASAP! 😂😂😂
0:24 I live in Houston. It was 104 today in my neighborhood, and Corpus was 93. Rent is way cheaper cheaper, so your 'First Off' has me not concerned. 12:16 As I runner, flat is perfect. I don't drive, so far you have me sold. I have 41 more subscribers than you, all 225 of my videos combined have not reached your view count of this video (I don't think).
Corpus the most boring city ive lived in. If you dont know anyone there you will find it very hard to make friends. Nothing to do but go to the beach. Downtown is DEAD
Great Video, I grew up in Corpus and live in Oregon now. Neighborhood roads filled with pot holes in every neighborhood. You better speak Spanish if you want a job. homes and energy are very cheap but wages are horrible. Homeless camps are much fewer in Corpus but Knife crime and break-ins are more common so you must conceal carry and fence or gate your property. Roaches are the size of cats so you better call Orkin. Stay away from the West Side its little Mexico down there not safe. I still Love the Gulf Coast and come visit multiple times a year, Texas is a much better place to live half the year than Oregon that's for sure.
Funny thing. I've been in CC for 2.5 years and it's not a bad place. There's stupid people everywhere but all in all I have had Zero problems here. The traffic can suck but so what. It sucks everywhere. On the other hand there are entirely too many invaders coming here and it is getting crowded. Very crowded. But as long as I can find spots to fish I'm good. Okay one drawback. There is a horrifying lack of attractive women my age. I mean fat.. flabby.. wrinkled up old women. I'm from Dallas and this is a bitter pill for me.
Hey after I was stuck in traffic for hours in Austin I swore I would never complain about our little traffic again and I haven’t since LOL so traffic is not that bad compare to other cities!!
And how do you look? I’m betting not like Tom Selleck. Maybe you should have brought your own woman with you. Or maybe you’re looking in the wrong places for the wrong reasons.
It's flat but have you been to neighborhoods off 624 or Up River Rd/Lamar Park area? I know the difference after living in DFW, but take a ride in the neighborhoods of the NW. I call them the lost hills of STX. Being a former skateboarder. I still cruise it sometimes. There are some ridiculously steep hills on streets in neighborhoods off Red River Rd and the surrounds. I agree with almost everything else. I do find many drivers are becoming more courteous over the years. There are still folks with anger issues out there. But it's gotten so much better over the years. I learned to be courteous driving in Austin in the late 90s and early 2000s. Don't mind slowing down to let someone in or stopping to let someone out of a parking lot after the light turns green. I see many others doing that these days
Yes please don't. I am born & raised here. Always hated the heat. I would not live Anywhere else we are farming ranching area. It's is hot & humid buy hardly ever have a winter. We will be shifting to corpus christi in a few months, i am really not sure if its a good decision with kids below 10 years. And i have seen many videos on crime rate too
I would move to Corpus just to talk to this guy! He's straight up and full on Southern, which is something I was concerned about since Texas is Texas, and whether or not you actually get Southern is a flip of the coin. I lived in Galveston and San Antonio. Galveston was a bit of a dump and poorly run, while San Antonio had a great feel to it, and I loved the food. Neither felt Southern, but Galveston occasionally did. If you were at a coffee house and someone got a call on their phone they would often step outside to talk. That NEVER happens outside the South. I've been thinking of moving to Corpus since 1985, this may be the year it happens.
Where is a place to find affordable apartments without drugs and bugs in Corpus? Is there violence or gangs there? I am hoping to move there but have heard so many scary things but all towns got that so open to finding out more.
@@actual_doge3221 not homesick but I’m getting older and I don’t want to die here. The other issue is the U.S government taxes Americans living overseas and I get taxed by the Japanese government as well.
My friend moved to Corpus Christi from San Diego , and he can’t wait to afford coming back , he says San Diego is on another level compared to that place
I have lived here my entire life, nearly four decades and have yet to see a scorpion that wasn't in glass. I don't understand why people say scorpions are here. Down here they are talked about the same way bobcats are talked about. If one is seen, it's a major thing.
Rockport is a great place to retire compared to Corpus. A lot smaller in population and much safer then Corpus. Only problem is all of the major Hospitals are in Corpus.
I've lived in Corpus Christi all my life except for a four year Navy stunt. I must admit we have the worst drivers in America, and if you like living in a sauna then this is the place for you.
Lived in CC for 10 years, graduated from high school there as well. It was a good place to live in my stretch of the 1960's to early 70's. It lost its charm when responsibilities came in. Groceries and utilities became outrageously expensive when trying to live on hourly pay. I left in '77, and miss it somewhat....had fun there. In contrast with those good times, the city's social environment has really gone downhill. Infrastructure is suffering, too. However, there's still something for everyone there. Just don't plan on getting rich if you stay a wage slave.
spring pollen is a problem most everywhere, but as i remember, the wind off the gulf blows inland, blows the pollen away I was stationed there in the late 70s, the best part was the so called winter, please, more like a mild fall. I remember cock roaches were a problem and yes there are less bugs here in the north, but it can get hot here in the summer too. good food, nice ocean breeze and no freezing, don't forget the dunes... and many places to vacation/visit in Texas; it u a young fella, college g@ls from Texas A&M university. bad storms, some bugs, humidity and there are a LOT more people compared to the 70s.
I have lived in Corpus for 45 years. Everyone has their own opinion. I love Corpus.
I moved here in 95 from Rockport and have loved it every sense.
Yes but violence is crazy here
@Ghost Gaming Not really... Most of the violence happens on the west side of town in the LA Molina Central City areas.
@@Salty_Vet Also not only the violence it’s dirty as hell and the city is not taking care of. Also the schools are horrible.

😅 that's how I still give directions
Buddy. I can't argue with that. Might even throw in a Dollar General, or local eatery.
Lol. I like Whataburger and HEB The last time I was in Corpus went to Whataburger decades ago. I remember when a friend lived there we freaked out about the scorpion in the kitchen and one time in Austin too. I remember when I lived in C A we had some scary spiders
I really liked port Aransas and Port Isabel and so Padre island decades ago too
I liked the shell shops and also those in Galveston too
I was born and raised here and love it.
Sounds like North Beach area.

Austin's great! I'm working here for a little while at the new Tesla factory, but you don't realize how great Corpus is until you're away.
It’s trash. San Marcos, New Braunsfels are way better choices.
corpus christi is a great place to live
Honestly Corpus is one of the best cities I have ever lived in. I got stationed there, and ended up staying another 3 years.
💯💯💯
Raiden, everything you talked about can be said in Honolulu or LA or Chicago but you don't shovel snow in CC
@@markheatherton3294 This is true but this isn't a big city of course and shouldn't have the impact of worrying about whether your going to get shot on the south side because you don't live on the west or the Bluff.

Only upper middle class and above enjoy Corpus. You don't have to live in the filth.

I live in Corpus Christi for 48 years decided to move and I hate being away from Corpus
One of the biggest reasons I wouldn't move to Corpus Christi is the thread of a bad hurricane. That's one of the reasons why I moved from Florida too. I prefer to live in San Antonio TX. But I do love visiting the Corpus area. I absolutely love padre island.

The cost of living is waaaaaaaaay cheaper than N.Y and Cali. You can buy 2 houses here for the price of one in CC. That is what two of my friends did when they retired. One retired on the Island from NY and loves it. Who in hell loves to shovel snow? lol
Yes cost of living is manageable here especially if on a fixed income.

I was born in San Antonio, but had a lot of relatives there 10 yrs. It's so difficult to judge Corpus. Every town has troubles

I love it here. I grew up in Beeville. But after the Army I came here to go to CCSU, now TAMU-CC. I’ve loved it here and will probably die here❤️❤️
I moved in 7 years ago. I live on the south side at the end of Cimarron. Its a great place to raise kids. Compared to Alice (my home town) its a great community.
That is great area to live.
I LIVE HERE AND THATS A BEAUTIFUL PART TO LIVE
@@jahvincikingdamani4718 we dont even have to leave our immediate area. We have everything we need
@@southtxroughneck113 IT WAS MEANT TO BE THAT WAY DUE TO THE INNER CITY CRIME THAT HAS PLAGUED CC SINCE THE MID 90’S
@JAHVINCI KING DAMANI Sadly, crime is everywhere. And ppl cant drive for shit lol
I know I can’t be the only one who thinks all of these “don’t move here” videos are made by folks that just want to keep out of towners away from “their” hidden gems 💎!!! My black ass is moving to CC ASAP! 😂😂😂
CC is racist. ⚫s are only 4% of the American population.
Living in Kingsville for decades. Everybody is friendly.
Yes I absolutely agree I like going over there sold several homes In Kingsville and Rivera all nice folks
I want to build a home in my Hometown Sarita, and a house in corpus too.
70f isn't cold...
Corpus the most boring city ive lived in.
If you dont know anyone there you will find it very hard to make friends.
Nothing to do but go to the beach.
Downtown is DEAD
I did not hear anything negative about Corpus in this video. Actually, it made me look forward to visiting
WON: Least walkable city on the world…!
Congratulations !
Yes Corpus Christi Tx dose have its problems, But all in all it's still a great place to live.
Lmfao yasssss hahahahahahahah reading this comment I’m like Yup, YUP, YUP YUP 😂😂😂😂😂 I hate it here but my husband refuses to move so here i am!!! Lol
I'm glade you’re over all experience with Corpus Christi Tx has been good!!! It is a great place to get away and be able to go fishing.
Hey after I was stuck in traffic for hours in Austin I swore I would never complain about our little traffic again and I haven’t since LOL so traffic is not that bad compare to other cities!!
You try something else I’m 5 foot6 140 pounds slim fit athletic body
And how do you look? I’m betting not like Tom Selleck. Maybe you should have brought your own woman with you. Or maybe you’re looking in the wrong places for the wrong reasons.
Invaders? You mean asylum seekers and immigrants, right? And your dna is all indigenous peoples. What you posted is racist.
70 dagrees is shirtless weather in Michigan
I don’t live in CC but we visit 2 times a year, April and late August. I love the vibe, you’re right, friendly and a slower pace, but not too slow.
Yes please don't. I am born & raised here. Always hated the heat. I would not live Anywhere else we are farming ranching area. It's is hot & humid buy hardly ever have a winter. I am 62 I have seen 4 scorpions. 1000 s of tarantulas. But they eat all kinds of bugs. We r growing but I don't want to share😂❤❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂
I love Texas.& corpus christi.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
Water is pretty warm in December. Cold as river only from mid Feb to April. BUT you are on spot about allergies. It isnt pollen. Its refineries and Sahara Dust.
Grew up there ,,lived there on an off ,but moving back since I reired .Live in OKC now we get hail, tornadoes ,ice storms ,even the cold spell we had here it was 5 ,10 ,16,low compared to Corpus 15 ,21 ,30 .Gets hot here but I can deal with the heat in Corpus always a good breeze.
Yes Corpus Christi usually has a good breeze
Can you plz suggest some good schools here
I can’t say but if you go www.niche.com you can lookup schools in Corpus Christi.
@@thekhanzz The Calallen , Flour Bluff and London districts are better than Corpus Christi district, all of them are still in the Corpus city limits.
Love the video. Thank you for sharing.
Do you know if the electric companies buy back solar energy from solar panels on your roof there?
snows every 10 or so years, even then very little
Where is a place to find affordable apartments without drugs and bugs in Corpus? Is there violence or gangs there? I am hoping to move there but have heard so many scary things but all towns got that so open to finding out more.
I’m retired vet living in Tokyo but I’m planning on my back to the states. I’m more concerned with the crime rate
Are you going back to the States due to home sickness? I have always wanted to visit Japan.
Used to live in Portland and work in rockport. We loved corpus and want to go back. We’ll be back when the bridge is finished lol
I have lived here my entire life, nearly four decades and have yet to see a scorpion that wasn't in glass. I don't understand why people say scorpions are here. Down here they are talked about the same way bobcats are talked about. If one is seen, it's a major thing.
Lived here over 20 years. I've seen two scorpions and one bobcat. Still very rare.
98F that's it? It's 112F by 8AM.
It's not where you live, it's who you live with that matters
Don't let anybody fool you - Corpus Christi DOES have a winter season. And I enjoyed both days of winter this year...
anything good to say about Rockport for retirement
Rockport is a great place to retire compared to Corpus. A lot smaller in population and much safer then Corpus. Only problem is all of the major Hospitals are in Corpus.
I love CCTX,
Maybe if you move to midwest you will be much happier.
Noone is forced to live anywhere sir!
I've lived in Corpus Christi all my life except for a four year Navy stunt.
I must admit we have the worst drivers in America, and if you like living in a sauna then this is the place for you.
Yes the humidity here makes it seem so much worse at times.
There’s just no progression here in Corpus.
I live in San Pat co and I chose my electric company, you really don’t have to use their power
spring pollen is a problem most everywhere, but as i remember, the wind off the gulf blows inland, blows the pollen away
I was stationed there in the late 70s, the best part was the so called winter, please, more like a mild fall.
