I used to lighten my hair w peroxide as a teen. Lol I never used baking soda, just the peroxide, a toothbrush and a comb...sunlight makes it even lighter Definitely brings out more gold tones over time. ah! Yes! I am african american so I have Deep brown hair, it is almost black in color. Because of this, I did not think that it would work but it is! It is taking a long time. I want my hair to be a BRIGHT orangey brown from root to tip so I am going to leave it on for most of the day and check on the progress every hour. Thanks so much! Using just peroxide did not work for me last time so your input is appreciated and was effective.

If I could remember I think I had it on for about 3 months until I used a suave shampoo which ruined my hair and I had to make a big chop. That suave shampoo incident had nothing to do with lightening my hair. I have a video of that too.
