Good quality wheels without a badge are far better than a badged set of wheels like the zipps. All I see in the biking world is marketing BS, but I think many are becoming happier ordering direct from china now
There is so much more in the world to complain about then marketing from legitimate businesses selling their products. Misinformation on social media about health, nutrition, dieting, pharmaceutical treatments for disease, vaccines, climate change, ..etc is rampant. Push back on that! The world's economy consists of profit making enterprises. Get over it. Communism is not going to happen anytime soon. There are regulatory organizations and laws to keep excessively misleading advertising in check.

Oh the sealant hack is great! I randomly tried using a generic cheap motorcycle sealant on both gravel and road wheels, and aside from thickness it worked great
I came off my road/gravel bike on a wet road, barely lent over, with FinishLine's non-latex "never dries out" sealant that had seeped through a porous Schwalbe G-One Speed TLE. This sealant was as slick as oil, so I will be going back to a latex sealant on these tyres.
These wheels do look amazing. Hard to believe we are still being sold 2000-3000 carbon wheels. I personally went with Elite wheels (Pro36), slightly heavier, asymmetric, similar high quality build. Also well reviewed by you guys. You are doing a great service bringing attention to such great products.
OKO has been used for motorcycle racing for decades. I've had a number of punctures when racing, but thanks to OKO I never even new about them, just the tell tale creamy white speck on the tread.
Just took delivery of some Farsports/Wheelsfar wheels and they arrived in some very similar cloth wheel bags. Can't wait to ride them, they look/feel great (could be a while until weather is suitable though🤞)
Interesting comments on the use of carbon rims in rougher terrrain especially regarding those sidewall rockstrikes.

Totally agree with the mtb specific sealant rip off. Been using Oko offroad sealant (watered down) on my mtb for years and its been great. Love the standard of your reviews, best out there.

If your antifreeze contains ethylene glycol maybe propylene glycol would be a safer alternative.
@@PeakTorquewhat brand nipples type are you using? I think the antifreeze is a good idea and better the some big brand sealants. Have you tried PVA with a water dilution, mate swears by it and I'm tempted to try it

OKO tractor tyre sealant is the stuff, I've used it exclusively on my MTBs and gravel bike for years and has sealed some impressively big slashes in my tyres

I think milKit is made by OKO and I have found it really good. I don't like natural latex sealants as they dry out; milKit/OKO can be refreshed with water.
20ml of milKit in my commuter butyl tube means I only have to inflate every couple of weeks!

The shop I last worked in uses it for multiple road wheels that were set up for tubeless, not really any issues as far as I know of.

Hello Mr. Peak Torque. Can you specify the chemical (anti freeze) you use to dilute OKO sealant? A product link would also be very helpful! I live in Finland and I am not a native English speaker. Therefore I don´t know whether "anti freeze" usually refers to some specific chemical/compound or a broader category of products. I managed to found OKO Off-Road in Finland and I´d like to dilute it with something else than water since winters here are quite cold. If you can link some suitable product to use or specify the chemical, I am sure I can find the equivalent here. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the advice on oko sealent with tubeless was not trusting getting sealent and just running as a clincher now due only one wheelset currently but later with multiple set for cx/gravel/road uses may give this a try if it ships to west coast North America or in car parts stores instead of TPU tubes. How much should it water down for bicycle use?

I just built up some goldix hubs with the 60 engagement dt internal to funrun 39 asym 30 ext, 25 internal carbon rims and sapim cxray spoke for road. 1266 grams for the wheelset.
There's no point in using a high engagement hub for a road wheelset, is there? The high number of engagement points just increases drag when coasting.
That is how they spec their high end hub, the sound is sick. Agree, high engagement is not necessary for road.
Have you noticed how hub soundchecks on road bikes are all the rage. 😅😂😅😂

Knowing PT, he’d recommend 9Velo in a heartbeat just based on design quality. The elites are “higher performance” but the 9V hubs fully encircle the spokes, which is safer than Elite’s open-spoke hole design on their hubs

Another great review. They offer options on the hubs for either 36T or 54T - I seem to remember you saying previously that you don’t see the point in higher-teeth hubs?
Higher engagement only makes sense for MTB if you're doing technical climbs and need to adjust pedal position with immediate engagement during a climb. Otherwise it just sounds cool. I run 36 for everything except my trail bike.

Also, the higher points of engagement rings have a reputation of being somewhat more fragile and easier to damage. Stick with the basic one.
Yep, 36 or even 18 is completely fine for a road bike. And for the 54 'fragility', I think this is just in relation to the bulletproof lower tooth count, they are still super strong compared to a 3-pawl system.

Since this video lacks nitpicking, here is some: you either keep the helmet strapped, or take off entirely - keeping like this is sloppy and potentially dangerous.
And with regards to tech, disc mount lacks locating edge, also missing extra notch on the bead seat, 7 spokes still got out of permissible tension. Also, what is the aformentioned axial tolerance chain, is one of the bearings semi-floating like with DT? What about freehub compatibility - is it proprietary and can be ordered through their website only?
Lastly, 1250 ml is the smallest OKO offers in Europe (which is already an overkill for most riders) for 29 Euros plus 15 (!?) shipping - absolutely not competitive with 21+4 per liter of Conti Revo.
Unfortunately, chemicals are a product you have to use whatever is local. The industry is overregulated and protected with duties, maybe even more than food.

I went on the OKO site and their 1.25 liter off-road sealant is pretty much the same price as their MTB sealant, and the same price as Muc-Off. Where do you get it "3 or 4 times as cheap"?

@@PeakTorque, yeah, I didn't consider the diluting in the cost estimate. No non-MTB OKO on Amazon here in the US; it seems to be sold mainly from their website, or in 25 liter containers at a few other farming retailers. Weird you can buy it so cheap in the UK...
Still, if it's better than Muc-Off (what I currently have), I'm happy to give it a go.
@@MiserereMeiHow do you find Muc-odd sealant? I am disappointed with them totally, I had 1mm holes it didn't seal at all. The only good part is that it is easy to clean.
@@wayslow, well, the thing with sealant is that it's hard to evaluate it when it's working, but easy to evaluate when it's not working. The only issue I've had in the 15 months I've been using it was a small tear right on the rim, which is a hard place for sealant to get to. Getting off the bike and lifting it up I managed to get enough sealant on there that I made it to the parking lot about 30 mins away.
On the sealant what is your ratio of sealant to water?
70:30 ish. But antifreeze, not water. Or it'll freeze in winter.

Great wheels, I have the 35mm gravel set - no weight limit, 4 year warranty. I recently had the ratchet ring in the rear hub strip after 3 months of use so I got in touch and they sent me an entire new hub assembly with fresh nipples and a US$100 refund!! I rebuilt the wheel myself as I worked as a wheel builder for 2 years and wasn't going to trust anyone else to do it. For those asking how they get the no weight limit - the rims have no spoke assembly hole - you have to use a magnet and a little bit of spoke to get the nipples into each spoke hole which must be a real pain for the people in the factory. Great wheels though. Built super well and great value.
@richosti I understand that you were satisfied with their response, but it isn't really worrying and questionable about the quality to strip a ratchet ring in three months? I actually never heard something like this before
@@MH-js8vb Maybe but I don't think so. It is likely just a poorly threaded ring or hub that was missed during their QA - these things happen!

Aluminium nipples are an excellent sacrificial element in a wheel system, often saving the rim from damage. I know they saved my rims multiple times I managed to lift branches of the ground and throw them into my own wheels (bad luck).
Al spoke nipples should never be used with carbon rims. They will incrementally corrode due to redox and have to be replaced. With carbon rims, Brass is the only way to go, a lifetime nipple.
@@michaelclements4664 sure, they corrode even on alu rims, I accept the necessity for replacement every year or two rather than breaking the rim. I ride my bike in harsh conditions and difficult terrain, so this kind of maintenance is normal to me.

A fine appraisal of the wheels, the zooming in and out and that basket on the front of the bike are quite the distraction for my tiny brain though, audio only makes more sense.
As much as I like your videos, I have to disagree with you on OKO sealant. This sealant works well to seal porous tyres, but when you get a puncture, this stuff just leaks slowly thru the hole, it doesn't dry. I had two sealants from OKO on with and one without fibre, both were rubbish. I'm happy to send you 3 Litres of that sealant, as I bought 5L from Planet X. I have used it on my gravel bike (650x 50) 27psi on 30 internal width rims.
Shame they don't come in non boost 😢
Their wheels are around the price of my handmade wheels and are potentially nicer. The only thing is I have a power meter.
Honestly dude, You can't rate any carbon MTB wheels for Enduro/DH unless you've used Crankbrothers E11 rims. I work for a company that sponsors a World Cup Enduro and DH team and the riders have all said they would seriously consider changing teams if we moved away from Crankbrothers rims. They are specific front/rear lay-up, width, spoke count and are only 19mm high-ED. They are ridiculously compliant, cause significantly less pinch flats, and our top 20 EWS racers didn't break one rim in an entire season. They are stupidly expensive but honestly, get yourself a set.

@@PeakTorque I don't know. CB has a patent on the basic shape (low height with reinforced eyelets) but apparently a number of brands are coming out with something similar soon. It'll be interesting to see if they can without infringement.
A lot of dh riders are still on 25mm internal so I don't see why 30mm for xc is a must have, especially on the rear. Thanks for the review. Would be nice to get this wheelset with the carbon spokes.
