@@teewings8795 lol plsss that was so cute like it reminds us that Wille really is just a kid and can be a bit childish. When he was like oh they support me and my mom said when I turn 18 i can do what I want so we would only be a secret for 2 years. Like it’s that simple. lmao
@@showmoke oh I see. But yeah like the other commenter said, I think it’s likely to get a season 3. Even if season 2 isn’t as successful as season 1, I think they will still get renewed for a 3rd and perhaps final season. Season 1 was so successful and international garnering the show a very strong and passionate following that I think Netflix wouldn’t just cancel it. There’s other popular swedish Netflix shows (Snabba Cash and Kärlek och Anarki) that isn’t nearly as successful as Young Royals that still got renewed. So I think Young Royals will be safe for a 3rd season.
I don't think Felice reacted negatively towards Sara being in a relationship with August so much as she was reacting to the fact that Sara tipped August off that she was the one who figured out he loaded the video to the internet and the fact Sara betrayed her brother.
i don't either, it felt like she was trying to warn sara about august before she found out she was the one who tipped august off. i don't think she would've been that upset with sara for being with him but there were other factors involved.
I think people are just misunderstanding the scenes with their friend group and the dean of their college explaining why they wanted to change rooms. Felice had to make it all about Sara and August because she couldn't say what Sara really did without hurting Wilhelm and bringing it all back up for Simon.
This season was just as addicting as the first one, and I felt like the way the characters were written was even more realistic than in season one (which was already very realistic). The chemistry between the two main characters was insane. The pining was literally palpable through the screen. And the character complexity of Sara is just chef’s kiss.
honest to god i HATED marcus. simon could say 'yeah i dont want to go on a date w you' and marcus literally will go 'aight so you want 6 kids with me' he was not listening at ALL
yeah remember when he brought up Simon's dad tryna say his daddy issues were the problem and not the fact that Simon just wasn't ready for a relationship, ugh did not like marcus
@@commentarychannelenthusias2740 Marcus had potential to be a good friend who was understanding but then I feel like he became entitled and felt like he was owed something from Simon, and that didn’t sit well with me. Cos up until that point Simon hadn’t gotten any justice or even a proper apology for what had happened the previous year and saying he has daddy issues was unwarranted and unacceptable
Tbh I don’t think it’s that Marcus wasn’t listening. He was subtley emotionally manipulating Simon. Simon was still in the wrong for what he did though and always acts like he’s done nothing wrong 🙈💀
I don't think you understand why Simon chose to be a secret again.. he did it because he realized he loved Wilhelm so much he would give up that just to be with him... and that in return showed Wilhelm how much Simon loved him so he decided to come out and admit it was him in the video so it wouldn't be only Simon sacrificing yet again
I agree but don't fully understand why it took Simon so long to realize it. I would have realized it during the Christmas break and tried to get back together with Wille on the first day back at school. True love is rare and a secret true love relationship is better than breaking up.
Why? Why does Simon love Wille so much? I really need to understand 😅 become I don't see it. He should have chosen himself like he did last season. But I guess that would have not been entertaining
@@lee-dowen I think it took Simon so long because he didn't fully trust Wilhelm until Wilhelm offered to give up his throne (S2E5) for Simon. I mean up until that time, when push came to shove, Wilhelm sided with The Crown every time.
Felice's reaction was 100% justified. She wasn't even that mad at Sara until she found out that she was the one that told August Simon was going to the police
What Simon did to Mrakus was a bit shady but honstly I also think Markus was really toxic. Not exepting when Simon told him that he was not ready for anyhing serious and gaslighting him into believing that was because of his father...
August loves Sara for real, he didn’t rat out Sara even with a gun to his head and he sold his heirloom which he wouldn’t even sell to pay his tuition. Also remember he wanted to go public with their relationship on the night of the ball and how disappointed he was when she stood him up. He also told her his deepest secret about the line of succession.
what i also loved was the small details. the callbacks to season 1 (marcus asking about the fish tank, fight in the “piano room”, etc). and how simon kept wilhelm’s shirt with him all the time in his bed and turned the fish tank so he could see it better. little things
I feel like what Simon did with Marcus wasn’t as bad as some people are making it out to be. Like, he told Marcus that he wasn’t ready for something serious, but Marcus ignored him. Simon didn’t want to be with Marcus, he made that clear to him. And honestly, I physically cannot feel bad for Marcus after the things he said to Simon.
Not to mention how Marcus was bringing up all that shit about Simon being scared of turning into his own dad, even though that had nothing to do with why he didn’t want to be Marcus’ boyfriend. It was like he had some weird saviour complex or some shit.
@@silvereyes242 I agree. And I also think he projected his own feelings onto Simon. He liked Simon and saw him as a potential REAL relationship. Simon didn’t.
i cant lie, i was giggling and kicking my feet with the august and sara scenes. they were cute and I will admit it! I do think it was genuine for the both of them, but i do think he was just so blinded by his power-hungriness that he didnt even think about what he was doing and how it would affect her. like i truly believe he was in love and wanted them to be together, but just literally forgot that simon is her brother, and also that he doesnt know how to love and what that means because of his family. like him bringing up the horse when he did was what he thought was love because he was told giving gifts solved everything (presumably since his family was rich but didnt seem to care)
I believe their love is genuine as well. Sara seems to be the only one August truly trusts and the only one he thought would love him for who he is but his love for Sara is not triumph his love for power. When it come to gaining power (aka being the crown prince) he wouldn't let anyone stop him and so he did what he did. I guess because he also think the Sara loves him for who he is she will forgive him for what he did. Really keen to see how the couple will end up in the next season but TBH I really want to be each other endgame because their chemistry is just on point.
Marcus is the ultimate gaslighter.. and I feel like they need to do more with Felice character rather than being the security blanket for wilhelm.. she deserves more. the hookup scene with felice and wilhelm was really weird and uncomfortable for me especially because there is no sexual chemistry between the characters.
Yeah i agree with the comment above there wasn’t supposed to be chemistry, they were both confused. Felice had just gotten over having a crush on him, while Wilhelm got lost in the moment because it reminded him of being intimate with Simon
i think it settled the case of felice used to liking wille in the past and confirming neither likes each other anymore (esp felice) which i’m honestly glad about but i do feel like her character was pushed to the side more in this season.
There was no sexual chemistry because they didn't feel it for each other. Wilhelm only did it because he saw Simon moving on, and he wanted to know if he could have the same feelings for someone else, and she was the only one there. They also made it clear after that Wille has no attraction towards her
I feel like Marcus played himself. Simon told him he wasn’t ready for anything serious and he manipulated him in to staying with him. Also how he just randomly end up in Simon’s room? I reckon he saw the video and decided he wanted to be with him and plotted to be his saviour. I’m glad to see the back of him lol.
@@commentarychannelenthusias2740 yeah like he immediately started trauma dumping like woah and then using it against him when Simon finally called it off. 🚩
sara was the only witness (she actually saw august on the computer that day) and that's why they won't be able to put the blame on that other guy... the reason why august had planned to do so was because there was 'no evidence' that he did it but sara is actually the evidence and the only one who can testify on what had happened. that's my take tho idk if its gonna turn out like that
I didn't think about that, good point 👍 But either way, the stuff with Simon and the drugs are going to come out anyway. He's officially dating the prince, journalists will dig up dirt on him 😓
I think that August is just so incredibly self-centred that he didn't even realise that he was manipulating Sara. That being said, I do believe that he was genuinley falling in love with her and I don't think that he was ever going to rat her out to Wilhelm in THAT scene because he sold his dads stuff to buy a horse for her even when he refused to do that to pay for his own tuition in season 1. TLDR... August is an asshole but he still has feelings for Sara. Also, big up Wilhelm for thinking of Simon's family first for once when he found out Sara helped August, Love some character development.
the characters name is nils, he was there last season and is best friends with vincent and “friends” with august (no one actually is). he was there to show what wilhelm’s life could be like, random hookups and seedy weekends at wealthy locations.
the chemistry between simon and wilhelm is just argggggh And the fact that omar and edvin are such good friends in reallife makes everything so much better
I said it to my friend as well but if you ignore Sara and August’s personalities outside of their relationship, they were actually so cute together? Like they genuinely seemed happy to see the other in their safe spaces (Sara in August’s room and August at the stables) so i do think they genuinely fell in love with each other. I hate August and hated the decisions Sara made but together.. kinda adorable Also, Sara was, before he became the second in line, the only good thing in August’s live after his friends and Wille took everything away from him
Also, I don’t know who was in the writer’s room this season but whoever was holding the pens deserves the biggest raise. All the characters were so well developed yet we also saw so many new flaws? It’s been a while since I’ve seen a show being this well written when it comes to teenagers and their emotions
yeah, they fell in love definitely. thats why at the end this is so painful for both. sarah feels betrayed and disappointed, and august feels abandonned by her. but that doesnt stop him being the real bad person he is. well played Malte
A couple of thoughts: 1. Loved Wilhelm's revenge era, the way he just continued to go against these ancient traditions and the way he looked at August everytime he challenged him! 2. But also, he's so dramatic lmao when he sees that ig story of the karaoke night and gets so emotional over it that he calls his mum and threatens to go live on instagram or go to the press if she doesn't put him on speaker or if they don't accept that he doesn't want to be the king, I was living for it! 3. Ok yes, Simon kissing Wilhelm at the ball when Marcus was there was not great, but I was kinda over Marcus as soon as he pushed Simon to stay in the relationship with him even though Simon told him he wasn't ready. 4. I really wish Felice had her own storyline and wasn't just the supportive friend, even though I loved her and Wilhelm's friendship 5. Madison was not as present as in s1, instead the other two girls became more important? Also, do you think something will come out of the crush the one girl had on the other? 6. I think August's relationship to Sara was real and not manipulated, even though he's a pos this seemed like the only real thing he did 7. I doubt Wilhelm will get booted from the royal family, at least his mum kept saying she'll always support him and put him first but who knows... 8. I think with Nils or whatever his name is they wanted to show there were actually other queer people at the school and he showed Wilhelm another option? Like stay closeted but go on these rich guy vacations idk
For number 7, I think the court would be accused of being homophobic if they did anything against Wille after the speech. Even if they stopped the broadcast, there were a lot of people filming with their phones. They may try other tactics but Sara is going to report August so they won't have a lot of options.
I agree. The way Simon just awkwardly nodded when Marcus was around. But why did Simon even invite him to the ball? Nils was like the person to tell Wilhelm to find someone else.
@@moss_on_mushroom i feel like simon invited marcus to the ball in desperate attempts to get over wilhelm, or maybe even subconsciously to make wilhelm jealous. but simon was completely chill with marcus not going, maybe even forgot about the invitation, until marcus showed up out of nowhere and was like “i changed my mind, we’re going now!!” the reason i think simon was trying to make wilhelm jealous is because the moment that wilhelm shows signs of accepting that he needs to move on, simon goes back to him. at the party wilhelm talks to simon and marcus and tries really hard to act normal, and then simon realizes that that wasn’t what he wanted, he instead wanted to be chased by wilhelm, so he escapes from marcus and goes to find wilhelm. that scene was so powerful to me yet hard to grasp all of the feelings behind it, because when simon finds wilhelm he says something along the lines of “i’m just trying to get over you” and at that point i was screaming at my tv YEAH… WE KNOW! WILHELM FINALLY “ACCEPTED” THAT…
@@junedaniel2981 also, he invited Marcus straight after that fight with Wille. He was clearly still hurt and affected by that and that pushed him towards hanging out and inviting Marcus. I also LOVED that scene at the ball where they have that „I understand, you’re not in love with me anymore. I’ll leave you alone“ moment and I think that was a turning point for Simon. It’s not just not being chased anymore but the fact that that sounded so final, at least to my ears, almost like a goodbye.
I really liked the season overall but the only thing that genuinely annoyed me is the amount of screentime Sara/August had for cute couply scenes in comparison to the very limited screentime Wilmon got. Ofc the season was more ahout their individual journeys etc. and I'm also not hating on the angst, I love angst. But I wished they had some more "You're the only one I can talk to here" vibes conversations (such as Wille opening up to Simon about his anxiety, Simon opening up about his dad, Wille talking about his grief for Erik... stuff like that).
I totally get that, but I think this was necessary for them to have their individual character growth and come back together stronger. Their relationship would never last if they didn’t have these individual arcs making them stronger and more sure. In season three we are definitely going to get those moments that we missed this season. ❤
I kind of agree but also I think that if they had spent any more time together they would have jumped each other really quickly so the angst wouldn't have worked.
I wish Wilmon had more tender and loving screen time like S1. They fought 90% of the time and the few times they even had felt rushed and was clearly followed by drama. I hope they don’t forget that the major thing that got us on this journey is the intimacy, vulnerability, realness and tenderness between Wilhem and Simon.
I really hope we get more Wille and Simon together next season of them just being a cute, sweet and healthy couple because i feel we didn't get enough of them this season and when we did most of it was drama (which is understandable considering where we left off last season) but now that's over so i need the focus of the show to go back to them as a beautiful relationship! The season was such a fun interesting watch i reallyyy hope it gets renewed! And the ENDING omggg
Oh my god, YES. 100% agreed. Or as my friend said: “They know what we’re here for and we still didn’t get nearly enough of it“ 😬 I wish we‘d had another episode just for the sake of them calming down from all their fighting before that fantastic finale.
I saw an interview last week with Omar and Edvin and Edvin said that he doesn't always agree with what Wilhelm does in S2. And after watching S2, I definitely agree. I especially didn't like that Wilhelm doesn't acknowledge the hurt he has caused Simon when they were talking in the library, or that he *never* acknowledges how he hurt Simon throughout their relationship. Wilhelm's privileges poke through a few times. He still has work to do on himself. He's still young and his brain isn't fully developed yet, so I try to remember that. Hoping for at least a S3 to complete Wilhelm's growth in a nice story arc (one that includes Simon).
Can we stop with that nonsense. Apologize for what? For his family? What do we as viewer really wanted to see in season 1 . That a 16 years old prince grieving his brother go out and said yes It’s was me on that video with my crush .I can even said boyfriend at that point. The only mistake Willem made it is not warning Simon before the statement. Nothing else.
In S1, Wilhelm definitely should have warned Simon. Though I think Simon may have had his phone off most of the time so he may not have seen it. Plus Wille may have decided at the very last minute to deny it was him. But near the end of S2E1, when they're talking in the library, Simon asks, "Don't you realize that you hurt me?" Wille never acknowledges (verbally) that his actions hurt Simon. Wille may not have had much choice in denying the video, but that in turn deeply hurt Simon and it broke Simon's trust in Wilhelm. Just would be nice if Wilhelm had told Simon that he realized Simon was hurt by this. Wille had the added layer of grief over his brother's death, but that doesn't diminish Simon's pain either.
Its funny because I read the Wilhelm and Felice scene as confirming him as gay, not bi. Like he was feeling all these things for Felice and checking to see if they were platonic or something else. He was really going through it, feeling the pressure from his family about being a 'normal crown prince' and the pain from Simon and Markus, I can understand him feeling all this love and joy around Felice and wondering, maybe even hoping, that it was more than friendly, that he could be what his parents wanted and move on from Simon all at once. This feeling was confirmed for me, but maybe I read it wrong, in the scene where he is explaining why he did it to Felice and basically says "I wanted to see if I felt something". I quite liked the scene from this perspective because it really played well in the plot and massively advanced both his character and his relationship with Felice, it showed just how desperate and backed into a corner he felt regarding his family, duty and sexuality and it was a good way to show how close they have gotten, how much he cares for her. I also think that scene makes the scene in the dining room where they are all congratulation him is all the more sad because they are basically reaffirming the negative ideas he had about himself and his sexuality that pushed him to kiss her in the first place.
I didnt even think it was about sexuality but about being over simon or not/being in love with felice or not... also i screamed in that moment because i hated how it destroyed the lovely representation of an emotionally and physically close m-f friendship. But i guess they kinda fixed it by not actually making it a thing and them staying friends
@@claraboe2755 yeah that’s exactly how I interpreted what he said when they were talking about it the following day. He was saying he wanted to see if he was ready to move on from Simon and if he has feelings for Felice, but alas he still loves Simon and she’s just a friend to him. Still it felt like it was implied he found Felice attractive. The dining room scene when he was finally laughing along and enjoying the teasing kinda confirms he’s bi to me. It reeked of heterosexual toxic masculinity energy to me though lol
@@oni7050 Felice always forgives her friends, when drama happens it's never for too long because she is understanding, and I love that so much! She had her biggest fight with Sara at the end of the season but I'm sure it won't be for long, because she's always reaching out to her friends and accepts their faults when they apologise. Love her :))
16:04 It was definitely a callback to S1. Very similar moment. I kinda wanted Wilhelm to say it back to Simon, but I think Edvin did a great job of showing how overwhelmed Wilhelm was by hearing Simon saying he loves him. Excellent acting!!
I think one thing that was really dominant in this season was that these kids thinking that they have power over things when they really don't. I think that's really prevalent with Felice and Sara's issue with the horse, August's power and lack thereof, and Wilhelm's decision making. These kids don't have any power over a lot of things that the adults set up, but people like Simon who don't have those kinds of responsibilities don't see that because the rich kids make them think that they actually do have some sort of power.
Really good analysis! Yeah, that is exactly why Simon annoyed me this season. Simon completely acted like he couldn’t see where Wilhelm was coming from.
I think the scene that made me the most angry and actually scream at the TV was when the Queen made August, Wilhelm's reserve. HOW CAN YOU LITERALLY MAKE AUGUST SECOND IN LINE OF BECOMING KING AFTER HE RUINED YOUR SON'S LIFE, HOW !?
This^^ I feel like no one talks about how low of a move that was, like this boy has traumatised your son, the other family who's son was also involved and all you think about is securing the throne?? And have August. Like there wasn't anyone else, god I was so mad
Idk, for me making August the reserve for the king is more of a punishment to August no? Would you feel rewarded having to keep all the secrets of your life so that you can become king?
@@dangkhoa0202 if you put it like that it kinda is a punishment, especially since he'd change a lot of his life to fit the new roles he has to take, but then like August is kind of power hungry and I feel like he'd push through just to fain that power and not face consequences for what he did to Simon etc
@@heralisa3202 i agree with you. Gotta say apart from the punishment bit, part of me still don't want him to be king bcuz he's power hungry and for sure will wield his power against other people. I just think that it's gonna be hard for him to come clean, with his family's messy background, his drug use, his toxic behaviours... all those will catch up to him if he will be king.
@@dangkhoa0202 you're right, cause upto now all wille and Simon know is that he posted the vid, not that he's next in line, so even if he did become king I think they'd fight to destroy him in a way (in which Sara has kind if already done that)
when august and sara were together IT WAS SO CUTE, like even when he had the gun to his chest he wasn't going to say it was sara who told him. LIKE AHHHH, plus he literally sold a family heirloom to buy her a horse. In season one, august refused to sell the heirlooms even to keep him in the school. LIKE DAMN, he was head over heels
I really loved how in this one, the entire focus wasnt just on Willhelm and Simon. It really gave us a chance to properly get to know all of the characters, which i loved! Also I'm really interested to see how the whole thing about Stella liking Fredrika pans out. I think it will be really cute
I was really impressed how well the pain of Wilhelm's not being able to be with the person he loves was depicted. I believe that most people will identify so easily with this portrayal. So many other things were so realistic and on point too - Simon pretending to be over Wilhelm and that killing him inside, Felice and Sara's friendship and August's character arc was a chef's kiss. This show's writer does amazing job at making sure that everything is as authentic as possible and that the plot is consistent with what's happened before. 11/10
I actually liked that Wilhelm and Felice kissed bcs I appreciate when rly good friends in media kiss or whatever and then just go like. nope nope ha ha let's not do THAT again and then just talk through what happened and go back to being friends w/o that kiss ruining it. I feel that often in media friends will kiss and then make an endless drama out of it or the writers will push them together for drama, and I appreciate that young royals just left it at 'impusively fucked up but we talked abt it and it didn't destroy our friendship' yknow
the ending was AMAZING. i have rewatched season 1 right before watching season 2 and so i could see the symmetry between seasons. there are many moments presented in both seasons but with different twists, like the names of the fish with Wille and then with Marcus, the closing of the curtains, the parties at the beginning of the seasons, where it al started between Wille and Simon, the chorus moment when they look at each other and smile, the “i love you” at the end, and so many other moments. beautifully written. and the ending set the stage perfectly for a third season, so i am very excited to see what is happening next.
I absolutely adore s2. They somehow made this season even more realistic and the ending was definitely more satisfying than the first season. I'm interested in what happened when Sara calls the police at the end. They didn't show what she said but if she says something that contradicts what Wilhelm said, it could cause problems which will be interesting to see in s3. Edit #1: I'm a bit scared about them cancelling cause in the US it didn't hit Top #10 (idk about other countries) but we shall SEE.
It reached no. 4 worldwide! I guess non-English language shows just tend to do a lot worse in the US, whereas people in non-English speaking countries are used to watching lots of shows with dubbing and/or subtitles. I’m very optimistic about s3.
WILHELM BEING PETTY TO AUGUST WAS EVERYTHING LMFAO - also that ending- IM AA SEASON 3 PLEASE !! I made a bingo sheet of predictions and was surprised how many i got lol
It’s definitely how Sara’s relationship with her brother was severed, her friendship with Felice was in shambles, everyone and I mean everyone was disappointed in her and all August thought was “hey why don’t I buy her a horse 😃 by selling my dad’s painting 😃😃” I literally can’t deallll🤣🤣😂😂
He bought the horse before all that happened though, you see him do it the morning after she tells him he was sold. He just chose to tell her then, which was very stupid
One thing i feel like doesn’t get mentioned as much is the possible romance between Stella and Fredrika (felices friends) and if that’s going to be a little background quest or become more prominent while we have maybe (hopefully) a somewhat happy Simon and Wille. Also something else which i wouldn’t have forgave Sara for is if she had outed Stella just because she was mad (take a thing out of her boyfriends book ig) but she didn’t so she’ll probably get like a redemption arc in season 3 and i actually hope we’ll see more of her and August, the tension there and everything
Well, of COURSE, the sapphics don’t have nearly enough screentime 🙄 I‘m curious to find out if they keep up the whole „she’s my best friend, can’t risk that“ or if we’re gonna see some sweet w|w romance next season.
I believed August loved Sara for real. I don't think he was manipulating her. Or August put a spell on me idk 😅 Also I think it's interesting that Sara-August relationship took a similar course to Simon-Wille in a way it was firstly awkward then sweet then complicated with all that royal stuff then full downfall. Idk if I make sense, i's kinda difficult to describe my thoughts. Surely I need a rewatch cause this series is too good to watch it only once and I always find something new.
I honestly loved it and thought it was amazing there just weren’t many enjoyable moments because all the characters were so sad all the time 😭😭 but it was incredible
I‘m still deciding if I liked this season or not. It had so, SO, so much potential and it does a good job taking up the loose threads from Season 1. However, and that’s what bothers me immensely, that defining element of intimacy and tenderness in Season 1 didn’t have screen time at all in S2. Like, yes, we see the pining, we see the heartbreak, the emotional connection between Simon and Wille that’s so obviously still there but there’s no moment of relief. I actually loved their kiss at the ball and I think the scene leading up to it was absolutely phenomenal with Wille saying “I understand that you aren’t in love with me anymore, I‘ll leave you alone now“ and Simon being utterly speechless and shook. It’s true that that moment wasn’t fair to Marcus but honestly, f*** that guy. I’ve never seen a character scream “I‘m such a nice guy“ more than him and he’s lost all my respect when he didn’t let Simon break off their thing (when Simon CLEARLY didn’t want to be with him romantically). It wasn’t okay of Simon to just use him whenever he was frustrated by Wille but I don’t think you can call what Simon and Marcus had an actual relationship, so in my opinion, this is collateral damage but not cheating. And obviously, the scene in Wille’s room was amazing and much, much needed to resolve all that tension. I just wish they‘d had a “morning after“ (or afternoon?? Can anyone tell if Simon spent the night there or if it was just a couple of minutes??) or generally just more moments of tenderness together. We just see them fighting the entire season and I was completely strung up for it because you didn’t feel like you could breathe out a single time. There was only conflict and chaos and two tiny glimpses of harmony, three if you count that moment in the corridor. That scene was possibly perfect, too. I would totally agree that it’s a reference to the final scene of S1, probably even done intentionally by Simon. The way he enunciates every word so clearly when he tells him he loves him felt like he was giving him a gift, a stark contrast to Wille’s desperation when he said in in S1. I‘m still riding the high of excitement so I don’t actually know yet whether I would say I liked this season or not. Right now, I‘d say it was fantastic and catastrophic. So many good scenes and so much disaster (and some really unnecessary stuff like that scene with Felice (????) and that shotgun scene, which I just didn’t get the point of except pure drama?) and so much potential for moments of connection because of the general emotional intensity. I‘d probably say that if they had added another two or three episodes with more moments of intimacy and tenderness and less focus on the tension and drama, I couldn’t be happier. Let’s just hope this spectacular, brilliant final scene set us up for a good Season 3 with more Wille/Simon love and not just more struggles in spite of it. Edit: By the way, I have finally decided that I DO like the season, a lot, despite it’s lack of intimacy overall and some slight issues. It was still a fantastic season and I love re-watching it, now that everything’s settled a bit in my mind 🙈
You put the head on the nail! The first season was magical and I just didn't feel it with this one and couldn't understand why. Their intimate scenes are so perfect and intense, that's what's missing. Hopefully they have time for that next season.
I agree... although I always thought this was gonna happen? Like I love love love season 1 and I've seen it so many times I know it by heart. So I kinda knew that I would still love season 1 more than this one from the start and I knew we were gonna get less cute moments because of how the first season ended. I haven't seen season 2 again yet but I've decided I liled it cause I think the writers gave us the best given the lack amount of episodes. Like I was expecting more episodes than last season fr. 6 episodes is so little screen time that they can't give us much love when the last season ended like it did. And I loved the character development and I felt like it was all very real, how they react to things feels so real and that's why I love this show. Also I was kinda underwhelmed by ending. Of course I loved what wille said and everything but I thought it was a little rushed? Loved to see that now simon is not his secret anymore tho 💘
About your third point about the scene in Wille's room - I think it was the morning after, because Simon came over to Wille's room after school (he'd missed the book presentation and lunch), then when he was leaving Wille said can't you stay we have a day off and Simon replied my mom is picking me up at 10 (am obv, it's day light). So how I interpreted it was they spent the whole day and that night together; talked and now it was time for Simon to 'set things right' by breaking it off with Markus and going to the police the next morning.
@@palaksharma1777 yes, that would make sense from a timeline point of view but their dynamic does not suggest in the slightest “we just spent about twenty hours in close proximity“ at all.
a) I want so much more Wille and Simon couple moments next season. B) I genuinely believe August was falling for Sara and loved her by the end (like the ball scene showed so much to me). So it was crazy hating August and Sara for what they were doing, but thinking they were cute together. c) Yes, Felice needs more!! She's the best! d) I understand that Markus was supposed to be the "perfect guy" but he reminded me too much of an ex I had who kept just pushing the whole "we can wait" "I understand you" blah blah, but then not really respecting the boundaries put in place you know??? So yeah I hope he goes. Basically, I want Wille and Simon to face whatever backlash comes from this speech together next season. Also the tension was INSANE. I don't like angst, but damn it was done so good
Favorite scene: E2, about halfway through, Simon is at home in his room with Wille's orange sweater. He smells the sweater and puts it on. Then he writes the new version of the school song as a love song about him & Wilhelm. Listen carefully to the lyrics, how he sings them, and his emotional state. He is overwhelmed with sadness. Unable to deal with his emotions, he texts Markus to see if they can hang out. This is Simon running away from his heartbreak over Wille.
Hey, for anyone wondering, Wille's character is supposed to be unlabeled. It's not explicitly stated in the show but I think Edvin and Omar did an interview sometime after season one aired where they talked about why it was important to have Unlabeled representation in media. I don't know if this will change in the future but just spreading this because I think it's an important thing to know about the show.
Simon really made Marcus hold his drink and then went off to make out with Wilhelm behind a bush 😭 Then had the nerve to say “the choir” when Marcus called out his name like he didn’t give a f**** about getting caught by him, his only concern was his song 😭
I just love how Wille can be such a cold bitch to everyone else but when it comes to Simon he turns into such a needy baby and you can see how Simon sort of knows that and kinda has the upper hand emotionally. Their dynamic just hits a spot.
august is a character who only cares about himself and wants things do be done in his own way and i loved how wille knew that in order to bring him down.
The reason I sometimes feel bad for August is because he obviously has a lot of mental struggles. The level of exercise, his dieting… he is clearly very obsessive and harsh with himself and struggling with an ED. He did a lot of bad things, but I also find it weird that noone seems to realize his obsessive exercising and dieting and at least trying to help him… I dont think he manipulated Sara, hes genuinely in love. He just needs help.
THIS!!! like did no one notice that he clearly has body dysmorphia?? he has so low bodyfat yet was picking at it in the mirror. He also eats only healthy. I feel like he made a big mistake in s1, and is genuinely sorry!! Sometimes when u feel like shit u treat people like shit :(
In s1 I genuinely thought that the reason he leaked the video was because he sold it to the press so that he could afford to stay at school. It would make him a lot more sympathetic, because then it would have been about money, not just about hurting Wilhelm. But that wasn’t the reason, so imo that makes him a bit less sympathetic. But I still feel bad for him, maybe just cause the actor is very charming and just looks like a sweetheart even though he’s doing all this terrible stuff 😢 and he is genuinely sweet with Sara, it’s so conflicting ahhhhgh
During this season, with the wrong desicions Wille and Simon were making, I was like 'Oh boy, that's gonna end up bad - trust me, I know' and I saw some of my teen relationship's mistakes. When you're trying to cope with hurting after ending the relationship (or even worse in this unknown place between friends and couple) the worst you can do is approach other people romantically/sexually and I was very sad to look at them both doing it. BUT than... I've done it all, I know that it's just easier to numb the pain than to face it, it's easier to make out with someone imaging it's just the person we would like it be, it's all easier than feeling so so hurt. So... my judgement is that it was just damn realistic. And I loved it. Recently I've also refreshed SKAM and the speech from the show's end got me thinking also in Young Royals case - everyone is part of some bigger chaos and what we do today will impact tomorrow, maybe you won't see it immediately or how the connections go, but it'll all definitely be a part of some bigger scheme and show consequences. With YR affairs it's explicitly visible how those good and bad decisions go down the hill.
I personally liked the scene where Simon agrees to be a secret, and I don't think it's the complete turn around you make it out to be. Wilhelm made it crystal clear that he wanted an honest life with Simon, and would even give up his crown for that purpose. That is a complete different ball game compared to the end of season 1. Back then, Simon was basically asked to be a dirty little secret so the crown prince can play straight in public, probably indefinitely! But now, he is being asked to be discreet until the crown has figured out a lightly more dignified way for a crown prince’s coming out. That’s actually not an unreasonable ask, especially considering Wilhelm is only 16 and his coming out will certainly be one for the history books, literally. Also, it will have helped that Simon started to see things from Wilhelms perspective, maybe even the Queens. They had this great scene in class where Simon argued that change takes time and nobody can be expected to throw out all of their beliefs and traditions in a heartbeat. And that is basically what Simon expected Wilhelm to do back in Season 1. I think Simon realised that was kinda a big ask, all things considered, and that made him more willing to meet Wilhelm half way. So yeah, I don’t think Simon changing his mind about the level of secrecy involved is such a stretch. I’m pretty sure Simon’s main issue was never the secrecy part, but the lying-about-the-video-and-leaving-me-to-deal-with-the-fall-out-all-by-myself part. So good for both of them that Wilhelm finally set the record straight.
I loved how all the characters were written. They had a lot of depth to them, and it made them feel even more real. It also made it difficult to say who the true ‘villian’ was. A big congrats to the actors!
I don't know if someone has already said this but Nil (the gay rich character who occasionally talked to Wilhelm) I think was there to show the lifestyle of if Wilhelm lived a closeted gay high profile life (eg when he mentioned there's no openly gay ceos) but also the perpetual frustration and crazy parties, and that likely helped Wilhelm realize he doesn't want to live a closeted life
Can I just say how proud I am of my boy willi… like he finally got up and stood up for him self not only to the few peeps in the royal court but also the whole royal construct of only being straight. He tots slayed on that last Ep with that beautiful speech 😢.
My fave scene, other than the final scene, was wilhelm seeing simon's reaction to august going to do the speech and showing he cared for simon by doing a speech he was terrified to do. Wilhelm's love for simon making him brave in the final scenes just made me so happy!!
I honestly loved how much thought was put into showing things instead of telling them. Like when Wille and Simon first meet each other at the party, Wille immediately tries to find Sara because that's what Simon needs in that moment and he doesn't do anything else until that's been resolved. I think it was supposed to show how he was willing to put Simon's needs before himself (which he very obviously did as the season went on) And after Simon kept his orange sweater he was shown with Marcus but wearing a sweatshirt of almost the same color, I have no idea if it was intentional but I like to think it was supposed to represent the fact that he was still hung up on Wille (which we all knew but I just thought it was a nice detail)
Okay but sara is genuinely a menace, like miss girl was the only witness of August leaking the video, (before she fell in love with him) she never thought or was bothered enough to tell her own brother or at least have his back for once is pure evil. And suddenly she was lying enough for a person with spectrum like wtf
did anyone notice the foreshadowing of Wilhelm being bisexual? there's a scene where there's a small bi flag on a pinboard behind Wilhem before the episode of his makeout sesh with felice happens. i just thought that was pretty cool.
@@ollya127 I'm not sure he's bi, tbh. Although he was at least acting like it wasn't normal for him to be with a guy at the beginning with Simon 🤔 could be internalised homophobia still. The thing with Felice, I saw it as a low point, driven by desperation and not desire. His conversation with Nils also made it look like they had the same sexuality and Nils said he was gay.
The scene you talked about with the guy telling Wilhem to get someone who is his equal, I got the impression from his talks with Wilhem that he might have been intimate with Erik. Or perhaps Erik was gay and he knew it. Cause he kept mentioning how the therapist is good with queer people and that Erik went to therapy a lot. My assumption is that perhaps Erik went through something similar that Wilhem is going through. There’s still so much mystery surrounding his accident so it could be the reason. Perhaps he couldn’t handle the pressure just like Wilhem. Idk.
Didn’t they mention this season that Erik had a secret relationship with like a sex worker girl or something? And that wille isn’t the only royal who has had to hide their relationships in the past. Ya I really hope they show us more about Erik in the next season, I’d like to learn more about him
@@ciarafarrell3742 oh then I must’ve missed it. Watching it a second time so would definitely look out for that. And I agree, Erik was a big part of Wille’s life so it’ll be interesting to know what led up to the accident and who he was in general
I liked all the parallels between season one and season 2 (Wilhelm closing the curtains when he was hooking up with Simon because that's how they got caught the first time, Wilhelm looking directly into the camera at the end of both seasons, but with this one he had a smile on his face, etc.) One thing I absolutely DESPISED was Alexander *letting* himself be the scapegoat this time, instead of letting August take the fall. It also feels extra icky, cuz he's the only other Asian boy besides Nils of the boys, and he's also a younger student, making it easier for august to take advantage of him. Sure, he's rich like the rest of them, and has access to everything else the white kids have, but he'll obviously never be seen as one of them, seeing as he took the blame for something they did, almost TWICE, and VOLUNTARILY the second time. I just wish that man would grow a backbone. I was also looking forward to Felice having her own development, but that just... didn't really happen. She was always there for Wilhelm, always making sure he was ok, but he never really reciprocated that back. It was lowkey giving black best friend vibes, and I didn't like that. There's nothing wrong with he being there for Wilhelm, and I loved their friendship. I just wish she got her own character arc, not regarding Wilhelm. Also that hookup scene was NOT it😖
I honestly feel like Wilhelm and Felice kissing was important, cause when people r at a low point, they tend to make bad decisions. So it made sense to me. I don't think the writers were trying to imply that they could be a thing, they were merely showing that BOTH the characters were going through a bad situation and thus, making wrong decisions✨
I'm still team Simon no matter what. He's such a pure and sweet character and watching his reaction during that final conflict when Sara confessed nearly broke me. August deserves the Chokey for what he did this season and last. The fact that he never felt bad about what he did to Simon or thought to apologize after he found out shows he lacks any real empathy. I'm all the way here for Willi shaking the Royal table and I hope he keeps standing firm against the Queen's horrible behavior. What kind of mother offers her son's bully his position after he recorded an illegal video of her son and posted it across the internet.
I think it just has to do with who is next in line. If they are cousins then they share a common ancestor maybe a grandma. Since the queens cousin was August dad
@@cristianocaravaggio2731 August is Kristina’s father’s parent’s great-grandchild. (Basically there’s the old-old monarch, who had at least 2 kids, Kristina’s father and his younger sibling, then August’s father (presumably) is the younger sibling’s son).
I was kind of surprised how much I liked the relationship between Sara and August (even if I did not like them as characters just by themselves but more as a couple). It certainly was a testament to Malte's acting abilities that he was able to sway me from absolutely hating August in season 1 to actually feeling for him (at least sometimes that is) in season 2. I'm sure he has genuine feelings for Sara (as does she for him) and to see him show this kind of shyness towards her, the literal hope blossoming in his eyes to be loved by someone and the hurt when she ditched him at the ball. Let's be honest, he is power-hungry, manipulative and despicable most of the times, but he also is very lonely, without real friends and feels abandoned by his mother and his father who killed himself. But his selfishness wins in the end (there might have been a way to real redemption if the Queen hadn't dangled the carot of "being next in line" in front of his nose and he couldn't give up this chance to become king, arghh - imagine that!). When it comes to Simon and Marcus, yeah, I never felt a thing between them, no chemistry at all. Simon just tried to get Wille out of his head and heart (rather unsuccessfully, though) and I didn't find it especially "sinister" of him to kiss Wille at the ball. Yes, he tried to make him jealous and to get some "revenge" for his hurt feelings about the Wille/Felice thing. That backfired massively, when Wille gave up and was finally ready to let him go. And confronted with the thought of losing his great love for real was all it took for Simon to come to his senses and to admit that he is still very much in love with Wille and there is no way of denying it any longer. He tried with Marcus, wanted to fall in love and also felt quite guilty. But I couldn't forgive Marcus for playing the "Daddy-issue"-card: Using Simon's greatest weakness to his advantage felt just wrong to me. I mean, all is fair in love and war, but sitting on the moral high horse when exploiting someone's deepest trauma? No thanks, not falling for such a guy! We shouldn't forget that Simon is supposed to be a 17 year old teenager who is downright unhappy, heartbroken and finding his way (just as Wille btw - so give them a break, we all made some mistakes, it is just human!) For me, Wille and Simon are end game, always will be. And I'm so, so happy that Wille - after facing Simon's willingness to sacrifice so much for their love - found the strength to show his true self to the whole world... Ah, well, I'm a sucker for happy ends and season 3 will better give us more of that sweet romance we all so much deserve! 😍
I finished the season a few hours ago, and I was super baffled by all the hate people were giving Sara online, some saying she’s worse than August 😭 I honestly cannot hate her at all, she never did any of the things she did out of malice, despite having made mistakes. I feel like she was conflicted between her love and care for Felice and Simon and her relationship with August. And it shows, she nearly ended things with him because of them on the 4th episode (before fully ending their fling on the last one). She also believed that August would do the right thing and confess like she had told him to and had no idea about his plan. Speaking on their relationship, I do think they had some degree of love for each other and that there was no manipulating involved, you saw it from how excited he got about Sara coming over for the ball! Plus, I do like the fact that he basically refused to rat her out despite being held at gunpoint. Sorry for writing so much, had lots of thoughts on this lmao
No no it’s ok I liked reading your comment 🥺 I really liked how they depicted Sara’s character this season especially within regards to writing her being on the spectrum and all because I’ve seen some of my own friends like her do similar things
I know it seems like Simon changed his mind about being secretive too quickly but keep in mind, they had things to pin on him like the drugs. Alexander was going to take the blame for August and then they were going to turn the tables on Simon. He realized that in the end he would not win against them because he's a nobody compared to August. Simon had tried to move on but he has come to terms that he will not be able to move on so easily, that he is madly in love with Wilhelm. So in the end, he chose to be a secret if it meant being with the person he loves. I love the revengeful Wilhelm and this season gave me so many different feelings. The last episode is MUCH more satisfying to watch this time than season 1! Ooooooh, I'm just so excited for the next season!!!
the thing about simon though, this entire season i think he also tries to understand wille's circumstances, he's always had that dilemma about wanting to be with wille so bad yet the situation around them wasnt helping. its not that he's indecisive. you can see his turmoil whenever he's in his own space, his own room, always staring at the fish bcs he just cant seem to get over wille. and at one point i think he's realized that he Loves wille, which why he made the decision of willing to be his secret for a while, he sees a future and possible forever with wille. he's ready to sacrifice his desire to have a free and out relationship with someone, with wille. but in the end, im so happy for him bcs his "i love you" is returned by wille this time in a way that had him shellshocked yet happy, that wille doesnt want him to be his secret anymore bcs FUCK THE MONARCHY!!! gods i just love them so much. they went through a lot :( i cant wait to see them holding on strong together facing all the mess thats going to happen after that finale, im pretty sure they will stand by strong together bcs now they know they love each other, in a way that they see the future of them being together. like "its us against the world" FUUUUUCK im rambling at this point im sorry but yeah i hope i get my point across.
At least for me, it feels more like August genuinely loved Sara and wanted to be honest/genuine with her yet his self centered mindset causes him to completely forget everyone around him including those he loves when making decisions. Somehow that makes it more impactful for me bc it shows how he has absolutely not grown despite trying to convince himself and Sarah of the contrary.
Felice had the right to feel betrayed by her best friend who also betrayed her own brother, Simon, and Felice’s other friend, Wilhelm She is also a teen so everything is usually melodramatic because you’re still learning to control your emotions so in that sense it’s also an understandable reaction She does seem to have some regret bc this person was her sister not even best friend and we can see when she enters the room and Sara is not there that she wishes she handled the situation better and that she got caught up in the heat of the moment. This show is so beautifully written in its realism We don’t fall in love with Marcus and neither does Simon We see Simon and Wilhelm try and communicate but miss at times but a post circumstance communication happens and they reconcile The show is very subtle in all its ways, separating it from a melodramatic soap opera and making it believable and relatable 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
the thing that bothered me about august and sara's relationship was that sara's love didnt feel justified until maybe later on. Like in season 1, he didn't do anything remotely sweet, all he did was manipulate her, but somehow she fell in love with him for that? Like no it seems purely physical from that standpoint. I think later on their feelings became genuine but at that point, u cannot justify sara throwing her brother under the bus like that. and that's where I feel the writers could have done better. If they had one scene of august and sara where he was actually kind to her in season 1 (even if unintentional) then I would get her obsession because maybe she's not used to that kind of attention (and maybe she saw something in him that others didn't see). But the way it was set up now just made me really mad at sara for being so naive.
Same, to be honest I don’t care how many episodes we get in just relieved we got any episodes at all. Netflix has a habit of cancelling shows after just one season and I’m so happy they didn’t cancel young royals. I’m not complaining!!!
yesh the thing about sara and felice, its about respect, like if she was honest from the start i think the chances of felice accepting it would be a lot higher. i love the ending that basically august is in the same shoe that wille was at the end of the last season, his obsession with being royal drove his love interest away!! great writing
Hey! Loved your video! I just wanted to point out that Wilhelm doesn't "develop" anxiety in season 2. He always had it (we can see early signs of it in s1), but he's learning to deal with it in more healthy ways in s2 💜 As for Simon's change of heart at the end, he just finally understood that Wilhelm being a prince, their relationship was always bound to be a secret from the beginning. That's the sad truth for royals until the person they're dating is deemed good enough for the monarchy/public. Last season, Simon didn't want to be a secret bc the odds were different. Wilhelm went from keeping the romantic side of their relationship between them to lying about it to the whole world. But what Simon is agreeing to by being a secret at the end of s2 is just to have Wilhelm and their privacy back for a little while. They would need to hide from the public but most probably not from their friends/family. Of course, it's great to see Wilhelm make that speech at the end but it means their relationship will be scrutinized by the public in s3 and that's A LOT of pressure on anyone but especially teenagers. Also no, I don't think August was manipulating Sara. He definitely used her to his advantage when he could, but he truly fell for her. The proof of it being how loyal to her he was in the end, even with a shotgun pointed to his head.

I was excited when August and Sara got together last season, and this season was awesome. i love this not-evil-on-purpose power couple
I think my favorite moment in this season was when Simon was getting dressed to go to the ball with Marcus and Marcus asks about his fish and Simon tells him they don't have names. It was such a good parallel from when Simon and Wille had that moment in the first season when Wille asked what their names were. I think in that moment I really knew that Simon was playing Macus/did not have an intention to be romantic with him. He was protecting the memory with Wille making it clear he was still in love with him.
one minor detail that made me really happy were the ringtones, I swear at one point I thought it was my phone that was ringing😂. I appreciated the realness.
i adored season 2 so so much but i really hope we get some more felice storylines in season 3. maybe a love interest for her? or something else because i love her character sm and would love to get even more of her
The character you asked about is a third year student named Nils. In season 1 he and Vincent were August's buddies and seemed to never leave his side. Apparently he's gay and came out to Wilhelm. On another note, Marcus and the ball. Simon invited him but he said more than once that a ball was not his type of party and they could get together after it. Then he shows up at the ball. I think he showed up to make Wilhelm feel bad. Act all kissy face and boyfriend-like with Simon in front of Wilhelm. It was just a part of his manipulation and disrespect of Simon.
13:38 I think he was definitely manipulating Sara for most of their "relationship." He used her feelings to get want he wanted and to protect himself from serious consequences. But I think he did start to care for her by the end. August selling a piece of art to buy Rousseau for her hinted that he was falling for her. August was right when he said that there's something wrong with him. He needs a lot of therapy. He's a mess because of his dad unaliving himself and his mom abandoning him.
I can't see the Royal Family knocking Wilhelm out of the line of succession, just for him publicly coming out. Can you imagine the PR nightmare that would be?
6:45 ish I was yelling at the screen for Wille to stop. It was a crappy thing for him to do, despite knowing that he was hurting from seeing Simon with someone else. At least Felice called him out on it later. I love their friendship, but grr, Wilhelm, don't.
I don't think Wilhelm will be kicked out of the family. Something will be worked out between the Queen and Wilhelm. That final part of the season really shows how much Wilhelm has grown from the beginning of S1E1 to the end of S2. He's really becoming a young man. I'm excited to see more growth next season... maturity-wise, though he did grow in physical height from S1 to S2. More difference in Simon/Omar's and Wilhelm/Edvin's heights this season.
I actually thought the scene between Wilhelm and Felice was quite good. They're friends and sad and teenagers and that's just very VERY messy and they handled it quite well between themselves... It didn't seem unnecessary or just for the drama or some forced hetero mingling Also I really liked August's arc because they really got us rooting for him, a claimed villain, and we got to see him be a ✨huma'✨
When Wille threatened the royal court because he saw Simon on a date lol 😂 I cackled
its the way, when Simon asked he didn't say it was cos of him... he was just like its solved now and I can be with you in 2 years
@@teewings8795 lol plsss that was so cute like it reminds us that Wille really is just a kid and can be a bit childish. When he was like oh they support me and my mom said when I turn 18 i can do what I want so we would only be a secret for 2 years. Like it’s that simple. lmao
@@showmoke who, me?
@@showmoke it hasn’t been announced but it most definitely will be due to the cliff hanger in the ending and the success the show is getting :)
So I think Young Royals will be safe for a 3rd season.
the ending was definitely MUCH more satisfying than the last one

Yea kind of but I wish there were more episodes it felt kind of short also there weren't enough happy scenes of Wille and Simon so

I agree. It wasn't the relationship per se. It was that Sara told August about Simon going to the police.
I think people are just misunderstanding the scenes with their friend group and the dean of their college explaining why they wanted to change rooms. Felice had to make it all about Sara and August because she couldn't say what Sara really did without hurting Wilhelm and bringing it all back up for Simon.
This, absolutely...

Right? And even if he didn't go to jail, he'd be known as a creep, wtf?
This season was just as addicting as the first one, and I felt like the way the characters were written was even more realistic than in season one (which was already very realistic). The chemistry between the two main characters was insane. The pining was literally palpable through the screen. And the character complexity of Sara is just chef’s kiss.

honest to god i HATED marcus. simon could say 'yeah i dont want to go on a date w you' and marcus literally will go 'aight so you want 6 kids with me' he was not listening at ALL
My breaking point was when he told Simon something along the lines that he has a victim complex, like yes he is a victim and you need to leave
yeah remember when he brought up Simon's dad tryna say his daddy issues were the problem and not the fact that Simon just wasn't ready for a relationship, ugh did not like marcus

@@ambershoba yeah that was Marcus’s whole story arc. He went above and beyond to do things for Simon and then felt entitled that Simon commit to him.
Tbh I don’t think it’s that Marcus wasn’t listening. He was subtley emotionally manipulating Simon. Simon was still in the wrong for what he did though and always acts like he’s done nothing wrong 🙈💀
Felice is the only queen I stan on this show. Plus I loved seeing Wilhelm in his Reputation Era. Man was not messing around!!!
taylor reference.. i love it
I don't think you understand why Simon chose to be a secret again.. he did it because he realized he loved Wilhelm so much he would give up that just to be with him... and that in return showed Wilhelm how much Simon loved him so he decided to come out and admit it was him in the video so it wouldn't be only Simon sacrificing yet again
And even then she came back to the room to talk to Sara the next morning, she was fully ready to reconcile.
Yes!!! And I loved seeing that part 😭😭😭😭
the way my heart nearly STOPPED when sara was about to out stella
I know I was really scared she'd do it..
What Simon did to Mrakus was a bit shady but honstly I also think Markus was really toxic. Not exepting when Simon told him that he was not ready for anyhing serious and gaslighting him into believing that was because of his father...
i dont know if it was gaslighting necesarily but once he brought up his father I got MADDDDD! OOOO
YES! I just commented about this. Marcus rubbed me the wrong way the whole series.
i was GAGGED when he brought up the daddy issues!! marcus kinda just kept pushing simon
You right right...
It gave me very much "you are sixteen going on seventeen" vibes and I wasn't a fan
August loves Sara for real, he didn’t rat out Sara even with a gun to his head and he sold his heirloom which he wouldn’t even sell to pay his tuition. Also remember he wanted to go public with their relationship on the night of the ball and how disappointed he was when she stood him up. He also told her his deepest secret about the line of succession.
yes 1000%
I really want them to get back together next season, I know its wrong, but I want it!!!!
Yea he definitely liked her
I agree. I think - despite his actions regarding other things (like leaking the tape - August truly loves Sara
what i also loved was the small details. the callbacks to season 1 (marcus asking about the fish tank, fight in the “piano room”, etc). and how simon kept wilhelm’s shirt with him all the time in his bed and turned the fish tank so he could see it better. little things
omg I didn't notice that he turned the tank!
And also what Simon did to Wilhelm is a bit like Wilhelm did to Simon in the first season.
Exactly! Marcus acted like they were boyfriends and Simon never wanted it nor said they were.
@@silvereyes242 yeah like why did he even feel the need to bring that up? Like where’s the correlation because I’m not seeing it
i cant lie, i was giggling and kicking my feet with the august and sara scenes. they were cute and I will admit it!
I also believed August loved Sara for real. And whatever you said, they were freaking cute together ngl. Fingers crossed for season 3!
Happy I'm not the only one!
omg same i gotta admit they were so cute
I believe their love is genuine as well. Sara seems to be the only one August truly trusts and the only one he thought would love him for who he is but his love for Sara is not triumph his love for power. When it come to gaining power (aka being the crown prince) he wouldn't let anyone stop him and so he did what he did. I guess because he also think the Sara loves him for who he is she will forgive him for what he did. Really keen to see how the couple will end up in the next season but TBH I really want to be each other endgame because their chemistry is just on point.
I think August is a good guy he is just blinded by his obsessiveness
Marcus is the ultimate gaslighter.. and I feel like they need to do more with Felice character rather than being the security blanket for wilhelm.. she deserves more. the hookup scene with felice and wilhelm was really weird and uncomfortable for me especially because there is no sexual chemistry between the characters.
Yeah i agree with the comment above there wasn’t supposed to be chemistry, they were both confused. Felice had just gotten over having a crush on him, while Wilhelm got lost in the moment because it reminded him of being intimate with Simon
Yeah I actually think it being uncomfortable was deliberate because they were making a bad choice in the moment.
i think it settled the case of felice used to liking wille in the past and confirming neither likes each other anymore (esp felice) which i’m honestly glad about but i do feel like her character was pushed to the side more in this season.
I was terrified at that point about the direction in which we were going
'Has he doubts on his sexuality now??'
There was no sexual chemistry because they didn't feel it for each other. Wilhelm only did it because he saw Simon moving on, and he wanted to know if he could have the same feelings for someone else, and she was the only one there. They also made it clear after that Wille has no attraction towards her
i really thought there would be more episodes this season 😭😭 the 6 episodes thing already bugged me last season
RIGHT???
I legit almost wrecked my house because i was so mad it was only six😄
I was hoping for 8! But they need to do a S3!!
yes omg it felt way too short
The funniest thing to me was that Alexander was willing to go to JAIL just to spite Willhelm and for August at that?
Yesss 😭😭😭 my guy has no backbone like wtf!!
No fr. Marcus was so pushy and a bit toxic to bring up Simon's dad when Simon said he wasn't ready for anything serious.
@@commentarychannelenthusias2740 yeah like he immediately started trauma dumping like woah and then using it against him when Simon finally called it off. 🚩
Tbh. It caught me off guard when h3 brought that up and kind of brushed it off. But I see that tho
i dont feel like he planned but yeah agree on the back part haha
it was so weird to me how he just appeared like it was a jumpscare
sara was the only witness (she actually saw august on the computer that day) and that's why they won't be able to put the blame on that other guy... the reason why august had planned to do so was because there was 'no evidence' that he did it but sara is actually the evidence and the only one who can testify on what had happened. that's my take tho idk if its gonna turn out like that
But what if August lies and says she wasn’t there?
@@whym3689 then he’ll give himself away 😭
@@lily5473 How
@@whym3689 that wouldn't work. It's her word against his, but on top of that we know its his phone and he has a plausible motive.
Also, big up Wilhelm for thinking of Simon's family first for once when he found out Sara helped August, Love some character development.
the characters name is nils, he was there last season and is best friends with vincent and “friends” with august (no one actually is). he was there to show what wilhelm’s life could be like, random hookups and seedy weekends at wealthy locations.
the chemistry between simon and wilhelm is just argggggh
And the fact that omar and edvin are such good friends in reallife makes everything so much better
I said it to my friend as well but if you ignore Sara and August’s personalities outside of their relationship, they were actually so cute together? Like they genuinely seemed happy to see the other in their safe spaces (Sara in August’s room and August at the stables) so i do think they genuinely fell in love with each other. I hate August and hated the decisions Sara made but together.. kinda adorable
Also, Sara was, before he became the second in line, the only good thing in August’s live after his friends and Wille took everything away from him
Also, I don’t know who was in the writer’s room this season but whoever was holding the pens deserves the biggest raise.
A couple of thoughts:
4. I really wish Felice had her own storyline and wasn't just the supportive friend, even though I loved her and Wilhelm's friendship
5. Madison was not as present as in s1, instead the other two girls became more important? Also, do you think something will come out of the crush the one girl had on the other?
6. I think August's relationship to Sara was real and not manipulated, even though he's a pos this seemed like the only real thing he did
Nils was like the person to tell Wilhelm to find someone else.
agreeeeew
@@moss_on_mushroom i feel like simon invited marcus to the ball in desperate attempts to get over wilhelm, or maybe even subconsciously to make wilhelm jealous. but simon was completely chill with marcus not going, maybe even forgot about the invitation, until marcus showed up out of nowhere and was like “i changed my mind, we’re going now!!”
the reason i think simon was trying to make wilhelm jealous is because the moment that wilhelm shows signs of accepting that he needs to move on, simon goes back to him. at the party wilhelm talks to simon and marcus and tries really hard to act normal, and then simon realizes that that wasn’t what he wanted, he instead wanted to be chased by wilhelm, so he escapes from marcus and goes to find wilhelm. that scene was so powerful to me yet hard to grasp all of the feelings behind it, because when simon finds wilhelm he says something along the lines of “i’m just trying to get over you” and at that point i was screaming at my tv YEAH… WE KNOW!
But I wished they had some more "You're the only one I can talk to here" vibes conversations (such as Wille opening up to Simon about his anxiety, Simon opening up about his dad, Wille talking about his grief for Erik... stuff like that).
yes yes yes!!
REAL!
@@dopex89 😂😂😂😂 that’s very accurate
I wish Wilmon had more tender and loving screen time like S1. They fought 90% of the time and the few times they even had felt rushed and was clearly followed by drama. I hope they don’t forget that the major thing that got us on this journey is the intimacy, vulnerability, realness and tenderness between Wilhem and Simon.
no bc the EXACT thought I had this season was “everyone and their mom is in their menace era rn!!!!!!” 😭✋
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Yes! ... A ray of light in the dark :) I think the same, and no one here thinks so...
@@claraboe2755 "them staying friends" was one of THE best scenes in S2 (for both, Wile & Felice)
@@zyramus4386 yess I agree with both those comments so much! I love Simon but I feel like people didn't empathise with Wilhelm enough this season
I know right, he didn't rat her out. He loves her
I really loved how in this one, the entire focus wasnt just on Willhelm and Simon.
My favourite scene is when Simon goes to sleep while on the phone with his friend. Yes please male friendships being sweet like that
That one scene where he drops the snow globe and it just shows it broken and then it flashbacks to when his older brother gave it to him made me CRY 😭
I actually liked that Wilhelm and Felice kissed bcs I appreciate when rly good friends in media kiss or whatever and then just go like. nope nope ha ha let's not do THAT again and then just talk through what happened and go back to being friends w/o that kiss ruining it. I feel that often in media friends will kiss and then make an endless drama out of it or the writers will push them together for drama, and I appreciate that young royals just left it at 'impusively fucked up but we talked abt it and it didn't destroy our friendship' yknow
fr though
Ok, but the queens reaction when Wille said it was him in the video sent me 👉⚰️💀
the ending was AMAZING. i have rewatched season 1 right before watching season 2 and so i could see the symmetry between seasons. there are many moments presented in both seasons but with different twists, like the names of the fish with Wille and then with Marcus, the closing of the curtains, the parties at the beginning of the seasons, where it al started between Wille and Simon, the chorus moment when they look at each other and smile, the “i love you” at the end, and so many other moments. beautifully written. and the ending set the stage perfectly for a third season, so i am very excited to see what is happening next.

It’s definitely how Sara’s relationship with her brother was severed, her friendship with Felice was in shambles, everyone and I mean everyone was disappointed in her and all August thought was “hey why don’t I buy her a horse 😃 by selling my dad’s painting 😃😃”
I literally can’t deallll🤣🤣😂😂
literally love how she absolutely drove her girl boss to the very end when she called the police on august herself… AS SHE SHOULD!

YESSS that nils guy was giving me energy that he was trying to indicate to wilhelm that they should date 😭😭
THE WAY SARA ALMOST OUTED STELLA AS WELL sara is going to stir some shit up in season 3
I LOVED S2 even though I kind of hated most of it in a way but it was a MASTERPIECE😍
Same I thought about how it feels like a whole different show. I hope season 3 would be alot better
I feel like this season needed more episodes.. Idk everything felt kinda rushed
a) I want so much more Wille and Simon couple moments next season.
Completely agree with this take, thanks for mentioning it! That was the one part of the video's analysis that frustrated me haha
I loved how all the characters were written. They had a lot of depth to them, and it made them feel even more real. It also made it difficult to say who the true ‘villian’ was. A big congrats to the actors!
I don't know if someone has already said this but Nil (the gay rich character who occasionally talked to Wilhelm) I think was there to show the lifestyle of if Wilhelm lived a closeted gay high profile life (eg when he mentioned there's no openly gay ceos) but also the perpetual frustration and crazy parties, and that likely helped Wilhelm realize he doesn't want to live a closeted life
the new season legit broke my heart and cleared my skin all at once✨✨i loved it so much THERE BETTER BE A SEASON 3
I think it was supposed to show how he was willing to put Simon's needs before himself (which he very obviously did as the season went on)
And after Simon kept his orange sweater he was shown with Marcus but wearing a sweatshirt of almost the same color, I have no idea if it was intentional but I like to think it was supposed to represent the fact that he was still hung up on Wille (which we all knew but I just thought it was a nice detail)
Yesss I was waiting for this, Personally Ep 4 is my favorite episode because it was drama filled 🤭😆
the tea was HOT
It’s my favorite episode, too!! Except maybe the fifth one because of obvious reasons (essentially, because they aren’t fighting anymore 🙏)
And I agree, Erik was a big part of Wille’s life so it’ll be interesting to know what led up to the accident and who he was in general
honestly this season needs a part two there were NOT enough episodes
I liked all the parallels between season one and season 2 (Wilhelm closing the curtains when he was hooking up with Simon because that's how they got caught the first time, Wilhelm looking directly into the camera at the end of both seasons, but with this one he had a smile on his face, etc.)
One thing I absolutely DESPISED was Alexander *letting* himself be the scapegoat this time, instead of letting August take the fall.
Also that hookup scene was NOT it😖
OMG I FINISHED THE SERIES YESTERDAY AND I WAS WAITING FOR YOU TO POST❤️
I honestly feel like Wilhelm and Felice kissing was important, cause when people r at a low point, they tend to make bad decisions. So it made sense to me. I don't think the writers were trying to imply that they could be a thing, they were merely showing that BOTH the characters were going through a bad situation and thus, making wrong decisions✨
I loved Young Royals season 2 , this season was a masterpiece. This series has my heart
(Basically there’s the old-old monarch, who had at least 2 kids, Kristina’s father and his younger sibling, then August’s father (presumably) is the younger sibling’s son).
i absolutely loved the parallels this season! the sandwich, the fish names, the 'i love you'!!!
and OMG the curtain scene, I CAN`T 😩😩😩
I was yelling at my screen saying “y’all better not forget the curtains” 💀💀
I loved the parallel between Marcus asking Simon about the fishes‘ names vs. Wilhelm asking about them in the 1. season
the thing about simon though, this entire season i think he also tries to understand wille's circumstances, he's always had that dilemma about wanting to be with wille so bad yet the situation around them wasnt helping. its not that he's indecisive. you can see his turmoil whenever he's in his own space, his own room, always staring at the fish bcs he just cant seem to get over wille. and at one point i think he's realized that he Loves wille, which why he made the decision of willing to be his secret for a while, he sees a future and possible forever with wille. he's ready to sacrifice his desire to have a free and out relationship with someone, with wille. but in the end, im so happy for him bcs his "i love you" is returned by wille this time in a way that had him shellshocked yet happy, that wille doesnt want him to be his secret anymore bcs FUCK THE MONARCHY!!! gods i just love them so much. they went through a lot :( i cant wait to see them holding on strong together facing all the mess thats going to happen after that finale, im pretty sure they will stand by strong together bcs now they know they love each other, in a way that they see the future of them being together. like "its us against the world" FUUUUUCK im rambling at this point im sorry but yeah i hope i get my point across.
Felice had the right to feel betrayed by her best friend who also betrayed her own brother, Simon, and Felice’s other friend, Wilhelm
She is also a teen so everything is usually melodramatic because you’re still learning to control your emotions so in that sense it’s also an understandable reaction
She does seem to have some regret bc this person was her sister not even best friend and we can see when she enters the room and Sara is not there that she wishes she handled the situation better and that she got caught up in the heat of the moment.
This show is so beautifully written in its realism
We don’t fall in love with Marcus and neither does Simon
We see Simon and Wilhelm try and communicate but miss at times but a post circumstance communication happens and they reconcile
The show is very subtle in all its ways, separating it from a melodramatic soap opera and making it believable and relatable
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
the thing that bothered me about august and sara's relationship was that sara's love didnt feel justified until maybe later on.
I’m honestly not that upset by the six episode fiasco. Quality over quantity. 100%
Same, to be honest I don’t care how many episodes we get in just relieved we got any episodes at all. Netflix has a habit of cancelling shows after just one season and I’m so happy they didn’t cancel young royals. I’m not complaining!!!
Yeah but i feel like they just stopped mid story 😟
yesh the thing about sara and felice, its about respect, like if she was honest from the start i think the chances of felice accepting it would be a lot higher. i love the ending that basically august is in the same shoe that wille was at the end of the last season, his obsession with being royal drove his love interest away!! great writing
The fact that you called august’s chapter September is amazing
Hey!
Loved your video! I just wanted to point out that Wilhelm doesn't "develop" anxiety in season 2. He always had it (we can see early signs of it in s1), but he's learning to deal with it in more healthy ways in s2 💜
As for Simon's change of heart at the end, he just finally understood that Wilhelm being a prince, their relationship was always bound to be a secret from the beginning.
YES!!!
It didn't seem unnecessary or just for the drama or some forced hetero mingling
Also I really liked August's arc because they really got us rooting for him, a claimed villain, and we got to see him be a ✨huma'✨
