What is that finger picking style you're doing? Im new to banjo and i see what youre doing is something that came naturally to me while building the chord shape memory though i do not have near your articulation. Where do i go to learn more about that technique?
That's got to be the most beautiful banjo back I've ever come across , someone did a outstanding job caring for that one. She's in good hands now that you got her.
Everybody loves some Good Ol Bacon...We got an Old Ludwig tenor from the late 20's that has been passed around in my family...that sunburst is Beautiful...
Still playing my Bacon Belmont banjo, with 5 string neck on a plectrum banjo body, for the Earl Scruggs "wanna be" during the Folk Music revival in the early 60's. Bought at Montgomery Wards bargain room for $150 in 1964.
Hearing you play the banjo and sing makes me know everything is 'gonna be alright!!! Liked the banjo history lesson too... thoroughly enjoyed the whole presentation!!! Have a nice day!!! 😊
My grandfather won a Bacon Belmont in a card game and it was his most prized possession. Unfortunately it was stolen (likely by a family member) immediately after his death about 23 years ago.
I love those pearloid Banjers, I've seen some Gretsch as you mentioned and I hadn't heard what they sound like. Nice to hear one, its pretty cool and bright that's a really nice survivor. Thanks Mr. Clifton. God Bless.
The "cracking" is actually called "crazing". Crazing is the phenomenon that produces a network of fine cracks on the surface of a material, for example in a glaze layer. Lovely old banjo btw.
I sold my soul to hell a long time ago for the love of a woman I mistreated and then lost I no longer feel no emotions other than pain and suffering I try to warn other's of the dangers of a deal with the devil but they will never truly understand the true outcome of such a deal and the outcome but your songs come as close as possible thank you for the beauty you create call me crazy or whatever you want I don't care I know what has happened to me and I have witnessed it first hand but the music you create makes me feel again for the short time I have here on this planet god bless you Tha k you for making me feel
A true beauty, timewise to my ear. That bright tone is gorgeous and suites the spring weather. I'm very curious, if there were just one, two or even three tunes and or performances that you would consider most moving and maybe even transcendent in the genre, which would they be?
I've got a Bacon Belmont (Gretsch) serial #2865. Don't know anything about it. Had it restored, but sure would like to know what year it was. BTW, I'm a huge fan of Appalachian music. Grew up on it down in the Ozarks of MO.

That's two-finger picking. I teach that and other simple, traditional styles at BanjoHeritage.com

Played from the heart ... That progression sounds alot like cannonball blues by the Carter family
One of my favorites, see also "buffalo to washington" and "all you fascists bound to loose" and many more.
Sounds like White House Blues which I think was the earliest version. Carter family did a version too.
@@NickleJ what you call "buffalo to Washington" is the White House Blues.

Lyrics of first song similar to Outside Woman Blues made famous by Cream and first recorded by Blind Joe Reynolds
Beautiful sound from a beautiful banjo played beautifully. 🪕
Funky looking banjo. But I can't imagine a pearloid fingerboard would last as well as ebony or similar wood.
Such a superb instrument.
Perhaps Old Leatherstocking should have a turn?
Need to make more albums !!!
That looks and sounds lush
So, I'm guessing this would be a Gretsch Broadkaster in a Bacon suit? They seem like twins to me.
I like Grandpa Jones version of the Cannonball blues also. Well done that's a great sounding banjo.
Great Voice and Playing. Dam ,that looks pretty nice cuzin🪕Wow, great history on that 🏵🤠🪕
She sounds beautiful!

Dam the sustain right out of the gates on that thing is pretty impressive
I agree. A bit of surprise, but then it is Clifton charming it ;-). One of the better-sounding vintage reso-banjos I’ve heard. Love the “inlays”.
STUNNINGLY beautiful banjo, both sight & sound. Would LOVE to hear it without the resonator. Awesome video, bud....!!!
saved from the clutches of mcoldtime
That was a _close_ call. 😂

Sweet! Great playing on a beautiful banjo. Interesting history. Authentic. Nicely done.

Sounds like solid gone by Doc Watson
Finally found that resonator you were looking for, huh? 👍😎
they sure don't make em like they used to
Wew that is a nice one damn
Beautiful banjo! Do you think that that pearloid would wear as well as ebony? Too bad it's not an open-back.
Clifton do you own any bluegrass banjos?
Hey Cliff, is this index lead? On the first song that is
Clifton do you ever black light any of the finishes on your old banjos?
Never have done that.
Thanks for the music. For those who wouldn't know him, I think you should try to listen To Delaney Davidson. Hello from France.
🙌🏿
Is this banjer for sell??
