I have followed your channel for probably a couple of years now. I bought an RD1 as a learning project which has turned out to be a lot of fun. When I start rebuilding the vehicle, I changed the timing belt, water pump, bought the oil pan gasket ( with the "T" at the end ), lash job, replaced the valve stem seals, the entire suspension, practically everything in your videos. At one point, when I was changing out the oil pan gasket I thought about this video and even watched it. I figured, nah, my vehicle is not leaking oil, I won't worry about it. After all this work, the vehicle runs great, I got about 30k miles with no issues but 3 weeks ago it developed the O-Ring oil leak. Now I'm undoing most of the work I did just to get this O-Ring. If you are changing out your timing belt and especially if you are removing the oil pan, I would change the O-Ring, like Phil says, "Your right there". I wish I did 😂 Thanks for the videos!
Lol i just spent all day doing the oil pan gasket, did the timing belt / waterpump etc last weekend. What do you know, still has a leak. Cant believe I overlooked this. Kicking myself.
Don't know how I missed this video. I replaced my timing set, crank seal, valve cover gasket, and pan gasket....then pan gasket again...then new pan and pan gasket 😆. Turns out it appears to have been this gasket. Thank you for solving my madness! I'm not looking forward per se to tearing it down again but I am looking forward to cleaning this up! Thank you!!
Your video is timely. My B-series Integra has an oil leak as the result of this o ring being 25 years old. I was curious how the oil pump was removed....now I know. Thanks!
I'm getting ready to work on my first honda. I am putting a jdm b20b into a 2001 crv with a b202z. Is there anything I need to do or swap from the 2z to the b? Thank you
great job! I now know the issue is with my 2001 CRV. I’m thinking about upgrading my CRV calipers and brakes to Acura TL type S brembos. It would be great to see how to do such upgrades 😊
I am woefully late to watching this excellent video, but given your are as deep into the disassembly as your are, what is your opinion on maybe putting in a new oil pump…? Thank you sir.
@The Honda Resource, at 11:42 and 13:20 you show the oil pump o-ring that fully fills up the groove. My Honda 91308-P3R-T01 o-ring does not fully fill the groove and leaves a 1mm gap. Any idea what might be occurring or if this is normal?
Just looking back at the video, if you look at about the 15 minute mark, you can see how I used a paint pen to mark the timing gear before I removed the belt. There is also a mark on the timing belt that correlates with that mark. I do that on both timing gears as well BEFORE removing the belt. Obviously, this method won't work if you are replacing the belt, but thought I would point that out.
@@hondaresource yea that's a great tip thank you. I'm changing my crank seal and oil pump o-ring but I got stuck at the part where I have to take off the timing belt and crank gear. Didn't wanna mess up the timing but now I know what to do.
Man! I wish I saw this video a few days ago. I just did my timing belt. I was going to replace the crank seal but I couldn’t get the timing belt gear off. I need to replace my oil pan gasket anyway. If I knew this I probably could have pried it off from the inside 😭😭😭
Can somebody make a video on a 1997 CRV on how to adjust and align rear wheels properly do you need shims do you need special Adjusters looking for an answer somebody please help
Okay what a bad wheel bearing cause that tired of be at that much of an angle to wear the inner side of it out everything is new bushings control arms shocks

@@hondaresource 💯 was my leak! The old seal was tough like taffy! A timely valve adjustment while I was at it and wow like a new b20 again!
Thank you for your generous labor...from Argentina..thank you.
so glad you got a video for this, not one video youve made that isnt a banger. out of curiosity how much do you charge for a job like this?
Love your videos brother. I've gained a lot of knowledge from your videos. 👍
Just got it back together did the same exact job you did when the new timing belt and everything it runs
Your video is timely.

thank you for the oil pan gasket tip they do make 1 now for the D series

Yeah what he said^^

Does it matter which way you line oil pump flat spot on crankshaft on B20
I got a 97 crv thats leaking oil from the driver side. Im just going to pull the motor out, so i can replace all the seals.

you could, but generally speaking, these pumps don't go bad
@@hondaresource ok great, thank you. I am now a new subscriber.
@@greggb1416 glad to have you here!
I got a new oil pump and the bottom bolts where it screws they are lose will they tighten when I tighten the nuts or I need to tighten them separately
Snug the bolts first
The crank shaft is a bar under the car from the end of to the front ?
I'm not sure I understand.
What lift are you using? Been looking at few different styles. Do you like it?
That one is a Bendpak 6xp. It worked well for me for 3 years. I have replaced it with a 2 post lift to suit my needs a little better.
Same part number for oil pump o-ring and timing cover for 2001 Acura Integra?
Should be
Is there a such thing as getting a oil pump out 180 as long as the flat spots line up on crank and oil pump it's okay right if it gets moved
Na. As long as it's on there you're good to go
Any idea why it was hard to start after doing all that work it runs great now once it started
I'm not sure

@@hondaresource You're a boss, thanks so much.
When you take the timing belt and crank gear off it doesn't mess with the timing?
It can, but just name sure you put it back in time. Timing these is fairly easy.

D17a with vtec
Do you think it's possible I can work on my CRV with you one day . I literally want to do all the work but with your guidance.
Maybe. Where you located?

Alabama
How long does a honda oil pump last? How would I know if its bad?
I've seen them last the lifetime of the engine. Low oil pressure could be a symptom
@@hondaresource Youre awesome dude. Thanks for the info.
How long did this take you to do
I can probably do it in 3-4 hours start to finish. Maybe faster.

Yes I have I took it to Goodyear twice it's got all new control arms new trailing arm bushings everything I could put on it was new
Why did they say take forever to Startup after I did all that work something to do with the timing the computer
It took a little bit to start?
Yes it took a little bit to start now it's running fine
Oh no !! 😅 Put on Oil pan bolts to hold on the oil pump!! They're little longer .. I sure hope it'll be okay 🤞
