    I specifically came online to find out how to use Todoist to set up RPM. Every time I try something else I come back to RPM. RPM (or OPA) is the absolute best at bringing your focus back to what you really want and reminding you of what you should be working on to get it. I really appreciate this video. Thanks again for posting it.

      I agree, Gordon. It really does help to keep you focused on what's important.

    This is a fantastic set up! I'll be re-working my Todoist this weekend because I love this so much. I've been looking for a way to make Todoist less of a task management system that runs me and more of a goal-driven system, so your timing couldn't be better.

      I made some modifications to my Todoist set up after researching and rewatching the Time Of Your Life Course. 👍😎

      Carl Pullein I'm trying to incorporate GTD & RPM to my Todoist setup. I think this will have a massive impact on my daily productivity.

    What a great video! Thank you! I've been using this RPM planning system off and on for several years now. Whenever I have used it, it has generally been very helpful...except for when it comes to scheduling things. Makes perfect sense though, as you yourself mentioned that it is indeed not a time management system, but rather a life management system. 👍🏾

      Thanks, Jason. I agree, the RPM method does work if you re willing to keep at it.

    You are a superstar. This is brilliant and to me makes a lot more sense than Evernote as you can assign dates and group (or chunk) similar tasks using the hash - such as all calls, emails, communications, errands etc...

    Looks like I've got some work to do. I've adopted a lot of what you have done in the vids on Todoist and Evernote. My projects for my 'work' category are literally every customer related sales activity I'm working on as for every sales project there are multiple tasks... Not sure how to rearchitect this model to the OPA in the 'work/professional area'. I can see several areas where I can adopt OPA.. overall account strategy, work development, etc but I still see a need to have individual projects for sales opportunities that track the tasks within them.

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  5 років тому

      Hi David, for me, OPA is really all about the outcome. What is it I want to achieve out of this project? That question alone reduces the number of tasks and focuses me on getting from where I am to where I want to be. The problem most of us suffer from (often without realising it) is we become task focused and not outcome focused. OPA put the outcome front and centre.
      I also still have a few projects laying around, but I am trying to put those into my areas of focus.

    Carl, I like this set up. I actually had this OPA system set up in OneNote. But I think I will experiment with it directly in Todoist (going from a pure GTD set up in that tool) to see how it works out. I'm curious, if you use OPA in Todoist, do you also use the same set up in your Evernote? I know you had an episode where you showed using OPA in Evernote. Thanks.

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  6 років тому

      Hi Yann, When I begin the planning process I always begin in Evernote. What I have done recently is to create my areas of focus around my roles and used the OPA descriptions as non-completable tasks at the top of each role (as per the video) This acts as a reminder for what I am doing. I still do the planning and thinking in Evernote though.

    • @TechGuyEli

      Thanks Carl. I just turned this RPM layout into an importable template file to use for new projects in Todoist. Also, in addition to the standard Outcome-Purpose-Action sections , I added sections for "LINKS" and "NOTES". We'll see how it goes!

    Did you buy the RPM binder? Is it worth it?

    • @Carl_Pullein
      @Carl_Pullein  5 років тому +1

      No. I prefer to keep everything digital these days. I have the workbook and have developed a system around the workbook.

    • @gdehoyos006
      @gdehoyos006 5 років тому +1

      I’ve bought it. The audio CDs are worth it. The binder....not so much. It’s clunky and hard to access your daily tasks.

    • @MuzeecX
      @MuzeecX 5 років тому

      @@gdehoyos006 Yup I bought it and returned it. It was way too bulky and heavy. I cannot imagine carrying that on top of my laptop and other books in my backpack. I wish they had a more "slim" version or even better a dedicated app for RPM.

      OPA/RPM is more a life management system and currently that is being developed in my Apple Notes. But the daily tasks and the chunking do move over to Todoist.
