  • Learn how to grow an avocado from a seed into a tree. I took a grocery store avocado and 3 years later have a 15 foot tree - in this video I share my tips and tricks to help you grow your own avocado tree.
I'm located in Phoenix, AZ, USA (25F - 120F) and if I can grow an avocado here, then you can grow one too! Please let me know if you have any questions and I will answer them in the comments.

Your video is gold. I really believe we don't need agriculture experts to lecture us on how to grow avocados. We need real life normal people to show us how we can do it too. Thanks for showing your passion through these videos. Keep it up!

Thank you - I really appreciate the words of encouragement. Let's hope we both can share avocados from seedlings someday!

    1. Don't use the water and toothpick method of sprouting avocado seeds. That's designed to keep children entertained. Put the seed in soil so the roots can properly develop by anchoring themselves early in the process. 2. Don't plant avocado seedlings. Avocados seedlings have a 1 in 10,000 chance of being any good (taste, disease resistance, oil content, consistency, etc) as they do not come true from seed and you may have to wait 8 to 10 years to find that out. Get yourself a grafted avocado instead.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree it is rare the taste from a seedling will be good, but if the process is fun and the tree is beautiful, then I still call it a win. I also have Hass, Zutano, Mexicola, and Aravaipa grafted varieties in my yard.

Anything specific you would differ with? I don't see avocados often doing well in Phoenix AZ, so I think I must be doing something right!
