  • We replace the rear axle check straps on a 1971 MGB GT with nylon straps instead of the rubber ones as original

    Great video! I add anti seize to the sleeve and bolts/nuts so that in the future I will not have easier time removing them.

    Man i wished I saw this video before attempting to remove that nut! Lol mine broke right off even after soaking it with penetrating oil. Plan to just tack weld the washer. Lol

    I had assumed that they had sent me the ones for a lowered car when I set them against the car while it was jacked up, so that job had moved down my to-do list. Doh. Just need to jack each side of the axle one by one. Will give it a go when I get some time. Would assume that jacking the second side up becomes more difficult with the first one in place... ? Will share my findings. ;-)

    You show that the lower nut often gets seized on the stud. Would it make sense to mount the new nut with some copper grease or other anti-seize grease? That would make life easier for the next guy who needs to replace the strap.
