Retrospect is the third live album released by the Dutch symphonic metal band Epica in celebration of their tenth anniversary. The recorded live show took part in Eindhoven, Netherlands on March 23, 2013 at the Klokgebouw and was sold out. Because of the great demand by international fans, Epica announced a live stream, called the Retrostream, on March 4, 2013. Epica performed on stage with the same orchestra that accompanied Epica in the recording of the live album The Classical Conspiracy: the 70-piece Extended Hungarian Remenyi Ede Chamber Orchestra and the Choir of Miskolc National Theatre. The expanded ensemble mostly played Epica songs, including a whole new song called Retrospect, especially written for this live show with the same name. Like on The Classical Conspiracy, Epica played some classical music, excerpts from operas and movie soundtracks, however not as many as on the aforementioned show. The album was released on CD, DVD and Blu-ray on November 8, 2013 through Nuclear Blast Records. Before the release of the show on Blu-ray and DVD, the show premiered at two movie theaters: the Mathäser Multiplex Kino in Munich, Germany and the Service Bioscoop Zien in Eindhoven, Netherlands, although there it was also showed in a Mexican cinema (the Cineteca Nacional).

I was at this show. It lasted 3 hours. It was just amazing. I still have the signed poster framed hanging in my livingroom. A concert I will never forget.

2013 Eindhoven ... I was there ... an amazing event, full orchestra and choir ... the crowd was amazing. I realy enjoyed this evening. :)

By the way, this whole thing on stage WORKED because all the elements decided to concentrate on the whole finished product. I detect a strong lack of self centered ego through out. That means that all of these folks behaved like ADULTS .

Well, to be honest, seeing their interactions in any video (be it live, vlogs, instagram stories or videos and stuff), they seem like a really tight ensemble and everyone seems to have as much importance as the next member.
If you go back to their youth and the 'we will take you with us' sessions you can see the total respect for choir and orchestra right from the beginning

When this craziness is over, John you should look into going on 70,000 Tonnes of Metal. It's a 3 day metal cruise where big name metal bands play. I have 3 friends who volunteer every year and love it. This year they saw Epica and Kamelot.
Been on the cruise 4 times now. Best vacations ever!
