- I sat down with Jim Varney (The "Hey Vern!" guy) in 1993 for the film, "The Beverly Hillbillies." We talked about his early TV series with Jamie Lee Curtis, the ups and downs of his most famous character: Ernest Worrell, the challenges of playing Jed Clampett, and more.

Ernest was my childhood friend. I owe him dearly for that
Me too man. I loved him even more than Pee Wee. Ernest Saves Christmas is still the best Christmas film ever made along with The Ref and Ernest Goes To Jail was so very awesome.
SUCH AN EXCELLENT ACTOR WHO DIDNT GET THE RESPECT HE DESERVED THERE WAS MORE TO HIM THAN JUST ERNEST
A lot of people never took him seriously because of the Ernest character but he was a Shakespearian trained actor
It's just like Robin Williams and Jim Carrey.
Some of the ernest movies are serious 🔥
Ernest scared stupid
Ernest goes to school
Ernest in jail
So many people don't know that about him. I absolutely loved him and he was so good as Jed Clampett. I wish we had a chance to see him do more serious parts.
I can’t think of any one other person I’d rather meet than Jim.
Ernest will always be a legend character. Fuck the critics.
Thank you Jim for making my childhood awesome. Rest Peacefully
I love when he makes himself laugh. Too darn cute.
Very comfortable with himself and humble just a natural and unassuming. What a talented man and well spoken.
This guy was super underrated. Rest In Peace.
His rendering of Hot Rod Lincoln is just awe inspiring.
Shakespeare, Ernest, Jed Clampett and Colonial Cody. Great actor.
Hard to believe I dated him once upon a time. My older sister had classes with him at Lafayette high School. She was really struck on him. But I happened to meet him one night when he came to the restaurant Frisch's to pick up his friend. And so we dated quite a lot. I learned that he liked dramatic acting like Shakespeare. He told me one day he was going to make it big and of course he did. The last time I heard from him he wanted me to come to Hollywood with him. I told him I would have to think about it. When I got off the phone and told my mother her reply was if I did that she would disown me. I guess she was afraid I would end up getting hurt. So I didn't go and that was the end of that relationship. I was just 17 years old.
What could have been but never was. Hope your life was excellent and you made it yourself.
That's pretty amazing. What a story
Whoa…
Same
So could Varney lay down the pipe ?
LOVE JIM VARNEY WITH ALL MY HEART AND ALWAYS WILL
Rest In Peace Mr. Varney, the only wish I could make would be to have seen you in more, there’s not a better actor anywhere.
Such a nice guy has left us too soon 😔
We will miss you Jim. I will forever say "How 'bout a bumper sandwich booger lips." When I hit people with my car.

This man is a treasure and he is truly missed.
Jim was such a sweet, talented guy. I really miss seeing him in films
An amazing, amazing actor.
I truly love him in all of his films and TV shows ❤
2:14 the critics weren’t children, if they weren’t children then they couldn’t possibly understand what his movies meant.
Rip 🙏 truly a legend
The man was thankful for what he accomplished. Dying with a net worth of $12 million is no small accomplishment.

Your the interviewer here?
Yes I am
@@take2markTV excuse my French but that's bad fucking ass man thanks for the reply
@@take2markTV you are a lucky man. I’ve heard he was a really nice guy!
He not dead in 1993, he alive.
RiP man
that's not jim varney, that's david lee roth!
This interviewer is trying to upset him. All these barbed questions.
Was he gay?
No he wasn’t! He was just very articulate and educated. He was a devout Christian also!
Nah, the 80s was just his dacade and it stuck lol. All joking aside, he was just an artist and had the eccentricities of an artist. Plus, with his redneck heritage, he liked shiny things.
