A year on I find myself back watching this again. A terrific rendition of a great composition written in a difficult time signature, Bravo to these guys! - i wonder how the hell they are now, all these years later with the world so much more f*cked up than it was then (and it wasn't great then either...)
AWESOME. Saw both Bruford line ups. With Holdsworth and also the 'Unknown' John Clark. You guys did them proud. So sorry to hear both the drummer and the bass player have passed. The man upstairs must've needed a good rhythm section. Peace.
Marcus was a designer at Oberheim when they made the Matrix-12 he's playing here, so I'm not surprised it sounds great here! (He went on to co-found Line 6.)
Fantastic version. Saw it live back in 79/80 on the Brand X/Bruford doublebill tour - not with Holdsworth, but with The Unknown John Clark on guitar. And a pretty fine fist he made of it too. Great to see so much Line 6 kit in evidence. So sorry to read about the passing of your pal on the skins & cymbals. Peace.
AMAZING!!!! I grawed up with Bruford...and I started to play 'cuz I was in love with his music! You did a really GREAT job with this tune! BRAVI!!!!! 5000000000/5 Fabio
Mad kudos to all for pulling this off. I have a fusion group that does 5G and Forever Until Sunday, and I know how challenging these tunes are- not only to play, but to do justice to. Right on!!
OMG ! This is fantastic! AND the guitar player pulled off the Holdsworth parts ! This is amazing! I saw UK live in Detroit in 1979 ! or was it 80? OK it was the 80's ..... you understand. Peace from Detroit MI.
Fantastic job on HB guys. I used to have a band in the early 80's and we always opened with this. You guys are much better than we were though. I remember seeing Bruford play this in Milwaukee. They opened the show with it too. The pulsing synth part started w/o Bruford on stage. He slowly meandered out onto the stage and sat down at his kit a nano-second before he kicked it into gear. What a class act.
Yeah i agree with all the top posts you guys nailed it and it looked like you had alot of fun doing it. Outstanding! I remember playing free concerts in the park during the spring and summer and this was one of our favorites. You guys rock!
Re: people walking by and through the performance, oblivious: Brian Plummer had a band from western Canada called "Treena" and the singer, on occasion of knowing that whatever amazing Genesis cover they were going to do was NOT going to be received by the "rank and file" because of their collective permanent lapse in taste used to introduce the piece thusly: "Stuff THIS into your brains, kids!" Kudos for being undaunted during an amazing undertaking.
TOTALLY, COMPLETELY STUPENDOUSLY FUCKIN AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! DAMN YOU GUYS PLAYED THAT PERFECTLY!!! THAT WAS SO OUTSTANDING!!!! YYYEEEAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Dave Stewart has (off and on) been making albums with Northettes singer Barbara Gaskin--a mix of originals and covers. He also does TV music, I believe.
that was SO. COOL. WOW!!!! WAY better ending btw, but I think the best ending would be to make that last note short like the first time. We all know that part is like the best part of the song LOL
Very accurate sonically, especially with the guitar and synth parts. This is *by far* the best cover of this tune on youtube etc.... there are quite a bunch, and (with the obvious exception of this version), they are *horrible*.
The best cover of that song I've heard. Flawless.

Marcus was a designer at Oberheim when they made the Matrix-12 he's playing here, so I'm not surprised it sounds great here! (He went on to co-found Line 6.)
More please.

This is a damn good cover.
This is fantastic! You guys really groove, and that glassy guitar tone during the keyboard solo is inspired.
Justice has been done! All of you are great! Love this song... Thanks
Fantastic! These guys are unbelievably good to play complex music like this so faithful to the original. 5 Stars!!!
Wow! Sorry to hear that Shaun is no longer with us, his groove & chops are excellent.

Fantastic! Love the synth, almost like the original. Great work, keep it up!
Really, really great job on such a difficult tune. I saw the real deal play this themselves, and you're not far off.

Wow, you guys nailed it! Not an easy feat considering the personnel and performances on the original.
Thanks for posting this.
RIP usually implies that sad fact. excellent and brings back memories of high school. I used to study to that album...on vinyl!
Very well done!! Thanks for posting!
Fantastic!
awesome cover
Wow! Nice stuff. Dave Stewart's kbrd parts are monster in this piece. The dude on keys does a really solid job of putting it down.
I wish I could go to one of their concerts.
Dave Stewart has (off and on) been making albums with Northettes singer Barbara Gaskin--a mix of originals and covers. He also does TV music, I believe.

Yes. Shaun Guerin died in 2003.
Wow. Summer? Picnic? Concert? Wtf do those words mean? Are they old anglo-saxon? (Covid 2021)
Did this drummer pass away?
Who gave these guys permission to shred so hard
Very accurate sonically, especially with the guitar and synth parts. This is *by far* the best cover of this tune on youtube etc.... there are quite a bunch, and (with the obvious exception of this version), they are *horrible*.
How Did Shaun G Pass Anyway?
