Haha, a new coffee video, now I could certainly do that, I would love to do that. Thank you Richard, I will add it to the list for this fall/winter. Best regards, TGV
I always travel with: A maxpedition slingbag - I'm disabled so these work great One of my titaniium protreks watches Prw-60 or Prw-70 If its a few days my Citizen snow birds Skyhawk AT and my seiko prospex SRPD31K1 that I put on a matt finish jubilee bracelet from uncle seiko. Seiko Flighty is indeed the ultimate traveler's watch. Waterproof, with the second time zone, alarm, chronograph, sturdy case, and bracelet that can take the beating.
Tale of Knives or Hitch & Timber for a better quality organizer. You could also check out Chris Reeve Knives, Okluma, and Tactile Turn, if you’re interested in upgrading your edc. All made in the US high quality gear.
Nice job TGV. One travel essential: As my normal stomping ground is South America I've learned to travel with a modest wedge of U$20 bills. Sometimes only cash will do, and the Jackson is the lingua franca of currencies.
Very nice travel/EDC gear. For my 1-week-trip to the Netherlands I ended up taking with me the do-it-all Sinn 556i, the summer fun watch Seiko 5KX and the dependable Seiko SSC009 ("Solar Flighty"). The Quartz Seiko turned out to be a good choice, because handling hypercharging cables for the electric car does not go well with mechanical watches. 😬
I remember buying a sandisk mp3 player about 15 years ago, downloaded a custom rom which gave me more settings for the sound. It was the best MP3 back in time and for anyone who love micromanaging their songs and settings, it’s still the best.
Nicely done, TGV. Couldn’t be more appropriately timed as people are globally breaking travel records right now. Logistics and regulations are still trying to play catch up, but we are definitely on the up swing. I also travel with bluetooth/external speakers. Can’t be beat for certain situations. The waterproof bluetooth ones are the best. My son has been pretty adamant about the MP3 players. I may have to look into that as it might be quite useful. I hate taking up space on my phone and if I can’t stream music then that might be a solution. Completely agree regarding the Sennheiser earbuds. They aren’t a hugely known name in the US, but they are FANTASTIC. TGV and Tacti-COOL shorts. I never would have guessed! What man doesn’t live for pockets!?! I can’t wrap my head around the new “Fanny pack” resurgence. They say fashion is cyclical, but never did I think that trend would return. Funny how the original term HAS NOT returned! PS Vita forever! Mine is long lost. Have a Switch but miss my DS and Vita for sure. I love your Carl Friederich bags. Bit modern for my taste but nicely made. My gear gets utterly beat to death. For that I want something that is ABSOLUTELY and UTTERLY rugged. No frills, no luxury but entirely forever functional. For my travel roll aboard you cannot get a more robust bag than from LuggageWorks. 90% of all airline pilots use them, and there is a reason for it. Not cheap but will last you forever. For my personal bag I recommend Brightline for a flight/compartment bag and for something far more classic and nice look at Saddleback leather. Top shelf. Must get a copy of Meditations. Always, always dress well. I cannot stand this current “athleisure”, don’t care what the world thinks of me, ultra dressed down, travel in pajamas, utter lack of self respect trend, I fly in crocs mentality. Trust me. I don’t care who you are p, how you present yourself matters. If you look like you just rolled out of a laundry basket, you will be regarded less well than if you put effort in. Argue all you want, but it is a fact. America especially has been displaying a sincere indifference to attending to their appearance, and we are being looked at as simple tourists and low class by much of the rest of the modern world. Anywhere else you go (and I go most places), people put effort into how they look. This American trend of putting so much effort into looking like garbage boggles the mind. You don’t need to wear a suit, but wake up and try one something other than your gym clothes. *rant over* Look at Walker and Hawkes for extremely well made, classic, British brand, and made in Britain outerwear. Not modern at all. More gentrified look but excellent. Watches. Always fly with a GMT and a Wolf watch roll with three other pieces. Usually a diver for overnight casual wear, a chronograph or beater, and often a dressier piece just in case. Footwear, fly in oxfords or boots, normally enjoy Sperry’s for the layovers. Not a sneaker guy unless I am working out. Also, a big fan of Clark’s footwear. Gerber shard for those who fly and want a multi tool. Rotring pen. Always! Oakley Holbrook or American Optical for sunglasses. Timeless choices, TGV! Excellent video. Thanks ever so much! Hope your travels are safe and comfortable. I’ll see you out there. Onward and upward, my friend.
Engineer in the maritime industry so usually travel three watches : a nice watch, a G-Shock and my running watch. For other accessories I swear by anker power supplies with two outputs. I recently upgraded to all USB-C power blocks which is really help with managing devices on the road.
Watches; Tissot Gentelman for formal or everyday, Seiko SKX007 for scuba and snorkeling or Certina DS Action Diver, Tissot V8 automatic Chronograph for driving or Straton Daily Driver Chronograph. Shoes; Italian Superga sneakers, Chukkas by Thursday Boot Co. a NY company but handcrafted in Mexico, at $145 you can't get better. For working out Feiyues for Kung Fu. (I have a very wide foot so my shoe brand options are limited). I have my Opinel knife for fruit, cheese or boxes etc. and the very same Doss speaker (both on your recommendation). I tend to dress classic, navy Harrington jacket, dark jeans or Levi chinos, Fred Perry polos and various Banana Republic stuff. I wear glasses with transition lenses from Curry & Paxton the Yvans, the very same ones Michael Caine wears in the Harry Palmer movies and the Italian Job. Again a great video with great ideas. Thanks!
I don't travel these days without a little pocket notebook and a mechanical pencil. I use the back for some useful phrases in the local language which can be helpful in a pinch. As for the rest, I fill with general observations, interesting bits of information that I might want to look into further, or just to write about anything that inspires me! Great video as always TGV.
A bit simpler here: When traveling within Europe exclusively my samsonite carry on and a cabin zero back pack. A power bank. When it comes to shoes brand there is only one for me: Geox. I pretty much gave up on anything else because Geox always knocks it out of the park
Great vid!! Love your “not only watches” ones! Absolutely helpful and lovely presented . I just got back from a 12 day trip to northern Italy 💙!! Took 3 watches, but I wore only one of them, almost the hole trip-Citizen Promaster diver’s 200 satellite wave gps (super titanium). Enjoyed every second with it!! Thanks 😊
Good job on the retro handhelds. The Vita was way ahead of it's time and the original OLED screen model still looks amazing today. I have a pair of suede desert boots (much like your Clarks) in cognac from M&S. Another fave EDC of mine is my small Anker power bank which has got me out of trouble a few times.
Love the video! I go with a GoRuck GR2 34L pack, NiteIze and Vanquest packing cubes, Bellroy Tech and Toiletry kit pouches, Merino Tees and Henleys and 1 button down. Merino socks and boxers. I'm using Vivo Barefoot shoes (white leather pair and black athletic pair). Gore Wear R7 Trail rain jacket and pants, Montbell umbrella. NiteCore NB10000 battery chargers x2, Anker charging block. My EDC includes a bunch of different knives, but lean toward the Protech Malibu, Tactile aturn Rockwell, Spyderco Sage 5 lightweight. Torch is Reylight mini pineapple. Pen is Tactile Turn Side Click or Urban Survival TiBolt. I like a fidget and Lautie makes some great ones. Wallet is Open Sea Leather Topsider.
Hmm. 1. Tortuga Setout 45L Bag. Love the ease of carry with it. Let's me save money on checked bags while maximizing what I can bring. 2. My foldable day-pack. Because I can't carry my luggage backpack everywhere after I arrive. 3. Usually a comfy pair of Nikes, jet black, although beyond that I'm not very picky. 4. Bose earbuds. Perfect for all manner of planes, trains, and automobiles. 5. At least just one Polo. Works if I ever need to appear decent. 6. My trusty Sammy. My Planet Ocean 39,5mm on an Artem Sailcloth Strap. Rugged sports watch that has just enough flash/class to work in more formal occasions. Performs like a top too. 7. Power Bank. Keep your phone alive, and it'll keep you alive.
Oh memories. I had Sandisk Clip+ about 10 years ago. Tiny little powerhouse with custom Rockbox firmware. I am a big fan of Air Max 90's. Something to do with school years in nineties and oh boy they were pricey then. Now days I have three pairs: surplus black/infrared, terrascape whites and basic black. Btw couple years back you made video about jackets. Arktis Avenger cought my eye and now I own one. Crazy utilitiarian but I love it. Love these videos. Keep them comming.
My Travel/EDC are a pair of Bluetooth earbuds, powerbank, Tablet for watching UA-cam content and listening to music a wash bag for my Razor, Toothbrush etc. My weekend bag is a Barbour holdall which holds everything i need in. Talking about Chukka boots i got a pair of Loake Pimlico in a recent sale for £105 in Brown suede which was a great find as i am only a size 5 in footwear and trying to find decent footwear is difficult. The watches i take on a trip are my Tag Heuer Aquaracer and my Seiko Flightmaster
Loves these videos. I always learn something new. I'm off travelling shortly, part work, part vacation, my main considerations are always footwear and watches. Definitely have a pair of shoes for the evenings, I'm a brogue man. Also, toiletries! Always go for the smallest, compact versions I can find.
Has anyone every noticed how much you look like the actor Burn Gorman? Check out S9E8 of Sunny in Philadelphia. The scientist. Anyway, I love your work, thank you so much for the work you do!
I bought a Casio dw290 fro your recommendation and the first thing I did was remove the gaudy printing with nail varnish remover as I like the look of yours minus the green text.
Totally agree on Sennheiser ear buds - I’ve used a pair for years, the sound quality is truly superb. I have some JBL Bluetooth ear buds, but the Sennheisers blow them out of the water - and they never need charging or pairing with my devices. I don’t listen to music while I’m walking - I concentrate on walking, so the whole wireless thing is a waste of time for me.
Love this! I've just landed in the tropics , here to play some gigs and have a holiday.working holiday I guess. I live in New Zealand. Because of the weight restrictions as I'm carrying so much music gear I could only bring two watches ! First thing I noticed upon landing was my wrist swelling up meaning I can't wear my beloved Stratton Local Time as I have the jolly micro adjust at it's max setting , so I grabbed my Chronos GMT ( Rolex GMT homage , I REFUSED to get a fake !) and got my tool and adjusted the micro adjust. I can take this piece snorkeling as it's 200m rated. My point is to take a jeweller tool (please forgive me I don't know the name of the tool, I just know how to use it 😂) with you when traveling overseas so you can adjust your bracelet to fit!
Going to Spain for 3 weeks this month. While my wife agonizes what clothes to I worry about which watch or knife to bring. After all the world timers and GMT watches I have I'm bringing my seiko digi tuna. I have to attend a wedding while I'm there and the seiko ain't too dressy but keeping it simple.
Great video as always and very apt as I'm going on a vacation in a few weeks. The only thing I will be taking is my Osprey backpack my newly bought and very comfortable Reebok trainers and watch of choice. It might be my new microbrand diver, or my Seiko sto turtle, or most likely as mentioned in your last video my go to holiday watch, Invicta pro Diver. Choices choices! Super video and great insight into your travel needs. Safe travels my friend 👍
As a fashion photographer I always make sure I bring a power strip with me. I charge a lot of items lol. That travel bag is pretty nice. I may have to look into it.
You wouldn’t believe it TGV, but I was looking at photos of King George V’s Britannia when I got the notification for this vid. The Britannia had the daring spoon-shaped bow. The Explorer looks really good on that RAF strap - can’t go wrong with a single pass strap. I usually travel a Tumi garment bag, their nylon is really tough. Boring but tough.
"I don't want to run down the battery only phone" There is almost no difference in power draw on a modern smart phone when playing music vs. being on standby as long as the screen is not active. But you do you.
Superb! ps.I don't know if Troy Hawke's David Niven-esque humour is to TGV's taste, but I found this hilarious on youtube:* | Greeters Guild | National Galleries of Scotland | Troy Hawke |* 🤣🤣
Another great video with excellent staples for travel. These days - I always travel with some emergency back up power bank. Its become an essential piece of kit for me.
I love these EDCesque videos from the The Urban Gentry. They introduced me to the concept years ago. I still buy NB trainers!!!
I’d say the no.1 thing needed for travel is infinite patience - especially with British public transport…
🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏 Well said my friend, well said indeed.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
🤣 that’s if they’re not striking
And also a knife for self defence.
Or the US airlines. The airports here look like refugee camps.
Rofl!
These vids are a real staple of the channel! How about an update on that moody, early coffee video? 😀
Haha, a new coffee video, now I could certainly do that, I would love to do that.
Thank you Richard, I will add it to the list for this fall/winter.
Best regards,
TGV
A urban gentry video comes up. I click straight away 👍

always my kindle and sometimes my kindle fire
For travel past a day my wired sienisser urban headphones and my wireless seinhessiers. I switch between the too depending on situation and comfort
A good water bottle (insulated cause I like cold water)
Watch content is always entertaining, however I enjoy when you branch out to other areas even more
I'm getting ready for a big trip (Paris, Athens, Cairo, Nile cruise, Frankfurt) next month - this video has come at the perfect time!
Thank you very much for responding and sharing the details…..❤
The intro is amazing!
Thank you TGV for such a short and sweet yet very informative edc video!! Stay healthy and well as always!! (Nicholas)
Seiko Flighty is indeed the ultimate traveler's watch. Waterproof, with the second time zone, alarm, chronograph, sturdy case, and bracelet that can take the beating.
Om Unit and Goldie on the SanDiscs, Good tunes TGV!
PSVita love! Never travel without it.
I would like travel with a TGV because I would then always know what I really should be having. Love these lifestyle vids as always!
Thank you Jay, very kind of you to say.
Best regards,
TGV
I love a pair of slip on shoes for flying, Chelsea boots or boat shoes or even cowboy boots. The easy off easy on though security is great.
Tale of Knives or Hitch & Timber for a better quality organizer. You could also check out Chris Reeve Knives, Okluma, and Tactile Turn, if you’re interested in upgrading your edc. All made in the US high quality gear.
Always love these more general discussions and you are clearly one of the most well-appointed gents I know! Well done, bro!
Nice job TGV. One travel essential: As my normal stomping ground is South America I've learned to travel with a modest wedge of U$20 bills. Sometimes only cash will do, and the Jackson is the lingua franca of currencies.
Oh, and the Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic. Best travel option i own, good in the wild and the swanky restaurant.
I always look forward to see your edc and trip essential type videos.
Thanks TGV! Always a pleasure, nice bit of kit you've got there. 😎
Love it TGV, top man! 🦖

Are there any studies regarding the radiation of electric car chargin Hubs and how they affect mechanical watches? Would be very interested in that!
@@MJ1105sSince the electric current is relatively high I expect a level of magnetism thag could harm the accuracy.
my travel pack is the 42L cotopaxi allpa. fit everything you need, laptop, clothes, tools, shoes, whatever. 200 bucks from REI.

You should consider more minimalist shoes with no heel drop and a wider toe box! They have changed my life as an athlete. Love these videos.
Good call with Loake, their brogues age so well. Great episode, just what a wet Scottish Saturday needed. 👍🏴

That I would stay so late in this video and see TGV have an essential "κομπολόι"... that made my day. Grazie mille for your videos man!!!
Brilliant, I love your watch content but it's always nice to see a bit of satorial content. Keep up the good work
Thank you Kristian, so happy to hear that.

The beemer is awesome
A bit simpler here:

I can't travel without my Ralph Lauren jackets. they are timeless, high quality, and age well.
Two EDCs that I always bring with me when I travel is a power bank with built in cables and sanitising wipes.
Awesome video, and the shots of Philly are always welcome. Billy Penn statue, Delaware River… great stuff.
80s,90s retro computer gamer here. You rock mentioning MS-DOS!!!!!
Anyone has to match his watch collection hobby with his outfit and lifestyle and this channel is doing that effectively and beautifully…
Bless him
Thanks 😊
Love that Harrington!
i love those shoes
Very inspiring
Always keeping the komboloi close! Nice! Great video T!
traveled with my TUG approved Squale 1521 recently to my wife's home country of Norway..... I felt well healed, set and very high class :)
Good job on the retro handhelds. The Vita was way ahead of it's time and the original OLED screen model still looks amazing today.

Had no idea you had such an A1 video game collection. Even more respect for you now!
Another great video brother 👏 a lot of fantastic options here!
Dang I was hoping you’d have the new Dan Henry 1975 to review
Deffo on the hit list!
Stay tuned my friend.

Oh memories. I had Sandisk Clip+ about 10 years ago. Tiny little powerhouse with custom Rockbox firmware.

Btw couple years back you made video about jackets. Arktis Avenger cought my eye and now I own one. Crazy utilitiarian but I love it. Love these videos. Keep them comming.
Lighter, even though I don't smoke, I always carry a lighter. Think of it as a backup flashlight.
HOLY COW!!! I was JUST looking for a bag that would do what the bag you are holding at 7:19 does! Thanks!!
My Travel/EDC are a pair of Bluetooth earbuds, powerbank, Tablet for watching UA-cam content and listening to music a wash bag for my Razor, Toothbrush etc. My weekend bag is a Barbour holdall which holds everything i need in. Your doing some serious merchandising

Great vid TGV, your right about Stone Island over here in the UK. Top quality, but won't wear it because of that association, a shame.
Thank you for recommending the Sandisk mp3 players! I'm also a guy who don't listen music on the phone to save battery life.
I was going to say "Johnny Bags". Then I saw your t-shirt.
Check out Tale of Knives for a high end organizer for your pens and such. Great American made quality!

#1 travel accessory….buxom red headed cocktail waitress.
Next time you travel across the pond could you demonstrate how to use a GMT watch? Thanks.
DOS?? MP3s?? Are we in the 90s?? Haha! Love it TGV!

My main travel accentual is , stay at home!
Private White top choice and anti CHAV
Great video as always and very apt as I'm going on a vacation in a few weeks. The only thing I will be taking is my Osprey backpack my newly bought and very comfortable Reebok trainers and watch of choice. It might be my new microbrand diver, or my Seiko sto turtle, or most likely as mentioned in your last video my go to holiday watch, Invicta pro Diver. Choices choices! Super video and great insight into your travel needs. Safe travels my friend 👍
Only essential things I'm taking I meant..... Of course I will also be taking some clothes with me, I usually do 🤣
Great selection!
You should enable the option "Become a member" if UA-cam allows you too.
Tristan, love how you mentioned Stone Island sub-cultures! Of the football kind... Nice one fella. Love the videos. Have a good one.
My personal valet is the very best. Money well spent over the years.
Binoculars and my Sinn857UTC
koboloi?
i see youre a man of culture as well
As a fashion photographer I always make sure I bring a power strip with me. I charge a lot of items lol. That travel bag is pretty nice. I may have to look into it.
Man looks like he packed on a bit of that hard-earned ectomorph muscle! Respect! Keep up the good work
Interesting content. Keep up the good work on your channel. Regards, WR4K.
Surprised your still on UA-cam... Should be banned !
TGV I believe Cole Hann is owned by Nike. I love your intros. Keep em coming.
Please make a shirt with the logo, that would be nice
Great video. I always travel with an Anker 3in1 wireless charging pad to keep my IPhone, watch and airpods charged in my hotel room.
Essentials? Amex platinum, Cartier panthere, phone, sunglasses and toothbrush!
"I'm sorry, sir. We don't take Amex". ;-)
"I don't want to run down the battery only phone"
There is almost no difference in power draw on a modern smart phone when playing music vs. being on standby as long as the screen is not active. But you do you.
I remember buying carl friedrik wallet for $60 and now same wallet is $105. thanks for the recommendation years ago
Superb! ps.I don't know if Troy Hawke's David Niven-esque humour is to TGV's taste, but I found this hilarious on youtube:* | Greeters Guild | National Galleries of Scotland | Troy Hawke |* 🤣🤣
Another great video with excellent staples for travel. These days - I always travel with some emergency back up power bank. Its become an essential piece of kit for me.
I have a pair of Loake Pimlicos - great shoes. Still use the trusty IPod for listening to music.
