Hi Will, I'm a boater. I find your vlogs very useful when I'm planning trips. You've been (amost) everywhere, so I know that if I scroll down your long long long list of vlogs, I can very likely find one where I'm planning to go. You are a legend in my boating life! Dirty thumbs up!
I'm from Newark, Hawtonvillieer Mushyky. 😆😆 not toooo Lovely in the 70/80/90's A very Hard town. but the History is behond amazing. Youve just Passed through the "Key" town to the North and South.. check out our Civil war History.. The town was put under siege for 5 year, and Cromwell tried to starve us . but NEWARKERS are made up of stronger stuff .. used to jump off the top of Newark castle into the Trent and swim alover the weirs 🤪🤪 but defo NOT Cromwell weir.. That was Staythope Gas power station. great videos.. next time your at Fardon marina, ask for Tim Whittaker, tell him Graham R&k records, says hello..
Yeah the history is amazing. Jump off the castle? That's a long way down, fun though. I heard from the locals it was rough but it's got better. Now the whole world is under siege but a new clever type of siege with no walls you know. R&k records wow. Thanks for the info buddy. Take care
The pony is Hercules and he gives a nasty bite. If you had gone to the end of Mill Gate you would have found The Queens Sconce. Civil War enactments are held in the park there
It’s great that you include Google Earth to show exactly where you are. In the past I have always googled Earth to see where people are exactly. Great vlog.
Great video, as always. How old was the castle in Newark? Didn't hear that part. I'm amazed that the power boats with big engines don't have the courtesy to slow down and leave such a big wake when they pass. Huh Hope Shui had a nice trip home. Will miss her smiley face. Take care and travel safe out there.
I often hear that you shouldn’t do certain things, like sitting beside the tiller in case it hits an obstruction and flings you overboard. Seems to make sense, BUT I’d really be interested to know if it ever actually happened to anyone? Or is it just a sensible precaution? Thanks
I have spoken to boaters and it's happened to them but I've not experienced such a thing. When reversing into shallow water it will happen if the tiller hits something. I just don't want to go in the water, Ever..Ha Thanks for the interesting question.
Need to build yourself a little autopilot then you could have a mug of tea in one hand a nice big piece of cake in the other. Newark looked beautiful, according to the info board it was not the place to be years ago though but I expect so many places were the same when the industrial revolution was going on and people were crammed in tiny houses, with sewage running down the alleyways, and a tin bath in front of the fire (if they were lucky enough to have a fire and a tin bath) it would be much worse if you were the last one in line to use the bathwater, after everyone had been in it ! Look after yourself Will and make sure you have enough to eat, you are really going to miss those beautiful meals not being cooked for you, and just when you were getting used to it too, life can be hard at times Will. Ha ha.
Ha ha it must of been a hard life back then. I will miss Shui's cooking. It was lovely. Newark is an amazing place to visit. All the little streets bursting with history. Glad you enjoyed it Peter. Take care bud.
Well, half of the A team is shooting away on the train, but Captain Will can handle the tiller with his back. How far down his back I dont know, but he did have a funny grin. Another wonderful history trip and sight seeing vlog. Can tick another one of the list, BEEN TO NEWARK. Thanks Will, time for one of the boys to join their ol man for a weekend cruising. Take care mate.
Ha ha ha how far down we don't know but he had a funny grin. Made me laugh out loud. I have Mr Leon coming on board but abit later. He's here now between you and me but in the vlog I'm weeks away. The Trent gets bigger. Cheers Phil.
Really enjoyed your trip up the river and walk around Newark, thx for sharing.
It was my pleasure. Thanks for watching.

Beautiful video, and in brilliant weather! Fantastic.
Thankyou so much.
Are these all before you came to golf......
Golf and narrowboat's go hand in hand in my world. Hitting balls and hitting walls. Ha

i love newark but some say its risky mooring there
It can be in any city but not for me. If course the usual beer zombies. Cheers

Yeah I spotted it when I was editing but I just couldn't find it at the time. Ha blind..
