- We continue our narrowboat journey on the River Trent from Farndon to Newark, cruising past the magnificent Newark Castle to King's Marina, and take a walk around this lovely small town.
Hello! We're Caroline and Pete, and in 2021, after 10 years living in Texas, we sold up and moved back home to the UK to live full time aboard a 60ft narrowboat with our West Highland Terriers! Join us in our day to day life as we continuously cruise the canals and rivers of the UK. All of the ups, and the downs and everything in between!

Newark is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing it. I always think it must be so wonderful to live or work in a building which abuts the waterway. The boat looks so pretty, especially with the beautiful flowers... and, of course, great dogs. I don't know when you filmed this one, but I am watching it on Super Bowl Sunday. I'm one of those who likes to watch halftime and commercials. You can imagine it's nuts here in Texas, as apparently both quarterbacks are from Texas (the Eagles' from Channelview). Newark looks very beautiful, im guessing in winter time, not so nice looking.
It is a stunning little town, but as a lot of other places looks far more bleak in winter, when it’s raining and cold. But beautiful in the snow as that brings another level of magic to the canals and rivers!

Hi Both, Great views with music to match. Question: Noted your stern canvess is folded forward, How do you secure it to the roof to stop the wind blowing it about. People have advice me to get mine secured when cruising. Flowers love Brill, another job for me to do this summer. 💐Xx
Glad you enjoyed it Julie! We have some long straps that we wrap around the folded pram hood, which we loop through little brackets attached to the roof. You can see Pete doing it the next video actually! 😊
