"Have you ever looked at a guy with Lust???"
"I'm a lesbian"
GG WP
I'm a homoromantic asexual 🙋🏼♀️
I kinda would've loved it if he then tried to say "Well then you're going against God's commandment to be fruitful and multiply." 🤣 Though knowing dudes like him he'd probably just quote something in the Bible that seems to be against homosexuality. 🙄
That was awesome timing "I"m a lesbian". Nice comeback from her :)
"Mission failed, we'll get them next time."
🤔😛😅😂🤣...
Literally nobody ever claimed to have been there at the moment Jesus resurrected so "saw him rise from the dead" is problematic 😐
Yeah, it's amazing how many of the "eyewitnesses" witness things that they weren't there for.
Yeah, I noticed that phasing too. I noticed, too, how he kept using different parts of the narrative to bolster his assertion, when each part, read honestly, came nowhere near backing his position.
But he does have a pleasant speaking voice, if only the content wasn't so noisome.
A couple of good articles.

I feel for the guy basically attacked on the street. I wish Ray tod would talk to someone who regularly considers thier epistemology and counters apologetics, but that doesn't work for his narrative so it won't happen
I believe Matt Dillahunty has a conversation with him on youtube somewhere.
Guarantee he comes across people like that occasionally. It's not on brand for him to be completely refuted, so you'll never actually see one of those people unless someone else is filming.
Antanis - I feel for the guy basically attacked on the street.
We don't even know if this was any more than a performance between two Christians.
@@triksterx exactly what i going to say, love to get hold of his "outakes" bet some of them are gold.
@@Scanner9631 I suppose that is definitely possible. No good reason to consider it either way. Whether by intentionally picking people who can't counter his nonsense, or just scripting the entire thing with another Christian, he's misrepresenting atheism, and building up a spooky strawman.
I guess in this particular video, it's more of a false steel man of his own position, in that he claims to have significantly more evidence than he does.
Dont forget in the Pauline Creed Paul is one of the witnesses to the 'risen Jesus' and we know from Pauls own accounts that he didn't see a bodily Jesus nor did he know Jesus pre-death.
We have aerial surveys showing the remains of the fortifications Caesar built around the Gallic town of Alesia. The remains match the description made of them in the book on the Gallic wars. This is what is called independent corroboration. And it still does not imply anything about the veracity of the rest of the text but makes the it more probable that the Gallic wars took place, especially the section on Alesia.

Unleased? Ray comfort is for rent?

i used to to counter argue these types when they came to my door. it was a waste of everyone's time. now i just tell them "i'm not your target audience" they just leave.
Lol I work at a certain swedish furniture retailer and someone left that booklet in one of our room settings a few weeks ago. Been meaning to flip through it for a laugh.

I liked your comment on people not choosing their beliefs. God changes our hearts. That is how we believe.
If God wants me to believe, he knows where my heart is.
I'm curious, do you believe in free will, and/or hell?
@@shanewilson7994 I'm a Calvinist. Soooo, kind of on the freewill. Depends on your definition. Hell definitely. Sheol, Hades, and Gehenna.
@@PracticalBibleStudies Thank you for getting back to me on that. I definitely wanted to ensure I didn't misrepresent your views, which is why I asked about free will, and I'll do my best to not misrepresent you (but if I do, please do let me know because that's not my goal).
So when it comes to hell, since it requires god to change our hearts, do you accept that it is the god you believe in's decision to send people there and that we (non believers) have absolutely no fault on being sent there? (Assuming it is real for the sake of this discussion)
@@shanewilson7994 We all sin and fall short of His glory. So, we all technically deserve hell. God's grace is a miracle in that the son died so that the elect would be saved. Taking that punishment upon Himself.
When I was younger I had the idea that I would be ambushed by Christians at home, at school, or in the streets.... best I ever got was random people occasionally getting mad at me for not saying have a blessed day back to them
On seeing Jesus alive after crucifying I remember Josephus and his three friends and one survivor and think about people seeing him alive after they know he crucified. Touch my wounds and all. Stories like this could easily help explain those stories.
Oh no! It's that Wretched Guy!
Run away!!
I wonder what one of these evangelists would say if you replied, 'I believe that the universe was sneezed into existence and we are all awaiting the arrival of the Great Handkerchief!'
Or, 'Believe in God? I AM GOD!'
"What religion are you?"
"No, thanks,. I already ate."
It is worth point out that just after 3:20, Todd Friel says, "... blah blah safe harbor ... it's not rejecting God but it's not embracing God". Right there he has already assumed that there is one God. Cole didn't challenge him on this and I don't blame him -- Todd is practiced at smuggling in his presuppositions, scoring free points because Friel has a practiced patter and his victims need to think on their feet during a conversation they weren't expecting to have.
Bible says you will love your sin more, and He lets you go off and have it.
There is no claim that I must believe Caesar is actually God or I will burn in hell. To except that extraordinary claim, I would require extraordinary evidence.
Does Todd imagine he's come up with some novel form of apologetics unknown in all the centuries gone by? Wow!
My man! Love you Paul much respect for what you do. Don't always comment don't always give a thumbs-up... never a thumbs down, but I watch every video✊
Why do people try so hard to avoid offending these hustling Christians that they'll often hedge their real belief.
Because they know a lot of these will go into full sales/preach mode. I found that I don't wish to talk about it. They assume whatever I have something to hide. I cut them off. No. It means I am not going to talk to YOU about it. They don't know how to deal w/ that.
nodding your head and slowly getting the boy out makes them run
So, number 1 takeaway is to keep asking "Source please"
@James Henry Smith source please
I've always wondered if baldness is some kind of a hair style. Is it?
The chicken analogy was amazing. It's exactly like Christianity. Because I really wish I had an adorable purple chicken in my lap, but alas, I do not.
Reminds me of when i was a kid. This women came up to me and said " Jesus is alive, and loves you" and i responded with " well,..i am not gay!" She just moved on.
Did I misunderstand? I thought textual criticism saw how later versions of a work differ from the original. It has nothing to do with the veracity of the work, as it can be applied to fictional works, as it has been prolifically to Shakespeare.
0:46 Todd has a Johnny Bravo figurine. I guess that's on topic for lust.
0:00 Exepct now you want everyone to let you tell them gods fake if you were just in peace we would leave you alone
Wow, if the agnostic this guy is preaching to is out there, I hope he sees this video!
Stop, drop and roll away from them.
To be fair . . Cole may have answered in the same way You did Paul, but Todd would have edited that answer out... for Jesus.
Its always funny to me that christians think that if they can proove a god exists the person they talk to will automatically be a christian.
Like. I want someone to just go "Ah you are right, Allahu Akbar" and walk away lmao.
I strongly suspect that Todd's "victim" is a shill. He never ONCE challenges Todds assertions, intead, Todd tell "victim" whathis reply would be. Very fishy and not remotely a likely scenario.
Am I allowed to strike a theist with a rod no thicker than my thumb?
…and muhammad flew on a winged horse. Wonder if Todd believes that? Its written down, its in a book. Therefore ‘truthiness’.
Main takeaway: these attack interviewers are dishonest. They make claims they can't substantiate, hoping you won't know. There's a reason they pick on random guys on the street instead of, say, debate Bart Ehrmann or Paulogia.
Just like back when the Jesus stories where orally shared then finally written down many years later, Todd is relaying incorrect data, things we could now check that are not supported by the bible. Unless he's intentionally lying, he believes them to be true. Did the original authors receive similar mistaken information of the events? Or were they stories of stories of what people may have believed? If the agnostic wrote down what he just heard from Todd, how accurate would this manuscript be?
Excellent use of the "Hinterland who's who" theme there, Paul! 🦝

Sure but the religious think "unfalsifiable" means it can never be proven wrong and is therefore 100% true. These types think "priceless" means the object isn't worth anything.
Not long ago I had exactly this fallacy brought up against my atheistic position: "If you cannot prove that god doesn't exist, then it is true"...
Not quite that it means it’s 100% true in my experience. More that there’s never going to be any way to convince them that their god doesn’t exist. “You can’t prove me wrong, so I’m gonna believe whatever I wanna believe” sorta thing. The unfalsifiability is less a bludgeon and more a shield
I’m guessing that 100% of these people will also make that dumb joke of “must be free then 😉” at the cashier when an item doesn’t scan or doesn’t have a price tag…

And when he had a long conversation with Genetically Modified Skeptic, McDowell seemed to gloss over good points and change the subject. His approach was slippery, like all the rest.
@@pechaa That could be more of a situation of them talking past each other. These seem like a mistake an honest person could make under pressure. I think we need to look further before calling McDowell dishonest yet.
I had a couple of these people approach me a few years ago. They asked if I wanted to be born again and I asked why and they said "so you can go to Heaven." I asked if, in the Christian religion, people see Heaven in life. They said no. I said that as a Buddhist I have touched Nirvana during meditation and that Heaven is a state of mind obtainable in this lifetime. So why should I leave a religion that shows me Heaven during my life for a religion that only promises it after I die? They said "we'll pray for you" and scurried away 🤣
I wonder if they're praying "for you" because you shook their own faith? Perhaps they're praying to reinforce their own beliefs?
@@terryjwood lol, yep
@@terryjwood "... praying to reinforce their own beliefs", yah, I've asked pointed questions regarding prayer (such as: god is all-knowing why do you need to pray for a person's recovery from illness, doesn't god already know the person is ill?), mostly they just shake their heads in disgust and walk away.
Just start with something like:"Oh, yes, ALL gods exist. There are books about them!" Now, how can he not call that 'stupid', without digging a hole?
i would love to pull King Arthur in those conversations, they would totally disregard the magical parts of the legend and say a guy name Arthur is just a mundane thing
He'd just say that they all exist, but they aren't gods, they're demons.
This is the best part of being a polytheist, I get to do that without being dishonest.
Joseph Campbell was once approached by a Moonie asking him if he believes in God. He replied "yes, I believe in many gods." The Moonie was surprised and said "no, I mean the God." And Campbell said "oh, you mean the one and true God of the Bible? I believe in him too" and walked away, leaving the Moonie confused

After about 65 years as an atheist and never much of a believer before that, my reaction to being asked what my religion was would be "Religion? Do I look like an idiot?"
You notice that none of these street evangelists pick on old people, could there be a reason for that I wonder.
@James Henry Smith .
Yeah right, silly us, of course your delusions are all true.
Is Todd ever NOT lying for Jesus? He does crap like this all the time. He states that certain things are categorically facts that aren't in evidence anywhere in his own holy book. He does it constantly. He is, in my opinion, the most dishonest apologist I have yet to see.
It makes him the most money, so no.

"Is Todd ever NOT lying for Jesus?"
Theistspeak is a language used by theists. It uses the exact same grammar, spelling, sentence structure, etc. as real languages do, but the meanings of words are inverted from common usage. For example: "God loves you unconditionally" translates in English as "God finds you contemptible and deserving of eternal torture unless you submit to a massive self-contradictory and impossible to follow list of conditions", the exact opposite of the words used. Todd *can't* stop lying for Jesus because to theists, lies *ARE* truth.
One argument I never seen brought up about the recanting is, we have had cults in modern times like Heavens Gate. These people believed they were leaving on the mother ship, Hale-Bopp Comet, they killed themself and each other willingly. Does that mean they were more right because they where and did die for their beliefs?
Learning about cults is one of the biggest reasons I doubt I could ever believe in any religion since they have very similar ideas and methods.
I've mentioned on a couple of videos how the 9/11 terrorists were religiously motivated, believing they'd go to heaven and have their choice of virgins to have sex with etc.
Doesn't mean they were right, but they died for those beliefs.
@@GameLeaderR Yah, the line between "Cult" and "Religion" is verrrry fine, IMHO.
Exactly! I thought about Islamic terrorists that blow themselves up just as Todd was saying that about the apostles, the fact that someone is willing to die for their beliefs doesn't make them true.
@@inyobill I have a very close view of that line in the way a relative of mine is. Out of respect for them, I won't go into any specifics but they were raised in a cult that believed in going out to the desert and hoping their deity would "beam them up" into the afterlife. That same relative is now a diehard Evangelical Christian who believes their cult past was Satan's attempt to keep them away from the "truth of Christianity".
Religions are just normalized cults with pedigree - they've got a brand name and following that's too big to ignore; they still use manipulation and threats (against current life and the afterlife) to incentivize obedience. Indeed, I would say the line between them is very thin.
2:17 "They aren't subconsciously admitting that vegetables are meat." 🤣That might be my favorite analogy of all time! Well done!
It is a perfect analogy
@James Henry Smith Oh? In what way?
@James Henry Smith No, they didn't, and they both couldn't be true anyway, because even though they both stem from Judaism, they are not the same religion. But hey if you keep repeating it over and over, maybe it'll help.
What kept me trapped for so long was my belief that the gospels were written by eye witnesses.
Once you realize that the bible is not written by eye witnesses and that it is not nearly a reliable historical document, the argument changes drastically away from the claims therein and instead to: What would motivate people to invent Christianity? Not only why but how did Christianity come to be?
There is much nuance to these exceedingly more interesting questions.
And the Bible was created by a committee that chose which gospels to include and which to leave out.
Good for you. A couple of good articles here.

Learning about the actual age of the bible, the existence of the apocrypha, and the various councils over the centuries that curated biblical canon sort of put the lie to the idea that it's the indisputable, inerrant word of God. Heck, even today you'll see that there are some denominations that still include some books in their canon that are considered apocryphal by other denominations.
@@wordforger There’s been a frustrating conspiracy from some TikTok apologists and evangelicals that “The Vatican” removed the apocrypha. Fourteen books I believe. They’re trying to push the narrative that Catholics and the Pope are akin to the Illuminati and NWO, but it makes no sense since the Catholic Bible actually includes half of those “missing” books and it was Protestants who decided to remove them from the KJV and the others.
Yea, im part asian, i kinda look like an indian/chinese, and i sport a mean goatee and scraggy sideburns, i was approached once by a slimy evangelist and tried to preach to me, i just replied aasalamalaykum, brother, allah be with you today, then hugged him... he just left me the fuck alone... i aint muslim... i aint christian... my mom's family are hardcore christians, borderline fanatic and all that... so i kinda have an idea how to deal with them... or at least how to make 'em leave me alone. Great comment. It’s always something that’s bothered me that Christian evangelists and apologists always seem to want to go after the atheists / nones. I have not come across many videos yet of them trying to convert peoples of other faith. You would have thought that would have been a more target rich audience, especially for the other Abrahamic religions (as the first step of trying to convince them of a god should be easier)
@@robertfreeman6082 apologetics is a retention tool not a conversion tool. That’s why apologists mostly address atheists/agnostics: to show their flock that these godless people have no good argument for their position therefore to be/remain Christian is the smart thing to do.

Earlier in regular intervals, Jehovas witnesses came by. It was always fun talking to them, but when I became aware how insane US Bible literalism is (I am german) and learned more about how to counterargue. I think it was once mormons and once Jehovas witnesses that came to me - and never again, since years.
For the Jehovas witnesses it was an older woman and a, say, late teenager (maybe mother and daughter) that tried to persuade me. But I think I was quite good at not letting them just drone on how great all is, but why I should believe all that.
And then I got lucky and could ask the girl "what is the best evidence for the truth of the Bible for YOU?" - "The hundreds of fulfilled prophecies." -
"Hmm, but don't you think that those who wrote the New Testament down were all good biblical scholars that KNEW all the prophecies that the messiah has to fulfill, and would tend to "tune" the story that happened decades to hundreds of years ago and thousands of kms away so that the main figure of their story they write down the first time fits all the criteria?"
In my memory, the girl just looked at me with wide eyes and didn't say a word, and the other one grabbed her and made a quick retreat. I had the impression I had hit a VERY soft spot and she realized that this could get even more dangerous.
Somehow sad I did meet any new more evangelizers in the last years - the toolset of Paulogia, Aron Ra, Viced Rhino, DarkMatter2525, AE etc. would make that real fun.

It is always the same, these cultists prey on people that are unprepared and bombard them with questions the people never thought about. Flat earth does exactly the same.
It is all debate tactics, about winning the argument, not about Truth.
The strategy of what I call broadly cult is always the same: Provide one slogan ("earth is flat", "God exists", "Trump is the best", "more guns make us more safe") and declare that as irrefutable Truth, so irrefutable that you do not have to think about it, that it needs no proof.
Bingo, in one moment you turned from a moron who does not know ANYthing into a genius who understands, who is RIGHT, and all these others that knew so much more are all WRONG; are deluded, indoctrinated fools.
The rest is learning by heart the prefabricated slogans that are fed into you, that you have to blurt out when you hear trigger words, and a set of questions that are equally declared as unanswerable.
With that your gut feeling is all you need, the gut feeling you are RIGHT no matter what, no need to know anything, to learn, to be curious, to think about WHAT you think and WHY you think it, who instilled that opinion into you.
Evangelism is always wrong, and you're just asserting that they were right, even tho Paul expressed why and how they were wrong. Be better, I know you can.
@James Henry Smith Tell us your best "right" of evangelis that YOU can think of.
And choose one that YOU are able to argue for, not one that someone else told you is the irrefutable truth. .
Thus is fun and all, but if you can't show what you know, you don't know that you don't know, and that's okay. But every evangelical argument stems from a holy book, being an atheist I don't care what your book says, so bring some evidence of your version of the diety or try another round of incredulous statements asseted without evidence and see how far that gets ya. Be better, I know you can.
@James Henry Smith I love it how you immediately start dancing around with word plays when YOU are challenged to become concrete.
right, correct, proof, reason - I do not care how you call it.
I asked for YOUR personal best argument for religion being right/correct, your proof, your reasons.
YOU pick whatever you want.
But all that weird cryptic stuff you are writing demonstrates that you have nothing concrete, that you just want to hear yourself talk, that you are merely trolling.
Come with something one can discuss about, and I respect you.
"What would it take to convince you that God is real?"
Hmmmm.... A significant blow to the head, maybe
@James Henry Smith Evidence it, then. All I've ever heard are claims.

Battlefields, mass Graves of both Romans and Gauls, Roman Gvmt writings about the supply's sent to the legions and the parade of Vercingetorix through Rome.... Commemorative etchings, Roman forts with graffiti from the soldiers, soldiers letters home during the war...

This was a tough watch for me. To see Todd lie so much, is unbelievable.
I also found it tough to watch. I needed to break it up with other activities. As you stated, unbelievable.
I have very close family who say the Bible is an eyewitness account as if to shame me into accepting their understanding of Scripture. It’s not an intentional lie, I don’t think. But it is very hard seeing what feels so manipulative from people who seem to view themselves as doing good.
@@singfree88 I myself was an Evangelical and believed all this stuff. It is definitely believable that it's 100% honesty from his perspective. That doesn't make him right, of course. But I don't think Todd is in any way being dishonest. He just has been believing the gospel story so long that he doesn't need the same evidence for it that he does for anything else in the natural world. The truth is that religion isn't the only cause of this. We're wired as humans to continue beleiving what we already believe, and our conscious mind works very hard to rationalize it for us. It's one of the reason why videos like this will not influence very many Christians. But I still find them entertaining to watch when I think about what my life used to be like and now I'm on the other side. I have a lot of respect for how Paul handles these reviews. I feel that he gives each situation a fair commentary, and thinks through his arguments very thoroughly and presents them so clearly.

I think expecting the "martyrs" to get away scold free from the threat of death if they just said "okay, okay! I no longer believe in Jesus" is a very childish speculation. If I were to get rid of a religion and I already made my mind about going as far as killing people, there's no way I'd spare them just for rejecting their religion in the moment.
It's a bit more complicated than that. This explanation now is also just a simplified version.
The Roman religion of the Imperial era was a state cult. There was no "seperation of state and church"... the state cult was an essential part of being a Roman citizen.
The Romans were in general quite tolerant in religious matters... as long as a religion wasn't considered immoral (and often not even then, if it could be kept private), you could believe in anything you wanted.
Provided you officially honored the state cult.
And that's the root of the conflict between the Roman Empire and the early Christians. Early Christianity wasn't a highly regarded religion to start with. "Eastern" cults were already a bit suspect, mystery/salvation cults as well, and Christianity was a faith for the lower classes.
And then the Christians, in their zealous weird monotheism, rejected the state cult. Which, as far as the authorities were concerned, threatened the well-being of the state.
But the Roman approach to religion was also a rather, hm, "worldly" one. They didn't hold much on "faith", but preferred a direct, public, even "transactional" approach to their deities. You worshipped them, they supported you. You denied or insulted them, they got angry. You appeased them, and things were reconciled.
So, to get back to your initial statement (sorry for lecturing): A prospective martyr didn't have to revoke his faith in Jesus at all... they would just have to participate perfunctorily in the state cult's rituals... and, yes, they would have "gotten away scold free".
You could compare it with Kent Hovind and taxes. The state wouldn't have given a damn about Hovind's craziness in religious questions, if he had just followed the rules for being a secular citizen of the United States. They didn't care that he didn't pay his taxes "for religious reasons"... they just cared that he didn't pay his taxes, period.
Had he done so, he could have lived happily ever after with his dinosaur park.
@@Groffili Thank you for the detailed explanation. I must admit my initial comment was more based in intuition than any historical context

Funny thing is nowhere in the bible does it say god and Jesus are the same being. They are actually referred to as separate beings; one the father and one the son. The idea that they are different aspects of the same being came way later from the church.
In the gospel of John, Jesus says, “I and the father are one.” Although there are multiple interpretations, most Christians take this to mean he’s saying they are the same person.
@@autonomouscollective2599 Meaning they are of the same mind, not the same person. To illustrate this, how many times does Jesus talk to his father? How many times does he refer to god as a separate being? You don't refer to yourself as another being/your father.
It's something you're told/taught without ever thinking about it. And questioning religion is frowned upon in religion.
It does not specifically exist in the bible, it was something specifically agreed upon by the church many, many years later. Which is why it's agreed on by most of the faithful.
@@smokert5555
Yes. Both you and I are in agreement. Despite many Christians saying you have to look deeply into the Bible to grasp its meaning, most of them are really pretty shallow readers.
@@autonomouscollective2599 And then they try to tell us what it says, which is usually a wild interpretation of the passage rather than a straight up read. The writers of the bible are just not that nuanced.
I think Todd tries to bypass the telephone game by claiming the gospels are literally eyewitness accounts.
That's one of many reasons I would be very cautious in accepting any of his claims. And I would certainly not accept him as a trustworthy authority on the bible.
I'm pretty unlikely to be very convinced by any street pastor, but if I was, I hope that pastor would have a better grasp of theology and history than Todd does.

Christians have no ethics and their morals are disregarded at their convenience.
When I claimed to be an agnostic (and the military at that time refused to let me claim being an agnostic at the time) it was because I thought being an atheist was too strong a claim. I am now more educated on the subject. I can now claim to be an agnostic atheist, meaning I don't believe in any god claim, but I don't claim none exist. "I don't adhere to any religion" is a good claim.
I was an agnostic Christian for a while, since I lacked the sort of magical thinking that is required to believe in the so-called miracles other people claimed as proof for their faith. Then I slowly slid into agnostic atheism the more and more I studied the history of our world and the bible. It just seemed unlikely that there would be nearly so much evidence that refutes claims made in the bible if the bible were truly the inerrant word of God. And there was no evidence for any other gods or magic out there either.
@James Henry Smith About what?

Isn't that interesting how Ray is embellishing on what even the Bible strictly says...(Ex: that executed followers refused to recant) Ray's own embellishing behavior illustrates the unreliability of oral testimony... which is, of course, the source of the Gospels...
oddly enoug, Ray's and Todd's approach has the quirky side effect of advancing the development of biblical legend.
Omg, at 7:19. God came down and revealed himself?? As I asked someone who posed that exact same thing to me, “so a man floated down from the sky and landed before me?” No no no, god just appeared before you. “So a man suddenly appeared in front of me? How then do I know he is god?” The question itself is so full of assumptions that the Christian never ever thought about.
To paraphrase, "Faith is the assumption of things hoped for. The conviction of things not real."

I am certain that if Cole had at any point asked "which eye witness testimonies are you talking about?" Or "I thought the gospels weren't written by eyewitnesses?", Todd would have noped right out, and would have never uploaded the conversation. It's pretty clear this line of reason only really works if your opponent is not able to contradict any of your lies.
This is one of the things that makes me the most angry about Christianity. Every single apologist is so eager and willing to lie to the faces of people who they they know wouldn’t know enough to call them on their lies. I have long since stopped giving the benefit of the doubt to any Christian. You have a responsibility to fact check the claims you perpetuate so I don’t care if you sincerely believe your own lies or not. Every Christian is a liar.
Especially the way they attempt to debunk evolution. I have yet to hear a Creationist argument that isn't full of Strawmen, mined quotations and flat out misinformatiom.
whenever someone says they are christian, i just assume they lie
@@vassternich1 So would many other Christians from other denominations.
@@vassternich1 whenever someone tells me they are a Christian, I don't know anything new about them other than that they have at least a passing interest and alignment with the contents of one of the many versions of the Bible. Saying you are Christian is like saying you are black. Your ancestors came from some vague area of land, and your skin has enough pigmentation to not be "white", but I don't know where your ancestors came from specifically, and I don't know how much pigmentation your skin has. It is an uninformative statement when it comes to identifying specific characteristics. It is a wide umbrella term.
I would be a little more generous and say Christians are trapped in the psychological disposition of cognitive dissonance. As a result, they do these little rhetorical shortcuts, not to effectively convince you, but to prop up their crumbling theology. Some people are convinced by these half-answers, and the Christian (assisted by confirmation bias) takes this as evidence of their belief's soundness. They then teach these tricks to other Christians, thinking it is an effective means of communicating truth, but is really just an effective means of deflecting quality criticisms.
Tl;dr I don't think this counts as dishonesty. It's just another unfortunate soul (for lack of a better term).

My most guilty pleasure of a dream is to be evangelised to by a Todd Friel or a Ray Comfort. But I know that'd just not end up on the footage they keep, because they go out and talk to 20-odd people to get someone credulous they can bamboozle. And sometimes it isn't even about being credulous, it's about that person assuming Todd isn't lying or distorting the truth directly to their faces, so they don't want to be more confrontational.
"Oh do you mind if I get a video of this as well?" And always travel with a mini tripod for your phone.
I wonder how they respond in that case. I mean obviously they know how dishonest editing works, so they probably wouldn't want to consent, but they can hardly just come right out and say that. What would be the pretext for saying that no, they'd rather only their cameraman record it?
