At least one thing is positive: the T800 is actually trying to kill Kyle Resse instead of just throwing him around. He is constantly trying to kill him with punches or stabs

The T-1000's death was done so incredibly well. From the CGI acid corrosion, to the way the actor flopped and flailed about like a soulless marionette. Just wow. That's a helluva way to send off a Terminator.
I might go one further and say Genisys may very well be the greatest Terminator movie of them all.
But for some reason the T-1000 prefeers to enjoy the walk instead of running to avoid damage

They really managed to make the T-800 scary in this scene. The force of the machines is very well executed in this movie.
The scene in which it emerges from the flames while creepy music is playing in the background always sends chills up to my spine.😁

The idea that a robot can punch through a concrete wall is silly. Nothing the size of a human arm can produce that much force that quickly. The only way a human size arm could punch through a concrete wall is hydraulics, and it would need like a minute or 2 and it would also need to brace itself against something equally strong.

For all this movie's flaws, I like rewatching this scene because it's one of the few times we see a full T-800 model being smart and not just stomping towards its target. It punched the doors to throw Kyle down, it made sure to target the gun to stop him from getting it. And it was throwing punches and such to get him.
Edit: For those who keep bringing up "Why didn't it go for the gun instead?" Simple, it was faster to try to impale Kyle rather than use a long range weapon in a small, confined space.
For some reason T-800's are Always better without skin, it could be that their skin limits their movement maybe? Like if they go Hard asf with skin it would Just rip because of the strenght, or maybe the terminator metal gets too hot with friction and that's why it can only be slow with skin coating

Y'all remember how logic still applies and people who plan ahead don't need to struggle for days fighting a terminator?
Even the first movie has a stupid moment where Sarah calls her mother for the plot to run forward so she puts herself in danger again so the movie can have a big fight at the end. This is what planning ahead instead of running looks like. Batman can do this in absurd ways and everyone claps, someone uses their brain to fight a terminator for once and people hang on to character stupidity from past movies.
The only reason it did was because of their limited weapons. It got destroyed by a pipe bomb.

It was so satisfying to see a T-1000 finally destroyed in a movie with acid. In the lore for years I've always known that they can be destroyed with acid as well and it was just so good to see it on the film finally.
It was inventive. I was thinking "Where are they gonna find a steel mill this time of night, and they had all that set up in advance. But if you notices she fired only about 30-40 rounds and 200 holes opened up in all those acid barrels, with none splashing on her.
Did she find out which Kyle is real because human Kyle said “shoot it” while robot Kyle said “shoot him”?

Military style
They really nailed these terminator fights in the beginning of the movie. The T-800 and T-1000 are so intimidating and actually work intelligently to try to kill their target (making a spear from itself, preventing use of sniper, etc) and both needed crazy circumstances to be defeated. Plus it was cool to see a T-800 and T-1000 working together
I mean they are machines from the future made out of super alloys that don't even exist yet, designed to basically be impervious to all weapons fire. Even 50 cal was the starting point to be able to take down a terminator, and even then it had to be a well placed shot to the chest or head. But the whole T1000 stopping every time it gets shot a bit has always been silly, including bullets being able to knock it back.

The original film Kyle actually made the T800 head move with his hits & K.Oed a cop with ease. This Kyle fires without recoil and breaks rebar. Reece is a tough s.o.b.

It's a tradition that the bad Terminators always loose their human disguise for the final battle (T800's skin burnt off in the first movie, T1000 was glitching and revealing his chrome Form in the second movie, T-X lost its outer shell in the third movie). So it fits here very well.

The T-800 in the original film struggled to smash through a factory fire door and was temporarily floored by a shotgun, now the "same" machine can apparently walk through a walls and shrug off explosive shells.
To be fair the first one was really damaged at that point when it was just endoskeleton left.

you could tell which one was the real Kyle Reese all by how they responded to the gun being aimed at them. The real Kyle held his arms up knowing he would die if he got shot, while the T-1000 just stood there with his arms down not responding to the gun whatsoever, because they cant feel fear thus dont have the response to the gun pointing at them.
Or, you know, he could have just taken off his coat, which wouldn't revert back to liquid metal.
" because they cant feel fear" - The T1000 could not only emulate, but actually feel emotions. Unlike the T800, which had an inhibitor for "learning too much", the T1000 kept learning. Thats also the reason in the lore, why Skynet doesnt mass produce them, because it feared they would rebel against their creator. (which happened in the SCC).
Which makes you wonder why this scene existed. He could have just ran and attacked her. Such bad writing compared to T1 and T2.
If you notice, He calls the T1000 an it and not a him, which is a give-away.

Even Salvation did a better job on the T-800 prototype CGI. I just barely noticed during this video clip also they used the new design on the 84 T-800 model. Still don't understand why they changed the design, on the chest area especially.

I think that scene is one of the better ones in the entire movie, as it captures the essence of the terminator. Every move is with intent to kill, rather than throwing the target across the room. The CGI is fantastic and it's very convincing in my opinion.

not a gun expert, but it's just two clicks and I'm pretty sure it's a bolt action rifle. It could easily be the sound of the bolt being cycled.

With a bolt action, its actually four complete movements to load the next round unless it's a straight pull which still sounds nothing like what I heard in this scene

That would have been even more amazing than the fight we got.

Kyle can relatively easily dispatch a T-800 now he has proper equipment, Pops can take down the T-1000 due to it having highly specific weaknesses. I guess Sarah can use a big magnet to incapacitate the T-X, but the only ways to properly damage a T-X shown in T3 is to use a (small) nuclear bomb!

It's not really clear what the T-5000's abilities and skills are, however it infiltrated Tech-Com without being detected by dogs. Was tactical enough to understand John's significance, can time travel. And had some form of weapon aptitude. Was able to impersonate a Tech-Com soldier without being suspicious. It was also able to infect subjects with programmable machine-phase and turn them into T-3000s. And lastly, the T-5000 had hyper-advanced programming. Likely due to it being the physical avatar of the Skynet from an alternate timeline.
Pops would need a strong backup support, such as going back in time to recruit the T-850, Uncle Bob and perhaps, Dani, Grace or Carl. since The T-5000 easily massacred John's whole Tech-Com unit, whilst being likely shot at with plasma rifles, and it got off scot-free. Without injuries. It literally massacred thirty people without suffering a stratch.

Uncle Bob
A massive environment full of weapons
Kyle
Sarah
A reprogrammed Rev-9
Carl
Some Rev-7 models
Cameron (the Sarah Connor Chronicles)

I was thinking about this a lot...
This one actually makes sense. As much as this movie stumbles at the writing department, it can easily be explained by the units exchanging information and communicating. Sarah is the higher priority target, so the more powerful and capable unit takes that task while the damaged 800 unit takes the secondary priority mission.
God damn it, I really wanted this movie to be good and kickstart a great trilogy of Terminator movies. All of the artistry and work done by the technical staff only to be let down by the staff in the writing room. It's a norm nowadays.
you have a point, however this could be explained: When the T1000 put that liquid metal droplet into that none functional t800 the droplet problably instructed the t800 to take the secondary target while the more advanced t1000 goes for the primary target to increase probability for succes. (ps. In hindsight it probably would have been better to let the T800 go for Sarah since it wouldn't have been melted away by the hydrochloric acid, then later after killing Kyle the T1000 could have joined in with the t800 going after sarah together.)

Tinnitus only sets in when an explosion goes off knocking the hero off his feet according to movie logic. The pressure wave that knocks them out of their feat will kill anyone.
At the very least, the t800 hundred had visible damage to one of its left shoulder servos which was torn, and you can actually see it after he pulls the electric cord out of his chest, which was why he was mostly using his right arm

I feel bad for a friend who went with me to see this movie without haven't seen the first two good old terminator movies, this is her first impression of the franchise
Do not fall in despair - these woonds can be healed. I'm telling this from experience - my first impression on Alien and Predator franchise was AvP Requiem, and yet here I am respecting original 2 Alien and Predator movies and hating that pile of garbage from 2007.

To these days, I highly respect T1-T2 as the true masterpieces, but I still like T3.
T1000 is so cool and badass in this movie, underrated.
The Javelin and reviving the T-800 was awesome. Only part I didn't like was him walking slowly towards Sarah after he realizes he's in a trap....like, if he just ran he would have barely been damaged.
They made both the t800 and t1000 weak in this film just takes away the intimidation factor

Nicholas Chen well I don’t know if if you watched the video but they both are incredibly slow and stupid for some reason continually walking to their target slowly when their cornered and in an earlier scene the t1000 keeps going down cuz he gets shot in the head 🤨. Not to mention they both die incredibly easily when compared to how hard it was to kill them in t1 and t2. I don’t know how you can say the t1000 is badass when he keeps getting mugged off constantly.
@@henry3153 Yes mate I've watched the movie and this scene. But then in T1 T800 was taken down by Kyle's rifle in Tech Noir. In T2 T1000 was shot multiple times and dropped on the floor, and also walked slowly to the Connors in the final battle. ;)

I really love the shot at 1:01. Makes me think of T1. When the Terminator emerges from the flames after the explosion.
The ONLY thing I like about this is the T-800’s reveal as he comes out of the fire and walks towards Kyle with the red eyes and fire in the background. Along with the music. Also, the sounds each step it makes sounds heavy and awesome.

I think the problem with the Terminator franchise is, is that the T-1000 from T2 was already so advanced that it's difficult to come up with something original to top it; the TX was too similar to the T-1000 and the T-3000 was way over the top to be a genuine antagonist.

How is it that the T-800 with skin intact makes no mechanical noise, but when he’s hit with the launcher and the metal endoskeleton is revealed suddenly you can hear all the mechanical movement really loudly. Surely the skin doesn’t insulate those sounds completely.

You can tell how lazy they were... In terminator 1 the skin slowly burns away, not to mention it was the explosion of a whole tanker truck. Also the T 800 was temporarily knocked out from the explosion, it basically had to restart itself every time it got severely damaged.
In here, a single incendiary grenade burns away the whole skin even from the back which makes no sense.
In T1, he ran through the explosion of a car and only lost its eyebrows, true it should've lost the hair too but no one wants to see a bald Arnold.
Eitherway, it took a car explosion, a car crash, and being run over by a truck to lose some of the skin. Then it needed a tanker explosion to remove it entirely, the whole body was engulfed in flames, not just the front like in this movie.
The skin removal on this movie was inmediate, there was no burnt tissue left, just ashes... Like... what kind of nuclear explosive did Kyle use? And even before that, the old T800 managed to peel off part of its face with just a few hits from a parking machine?

And my god, CGI fire is the worst.... Could've just made a chromed puppet and cover it with kerosene to ignite it and the resulting effect would've been way better.

I'm sorry maybe it's my age but I remember going to the cinema to see the original terminator 1989, no matter what anyone says you just can't beat it.
Back then it was so disturbing and frightening as this was the first time we had ever seen anything like this. These days they are more like a comic hero kinda film you can never beat the first time around 😉
