Episode 69: Weller Full Proof (Is It Really That Good?)

- Today we tried Weller Full Proof. This Bourbon comes from the esteemed Buffalo Trace William La Rue Weller line. It's a Wheated Bourbon coming in at 114 proof and has no age statement. The MSRP on this Bourbon is $50, however its extremely hard to find and highly allocated. The Weller product line consists of Weller Special Reserve (Green label), Weller 107/Anitque Red label), Weller CYPB (White label), Weller 12, Weller Full Proof (Blue label), Weller Single Barrel (Orange label) and finally the King of The Hill - William La Rue Weller (Antique Collection).
With that, I hope you enjoy today’s review and more important, if you get your hands on this Bourbon - I hope you enjoy it Cheers!!

Recently found your channel and love your content. Thanks for putting out these videos. Cheers! 🥃
Thanks Nicholas for watching and subscribing. Cheers sir!
Great review again and thank you for keeping it real on the value on this bottle. You go into just the right amount of depth in your review to let me know how good the juice is in that bottle. I appreciate you showing the value of building relationships with vendors over time, spending money on everyday items - not just the allocated, and being thankful when given the opportunity to purchase the good stuff at a reasonable price. The world needs more people like you and less of the ones that want to burn the store down.
Thanks Mike. Appreciate the kind words sir. You definitely have to support your local shops with everyday juice. Small batch this and that and wine and such for my wife. Still cant convert her to bourbon (im trying though). For the knucklehead who wanted to burn down the building.. geesh . Definitely some crazy people out there. Cheers my friend!
Totally agree with your judgment. it's good but not worth paying high mark up or secondary prices.
Glad you managed to get a bottle at a reasonable price .
Thanks Greg... the funny part is seeing it in the store, I had the “holy s%}t” moment. Like, it actually exists lol.
Got it for $80 the other day. I'm proud.
That’s awesome Bill. Nice find!
Great review! Hope to get one of these by years end. Cheers!
Appreciate it BTHunter... good luck on the hunt..
Great review, Bourbon Judge. Full Proof is definitely on the list, but has eluded thus far.... Cheers, Your Honour!
Hey Kerino. Good luck on the hunt my friend. Sending some good vibes your way. Cheers
Another great review of one I need to add to the collection. Definitely appreciate your evaluation of how much it’s actually worth. This stuff STARTS around $400 around DC! 🥱
IV my man. $400 goodness gracious save your $$ for sure. It truly infuriates me that stores mark it up so much. DC, come on ....normal prices.
Great review bourbon judge....... I've been trying to find that one
Hey Andre.. hope you find it my friend.
Great review! I have a store pick too and really curious if the not store picks smooth over those gaps you talked about.
Hey Andrew... great question... I’ll have to check it out one day from a friend who has the standard WFP. Thanks for the idea.
I finally scored a single barrel pick of Weller Full Proof a couple weeks ago, and am pretty stoked. Gotta decide when the right time to pop the cork will be!
Halden.. I would say go for it now. However hell, save it for a great occasion. When you do decide to pop it open, virtual cheers from the bourbon judge my friend. Salute...
Out of all the bourbons out there, the Weller line has been near unobtainable for me here in Southern California. Just too much competition for it. Glad you were able to stock up!
Hey Carson.. The competition aspect does stink. I wish it was easier to find across the board for sure. Well hey, fingers crossed bro, maybe one day soon luck will hit you and you find a bottle in the wild.
Total wine gets them from time to time here in SoCal
Bourbon Judge I am so jealous. You scored 4 bottles of Full Proof and I can’t find 1. I take that back. I did find 2 bottles a while back at a hole in the wall liquor store and they wanted $299 each. Sorry but not paying more than $100. Too many great bourbons out there for a lot less. Anyway I will keep looking and thanks for another great review!
Hollis my man. Little bit of luck helped with this one. I heard they might get the barrel in but it wasnt looking good for a while. Yeah $100-$125 max. I totally agree, there are a ton of other delicious options out in the market and that are readily available. Cheers!!!
These are really good. I think I’m partial to OWA picks, but love me some FP action. Also, coming up on 1,000 subscribers, need to do something special. Something to think about. Cheers my friend!
Thanks KB.. I know, getting close to the 1K mark. Gotta few ideas but haven’t landed on anything. Any suggestions?
Bourbon Judge hard to say! Maybe you could get a set of glen carin glasses to your 1000th subscriber. Or...when you reach 1000 subs, you can do a trivia type contest for the glasses. Either way, you should look into making your own glen carin glasses with the Bourbon Judge logo. I’d be good for a couple!
K Banks .. I like the Glen Carin glass idea. Keep you posted on that for sure. Thanks sir
Great review, I just can't see myself paying more than $80 for a bottle. when you can buy stagg jr for $60-$120.
Thanks Czr. Im with you my friend. Stagg Jr is such a great quality pour at its price point.
Gave 80.00 for mine. I was happy.
Nothing wrong with that.... cheers
Just scored a barrel select full proof for $59 at total wine in San Diego.
Congrats
Man I am so excited to get my Weller Full Proof from my friend that found one for me for $50. I am excited to compare it with Stagg JR batch 12 and 13. Stagg JR batch 14 has already started to show up in store but unfortunately not in my area yet. which bourbon would you rather have, Stagg JR batch 12 or Weller Full Proof?
Paul. $50 not bad..and congrats! I too have been looking for batch 14. Haven’t seen it yet but as soon as I do, it will be added to the collection. Hands down stagg jr batch 12 is better than Weller FP! Both are good but 12 is just .... cheers buddy!
@@BourbonJudge glad to hear your opinion because I have 3 full bottles of Stagg JR batch 12. Hopefully you will do a review quickly after you find batch 14. It has to be really good to follow batch 12 and 13.
Paul Munoz .. will do for sure.
Been hunting this one for a while. My local store just got some in Friday the owner sat aside 2 bottles for me. I walked in, he pulled em out, and I literally almost pooped. Lol… 2 bottles $150 for both. Not too shabby
Damnnn go Jake dude that’s awesome 👏🏿! Congrats
@@BourbonJudge appreciate that judge. Thank ya sir! Keep making those awesome videos. Love watching you and I value your opinions… good man!
So I have a guy who wants to trade a Weller Full proof store pick for a bottle of blue run 14yr summer. Ive been killing myself looking for the Full proof. There like $500 in nyc. Should I make the trade for the blue run 14yr summer???
I would pull the trigger if you’ve never had the WFP and a store pick should be worth it.
Found a bottle for 150... what do you think?
Wow congrats
Can you, or anyone else, recommend something similar and reasonably priced?
Great question. Not the exact same profile but have you tried 1792 Full? Fantastic bourbon, affordable and easy to find.
Agree. I got a store pick for about $70. It is excellent, bordering on fantastic, but if you pay $400-$500, you may have brain damage. Either that or you care way too much about impressing other people and are probably a fan of KUWTK.
Lmao!!!!!!!
