I was going to see if I could find this on a pirate site, but then I reconsidered...Charles Bronson's ghost might burst through the door and say "I'm here to punch your ticket" and blow my brains out.

That shootout at the end of Death Wish 3 alone deserves its own episode because it might be one of the best/craziest things ever.

Nobody You Know I always wished Martin Balsam burst out of the hospital room with the chain gun.
If Bronson and Balsam had tag-teamed in that street battle it would’ve been the greatest moment in cinema history haha

I would have loved for them to release cross over film that features Charles Bronson in San Francisco & crosses paths with Detective Harry Callahan from Dirty Harry. A Dirty Harry / Death Wish crossover would have been awesome.

It would be like a superhero team-up-- At first they fight, as Clint tracks Bronson for being a criminal vigilante killer, until they team up to take on the _true_ villain of the film!

Death Wish's Finnish title is "The enemy of violence" (Väkivallan vihollinen.) For the first movie it kinda makes sense, but in the sequels it's just utterly ridiculous. I guess they couldn't just change it mid-series.

  • @gantzisballs
    @gantzisballs 8 років тому +41

Too bad Brad doesn't review old exploitation anime. The Violence Jack movies go along very nice with the Death Wish sequels. A crazed vigilante fails miserably to prevent rapists and muggers from committing crimes, but god DAMN does he get revenge once the crimes have all been committed!

I realize now that I like Brad's Snob videos for much the same reason I like Bennett the Sage's videos. Both of them have a razor-sharp command of sarcasm and a genuine comprehension of what's going on in the depths of a movie. That and their ability to put their subjects in a fair semblance of context makes the both of them fantasically entertaining to watch.
No one reply to this, I just felt like ranting.

8:40 Cinemablob, 'inner conflict' over killing? In the first movie Paul Kersey was killing random criminals for in that film's story he had no idea whom the original perps were. In the sequel's storyline he saw the faces of the culprits.

For some intricate reason "Death Wish" (by the way, one of my 25 favorite movies) and "Death Wish III" are cult favorites... But sequel is nearly universally met with "meh". Also, I've just understood that good videos, like Brad's ones bring good AD's to them, because mine was a guitar rendition of "Gymnopedie No. 1", one of my favorite classical tracks I seem to be stumbling every March for some reason.

All right! The Cinema Snob has finally reviewed a Charles Bronson movie! Kinda surprised it didn't happen sooner...
Charles Bronson is my favorite action star. I love him and there hasn't been a movie of his that I didn't love or enjoy, so far. But I'll admit, a lot of his movies, particularly from the 1980s, could get really silly and exploitive. Making them perfect material for the Cinema Snob...
I love Death Wish II. It doesn't handle its storyline as seriously as the first film, the muggers are even more over the top, and the romantic subplot wasn't really that interesting... But who cares. We got gruesome violence, well done fight scenes, and Charles Bronson killing bad guys who totally deserve the brutal deaths they got...
Awesome review Brad! I was wondering if you'd ever tackle Bronson. And if I may make a few possible recommendations for the future...
    Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects (1989)
The Evil That Men Do (1984)
    10 to Midnight (1983)
They would definitely fit the format of the Cinema Snob...
Not much else to say other than that I had a great time. Until next week...
