Pretty sure that's an affectation, because it slips a lot when he forgets. And it isn't a natural accent to the South, pretty cartoony actually, probably insults a lot of folks, actually. It's a style choice.

Add a tbs of corn starch to water and make a slurry when you add the spinach, it will thicken the cream up, also it's great to add some bacon bits to flavor at that time as well. We make this, the copycat Pasta Figole soup often too.

Be sure to RINSE all contents after opening these packages:))) My mother always did this therefore I have too. But my homemaking teacher obviously didn’t follow this practice and didn’t teach us her students either. Several years ago I happened to notice a black hair thru the cellophane wrap in the meat case so I took it up to the meat counter suggesting they may want to rewrap. The employee seemed offended so I told her I thought it might be better that I bring it to them instead of the manager and she softened her tone. Good grief.

First I would have washed the chicken and removed the tendons. Second I would have baked them and then chopped them into small cubes. I also would have sautéed the onions in olive oil and added some flour when done and stirred the flour to smooth it out and then add that to the crock pot with the rest of the ingredients and let that cook awhile. It needs that thickening of the flour and I think more flavor baking the chicken. Also real garlic
Instead of broth I always use Chicken Knorr bouillon cubes . A lot more flavor.
But the soup looks like a good start just needs a little tweaking. But who am I. I am not a Chef. I am 65 and have cooked a lot of meals. A lot of meals!

This is the lazy, I’m not that great at cooking version. The legit copy cat recipe calls for you to brown your chicken. Then using the good brown bits and oil left behind sweat your onions, carrots and celery in a skillet then add flour for the thickener prior to adding stock and half n half. It also takes about an hour and a half to do on the stove top rather than 5-6 hrs in a crock pot.

Google, do you wash chicken before cooking. I’ve seen multiple times on cooking channels that say don’t wash your chicken because you are going to cook it done. The other reason is that washing your chicken just spreads the juices around and makes cleanup harder. It’s the germs you can’t see that’s bad for you.

My favorite, so I’ve eaten Chicken Gnocchi soup at O.G. since it was released over 10 years ago (probably 50-60 times). I also found a knock-off recipe online about 7-8 years ago, tweaked it after making it a couple times and have made it now over a dozen times for family. Ours is nearly indiscernible between what you get at the restaurant and I’ll just say, this crock pot recipe isn’t creamy enough / thick enough and we roast the chicken, like O.G.. The soup has never been this thin at the restaurant for us. JS
FYI, a quick Google search provided over 50 “knock-off” recipes. Good luck and happy cooking!
