Years ago my brother-in-law caught a 26lb White Sea Bass inside the breakwater at Long Beach using a small spoon with 10lb line with a fresh water pole. We were fishing for Sand Bass when he got hit. He was wore out from the fight. I used a gaff to get it into my boat. Lot of blood on the carpet, but it was worth it. Guys fishing on the breakwater gave my brother-in-law a big cheer.

What a BEAST of a Jack! That thing looked like Jaws when he first took your spoon. I would have had to change my drawers after an epic battle like that. Love it. Thanks again for sharing Tyler.

MONSTER JACK!! Dude… those things have so much power it’s not even sane. I remember the video when you first published it and my heart was still racing listening to the ball bearings in that reel literally burn out while you were fighting the fish! CRAZY STUFF MAN!! That’s insane!😅

I have occasionally caught Jack Crevalle off Baja & the mainland of Mexico where they call them "Toro" meaning Bull. They fight like a fish 3 times their size. I never caught one close to this size and can only imagine that the fight must have been like pulling in an angry bull. Thanks for the video Tyler !

one of my favorite spinning reels that I've owned is the shimano stratic but the old ones from the 90's back when they had reel wood handles. they also had felt washers stacked between stainless washers for the drag. it made the drags super smooth. I think they use carbon fiber washers now. the down side was, i had a massive jack like this that went for a smoking long run that made the washers so hot it melted the grease in the felt so that the washers kept getting thinner and thinner so I had to keep cranking more drag to keep pressure.

Ya wonder when you're going to run out of line. I do remember this and it was an amazing fish. Sometimes it is the adrenaline that keeps in the fight. Got an eight pound carp on 2# line this morning fishing for gills. It's amazing to watch 1/2 a spool of line disappear and wonder if it will stop.

    Best jack crevalle recipe:
    4-8 lbs jack crevalle
    1 onion
    1 bell pepper
    2 lemons
    1 celery
    1 fresh cow patty.
Wrap fish and veggies in foil and set on top of cow patty in bbq pit. Cook at 400 about 20 minutes. Throw the fish away and eat the cow patty if you’re still hungry. Those fish are terrible. But they fight like the dickens!
