The entire new section can be constructed and fitted out with all the necessary pipes, ducts, chutes, wiring connectors and systems to match up to their in situ counterparts, greatly reducing the time it would take if attempted differently! The sheer scale and complexity of it is utterly fascinating, and even if one is not usually interested in marine engineering, this video will still captivate the viewer. As someone quite interested in marine engineering, I loved it!
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I dont believe that
I didn't think I'd have the right to comment on until I'd been on it - I'm pleased to say it's an amazing ship and I was on it a week end march into April 2016! We went to Ireland. It performed well in bad seas even having to decrease speed and get to Belfast late. It seems to have been repainted since this video. OMG this ship was amazing and it's been through so much and it isn't even 30 yet!
Very cool. :) In case someone wonders: This is not the first (nor the largest) cruise ship to have been cut in half and lengthened. Just to mention a few others: RCCL's Song of Norway (in 1978) and Nordic Prince (in 1980), and Enchantment of the Seas (in 2005) were all lengthened by about 22 meters.
We saw this ship at the port in New York. We were right beside it on the Norwegian Dawn and my God the Crown was tiny, old, and ugly! I wouldn't go on it. I wonder how much bigger it is now in comparison to the newer ships in the Norwegian fleet.
It's a shame you can't see much about the most interesting part of this operation when they are actually cut the ship into two halves. What happens with the interior and I mean the machines, tubes, pipes, etc... that's probably the hardest bit to do. Otherwise brilliant time lapse video!
That was amazing! In a way (jokingly, of course), it's almost like a giant LEGO ship. Hahah. Engineering is awesome. Wasn't it for the amount of math involved, I'd study to be an engineer. XD Too bad I'm so bad at math. ^^;
That is why you study math. So you can get better. Never limit your self by looking at yourself today. Strive for the future and build yourself up. Anyone can become great all you have to do is work hard and never give up.
I had a tutor for Calc and Diff Eq but I made it . Find a teacher that teaches math the way you learn because many people do not learn math well by rote memorization. I'm a BSME, so you don't need to be a math whiz to be an engineer. I'm also a woman and I was told by a few profs that it was a man's field...................
+Jason De Pieri I suspect your answer may be somewhere in this article: www.twi-global.com/technical-knowledge/published-papers/corrosion-of-welded-components-in-marine-environments-april-2003/
Humans. Two things set us apart from other species. Our capacity to learn and our ability to work together and communicate effectively. We can do anything.
just imagine all the electrical work and wiring that goes into all this too. Just blown away by this all. wow!

They continue to add on a new section to the ship every year. The ship will be completed ones it spans the ocean, continent to continent, end to end.
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I dont believe that
A bridge from continent to continent ? Bridge because... you know....
Yup, I'm out.
that would look interesting since the ends would stick off the sides of the earth.
@@even___ mmmm i dont think it works like that
Just like the infinity hotel in the hitchhiker's guide series. Love it!
It was nice seeing the NCL Crown for the last time.
Now updating.....
Unpacking cruise ship.rar.....
Installing updates....
Finalizing..........
Update complete :)
Аааа
Oh! and a name change as well
That was absolutely MESMERIZING!@...well done! Kudos to the hard workers at the shipyard. Good work!
They're Germans tho, u sure?

+Wainwright Plays Fifa, Minecraft And More Yes it was a great little boat to be on at Easter ... Really enjoyed it.

That is incredible.
AWESOME!!!!!
Great video, thumbs up. Cheers from sunny Sint Maarten in the Caribbean.
Awnnnn My dream ia go to this island!!!!!! I love maho beach!!!! I love airplanes! The spotting paradise
Superb time lapse and great engineering technique!
The eSysman sent me.
Awesome time lapse. This ship was also the Crown Odyssey. This extension was 100 feet! then named Balmoral.
Beautiful ship now
Very cool, interesting that it's viable to extend that way. Hope you have good welders!
Great Video and awesome evidence of human skill
Wow! The painting crews on cherry pickers looked like paint pads lol
Thank you for your information knowing us wonderful cruise reconstruction!
Fascinating rebuild 👍🏼
That was fascinating! Loved it. Enjoyed the music as well.
perfect... great job...
eu vi esse video , animal..
this is why humanity is awesome
awesome performance !
That was beautifully shot. Great job!
Sehr beeindruckend! Ganz toll gemacht!
How is that possible ! Amazing
Very cool this video!
i never thought this would be possible, but it is
impressive...
I don't know what to say but wow!
I wonder how long that whole operation took?
The whole operation took only 2 months.
Max C. Moos Wow, that is impressive, considering the size of this operation.
That is amazing but does it not weaken the superstructure? Must do.
Fantastic!
I love it to work at Blohm & Voss :)
To show you the power of Flex Tape...
i SaWEd tHiS bOAt in HaLF
@Emil Johansson Yes.. Flex Tape.
Thanks for sharing!
Incrível. Simply Amazing.
great, but is it ever so strong in construction after the melting with the new piece ???? I wonder.....
Can you do this to my man parts?
perty sure theres a legit way to do that
Breded there is p
You'd need micro engineering for that task...
Amazing!
Doesn't the ship lose any rigidity by cutting it and then welding that extension in? I'm curious to this. Was it welded or what?
How about a Royal Caribbean timelapse vomiting video?
What are the freaking logistics of perfectly cutting a ship in half and gluing an extra hundred feet to it? That's friggin insane dude
yeah Hamburg rockt!! Blohm+Voss rockt!! =)
marvelous!
That was gr8! Thx.
Há áreas na engenharia que são simplesmente fantásticas!!
Great great job on maintaining smooth long shutter speeds. It's a very smooth feeling timelapse. Are you using ND filters for the daytime shots?
Good job!
uuuuaaauuuuuu....amazing!!!!!
Well Done!
amazing!
Fun fact: Blohm and voss also made one of the largest battleships(bismarck)
Impressive!
woooow... cool video ;)
Very clever stuff
Insane!
y lo increible es que se demoraron menos de 3 minutos ... los humanos son geniales !
Крутая работа!
Great tutorial, thanks.
They did the same with Balmoral's Fred Olsen sister-ship Braemar the following year.
I wonder if there's anything honouring/remembering August Landmesser somewhere at the Blohm and Voss yard.
thats intresting and cool :D
wow impressive
Has this video been edited, like the music in it?
it looks like it was built in sections most probably with this ability in mind and I was thinking to get access to engines etc as well
See description:
Music is: Exselsor -- Mechanical Butterfly

Sensacional!
Прикольно будет, если запустить видео в обратном режиме. Загнали лайнер, стырыли кусок и заварили.

Yeah, would have loved to see that. Was actually disappointed for a few moments, when the pulled apart pre-cut :(.

How they manage lights on the ship still working, while its cut in half ?
Sieht hammer aus .....
Holy crap i did not know they could split in half like that.
what have they done from 2:20 to 2:25? why have they retraced the weldments?
+Jason De Pieri I suspect your answer may be somewhere in this article: www.twi-global.com/technical-knowledge/published-papers/corrosion-of-welded-components-in-marine-environments-april-2003/
MK timelapse GmbH thanks a lot for your quick answer!
We do it everytime when we begin to paint ship. The paint which covered weld lines was the same later too.
...but we don't see the actual cutting and welding... :-(
increible, y un dia ese barco fue una patera...
Engineering at it's best.
This one is not easy!
How long of a time span was this?
Nice
Humans. Two things set us apart from other species. Our capacity to learn and our ability to work together and communicate effectively. We can do anything.
But not doing.
Goodbye Norwegian Crown 😢
just wow
How long this extension has taken?
Awesome video! :D
What's the name of the song? (:
soundcloud.com/exselsor/mechanic-butterfly-full
The time lapse makes the ships look smaller and lighter than they are... lol.
Вообще то это круто! Слов нет.
Comes free with oil change. Limited time only.
How did this get in my recommended?
I can imagine this splitting in half like the titanic after that
Muito fera esses cara!!
So would you travel with this ship, knowing that it's basically 3 parts jury-rigged together?
And the other ships are like one ingot...?
Every ship this big, is put together from pieces like the one you saw in the video. Also, welds can easily be stronger than the base material :)
Update : the extension made the ship to long to walk across so they just removed it and the ship is back to its original size
What was the total time on this job?
I wonder how they cut it, it doesn't appears on the video
Simple. They cut it with an enormous X-acto knife bought at the biggest hobby shop in the whole world.
What is the song you used in this? Great vid!
It sounds like Leave Out All the Rest by Linkin Park a bit but it only reminds me of that one. Some kind of remix of this song maybe.
Hi Guys, the audio clip is called Exselsor Megapolis, it´s a tune from audiojungle.
Thx!
Tim Wendel Yeah, inspiring music. Like.
MKtimelapse Is it on youtube ? I don't find it..
It's sad that we live in a world where we only get to see these colossal works when they're economically advantageous.
Imagine they could build Titanic 2 In this shipyard place cause I really love to see it so badly
