Thats it? there is no sense of finality, sense of accomplishment. I just finished the game and I literally just looked up for this video only because I thought “there’s no way this is just it” and apparently it was. Well. Pretty disappointing ending
The sad part about the bad ending is that Sigurd would rather live in a world that is fake, rather than the real world because it has caused him so much pain 😢
I resoect your opinion, but sometimes, a game only needs a finish that defines what the main character desires, peace and freedom from chains bonding the character to a role so overwhelming and taxing, causing inner suffering for each loss. Now, the Raven clan gets to feel that peace for once, not having to run from something, but getting to stay at peace and comfort for a time Edit:hope this helps, don't hand ME if this wasted your time, I'm sorry for that then

So I don't think it's beneath Ubisoft to try and figure out a way to revive/resurrect him in some form.
Yes correct Cory he tricked her so he can go into modern day considering he was stuck in the grey he made her press the sphere so he could go into modern day and her body pretty much is gone and he got the staff to resurrect himself
The game would have been 10/10 if it actually directed you in ways to complete the game to make sense. I ended up getting caught up in Sigurd’s story and kept doing them missions and didn’t know how pretty much all the other stories and even side missions link to the game. Played every Assassins Creed since the beginning and it was dying off until Origins. Nevertheless, I can see this franchise being rectified, I’ve give this a 8/10, needed better structure.
The Asgard ending is just Eivors version of the memory. Doused with his biased views in his Norse mythology. Which includes Odin Thor Loki Freya Helina and all of them
Feel like they could’ve done more with the story towards the end of the game. Felt like the end was a bit rushed. Nonetheless still a great game just a bit disappointed towards the end. I expected a great war with king aelfred and story line to kill king harald and take back control of norway. Also I feel like there should’ve been more to ubba’s death instead of just finding him on your own. Maybe like a mission where you bring him to halfdan and have a funeral to send him to valhalla. A lot of missed opportunities towards the end of the game.
@@NonceAndrew I’m not sure if thats historically accurate or not, I’ve never studied norse mythology or viking stuff, but you can actually find ubba’s dead body in the game after learning he died.
Not so much rushed, as though they were forced into setting up a bunch of dumb things for another game instead of letting it play out and forcing the next game to find it's own path from the ending of this one.

i agree with that, tied in the story of the order and the gameplay better than just having a target on your back and not knowing what the hell is going on but killing them.
I just wish they bring back that assassins creed 1786 series with pirates and swords with better boarding i like the game but I just miss that Assassins creed black flag style
Not at all, story is way out of line and makes no sense. Instead of the new games making some things clear they make it even worse.. so now a old snake is in the present day this shit makes no sense
@@mrunknown164 There is no “snake” in the modern day, Loki only wanted revenge upon Odin, and wants to re unite his family. Basim is now the protagonist, and was a hidden one to begin with, so it makes sense he’d still work for the assassins upon his return to modern times. Basim is a sage and has all the knowledge of his previous life as an Isu, which will undoubtedly help the Assassins in their fight against the Templars.
It makes me wonder if the staff could revive Basim despite him being dead for so long, could it revive Eivor? I don't know the limits of the staff as I'm not well versed in AC lore, and him being a skeleton may be too far gone for the staff, but it's interesting to think about.
You don't have to collect ALL of those clues. You can...going from the only partially hidden bodies, find the target and kill them that way too. Also, if instead of going for the loot you first kill all the soldiers in an area first...you inadvertantly kill many targets rather than have to do some of the mini games like drinking lol.
Why would he want to kill him? Doesn't matter if weather he's a sage or if he's a reincarnated Loki or not. He isn't Loki he's still just Basim. He's an Assassin, no matter how strange he and his back story is. He's an Assassin.
I'm going to be completely honest. I understand this is probably a hot take but I genuinely think that the ending without Sigurd is the "true ending". Throughout, the game Sigurd changes. He becomes reckless and harsh. For Eivor, to blindly stick with his brother, despite seeing these blatant changes. While loyal, just ultimately feels kind of stupid. It would be like if in RDR2, Arthur ended up siding with Dutch at the end of the game. Narratively, it doesn't make sense. By constantly blindly siding with Sigurd, you're ignoring Eivor's character growth through the game. Understandably, the ending without Sigurd is more sad, but narratively it makes more sense, it's more solemn, more quiet, and somehow still it's most beautiful. Through the "bad ending" the game in the end ultimately feels more like Shakespearean tragedy, both characters have pervasive flaws, that lead to Eivor's betrayal, but it's so much more human, it's not "happily ever after", but it doesn't have to be, and somehow (to me at least) that just makes it better.
I agree, it fits with the character development. Beginning as the naive follower and ending as the stoic leader. An individual. Knowing that his decisions would not necessarily make him popular.
@@punkyllama420 yea, most of the choices that Eivor has to make to get the “bad ending” are the harder, but the more morally correct choices (with the exception of romancing Sigurd’s wife, but u can still have the “bad ending” without this choice). Standing up against Sigurd, not following the “Viking’s code” that he was taught his entire life because he’s realized it’s inherent flaws, overall it just makes for a better story, and shows the growth of Eivor as a more morally complex character. And I have to believe that Darby feels the same way, in most of his interviews Darby states that Eivor betrays Sigurd, and that the ending isn’t going to be a happy one, that it’s a more pensive, thoughtful ending. Similar to Black Flag
Straight up I thought the best way to play Eivor was that he was smart and reasonable but quick to anger and due to that anger he would make some (what the game considers) bad choices. Im bad ending all the way.
This was a long game, but still felt incomplete. The ending was just meh. I expected more. It was a good game, but it just fizzled out. I guess I have to pay $40 to get the two expansions and see the "true" ending.
The ending was good, better than origins and odyssey. This ENDING fixed the damn problem of assassin's creed as a whole, making the present day plot interesting and move forward It's just as the batman arkham knight type of ending. U need to finish the prologue, asgard arc and the anomalies throughout england. It's to understand why basim did wht he did and will do later
I thibk its more because eivor was a female and basim did not realise that she was Odin reincarnated because of this rather than because the mark was torn
The (bad) ending isn’t necessarily bad because if u played the story towards the end Sigurd was shown visions and wanted to leave. So this ending is sad but also Sigurd did want to leave to Valhalla so it’s good in a way
Assassin's always discover a way to fuck up the world thinking they are saving it but they just give Templars a free way. Even Desmond with his sacrifice.
@@IssaAbbani Lorewise, they (ubi) have always said that Templar and Assassins are the "same", being good and bad guys depending on the side you look at it. Both of them want a "free world" for the human being, but it's supposed that templars want the freedom by control, meanwhile Assassins wants a total free world. Between them are the Isu or The Ones who Came Before that they want to control humans like they did before their destruction.
i came here to find the ending, since im at 120h and couldn’t find the end of all those loops opened. looks like i already did. they don’t explain nothing
I don't really see not returning with Sigurd as a 'bad ending', more of a regrettable one. Sigurd did become pretty damn intolerable as he 180'd on you. Especially after that crap he pulled with Gudrun and that dude who mistakenly took her sail cause he thought she was throwing it away. Sigurd became a tyrant, thanks to that jerk Basim, yes, but Sigurd went right along with it.
He saved Eivors Life and is like a brother to him, in the good ending he actually apologizes and realizes that he's always been following Eivor unbeknownst to him so he ceded his position to him without a fuss and all smiles
It's not the end. The DLC's will continue the story. I won't spoil, but to give you guys a right direction search for the secret ending of Basim. It reveals something which most of us have missed. This secret ending reveals who Basim really is and why Eivor is being accused for the responsibility of his children. It also reveals who Sigurd & Eivor really are
just finished the game....i think this franchise could end its legacy through 2 more titles, first in the crusades era, with a huge middle east map, and finally, a modern day assassins creed to seal the deal...and to find out what happened to abstergo
Thanks for this! There's no way of telling what's an important decision in-game, so getting the good ending first try is basically just luck based. If I don't get the good ending, I don't feel like spending another 100 hours going through everything again. :P
There are many obvious decisions to make which weigh in heavily, one of them would be romancing Randvi while she's still with Sigurd or punching him...
23:26 - that is the moment were you can feel that the Assassin's Creed Saga begins... Templars Assassins Every hero, every adventure, everything begins THERE

No such thing as bad ending. The only bad ending is if you keep holding your axe dueling with Odin and if you keep holding your axe.You will notice that people on that arena keep appearing until you unequipped your axe.
What I love with these games is both sides have good motives however one is too oppressive (templars, order etc) while the assassins realistically could not work and would lead to the former. The issue I had with this game however is the ending didn't have the same impact as Odessy. I mean you had an incredibly depressing ending if things went wrong with Kassandra and it made me more determined to get a good ending 2nd time
This game is so weird how's this even an ending like it's just different endings for arcs like where is the True ending every game has one where credits roll what is this nonsense
@Frans Delt Thank you for correcting me. However, I’m familiar with this grammar rule. It's also important to know your audience. Since my comment is on UA-cam, I could afford to use a casual tone. You, on the other hand, assumed that I must be ignorant, which is very rude. What if English isn’t my first language? Next time, ask yourself: is this comment necessary? Mind your manners, Frans.
Combat aside I actually loved a lot about this game despite what skill up says. It's a beautiful slow burn game. I wish the game did a better job of showing finality with Basim returning. That felt like a satisfying ending but then, for me anyway, I still had one more small area to pacify in England and that ending was a lot weaker. I randomly got a message on my HUD that stated I should feel free to keep exploring and that was pretty much the end. I feel like they should have tied up the endings in a more satisfying way
So the only difference from the Good Ending and the Bad Ending is that Sigurd doesnt come back with you? That seems kind of lackluster, even everything down to what Randvi says and Eivor's subsequent speech is the same.
I guess I just finished the game I got the good ending and just finished the Holy Day assault and didn't even know that was it. It's weird finishing a game and not getting end credits, but I did enjoy the game. I'm guessing there will be dlc to tie everything up or VALHALLA 2 (of sorts).
@@JasinIseini because if he were actually playing it, it would be more than earth-shattering, just watching it doesn't excite you but I played these whole endings with a wide open mouth, so he pretty much had it coming
So Odin/Mad One/ Eivor; Basim/Loki; Aletheia/Lokis wife(partner).... and Basim plan is to rescue/resurect his wife and child (Fenrir) and also take a revenge on Odin... and Odins kid? Not sure if I understood correctly the conversations between Loki and his wife during glitches
I think this game becomes a lot more enjoyable if you think of it as a Viking game in the assassin's creed universe rather than an assassin's creed game.
A mistake many of these "die-hard" fans have just gone ahead and made. Black Flag is much more a pirate game than a standard AC and it turned out great. It's good to have a different theme and flavour, otherwise it'll become stale. I do hope people will see and appreciate Valhalla for what it is if they haven't already done so.

It's the Mary Leud cloak. The very same one that was glitched/stuck on you after the Mary Leud quests. Perhaps Ubisoft will make it available in our inventory one day!
This doesn’t matter really about the bad ending because you still get to be a jarl and Sigurd stays at RavensThorpe and you still get to have Randvi if it’s her you want

@@karlcoulson8739 No, Vinland is America, as the "tribe" of Native Americans that Eivor meets is Connors tribe from AC3. That's how they obtained the orb and has been protecting it for generations. That was the whole point of them adding that area into the game, was to connect AC: Odyssey to AC: Valhalla which then connects to AC3.
It's stupid that they imply Alfred founds the Templar order over 200 years before it actually is founded, but as we've seen, the later Templars absolutely do not stick to his God guided vision of a just world, they carry on researching the Isu and using both religion and chivalry as a front for their true purpose. So the beliefs of the Order of Ancients were absolutely absorbed by the Templars.
Oh I guess I finished the game then lol. Idk why I was looking for some epic ending, got all these ending one play through. Gotta say as my first AC game this was pretty amazing. I'm a fan now and will go back and play some older titles.
That last mission was weird "oh, we've been ambushed and the king isn't here". And somehow surviving the ambush meant we took over the entire region? A region with a bunch of places soldiers are hanging around. And we've to assume that Alfred decided he just wanted to bake some bread instead of regrouping somewhere. This was a REALLY weird ending. I actually thought I'd done something wrong and skipped a massive chunk of the storyline, it was that abrupt. Alfred betrayed Eivor and killed his friends, and if you do the Grand Maegester ending straight afterwards it's almost like the 'oh you' meme. Baffling.
This pisses on the work Kassandra put in. 2000 years on guard duty, only to be deceived by a reincarnated Jotun??!! No wonder Kassandra told Layla to destroy the staff. She already knew it was all bullshit.
Well actually he’s an isu and eivor had kind of dream sequences of norse mythology, in a way symbolic but he grew up with norse mythology so it makes sense he sees isu norse gods and the animus anomalies show the full (asgard) ending
UnknownError 404 Angraboda is the name of Loki’s mistress, and mother to Fenrir, who is Jotun. Who I’m now also lead to believe is reincarnated into Aletheia, who’s spirit is embedded within the staff. Loki didn’t deceive Kassandra. Aletheia did.
I got the good ending, the order of the ancients ending, and the Layla becoming a golden person ending. I wish it was more obvious of an ending, like an epic title card with aloud music or something
So you are telling me that 116 hours I spent grinding my character to kingdom come, pledging to all those clans and nations, fought a big ass dog, traveled across oceans, climbed my way down to the Earth's core to find a pair of boots and some books, fought a big ass dude then stole his beer, fucked my brother's wife,... All that, so I could drop my weapon then run away then literally win with the power of fucking friendship so a 2000 years old dude could then take my body? And all the people that I've made friend with didn't even show up at the end? What the fuck? I could have achieved more spending 116 hours staring at a fucking wall than playing this shit. Holy fuck it's not even the $59.99 that I feel wasted.
Tbh I knew The Father was Aelfred the moment he first appeared after Fulke captured Sigurd. His shadowy figure in the order menu perfectly matched Aelfred and it all made sense. There is no person in the whole England with more authority than Aelfred.
I still can't believe I finished this game. The story was so captivating and interesting that I completely forgot about the whole hours played. I wish this game was longer because it seemed like it went by in a second. In any case, the game was really great and I can't wait for the next parts to surprise me just like it did this and the others from the past!!!
As someone who just got finished the first Norway missions and woke up as Layla I have no idea what's going on here and these comments make no sense but im still watching
My thoughts are that after Eivor visited Vineland, traded with the Natives, found the Natives friendly, and knew that apple of eve is with those in Vineland, Evior decided to return and retire in peace.
I hate how they kill off Layla just as her story was getting good they throw her out, I hope we don't play as basim for the next three games because I would hate that, because of who he really is

The final big battle was raid on a small village, I don't even really think we needed the whole allied army for that, my longboat crew could have taken that in minutes, no major characters would have died. Im not saying I needed a grand battle at the end, its just the pacing feels really off

I resoect your opinion, but sometimes, a game only needs a finish that defines what the main character desires, peace and freedom from chains bonding the character to a role so overwhelming and taxing, causing inner suffering for each loss. Now, the Raven clan gets to feel that peace for once, not having to run from something, but getting to stay at peace and comfort for a time

That present day ending with Basim was interesting. Will he be the new modern day protagonist? Also, was Desmond the Reader? Sounded a lot like him.
@@storm479 isn't Desmond dead
@@jetstreamattano4176 His body definitely is. But many speculate the Reader is Desmond's consciousness, due to references to 'New Life' and sharing the voice actor Nolan North.
And the last few years the fanbase has been calling for his revival, or at least that killing him off was a mistake (despite that he was killed off before the fans called for it at the time, but the game where he died was the one that actually got me into the AC saga, so I can't say much).
So I don't think it's beneath Ubisoft to try and figure out a way to revive/resurrect him in some form.
Desmond is most likely the Reader, Nolan North voices both.
So did basim trick that girl into touching that ball an somehow resurrect himself?
Yes correct Cory he tricked her so he can go into modern day considering he was stuck in the grey he made her press the sphere so he could go into modern day and her body pretty much is gone and he got the staff to resurrect himself
The game would have been 10/10 if it actually directed you in ways to complete the game to make sense. I ended up getting caught up in Sigurd’s story and kept doing them missions and didn’t know how pretty much all the other stories and even side missions link to the game. Yeah thats the next part of ASSASSIN'S CREED RAVELATIONS ending cut scene
The Asgard ending is just Eivors version of the memory. Doused with his biased views in his Norse mythology. Which includes Odin Thor Loki Freya Helina and all of them
28:02 anyone else got a "Adam, Eve and the tree of knowledge" vibe?
Yup
Ya we know Adam and eve escaped the isu but I don't think eve has ever been confirmed for the modern-day story Desmond was for Adam
The thing is they didn’t include west England on the map, which is where Ubbe died (Devonshire)
@@NonceAndrew I’m not sure if thats historically accurate or not, I’ve never studied norse mythology or viking stuff, but you can actually find ubba’s dead body in the game after learning he died.

Those endings actually have great opurtunity to make next game great
Exactly, it sets up the franchise to do what it wants, to return to what made AC great
Not at all, story is way out of line and makes no sense.
@@IamSupreme333 hmm makes sense yes. Curious how this turns out
It makes me wonder if the staff could revive Basim despite him being dead for so long, could it revive Eivor? I don't know the limits of the staff as I'm not well versed in AC lore, and him being a skeleton may be too far gone for the staff, but it's interesting to think about.
The great things about AC Valhalla is, you need to collect the info and clues to get your assassination target. A lot more to explore

Just like the game said, Basim is a hard man to trust. When he wanted to meet William Miles i had a feeling that he wanted to kill him
Why would he want to kill him? Doesn't matter if weather he's a sage or if he's a reincarnated Loki or not. He isn't Loki he's still just Basim. He's an Assassin, no matter how strange he and his back story is. He's an Assassin.
@@edgyomellete0121 I thought so because he betrayed Eivor, assassin’s shouldn’t kill for personal reasons.
@@Arwindor well to be fair odin betrayed Loki first. Now that they're reincarnated and are entirely different people Basim betrayed Eivor
@@rice-man9254 "pensive and thoughtful" is exactly the way I would describe what I've seen so far. It definitely seems to be a more mellow story.
Its a strange but welcome experience to see a well spoken and polite disscusion in a UA-cam comment section.

@Frans Delt I see you didn’t take my advice.

@@ryanhussey3896 No, they weren't, idiot. The modern day cabin area is in North America.
My thoughts are that after Eivor visited Vineland, traded with the Natives, found the Natives friendly, and knew that apple of eve is with those in Vineland, Evior decided to return and retire in peace.
I took 100h game played to complete the main quest, and still, I got 85% progress
I hate how they kill off Layla just as her story was getting good they throw her out, I hope we don't play as basim for the next three games because I would hate that, because of who he really is
I didn't know that I finished the game I still have one person to meet and one place to discover
I'm missing a location and a faction, idk where to look
Can someone please tell me how did Soma died? And is there a way to prevent it? Thank you

What did you find at Alfred's study ?
Crack, lots of crack.
I came here after doing the Hamtunscire arc, apparently I finished the game even before that. The game is awesome but confusing.
Not gonna lie for the epilogue I don’t think the three of them would’ve died if Sigrid would stop sitting on his ass in his bed and his throne and actually helped us
Do you mean sigurd? How, he literally only has one arm lol
