The JHS Superbolt V2 refines the already popular Superbolt overdrive by improving the taper on the volume and tone controls and adding Red Remote functionality. Same classic, amp-like rock tones, just with better functionality and versatility.
The core sound of the Superbolt is based on the classic Supro amps of the 1960s such as those used most famously by Jimmy Page. The Superbolt offers classic, crunchy, old-school overdrive tones with plenty of warmth and roundness. There's no spiky, modern-style distortion to be found here. Much like its tone, the Superbolt has a no-nonsense control scheme. A volume control for, of course, controlling the volume; a tone control for adjusting the brightness; and a drive control for the gain. Finally, there's a gain switch placed in the middle of the controls which allows you to switch between two different styles of overdrive. In the down position you can achieve smoother and less aggressive tones allowing you to emulate the sound of an amp that's just breaking up into overdrive - ideal for blues-y styles. In the up position the tone gets dirtier with higher headroom and upper-mid emphasis for that classic heavy rock tone.
The improvements on the V2 allow you to access the range of sounds in the Superbolt with greater ease. The improved taper on the volume and tone controls mean you can be more precise when you're dialling in your tone. The ability to hook up a JHS Red Remote means you can activate the gain switch remotely using the footswitch which allows you to change the style of overdrive without taking your hands off the guitar!
