I've had the Hotone Stage for a little over a week and it's amazing. The Reverbs and Delays are great. I've probably only gotten into 10% of what this thing can do. One thing I'm loving so far is plugging in my PRS Custom 24 Piezo into Both Inputs... and using the Parallel template and putting different effects on each input. So in other words you can put Delay, Reverb effects on the Piezo pickup and also whatever effects you want on your Magnetic pickups for some really creative sounds. It's a lot of fun. I also like the Looper having UNDO/REDO and the drum machine for jamming and practicing. I seem to get more creative with guitar riffs if I have a Drum beat going first. Hotone hit a Home Run here. And I'd get the Hotone Soul Press II pedal over this new Ampero II Press. The Soul Press II is a 3 in 1 pedal that can be a Wah,/Volume(or both) and an Expression pedal. It's a better bang for the buck. Overall the Ampero II is giving you a lot for the money. I've tried Muti Effects 2-3X more expensive and I'd take the Stage over them. It's all subjective really and really depends on what you're looking for in this type of effects unit... but if $$$ isn't the issue... pay up for the Stage over the cheaper Effects Processors/Modelers out there. You won't be disappointed
I think it sounds great. The price point is good, it is feature packed, just the right size for floor and desktop use. Has the thick, rich sound of a Fractal Modeler, and an excellent UI and Desktop Librarian/Editor, 8x8 USB audio functionality and variable sampling rates from 44.1kHz to 192kHz. It looks like they really listened to what Users want and need. Regarding it not having a built in Expression Pedal, for those who want to us it as a desktop unit, having a separate Pedal makes a lot of sense, and that's the way I use my HX Stomp. Hotone did a great job, and the unit has just about everything one would want.
I bought a Headrush Prime three months ago. It has a mic input, too. I love that board, it's amazing. One thing that I am missing on those small units is an expression pedal.
First, I always enjoy your videos because you provide room for the cost conscious consumer to see what is out there that won't break their bank. Next, your point on the dual nature of this unit is the key distinctive. I own, and am very happy with, a Headrush Pedalboard. That is because I am not a singer. But, this unit is a game changer to those you cited in the singer songwriter types. Where you are making a single unit to travel with that can manage both functions is a value. That said, I would have liked to see you tackle that topic more as there are tons of boards that offer high gain distortions. It all has become sort of white noise at this point of the journey. But, if you can offer even the most basic demo of how this unit solves the singer songwriter need, I think this would be a great value to that customer. Cheers! Keep on doing the great work you do out there!
thanks for the review. For the older ampero II stomp users the major problem with this new unit is that a lot of its features were missed promised updates for the II Stomp. Those "future updates" were never delivered. Ampero II Stomp are waiting for scenes and gapless transitions effects for more than an year now. The terrible stomp mode switch that terrifies everybody that use the unit to play live are also a promised fix. Both units share the same DSP power but Hotone support was really bad and never delivered what is being promised.

I own real amps and have owned many modelers. Today, I put the Friedman IRX preamp into a Fender TMP loop. Sounded pretty good! The distortion/OD from any modeler still makes me chase tone all day to try and get em to sound real, whereas when I put some pedals in front of 1 or 2 real tube amps = glorius! I like the way the AMPERO is layed out though. Battle is still on, but real amps never enlisted....didn't have to.

indeed - I still have one in my "home" rack - stood the test of time quite well, but, obviously, newer units have much more processing power. As older I get, the less effects I prefer, so not much of an issue here...

Hello, I will ask a question from the rookie of the century. All my life I used (and currently use) a tube amplifier plus a pedalboard and I am thinking, for convenience, moving to the world of digital and this creature seems to be a good cost/performance option. My interest is not in using it at home (in my house I use the guitar directly to the sound card, I don't care about the sound) but exclusively for live performances. As I understand it, with the Ampero I can directly connect the PA to the mixing console, right? The resulting sound acceptable? As a monitor I use a 200w JBL that at the moment did not fit my guitar because having the amplifier behind it, it was unnecessary. Now it would be essential. I have many doubts regarding the type of sound I will hear from the monitor. I'm sure it will be less than the amplifier on my back, but if I stop carrying an amplifier, pedal board, etc. then I will gain in comfort. I'm sure I'll get used to it with time... Thank you so much PS: Sorry about my english...isnt good enough
If you choose Line6 as your guitar effects processing brand, you have to go with a full blown Helix to get vocal processing. The HX Stomp, Helix LT, and POD GO don’t have vocal processing. Fender’s new Tone Master Pro also has vocal processing, but it hasn’t been around long enough for Fender to start creating cheaper alternatives. That means you’ll have to drop $1600 to get both vocal and guitar processing in a single unit, but now the Hotone Ampero provides that cheaper alternative that I’ve been looking for. However, the one thing you failed to cover is whether or not it has a tone library where you can download patches.
The thing about multi fx is...when the change in between presets, will there some micro or milli seconds of jerkiness? How about this one? Or are they using some sort like snapshots? Also will the previous effect bleed into next preset lke the delay & reverb tails?
I just bought one, and honestly, I am glad it doesn't have a built-in expression pedal. It has 2 x 1/4' jacks for expression pedals and/or eternal switches so it's more flexible and the tiny onboard expression pedals on units this size usually have a very short travel and don't work terribly well. I use my Fractal expression pedal with this and it's great
I'm waiting for it to go down in price. From the sounds of it - they promised scenes support on the stomp and then only gave it to the stage. Kinda makes me nervous about supporting Hotone because software support is a big deal for modelers.
"...That way if one of your band members, while you're performing, comes over and they're like, 'Hey, look at all the pretty lights! Oh, let me just change all these!' they're not gonna mess up any of your settings." I'm reminded of the words of Ian Faith, Spinal Tap's manager, regarding the cricket bat he habitually carried: "...To be quite frank with you, it's come in useful in a couple of situations. Certainly in the topsy-turvy world of heavy rock, having a good solid piece of wood in your hands is quite often, mm, _useful."_
Nice patch! I'm going to try and build this patch in Amplitube, not if I could only play like you! Ha! I like the vocal processor Idea. Can you change vocal patches per song for example? I think that would be key for someone like me as I do electronic rock and would want to have control of sound per song.
I'm still madly in love with the Zoom G.2tt..It's got tubes and is only about 380 with two pedals built in. the smaller one has some John 5 related " pr " points.
I'm in the market for a multi effects pedal. I like the idea of being able to rearrange the order and parallel different effects, etc. Call be weird but I am not, oddly enough, really interested in the IR's or amp modelling. So, my question then, is this... Is there a good multi effects processor out there that has a ton of great features at a decent price (like the Valeton GP-200) that focuses more on the effects and less on the IR's and amp modelling?
Kind of expensive but it looks like it has a lot of capabilities. So maybe worth the price if you need the “full boat” of effects. Especially if you need vocal effects processing as well seems it might be just the thing to get it done!
I choosed the Ampero Stage! The Kemper sounded like a "picture" of the Amp but has still his own sound underneath in a kind of Mid-Honkiness i didn't like (where the ToneX has kind of a certain Bass-Sound underneath all Captures).
Henning called this "Quad Cortex's Little Brother." Even though there's not a lot going on for the Quad Cortex, it sort of wins because it may not sound the best based on some opinions, but it has the most intuitive interface. You can learn how to use without reading the manual and even with the editor software, you can build tones on the pedal itself faster.
Still better price than a Kemper or Quad cortex. I know those are way more powerfull but this is still an awesome budget option. Analog pedals are still expensive...
⭐️⭐️ Dang MAX! It feels like my Neural DSP rig is totally an ancient relic from a time so long ago it was a stroke of luck that we even had reading and writing back then… you know.. like 2 years ago. Ancient. This stuff is moving so fast! You made a KILLER tone that really sounds damn proper for what you set out to get. You should make some more Blues patches because you’re really good at it.. like, a lot better than you think you are. That may or may not be the focus of much of your playing, but you are really seriously good at constructing the rigs to get the extremely good tones for it. So, if you are feeling really generous sometime.. maybe you could make a few of those and share them with us peasants. As always, thanks for everything you do! 🤘😎🤘
I had an Ampero II Stomp which I sold recently. Tones are amazing but I need some added convenience thru snapshots/scenes. I think this is the chosen one.
That is a hefty price tag. My guess is Hotone had to spend a ton learning to make a vocal processor and they thought they'd tap into a niche market of vocal processors... To me, I'd want to keep those things separate, because there is nearly no chance my taste in vocal processor units and effects units would both prefer the same brand.
Hey, I'm 68 with atonal neuropathy. I have a a pedal board with 12 boss/mad professor. Etc. Pedals, it cumbersome and not DI friendly, have been looking into this Ampero, my problem is the tweaking of gear like this, I have limited dexterity and patience, are the presets usable out of the box, I prefer subtle Gilmour, Vai, type of dpacial sounds and want to go firect to computer or play silently, I value your opinion, would like your help
Great video Max. I've got a ampero mini with some custom tones made up. You're 100% right, the control they give you for an expression pedal..it should be included. The mini was my pick based on what I do, and I had the expression pedal before I picked up the mini. Its a huge game changer with the amount of flexibility it gives you for crafting something to your likings. That vocal signal chain has been done on others, but they have always been very limited with what they offer. This doesn't seem to run into the problems like the line6 and boss units had in the past(I know first hand). And I tested some others out too. Hotone are definitely staying a step Infront of the others with the ampero line. Also killer tone btw. I was surprised on the gain level at first, then you said you used the od pedal too..makes total sense for boost.
Thats very nice, im a plug in and play off the shelf person, i do have some effects like a built in spring reverb and push the amp for gain overdrive and occasionaly use flanger and chorus, but are we going too far with effects as they can hide mistakes behind the noise? effects should be used to colour not mask natural tone, i think one would be a better player to stay relatively simple, just my opinion.
I think, that lowering the price by separating expression pedal is nice. Not everyone use this. It also gives posibility to place expression pedal enywhere you want on the flor or option to buy bigger one if that's what you prefer (so you have dedicated pedal aligned with your needs and smaller milti-effect unit instead of 2 pedals while you use only one of them. Build-in expression pedals in units like this are typically very small and with litle movement range, this doesn't make them the best hardware. You can always buy super cheap one and connect it, there are even compact ones on the market.
I think I’m gonna get it, I love making things and plugging keyboards in and adjusting stuff. I think I will buy it and stick my guitar in record some stuff. Thank you so much for sharing this
I have a line6 amplifi fx100 that does everything this does plus more, its bluetooth and app for editing with 1000s of settings via their online data base .cost me £75 used
Great info! I’m curious what amp (the actual amp. Not the modulated one) you’re using for this demo and how the settings for that amp are set. I’m also curious how you send it to the youtube channel. 21:30 i do. I’m curious how that sounds. Maybe you can demo that or provide a link or something? Thanks in advance 🙏🏻
When I'm in a band, I do sing and play at the same time (sometime lead vocals, but mostly backing vox). Before I start my spiel, let me first say that units like this are cool as hell and I love that we have this capability now! But..., when I'm in a band, it's generally a 'bar band', so we play 40+ songs per night. One of the main reasons I've resisted buying a module like this is that, for any given song, I have to stomp effects in and out during the song (some times only one, and other times up to three). I feel like I'd have such a hard time getting all the songs' configurations down so I could do that, AND remember which settings are for which songs throughout the night, AND remember to switch the settings between each song. And quite often, we jump around in our set lists, so configuring the settings for the songs 'in order' isn't always helpful. Still, what a powerful little unit this is! Thanks for sharing, Max.
In that case what it really needs is a detachable head/display unit, so you could mount the display on the mic stand, thus have the ability to easily scroll through the setlist to the preprogrammed patch, something like that. Jazzers use apps like iRealPro on their phones during gigs and scroll to different song charts, so, scrolling through pedal patch sets sould be okay too, if it could be presented in a user friendly way.
this ampero stage is beautiful but the question is immediate and simple! when you change from one preset to another preset.......is it silent or is the change not audible?
I definetely prefer a unit without expression pedal cause It can be used also as a desktop device, also the expression pedals of multifx tend to not work after a while
I really like your videos. Fantastic tones and great playing. Would love to have heard a singer through the vocal section. I've got a Pod Go and love that it has the built-in expression pedal. For recording I've got AmpliTube 5, and it's just incredible. Best of luck with your channel!
Skills in guitar is needed but if you cannot find tune the best settings and configuration in your effects you will be mess-out the flavor of your music that is why in every new effect you had to spend more time to experiment the flavor of your music set-up.
Auto tune is a brand belonging to the same matrix company as Headrush does, so I would very much doubt so. But I would be interested as hell on a shootout of these two units. Particularly for vocal processing capabilities!
Waaay to expensive! For guitar processing, the Mooer GE300 still beats this thing featurewise and is in the same pricerange. And soundwise they're similar IMHO
its cool but i would miss the expression pedal, i wanted a small multi effects for playing live and i recently bought a headrush mx5, i havent played live with it yet but programming it was pretty easy, the acoustic sim is very nice and the ac30 sounds amazing on it, and its tiny!!
It's best to use aftermarket- same with looper. Easier to control.. Built ins are infamous for breaking and bricking units like with Helix- that is the main failure point. You need to smile more dude. Have you had a rough life or too much drug use? Knock that sh*t off and play your guitar!

PS: Sorry about my english...isnt good enough
This is what I have been asking for!
Love the strat! I want a pink one like it.
Wow Max !!! What an intro. You definitely have progress in the past year. Cheers
Thanks a ton!
The thing about multi fx is...when the change in between presets, will there some micro or milli seconds of jerkiness? How about this one? Or are they using some sort like snapshots? Also will the previous effect bleed into next preset lke the delay & reverb tails?
That is my number 1 concern with multi-effect pedals, and you don't know until you use it in real time.
I have this unit, one of the best features is seamless changes. Incredible.
Great! thanks for the info, I'll probably pick one up.@@legendarychillmonroe6234
I use my Fractal expression pedal with this and it's great
Thanks so much for the info about the MP-100.
Oh, let me just change all these!' they're not gonna mess up any of your settings."
I'm reminded of the words of Ian Faith, Spinal Tap's manager, regarding the cricket bat he habitually carried: "...To be quite frank with you, it's come in useful in a couple of situations.
"Toobs"
Those are killer. Rock on!
Great demo. Would love to see this and the Kemper Profiler Player in a comparison video. Both are around the same price. Which one would you choose?
Really liking the Hotone ampero stuff
Same processing as the A2S (Ampero Stomp) which could have scenes with a firmware update. It's a great unit to be sure. But I really love my A2S.
🤘😎🤘
The quad cortex is better than this, dude.
I love ampero, but ampero 2 it's absoluty amazing, I'll buy the mine ampero 2 soon, excellent video, greetings from mexico
Oh man I must check this pedal out. Thanks 🙏 for the great review
You had me at:
"pedal board from aliens"🤟
Great review as always!
Cool sound and lovely the P-38 behind you.
The can of Tab on the shelf gets me every time. lol
Many thanks!
Well damn, Max, that was killer! If I can ever play half that well, I'll call myself good!
Thanks!
I think I’m gonna get it, I love making things and plugging keyboards in and adjusting stuff. I think I will buy it and stick my guitar in record some stuff. Thank you so much for sharing this
Excellent review. Dig the P-38 Lightning model behind you.
+1 for the Sagan 'Contact" ref!!! 🤘😝 Awesome shred tone!
I love this unit. I hope to get one very soon.
I like how "triple core" is a huge marketing thing for them as if the phone in your pocket doesn't have 8 cores.
This is a very good point
Some of the new modelers have 4/8 cores…. It’s like bragging about your 6 cylinder Mustang
😲🤯😍Beast! I want this processor!💥
Perfect presentation
Ive been waiting for this review. Lol
Awesome. 🤘
This was a shortish review. I'd like to see if it hooks up to a computer to create patches there.
Tube Screamer or like pedal , a Wah , an amp
Nothing more needed ! (In my world)
But that thing is near Cool As You Max
The hollow body sounds like a tube amplifier and some other pre sets do too.
Rule of thumb: If a UA-camr refers to a product as being a "gamechanger" then, it's obsolescence clock is already ticking.
That probably sounded cool in your head.
@@RDB93 😂
How would you use the Ampero 2 Stage in a live setting without an amp or cab? How would the cabling look like?
Brake rocks? Ulta sound,to move inner frequency amp. To transmit ore device.
4:34 Holy cow & wow. The only tone you would ever want.
It has been announced that there are 6 blocks each for A, B, and parallel, 12 blocks in total, but how many blocks can actually be used?
this ampero stage is beautiful
but the question is immediate and simple!
when you change from one preset to another preset.......is it silent or is the change not audible?
I definetely prefer a unit without expression pedal cause It can be used also as a desktop device, also the expression pedals of multifx tend to not work after a while
Presets don't work unless they come with the amp. Programmable save feature is the key.
I would drop the middle
I really like your videos. Fantastic tones and great playing. Would love to have heard a singer through the vocal section. I've got a Pod Go and love that it has the built-in expression pedal. For recording I've got AmpliTube 5, and it's just incredible. Best of luck with your channel!
Thank You Max ! 🙂
Great Video, Detail.
Can you try the vocal processing of the unit?
Skills in guitar is needed but if you cannot find tune the best settings and configuration in your effects you will be mess-out the flavor of your music that is why in every new effect you had to spend more time to experiment the flavor of your music set-up.
Awesome demo
Like the headrush core, does this has an auto tune on the vocal/mic section?
Auto tune is a brand belonging to the same matrix company as Headrush does, so I would very much doubt so. But I would be interested as hell on a shootout of these two units. Particularly for vocal processing capabilities!
Is there any pitch correction features on the vocals with the hotone antero ll stage?
@@MOAB-UT i dont drink or smoke am pushing 50 and dont have a line on my face, obviously how i look mustve triggered you, youre bald right? its not my fault
@@darkestfugue LOL- no. You just look too serious is all. Lighten up. Maybe you are just going for the whole dark and mysterious thing. I met David Coverdale once- he had the same aura about him so do what works for you I suppose.
So then do you do botox or something like plastic surgery. At 50, most would have a line. I have plenty of hair thank you.
@@MOAB-UT you assume a lot because im not smiling in a picture, im 49 in april, and i am aging, just well i guess, and i like a multi effect to have an expression pedal, i have a gt5 thats 25 years old not a thing wrong with it as well as a gt1000 and other things, i just dont want to be taking extra shit to gigs that i shouldnt need, i love this new little headrush mx5 i bought, it has pretty much everything and its tiny, its ac30 sim is surprisingly brilliant too
Nice one Max.
I sing and play all the time.
Yeeeeaaaaaaaaoooooowwwwwaaaaaaaahhhhhhoooooooooyyyyoooowwwwwzzzzssssaaaa! See?
If this unit also has a looper and MIDI clock sync for connecting from a beat machine, for synchronizing a drum loop/sequencer, then it really could be an excellent 1-man-band processor box.
Do you have instructions for sing and play guitar together with this machine
Gets tech from the future... makes tone from 1979 😎👍
