  • The Asia League Ice Hockey is a professional hockey league that was founded in 2003 in response to the waning popularity of hockey in Japan. The league is based in East Asia and consists of teams from Japan and South Korea, with teams from China and Russia having previously been involved. Currently, there are six teams in the league, with each team allowed to have up to six imports on their roster to keep the competition even. Salaries for players in the league range from about $35,000 to $200,000 USD per year. The Asia League Ice Hockey provides fans in East Asia with a high level of professional hockey, showcasing some of the best players from the region and beyond.
