12 years later and I still have this song stuck in my head. Sometimes I just burst into this song in the shower, lol. Great great song. One of the most underrated groups ever along with Mansun. :)
I sing the guitar. Some of the scales are hard to hit lol it’s a defining piece of those late ‘90s; the whole structure beneath it is great fletch’s bass and all. Classic song
This song, in my opinion, is one of John's best pieces of work. Hard to say - so many to choose - but to hear it played broken loose like this is great - yes it's loose, bad backing vocals, etc etc. but in another way it's also brilliant - just live music, which frankly - sometimes, who gives a f___ if it's 'right'!
Vocals were so bad because John had his amps turned up so loud it was unbearable for the other members. Helme later said John was so fixed on wanting all the praise and would constantly keep drowning them out.
I was there in the flesh watching this pissed down all weekend and it was an utter mud bath. Went back the following year exactly the same. Don’t know how I did it I couldn’t last an hour there now 😂
Chris did write this, I was at glastonbury when they did this set, chris said I was busking this song over there by the food stands, last year and isnt it ironic now!! John met chris when he played with his old band, in a bar in york and the rest is history. But this is most defo no john squires song, and it just happens to be the best song on the album!!!
Watched this band perform this song on TV back in the 90,s. Did,nt expect to see it again. Amazing. So much talent. Managed to get hold of the album CD a couple of years back and wasn,t dissapointed.
Beautiful song and beautiful performance drowned out by an attention seeker! Poor Chris Helme. I would have been so peeved it that had been me. Still one of my favourite songs by a mile.
Audio’s better here. I think there’s a soundboard of this show anyway quite frustrating with this group; there’s a few soundboard recordings out there but this is about the only live video that was released. I was at this one too
Yeah he is mate, if your on face book add him. He has a load of dates he is playing all over Uk, its a must gig to goto, you wont be disapointed mate, the man has just got better since the seahorses!!!
Top tune! Melodious and powerful. Very much underrated band. Unfortunately at the time everyone kept going on and on about Oasis (who were essensially a Beatles tribute band), that several more original bands got ignored.
Your right! greatest song of the Britpop era, and i would say chris wasn't fully formed as a vocalist at this stage but the guy wrote this fucking song, squire just noodled away in the background! And as for a busker was all that was required.. i think an ex stone roses guitarist was all that was required to get this heard! Chris Helme still writing and performing...John Squire painter (and decorator) i rest my case!
Squire threw his toys out the pram AGAIN! and Chrissy Helm said he couldn't work with him so it was over. Search the net there is a torrent floating about of the 2nd album never released but has some cracking tunes on it.
@Basilsparents No, you are right and @MREAGLEPAUL is wrong :) Chris Helme wrote this song. Liam Gallagher co-wrote Love Me & Leave Me although I think his only contribution was the first line... lol
Not aged well just over a year together they managed. Didn’t even make it into the millennium, I know what you mean but to be honest their album sounds like a good representative of the swinging ‘90s to me - if 6 was 9 and all that y’know a lot of twats saying rock music is dead but it will always sound more invigorating to me than the perpetual mugs game hasn’t doesn’t sounded particularly “fresh” in a long time, guess what that is. Viva real music….
don't mean to be thick but who is andrew deakin? Chris helme was always the front man for the seahorses. Sadly got ideas above his station and seahorses broke up.
I understand it was John Squires band , he was lead guitar but did he have to insist that his levels were so much higher than everybody's else's ? You can barely hear Chris singing !!!!!!
If Squire wrote this and gave the credit to Chris, how the fuck was Chris singing it in his previous band while gigging in York at least 2 years before he even met Squire??? I was at the gig Squire came to with his guitar-tech (also from York) where Squire saw Chris playing for the first time - and he played 'Blinded' that night!!! N.B. The story about Squire seeing Chris busking is just a myth, although Chris did also busk as well as play with his band and play solo. Shove that in your pipe...
Squire is one of the finest ever. However, coming from Manchester I may be a little biased. Oh and Meo, this song always was squire soloing all the way through it. You wanna see squire ruin a tune watch him guest with Oasis @ Knebworth 96 on Champagne Supernova. Believe they turned him down in the end.
Broke up as john squire said if the album didnt get to number one that was that. Chris helme (singer) is touring at the min seen him in newcastle last night he was mint even did some seahorses stuff, and let a local band do love is the law with him and nailed it totaly.
Lets have less of getting clever! These guys wrote some of the best tunes of the 90's , if you dont get it thats because you listen to Ride ,music by bedwetters for bedwetters!!! I dont see John squire playing bass for Oasis... Why because he's a fucking lead guitarist!!! something Andy Bell once claimed to be!!!
I remember this. He couldn't hear himself and neither could the drummer which was why he's unbelievably out of tune in parts lol.. John Squire is a genius though..
No bother man, its a class colletion of songs one called "dolphin" is amazing. as for Jandean61 saying The Smiths & The Stone Roses will play Monkey Islan in 2010 he is just talking pish Squire will never work with Brown again & Morrisey is too big headed to get The Smiths back together
12 years later and I still have this song stuck in my head. Sometimes I just burst into this song in the shower, lol. Great great song. One of the most underrated groups ever along with Mansun. :)
12 years after your comment I still love this song!
I sing the guitar. Some of the scales are hard to hit lol it’s a defining piece of those late ‘90s; the whole structure beneath it is great fletch’s bass and all. Classic song
Yeh, Mansun...🙏 Agreed....
Great song in an amazing album
Watched this on TV on the day and was blown away by John shredding - Wow then and still WOW now.

Fretwanking par excellence from The Unforgettable Squire here...
Really spiritual reigns of the light

shame he didn't write it
Chris Helme wrote it.
John certainly laid down the guitar. It was their big one; they knew it just look at the video for it n all. Stellar as the fella may say
Vocals were so bad because John had his amps turned up so loud it was unbearable for the other members. Helme later said John was so fixed on wanting all the praise and would constantly keep drowning them out.
What a bloody great band....
I was there in the flesh watching this pissed down all weekend and it was an utter mud bath. Went back the following year exactly the same.
Don’t know how I did it I couldn’t last an hour there now 😂
I liked this band very much then. I still do now. Pity they didn't do more good tunes such as this. TWELVE YEARS AGO?! wow.
one of the best bands of the 90s and best album awsome
what a band
Brilliant song.
Saw them around this time at the Kilburn National in London brilliant band. Their album was huge then apparently John Squire jacked it in with them
Brits in the 90s were so good at looking cool as hell
We still are soft lad 😂
Chris did write this, I was at glastonbury when they did this set, chris said I was busking this song over there by the food stands, last year and isnt it ironic now!! John met chris when he played with his old band, in a bar in york and the rest is history. But this is most defo no john squires song, and it just happens to be the best song on the album!!!
Brilliant but loved to hear Andrew Deakin sing it , RIP Andrew, such a vibrant young man!!
Watched this band perform this song on TV back in the 90,s. Did,nt expect to see it again. Amazing. So much talent. Managed to get hold of the album CD a couple of years back and wasn,t dissapointed.
This group could have been so much more.
Ah well. They sounded classic then and they sound utterly classic now
love the drummer
Love this song. Reminds me of good times. Thanks for posting!
1997, what a year!
Just learned this on acoustic, class song!!!!
They're great!
Thanks. RIP AD.
Beautiful song and beautiful performance drowned out by an attention seeker! Poor Chris Helme. I would have been so peeved it that had been me. Still one of my favourite songs by a mile.
the good old days, what a band
love this song!!!!!!!!!!
quality...proud to say i was there... in body if not mind
Audio’s better here. I think there’s a soundboard of this show anyway quite frustrating with this group; there’s a few soundboard recordings out there but this is about the only live video that was released. I was at this one too
thanks for posting!!!

tanx, a beautiful treat!

Squire just owns the stage! Legend
Lead guitar is great all the way through the track.
guitar legend
Aye mate its class just with it had been released.
Released 24 years ago this very day...
Yeah he is mate, if your on face book add him. He has a load of dates he is playing all over Uk, its a must gig to goto, you wont be disapointed mate, the man has just got better since the seahorses!!!
cheers mate il need to look into that
man i was there it was great even if the memory is a bit hazy as it was a messy weekend.
The Seahorses Mate.
Real shame they are no more!
yeah pure classic, shame only 1 album.
Thats cool, didnt realise you could get that. cheers
Top tune! Melodious and powerful. Very much underrated band. Unfortunately at the time everyone kept going on and on about Oasis (who were essensially a Beatles tribute band), that several more original bands got ignored.
what a band. john squire no.1
squires is a legend !!!!
Your right! greatest song of the Britpop era, and i would say chris wasn't fully formed as a vocalist at this stage but the guy wrote this fucking song, squire just noodled away in the background! “just noodled away”?! ..damn well 14 years on you’re older and wiser no doubt ~
@alfventress1 they are being Blinded by the Sun on the stage =)
Squire threw his toys out the pram AGAIN! and Chrissy Helm said he couldn't work with him so it was over. Search the net there is a torrent floating about of the 2nd album never released but has some cracking tunes on it.
Aye dolphin is a good track, there is a few on there I instantly like...
@Basilsparents No, you are right and @MREAGLEPAUL is wrong :) Chris Helme wrote this song.
Liam Gallagher co-wrote Love Me & Leave Me although I think his only contribution was the first line... lol
The Seahorses have not aged well at all. Had alot of potential, it's a shame their 2nd album never seen the light of day. It's actually pretty good.
Not aged well just over a year together they managed. Didn’t even make it into the millennium, I know what you mean but to be honest their album sounds like a good representative of the swinging ‘90s to me
- if 6 was 9 and all that y’know a lot of twats saying rock music is dead but it will always sound more invigorating to me than the perpetual mugs game hasn’t doesn’t sounded particularly “fresh” in a long time, guess what that is. Viva real music….
sounds brand new mate does he tour right across the u.k
Please reform Chris told me no when I asked him you never know in a few years time
Not gonna happen spoke with John about it.
@meinatree yeah Gallagher always seems to get the 1st line >.
don't mean to be thick but who is andrew deakin? Chris helme was always the front man for the seahorses. Sadly got ideas above his station and seahorses broke up.
I understand it was John Squires band , he was lead guitar but did he have to insist that his levels were so much higher than everybody's else's ? You can barely hear Chris singing !!!!!!
what stage was this?
shed 7 were the shit!!!!!!!
N.B. Squires curse. Everything good he creates he inadvertently destroys
Part of being a satanist I guess
Na you don't sound thick, it's a family friend whose favourite song just so happened to be this'n and he passed away
great band, just a shame ian and john coulnt sort it out
Yeah man, glasto at its best, chris at his best rock on!!!
is that true, That squire really wrote this?
Now tell me you don't love playing this a s a guitarist..... ;)
Yet you can't get his name right?
Shed Seven
Squire is one of the finest ever. However, coming from Manchester I may be a little biased. Oh and Meo, this song always was squire soloing all the way through it. You wanna see squire ruin a tune watch him guest with Oasis @ Knebworth 96 on Champagne Supernova. Believe they turned him down in the end.
You are either deaf or dum. Squire tore it up. He was perfect. He wasn't turned down at all. He's a fucking master compared to noel gagalot
Broke up as john squire said if the album didnt get to number one that was that. Chris helme (singer) is touring at the min seen him in newcastle last night he was mint even did some seahorses stuff, and let a local band do love is the law with him and nailed it totaly.
it's about...4:22 long. ;o)
Which is a bit ironic!
Squire is god...
Squire put a band together that could have been as big as the Rose's but decided to destroy it instead. What a waste.
Love John squire but his ego destroyed a good thing here x
I remember this. He couldn't hear himself and neither could the drummer which was why he's unbelievably out of tune in parts lol.. John Squire is a genius though..
@ozrics62 All music moves are ripped off someone and repackaged ...geez
Fuckin top. but if you love this tune check out Static Ian version top cover
John guitar is far to loud
browns gone downhill 2.renis band were ok but didnt last long, i think??i wish more bands were great like the roses were..not been much since then!
The roses ruled. However, Brown has never been able to sing. Ever.
this must be the shRed seven cover
Oh man, why did someone have to remind me it was 10 years ago this year?
Squire is on fire but the drummer is out of his depth. Backing vocals shocking lol
Drummer sounds absolutely fine to me, buddy 😀
Have you heard Ian Brown sing?
I think it's coz nobody could hear anything over Squire's guitar.
The sound mix is terrible
@@chrisbayes2972 what does that have to do with the comment? Lol
@Badgasaurus Just saying the drummer ain't the only one who's struggled to sing over Squire's Marshall stacks.
No bother man, its a class colletion of songs one called "dolphin" is amazing. as for Jandean61 saying The Smiths & The Stone Roses will play Monkey Islan in 2010 he is just talking pish Squire will never work with Brown again & Morrisey is too big headed to get The Smiths back together
why is squire doing all the jimmy page moves
rip off
great guitarist, not so good at singing tho me thinks.reform the roses john!
