Railing looks great and the utilization of it for the metal rack was genius! Hard to tell through the screen but I feel as though the 1000sp/ 700 would fit perfectly on the raised floor section of the shop and then the lift bay is perfect for the corvair/ bigger vehicles. Happy to see it all coming together buddy!
Awesone seeing the shop continuing to come together! An added "awareness/safety" idea to take for the ledge, paint the step a fluorescent color! May look tacky at first, but I can sense the relief of being able to spot it each time carrying something heavy over it 😅
When the move was first announced and location shared I admittedly felt bad for you, John 😅 It's been awesome to see you make the most of the available space!! Great content!
Hopefully that wasn't chlorinated brake cleaner you wiped the steel down with. If you are not aware: when heated (by welding) it can produce phosgene gas. Wich can poison/kill. Just a helpfull FYI.
John, throw a 2" receiver on the end of that handrail and/or even along the span of it and you can mount a vice, tube notcher, weld positioner, benchtop grinder. etc to separate 2" male's and you can utilize the free floating space. i work out of a 1 car garage space and have many tools on 2" receivers to swap them out.
That looks great. Colour match to the lift would be pretty cool. Brighter shelves so they stand out and you can avoid getting snagged when walking past
With regards to the condensation in your compressor, there is a great product made that attaches to the drain on the bottom of the receiver , it is electric, and has 2 settings, one for the duration of when it automatically runs, the other is for how long it runs, mine comes on once an hour for 8 seconds, I simply attached it to the drain for my ‘60s era drinking bubbler, which I simply used 3/4” PVC , which simply exits next to my garage door, I also heated , and squeezed thePVC pipe to an oval , the pipe volume is the same , only the dimension has changed , you can buy the automatic condensation drain on line , they save compressor lives !!MLNR JIMMY53 MRMC.
Steel rack looks great.all video looks great.almost feel like I was there working with you.great progress overall. Would you consider treating us to a couple of minutes of car content during these vids bro?like 3 minutes of b roll of anything lowered. Just to wet our whistle
This is awesome. That step down into the lift area makes my janky knees hurt. What about painting the edge of the step with some hi-vis paint to make it less forgettable?
The 2” receiver idea is great to whom ever came up with it I recently welded one to my small fab table and utilized baileigh industrial vise to it , going to be fabbing up a mount for my bench grinder aswell , planning on doing one centered up on all 4 corners of the fab table so when I put casters on I have options for where it sits in the garage !
Still am really impressed with the Arcdroid & ever since using one I could never see going back to any other CNC plasma Cutter of 4x4 & would only get a normal Plama Table if I had to go to 8x8. Their amazing, easy to use & best of all they fit anywhere the plasma cutter does when not in use & fully set up within minutes. Could recommend it enough especially if you've not got the space to spare...
What about using different colours of floor paint? If the two levels were painted differently it would make the two levels more visible and help prevent accidentally stepping off
Saw cutting and dressing that ledge should reduce stress cracking, chipping along with looking nicer. Nice rack and I see it somewhat protects the ledge. I like that you didn’t go real wide on shelves. I’ll need to copy.
Next time you do a long time lapse like this you should put a real time timer in one of the corners so when yer done we can see how much time has actually passed.
Maybe put a little bit of a table top on it and mount certain tools you would use often in this area of the shop instead of the removal tool idea so they are always there for use
Hey John, super cool separation of the 2 areas. The shelf is also a great idea. What are you doing with the large areas between the uprights? Plasma cutter signs? Ludwick's Garage Sign? I would think it would be nice to have an eye-catcher when you come in through the normal door and look at the railing! Greetings from Germany.
That was my original plan, but decided against it with the amount of weight all of the metal hanging on only one side of the railing, it made more sense to mount them transverse for more stability when loaded.
FOR A SMALL FEE OR CAR WORK ILL COME UP AND CARRY THE CAMRA FOR YOU HAHAHAHAHAHAH LET YOU DO FAB WORK ON MY 2006 SCION XB TO GET IT ALL WAY DOWN ON GROUND
Shop building makes the best content
So glad you did that , that rail added to the safety of your shop , well worth the expense and time
Great episode and idea!!! You’re certainly your father’s son with the ability to think of new ways to do something, especially to solve problems.
Shop is really coming together nicely.
What a great idea to put up a railing and have it useful to hold stock.
OSHA would be proud 😊good stuff

The rack and railing look great! Smart dual purpose.
I’ve been enjoying the shop build just as much as the car builds😅
Very slick. Nice work as always.
Thank you!
So multi skilled, I bet your dad is so proud you have retained so much of his shared knowledge
The railing was 1000% a great idea
Thanks James!
THE PINNED TOOL ON THE END RAIL IS GREAT I DEAL FOR SIMPLE WORK
Another excellent episode can’t wait for our long 🫵🏿💯🫡

Paint Yellow hand rail and gray post will match your lift
That rack / railing is slick! Very impressive and motivational. Thanks for sharing.
Anything that performs more than one job is a definite plus!
Hopefully that wasn't chlorinated brake cleaner you wiped the steel down with. If you are not aware: when heated (by welding) it can produce phosgene gas. Wich can poison/kill. Just a helpfull FYI.
That was a ton of work! Turned out awesome though. Good job! You'll feel so good every time you use it.

Shop build is awesome! I love the efficient use of space. Gives me some ideas to improve on my shop.
Outstanding craftsmanship!
Thank you!
Seeing progress of a new shop is pretty inspirational. Love this kind of content John 👌
Props for using the Taylor Ray quick time to show the fab work. It makes it enjoying to watch and yiu get to see the whole process👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Put tennis balls on the top flat stock, sooner than later you’re going to get hung up on the flat stock.

Great idea on transforming that odd spot in the floor and using it to your advantage!
Always appreciate hearing the thought process out loud as I do the same when I try to come up with different ideas when things start getting creative
Thanks for sharing and taking us along

Looks GREAT !!
Midweek episode 🙌🏼

This came out great! I agree with the suggestions of Yellow/Hi-Res colors on the rail and on the steps.
Very Nice ! Great Success !
Can’t wait until you get the Flxbl up on the lift!
That looked like a fun project!

That came out so badass!!!
Reslly nice work!!! 🤘🏼🇸🇪
THANKS AGAIN DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice work. Good looking shop.
Great execution
GREAT IDEA ! 😃👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

very cool update John! the rack/railing looks solid! and functional. i think its wise to have something to help you not step off that drop.
Yellow to match the lift. Are you going to cut the concrete flush not just leaving it like that?
Thanks now I want a plasma table
Great use of space, John. Happy new year.
Great idea!
Happy New Year! Loving the shop progress!
Awesome job John! It’s coming together nicely!
The railing looks pretty sweet! Low profile but can still fit plenty of material on the rack
I AGREE DUDE LOOKS GREAT!!!

That’s a great storage/safety solution. Can you add yellow paint or stick down tape to the edges where the step down is so it’s more visible?
That’s exactly what I plan to do!
Hey John, super cool separation of the 2 areas. The shelf is also a great idea.

Greetings from Germany.
Leave part of the one side open for sheet stock
IM SHARING ON FB & X
I was thinking that too. I think you had 20k subs when we started watching
Great video. Question, what liquid do you use in your plasma table?
Saw cutting and dressing that ledge should reduce stress cracking, chipping along with looking nicer.
Could paint that step down yellow to help visually
Would have been a good idea to primer the bottom of the post base before anchoring to floor to prevent rusting. Otherwise, good work.
John just a question are you going to add a half step to lower the drop from top to bottom
Gusset on the base of the railing?
YOU HIT THAT ON THE MONEY , TIME TO GET MORE GAS HAHAHAHA
You should have rotated the mounting plates by 90 degrees. This would have given you the ability to move the railing closer to the edge
That was my original plan, but decided against it with the amount of weight all of the metal hanging on only one side of the railing, it made more sense to mount them transverse for more stability when loaded.
@@JohnLudwick Ahh. I figured you'd build a bench or shelving on the opposite side. Nice work!
Why does your floor have two levels?
Whos the Musical Artist Songs you use?...I likes!
FOR A SMALL FEE OR CAR WORK ILL COME UP AND CARRY THE CAMRA FOR YOU HAHAHAHAHAHAH LET YOU DO FAB WORK ON MY 2006 SCION XB TO GET IT ALL WAY DOWN ON GROUND
Could have made it lower to grind onto 🚲
WHY CANT YOU USE THAT RAILING TO STORE LONG METAL STOCK??????????????? BUILD UP AND MORE SUPPORT......
