The Y's series is probably one of the most criminally under recognized games of all time, at least in the west. While it may not be the most progressive of game series in terms of game play, it's hard to argue that the soundtracks are perhaps some of the most phenomenal in game history, rivaling even those of the legendary Nobuo Uematsu. Listen to the remake of Y's 3: Oath in Felghana OST and tell me it's not one of the greatest things you've ever heard in your life.
15:45 Fun fact. That voice is by Lawrence Sampson, otherwise known as MasakoX, who is better known in the internet world as the voice of Goku in the megahit Dragon Ball Z Abridged. I think it's really awesome someone did this dub and kind of wish he'd tackle more Japanese RPGs (or any Japanese CD games for that matter) that deserve such a treatment.
Ys 3 on the master system was one of my favourite games for the longest time. Seeing it again really brings it all back. I've been on a Game Sack binge for about a week now and have steadily worked my way through all of the episodes. Thanks so much for doing these episodes, I hope there are more to come for a long time.
Hey Joe, thanks for the honorable mention and that was also pretty cool that you got HappyConsoleGamer to join in on this! Surprisingly, I actually learned something new about Ys from this: Thomas H. Church who voiced the character of Goban Tobah, is one in the same as Thomas Haden Church, the now well-known/famous movie actor (SpiderMan 3's "Sandman")!! I never realized just how well-funded the "Ys Book I&II" dub was and no wonder it holds up so well even today. I only ever knew of Alan Oppenheimer, the well-known TV voice-actor of the time, because of how much his name would get dropped, but yeah, this was news to me!
Yeah! Did I not mention Thomas Haden Church? If not, I meant to. I may have in our TurboGrafx episode. And of course Alan Oppenheimer. Oh! And the guy who voices Luta Gemma is Bumblebee in the original Transformers and I think voiced Spider-Man in a cartoon that preceded TF. It's too bad they didn't have the same VO funding for Ys 3.
Game Sack Yeah, that's what I was saying, I learned something new about Ys from your episode! I never knew who any of the actors were really when I beat the game and saw the Credits roll (of course, I never paid too much attention to that when I was young), and never made the connection to Thomas H. Church to the actor that I now know. But yeah, that's pretty cool. I'll have to play the game again some time and pay attention to his voice to see how recognizable it is.
And after ALL of these years, i've never realized up until this video that Johnny isn't sitting at a table, he's sitting on the floor with a tiny table. Mind = blown.
Dave and Joe, I really enjoy your videos at Game Sack. You edit your videos really nicely, your videos are really professionally. The transitions, the backgrounds, the green screens, stop motion, the music and everything. One of the hidden gems on the UA-cam Community. And you have a really nice setup guys.
This episode was great. Never paid much attention to the Y's series of games but you convinced me to get into it. It's hard since it's spread over so many systems. Thanks for your hard work! Game Sack has some of the highest production values on UA-cam.
I'm really really happy you almost triplicate your subscribers in the past 6 months! :D Congrats and cheers to more subscribers and recognition for your fine work, guys!
Man, you guys are the best. So chill, so professional. I'm currently listening to you guys while playing Mortal Kombat 9 with the sound off and it's the most relaxing experience ever. Keep up the good work, I love your show.
Two of my favorite game reviewers in 1 video, WOW! Thanks, Hope you will all continue doing these videos until we grow old. Videogames are really a universal language that we can share whatever race, religion, philosophies, sex or preference we have. Good health and prosperous career for both GAMESACK and HCG!
Thanks guys for talking about this series, it doesn't get as much love as other RPG franchises. Ys on the SMS was the first RPG i ever played when my dad took my NES to play swords and serpents with his friend, so its always very nostalgic for me to see or play it.
XSEED simply translates the games and makes sure they work on our consoles (if region lock is applicable). XSEED is awesome for doing this, but they don't actually have a hand in making the games at all. I'm just going to throw this out there.
Well, i just started to dive into the series (with Origin) and i have to say, i instantly understood the fandoms passion for this series. As simplistic as the games themselves are, they ooze with charme and love. But seriously Game Sack, if youre willing to buy a PSP / Vita for Ys releases, do yourselves a favor and invest in a cheap (maybe used) laptop that meats the recommended hardware requirements (and those are anything but high) and play Origin. Its been ages since i got hooked by a game this much. And with the definitive versions of Ys 1,2 and 3 available, you owe it to yourselves ;)
Yup, Origin, Chronicles+ and Felghana ;) And if the rumors are true, XEED is working on bringing the original windows version of Napishtim to steam and touch it up for modern systems.
I'd love to see that and Ys Seven make their way to Steam. Seven is probably my all-time favorite up to this point. Origin a VERY close second. Look me up on Steam, I have the same avatar there, in case there's another Nerd House....but I think I'm the only one.
NerdHouse To be fair, Seven isnt really in need of a remake. But Napishtim had a pretty botched PSP port and the PS2 port, although quite competently done, doesnt quite have the same charme as the original. But its farm from being bad really, though id prefer the Windows version with its spirte characters and all that :) But as it stands, we have a pretty competent version of any Ys title available in english in pretty much every region. The only one missing is 5, which Falcom is currently working on (Vita and PS4) as rumor has it. My Steam handle is einherjarzx (man, i hate that stupid zx suffix :P) Though i have to say that i rarely use it for anything but purchase and launch games ;)
I didn't say I wanted a remake. "I'd like to see it on Steam" = port. Being able to play Ys Seven (my favorite of the series) on PC/Steam would be awesome since my PSP no longer holds a charge, and I don't want to keep buying batteries for it.
Kinda bugging me that you either didn't do the research, or simply didn't care, but the versions of Ys I & II on DS and PSP were ports of the Windows version that came out in 2001, called Ys I & II Complete. Also, after talking about the PS2 Taito version of Ys III you started talking about Oath in Felghana, and how it "was eventually remade" which sounds very silly when both Oath in Felghana and the Taito version of Ys III came out the same year, 2005. Similarly, you didn't mention that Ark of Napishtim was originally released in 2003, and not by Konami. Konami only handled the PS2 and PSP ports. Heck, it even displays the proper year in the title screen of most of these games. Maybe it's nitpicking, but it still bugs me. Still, I love the Ys games and it's still a good retrospective of the series. And it seems you haven't done a full save game transfer from Golden Sun 1 to Golden Sun 2 without a link cable. If you thought those passwords were bad, try a password that's 260 characters long! You'll weep!
Some of that is nitpicking, yes. As for the Ys 3 thing Oath of Felghana is a remake. Doesn't really matter when it came out. I chose to group all of the "standard" Ys 3 versions together before moving on to Felghana.
Jeremy Krazyman what are you talking about different story? it's the same basic story just expanded and yes it's technically a remake and if you don't agree go take it up with the company who made it Falcom who put it down as a remake or re-imagining of Wanders of Ys. Remakes don't have to be the exact same thing as the original just with newer graphics
Jeremy Krazyman Because of course, old age naturally leads to being more knowledgeable. Whether you like it or not, it's a remake. The people who created the actual game have stated it's a remake.
Jeremy Krazyman First of all: Learn english. Thank you. Do you know the difference between remake and remaster? No. What you demand is a remaster. As in the same game just prettier. What we got was a remake. The same concept with everything changed the developers deemed bad, uninteresting or just plain stupid. So the sidescrolling elements were cut for a rather familiar approach. Stuff was added (as in characters and quests) to expand on what was already there. I've been gaming since 1998 only yet i know more about it than you do...interesting how age doesn't define intelligence
Jeremy Krazyman interestingly enough you are CLEARLY lying. You first stated being gaming since 1979 which is more than enough of a lie. Also your raging shows all the more that you don't know what you are talking about. Also a Reboot is once again something COMPLETELY different. A reboot takes the characters and revamps their whole story. Get your facts straight dipshit here just slight proof that you are clearly lying puu.sh/hQHdX/7a38fd7b3c.png puu.sh/hQHf7/588778a693.png
You don't emphasize enough the one thing that unites the series and makes the overarching story into a united and cohesive whole, and makes Adol into a compelling, relatable hero. Without this, you're missing Adol's entire personality and character arc. ADOL HAS RED HAIR
retrodark gamer I didn't even know about emulation at the time and it's a good thing I didn't. This game is well worth that price. I would even go as far to say that they ripped themselves off.
retrodark gamer I guarantee that I'm more "retro" than you think. I play more older games than I do newer ones. I use emulators now to play Atari, ZX, Commodore, NES, Intellivision, all SEGA's systems including their first SG-1000 console, all of Nintendo's stuff, Turbografx or Pc Engine, CD, Supergrafx, Turbo Duo,... I literally know about every game console there is and I own a good chunk of titles for each, physical and rom. I was born in 1996 and the only games I could afford in my family were older ones which usually cost less. I eventually got on board with the new but there's always something from the past that I want to explore. When times were much more limited in terms of tech. I know much more about retro than you probably. You may know more about the experience from living during that time but I've gone as deep as I could go.
retrodark gamer Don't really care about complete box sets, I just want the game in decent shape. Kinda like the Angry Video Game Nerd. As for Hagane, I've emulated it but I don't have a urge to buy it. To put it loosely, I'm kind of a game encyclopedia. It's something that I love to read, play, etc. And you know most web browsers have "spell check" right?
You can buy book 1&2, oath of felghana, ark of nephistim, 7, and 8 on steam. Make sure you're steam account has ps4 controller as the default control scheme assuming you're using a ps4 controller. Even then I think I needed to go into the game settings outside of the game.
When he first mispronounced Ys I was like, "oh shit Johnny would be all over this guy." Low and behold he was in the video lol and that Game Chasers reference at the end was hilarious!
Hi guys, over the past month or so I've watched all of your videos in order. I absolutely love what you're doing. Big fan, hope you guys can do these videos for a living one day. Maybe that's not your goal, but it would be nice. I love Dave's dry delivery-- you two make me laugh. Keep up the good work.
Ys Books I & II for the Turbografx (I had the Turboduo) is easily my favorite game of all time. The action, music, and even the story (while minimal in the first book was front and center in the second) were just top notch for the time. And I still remember the day my dad and I visited Electronics Boutique and it was on the shelf. I didn't even have to beg (luckily my dad was an RPG gamer, we tackled Phantasy Star II together), we got the game and I believe I played it all night long. It was just...awesome. What I wouldn't give to feel that way about a game again.
Guys, how did you know that I needed information on this series? And you showed so many games! Wonderful, thanks! Been looking to get my hands on Ys Seven for forever. Eventually I will... Good to see that all the PSP Ys games are good. I know I'll play them sooner or later. And you just boosted my desire to get a PC Engine. Jeez!
Ys V did finally have a fan translation done a couple years after this video was posted. You can find it by searching - Ys V: Kefin, Lost Kingdom of Sand [T-Eng by Aeon Genesis v1.00]
The TG-16 version was my intro to the series. I used to crank the sound through my stereo. I honestly don't think I've ever been blown away by any other game before or after.
Great video, guys! Ys: Book I & II for the Turbo Grafx CD-ROM is not only my favorite game of all-time, but my favorite soundtrack ever as well (beating out Out Run because or many more tracks). I just subscribed to you guys. Hope I can one day have a Channel with even a 10th of as much success as yours!
yeah, it's Eeees, イース... sounds like "ease". Never a big fan of RPG, but Ys and Tale, The legend of heroes, shining are the only four series I enjoy the most. btw, my favorite title of Ys series is Ys Origin.
Man. You guys and Johnny are the reasons WHY I want to do game reviews! Since I have most of the Ys series, including Ys Origins, I will be doing more episodes involving the Ys titles!
Game Sack It does play further in quality 240p but without any sound at all. On any other quality settings it just freezes. I watched all the episodes from the beginning to Ys episode without any problems at all. May be this problem appears only in Russia. Duh... Thank you for the Game Sack!
Anatoly Rip Well the video doesn't exist on a single server. Different servers serve different countries. It's possible that this one got a glitch when it migrated from server to server in Russia.
My only question... how long does it take to make a sandwich?? Lol anyway, thank you, you guys actually pronounced Napishtim right!! The name sounds Babylonian, like the character Utnapishtim from the Epic of Gilgamesh. I'm sure that's where they got it. Utnapishtim is basically the Babylonian Noah, so the Ark connection makes sense too
Actually the steam and psp versions are rereleases of the early 2000's pc versions, same goes for Ys6 which started on pc, for some reason konami altered the ps2 conversion by using polygon characters and cutscenes that don't belong or fit.
Happy Console Gamer!!! Love a good crossover of some good people that I follow :) You guys are great and can tell would be really cool to hang out with! Keep up the good work!
I don't understand why the PC games like the YS 1+2 port or YS Origins don't get mentioned. Seems to be obligatory for retro gaming channels to rigorously avoid PC games and I just don't understand why. There's almost nothing on youtube where Retro PC games even get mentioned. kinda odd, especially with the popularity of GOG.
I can't speak for everyone's channel but in our case it's because we don't have PCs which will run games like Ys 1 & 2. I also am not much interested in gaming on a PC. If I could just boot it up into a library of games without having to worry about drivers, compatible hardware and all of that stuff I might be more interested.
Game Sack Well, steam makes things a lot easier. You just start up the client and there you have your library. Building a good gaming PC/picking parts for it is also much easier but unfortunately it's still more of a thing for tinkerers and I see that newcomers can get a bit overwhelmed. But if you have a good system running, maintenance is much easier these days - driver updates happen completely automatic most of the times, for example. Generally you don't have to do much once everything is up and running. If you ever get interested in getting a gaming PC just give me a shout. I know my stuff in that regard and it's always fun for me to give advice or help with anything related.
Game Sack I agree that not having a pc is an okay reason, but they should still be mentioned, especially as the pc versions of Ys 1+2 and Ys Origin are some of the best games in the series. Not showing them is fine, but failing to even mention them is also bad.
lmao, i love game sac channel, watched all their videos and every one that comes out.... multiple times, i find your comment towards me comical, you obviously have no experience with the term "sarcasm" I would suggest googling it and reading up on the definition of the word. at any rate you are obviously a troll, there can't be any possible way you are so out of touch with human communication that you TRULY believe I think they stole the games. have an awesome day trolling people, friend ;)
i mean seriously, read my comment again "lol now we know how game sack acquired their entire collection =P" I start it of with an 'lol' and end it with a 'P=' nobody else jumped all over my comment like you did cause they ALL... EVERYBODY, knew i was joking... But seriously, think before you post comments.
That's right you don't. It wasn't an order, merely a friendly suggestion, if you wish to post comments that make you look foolish and ignorant, that is totally your prerogative and NO ONE can tell you differently. Have an awesome day friend =D
"This is the definitive version (SegaCD) of Ys I and II that everyone should enjoy." In my opinion it is the "Ys I & II Chronicles+" version for WIndows that was released about 4 months before this video was published. To date, this is still the definitive version of the first 2 games, and afaik most games in the series are foremost computer RPG's anyway, the console ports come afterward. They have since released I and II again for mobile phones, but they go back to being based on the PSP port, not Chronicles+.
Oh, but there is an English translation for Ys V, Dave! I know you probably don't care, but for anyone that does... www.romhacking.net/translations/2060/ (Yay, UA-cam finally allows you to post links in comment boxes!) The only experience I have with Ys is when I rented 6 for the PS2 years ago. I remember it was pretty fun, but I didn't get very far and I don't recall the reason why. It sure looks like an awesome series, though! I do love action RPG's. I'll have to try some of these.
Iliek I actually did, but I think I was so drunk at the time I wasn't hearing them correctly. I watched it again and it seems they are pronouncing it correctly. What's strange is in my drunken memories I still remember them calling it, at least once, "ease" (eez). Still a valid PSA, though.
Awww, no mention of the Ys games on Steam? I know digital PC gaming isn't usually your thing, but Ys Origin is a damned fine game, and it's readily available in English, you know! Also, hi! Tom from XSEED here. Thanks for covering the series, and mentioning our releases. I'm glad you both enjoyed them, and I look forward to hearing what you guys think of Celceta! FYI, though, September is unlikely to happen for it -- that's an unofficial placeholder release date. It'll probably be later. Sorry!
Holy crap! You brought back some awesome memories of when I owned a TG16CD! I had Ys Books I & II and LOVED that game! I think I logged around 500 hours playing it over and over again back in the day. Thanks for showing the world just how superior that version of the game was compared to the other systems! :) This episode was the clinching one for my sub, dudes :) Now to check out the rest of your vids and to see if I can't get some of these gems back! ;)
Amazing video. Thank you so much. I plan on watching this multiple times as it really helps with finding definitive versions and I’m not great at memorization. Thanks a ton.
Less than a dozen strong?, wow, hard to believe that you do so much with such a small number of people. Thank you so much for bringing so many games from Japan.
Great episode guys! Thank you Johnny Millenium for the awesome cameo! Without the Ys games I don't think the Turbografx/PC Engine would be nearly as highly regarded as it is. I am grateful for its presence on that platform. Best soundtrack in all of gaming. -mathius
As of now all the Ys games (Aside from V which nobody cares about) are available on steam on some shape or form. Thanks to people like you and happy console gamer for keeping interest in such a niche series alive.
Ys and Rance need a crossover
*sighs in Grandia*
I actually like the original 16 bit Ys 3 music over Felghana's but both are really really good.
@@maxxdahl6062 same.
Pretty happy to see Johnny show up and even a nod towards The Game Chasers, very cool stuff :D
That ending is Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.
You are Corny. Corny. Corny.
ignore that toxic person metal! we love your work and i'm glad you enjoyed the series!!!
love ya man

Ys 5 translation patch has been released today by Aeon Genesis, in case anyone is interested about it
And after ALL of these years, i've never realized up until this video that Johnny isn't sitting at a table, he's sitting on the floor with a tiny table.
Mind = blown.
Steam and GOG now has most of these games available. Bought them all recently on sale.
Every Game Sack episode is awesome and special but this one is my favorite. I must have seen this one 300 times!
My Favorite so far would honestly be Ys Origins, it's actually a great one to start with if you're ATTEMPTING to follow the overall story of Ys.
"I'm going to go make a chicken sandwich" lmao
Made me laugh
watched this in 2019, this should be re-visited
i just commented the same thing. Lots of things to add and change.
Dave and Joe, I really enjoy your videos at Game Sack. You edit your videos really nicely, your videos are really professionally. I pronounce it "Yiss" because that's what I exclaim after every successful boss fight.
Y's Origins is amazing. I have it on the PC and bought it off Steam. Best music, a few different characters. Love it.
*Ys
*Origin
ttomato182 I used to play that alot. Loved that game.
Wow. What a fantastic crossover episode. Such a good sport is Mr Millenium
@ Game Sack
This episode deserves a revisit as much has happened to the Ys series since 2013.
I believe YS V does have a translation now (I think it is finished )
Man, I love how thorough you guys are. I don't think I know anyone who has such a keen attention to detail. I love it!
Actually it's more like EEEEEEEss
Just bought Ys VIII. My first Ys game and I must say I wish I discovered this earlier.
Send us an MSX and we'll include them!
This episode was great. Never paid much attention to the Y's series of games but you convinced me to get into it. It's hard since it's spread over so many systems.
Thanks for your hard work! Game Sack has some of the highest production values on UA-cam.
Just realized that you guys didn't cover Ys Origins on Steam. Another good Ys game, though it feels out of place imo.
+Jimmy Patrick They don't cover PC gaming, only console.
This video helped me a ton now I want to play the entire Ys Franchise. Ever since I beat Lacrimosa of Dana I have been hooked
Happy console gamer looked happy when he was trying to be angry.
I'm really really happy you almost triplicate your subscribers in the past 6 months! :D Congrats and cheers to more subscribers and recognition for your fine work, guys!
I think this video could use an update.
Man, you guys are the best. So chill, so professional. I'm currently listening to you guys while playing Mortal Kombat 9 with the sound off and it's the most relaxing experience ever. Keep up the good work, I love your show.
Watching Game Sack makes my game sack tingle. Oh and I loved the end. Maybe a Game Sack and Game Chasers game chising episode, maybe? Maybe.....
Two of my favorite game reviewers in 1 video, WOW! Thanks, Hope you will all continue doing these videos until we grow old. Please do The Legend of Heroes.
I think the problem there is the 500 hours or whatever to play them!
That montage you made for the Turbo versions of Ys 1 and 2 is just amazing. I often come back to this video just to watch it.
XSEED simply translates the games and makes sure they work on our consoles (if region lock is applicable). XSEED is awesome for doing this, but they don't actually have a hand in making the games at all. I'm just going to throw this out there.

Get your facts straight dipshit
here just slight proof that you are clearly lying

Originals for first three Ys came first on PC88, not on Turbografx!
I feel like i'm the only one who prefers original PC88 versions of these games...
+Кейли Тамирианская Same here. They also used the Master System port of Ys I which lacks the FM sound of the JP Mark III port.
You don't emphasize enough the one thing that unites the series and makes the overarching story into a united and cohesive whole, and makes Adol into a compelling, relatable hero.
Without this, you're missing Adol's entire personality and character arc.
ADOL HAS RED HAIR
Ys 1+2 on Wii VC was the best 6$ I've ever spent.
retrodark gamer I didn't even know about emulation at the time and it's a good thing I didn't. This game is well worth that price. I would even go as far to say that they ripped themselves off.
retrodark gamer
I guarantee that I'm more "retro" than you think. You may know more about the experience from living during that time but I've gone as deep as I could go.
retrodark gamer
Don't really care about complete box sets, I just want the game in decent shape. Kinda like the Angry Video Game Nerd. As for Hagane, I've emulated it but I don't have a urge to buy it. To put it loosely, I'm kind of a game encyclopedia. It's something that I love to read, play, etc. And you know most web browsers have "spell check" right?
still have it downloaded on the wii channel on my wii u back at home. Love it. While away, I have Ys 8, and it is also, very awesome.
You can buy book 1&2, oath of felghana, ark of nephistim, 7, and 8 on steam. Make sure you're steam account has ps4 controller as the default control scheme assuming you're using a ps4 controller. Even then I think I needed to go into the game settings outside of the game.
No, Ys originated on an NEC computer.
It's because of this episode that I got Ys off the Wii Virtual Console.
"just happy to be alive" why does that crack me up so much?
When he first mispronounced Ys I was like, "oh shit Johnny would be all over this guy." Low and behold he was in the video lol and that Game Chasers reference at the end was hilarious!
Hi guys, over the past month or so I've watched all of your videos in order. I absolutely love what you're doing. Big fan, hope you guys can do these videos for a living one day. Maybe that's not your goal, but it would be nice. I love Dave's dry delivery-- you two make me laugh. Keep up the good work.
thanks, i really enjoyed your sack today
Ys Books I & II for the Turbografx (I had the Turboduo) is easily my favorite game of all time. The action, music, and even the story (while minimal in the first book was front and center in the second) were just top notch for the time. And I still remember the day my dad and I visited Electronics Boutique and it was on the shelf. I didn't even have to beg (luckily my dad was an RPG gamer, we tackled Phantasy Star II together), we got the game and I believe I played it all night long. It was just...awesome. What I wouldn't give to feel that way about a game again.
No mention of Ys Origin?
And did Johnny get back to you guys LOL.
Jeez!
HELP ME !!!! I CAN'T STOP WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS !! HELP MEEEEE !!!!!!
awww chicken chaser
I'm on my third loop. Someone, please get help!
Ys V did finally have a fan translation done a couple years after this video was posted. You can find it by searching - Ys V: Kefin, Lost Kingdom of Sand [T-Eng by Aeon Genesis v1.00]
"Well if it isn't Game Sack!"
Covering the Ys series? You guys rock. Thank you.
HappyConsoleGamer love the collaboration with Game Sack. :)
This is one of the best episodes from all the gaming shows on youtube, well done GameSack, well done!!
I love chicken sandwich, spicy.
My favorite JRPG next to Phantasy Star.
The TG-16 version was my intro to the series. I used to crank the sound through my stereo. I honestly don't think I've ever been blown away by any other game before or after.
Jeremy Krazyman your forgetting shin megami tensei sakura wars and pokemon also dragon quest just to name a few goid rpgs and some srpgs
Jeremy Krazyman im glad other people think of growlanser. such a good series. shouldnt have went away.
It's pronounced "EEES!" dangit!
Loved the cameo by Happy Console Gamer and The Game Chasers reference.
yeah, it's Eeees, イース... sounds like "ease".
Never a big fan of RPG, but Ys and Tale, The legend of heroes, shining are the only four series I enjoy the most.
btw, my favorite title of Ys series is Ys Origin.
Man. You guys and Johnny are the reasons WHY I want to do game reviews! Since I have most of the Ys series, including Ys Origins, I will be doing more episodes involving the Ys titles!
it's Eese a long ee kind sound like geese without the Letter G at beginning
This video has a recently turned me on to this fantastic series. Thanks guys!
The video freezes at 12.41 may be it's corrupted?
Works well here.
Game Sack It does play further in quality 240p but without any sound at all. On any other quality settings it just freezes. I watched all the episodes from the beginning to Ys episode without any problems at all. May be this problem appears only in Russia. Duh...
Thank you for the Game Sack!
Anatoly Rip
Well the video doesn't exist on a single server. Different servers serve different countries. It's possible that this one got a glitch when it migrated from server to server in Russia.
For some reason, I always love to re-watch this video, something about it always draws me back
My only question... how long does it take to make a sandwich?? Lol anyway, thank you, you guys actually pronounced Napishtim right!! The name sounds Babylonian, like the character Utnapishtim from the Epic of Gilgamesh. I'm sure that's where they got it. Utnapishtim is basically the Babylonian Noah, so the Ark connection makes sense too
Loved the cameo by HappyConsoleGamer. Now I wish I had a TurboGrafx-CD.
Got the first 2 off of Steam, so far it seems like an upscaled version of the PSP version. It's really fun!
Actually the steam and psp versions are rereleases of the early 2000's pc versions, same goes for Ys6 which started on pc, for some reason konami altered the ps2 conversion by using polygon characters and cutscenes that don't belong or fit.
+L2Nuku like how the FF7 and FF8 rereleases for Steam, and FF7 for the PS4, were rereleases of their PC ports from like 18 years ago?
+Dennis Forstner yes, exactly
Oath in Felghana is my favorite, you wanna fight bro?
Game Sack
Well, steam makes things a lot easier.
Game Sack
A lame excuse
LionShard
It's a lame excuse that I don't have a device to play the game on nor any intention of buying one? Whatever you say, man.
Game Sack I agree that not having a pc is an okay reason, but they should still be mentioned, especially as the pc versions of Ys 1+2 and Ys Origin are some of the best games in the series. Not showing them is fine, but failing to even mention them is also bad.
Your video's just keep getting better. Awesome job guys. Watching your video's has really peaked my interest in retro games.
lol now we know how game sack acquired their entire collection =P
lmao, i love game sac channel, watched all their videos and every one that comes out.... multiple times, i find your comment towards me comical, you obviously have no experience with the term "sarcasm" I would suggest googling it and reading up on the definition of the word. at any rate you are obviously a troll, there can't be any possible way you are so out of touch with human communication that you TRULY believe I think they stole the games. have an awesome day trolling people, friend ;)
i mean seriously, read my comment again "lol now we know how game sack acquired their entire collection =P" I start it of with an 'lol' and end it with a 'P=' nobody else jumped all over my comment like you did cause they ALL...
"This is the definitive version (SegaCD) of Ys I and II that everyone should enjoy."
In my opinion it is the "Ys I & II Chronicles+" version for WIndows that was released about 4 months before this video was published.
I know you probably don't care, but for anyone that does...
www.romhacking.net/translations/2060/ (Yay, UA-cam finally allows you to post links in comment boxes!)
The only experience I have with Ys is when I rented 6 for the PS2 years ago. I remember it was pretty fun, but I didn't get very far and I don't recall the reason why. It sure looks like an awesome series, though! I do love action RPG's. I'll have to try some of these.
I just beat it today with my brother, great (and very underrated) installment in the series!
That ending was awesome, keep putting up great episodes like this and you will give classic game room a run for it's money.
It's pronounced "ee soo (ysu)" or "ee s". It it not "eez" or "ease". Adol is pronounced "ah do roo", "ah doll", more more commonly "aye doll".
Eight Virtues I came here to say the same thing. It's not "Why's" its "yees"
Eight Virtues Andrew Leavitt Did either of you watch more than 30 seconds before commenting on this video?
Sorry!
Ys is pronounced Arr-Key-Us
+awelcruiz Which is weird, as it's spelled "Raymond Luxury Yacht".
Fantastic episode as always!
Looked forward to coming home after work to watch your episode and I was not disappointed!
Johnny making a chicken sandwich is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen
That face of Johnny's as he's holding his camera.. friggin' hillarious.
Nice reviews guys, this series definitely needs more recognition. By far one of my favorite RPG series next to Final Fantasy.
Awesome series to show off! Every time I start to miss some GameSack you guys finally post a vid. ;D
Maybe. Well obviously we would if you were ever near the area. Back seat might be crowded (but fun) with Dave, myself and Melvor all back there.
This is still one of my favorite episodes.
That HappyConsoleGamer cameo is pretty funny. LOL
9 years passed, Ys 5 still not remade
Johnny and a game chasers reference in one episode. Awesome.
You should revisit this now with the new games up to Ys IX. This Series deserve love.
Just bought Ys VIII and it was the kind of game I was looking for.
Less than a dozen strong?, wow, hard to believe that you do so much with such a small number of people. Thank you so much for bringing so many games from Japan.
What an awesome cameo! Great show guys!
