I literally just finished watching the previous video and was about to comment how much I need to see that smoke mod... lo and behold here it is!! This thing rocks.
Majestic smoke effects. Your board is just unreal. I recently started using sponges to stipple on layers of paint for my terrain. Or rather a mixture of sponges and brush stippling. The sponges not only avoid brush strokes, which I dislike in flat panels, but also create a nice texture when applied over successive layers. They make for good paint chipping effects, especially into the recesses where the sponge doesn't reach.
While this is less about "better terrain" and more about adding a layer of special effects beneath the terrain - I do appreciate the lovely wall/door sets and definitely has inspired me to do something similar for a modular lighting/effects template! Appreciate the video!
Cheers, if you take a look at the original board before I added all the bits you might agree this is better plus I love the idea of the board being made up with several different spaceship interiors 🙂
I like the Tau terrain; very unusual. The stippling really looks great on the walls and floors. Stippling with a bit of torn off sponge could speed up covering large areas. Is the smoke chemical?
Fantastic results! Love the mesh of two different styles of ship corridors like you say. I think it would be cool though if they had some kind of twisted/mangled connector walls, as space hulks aren't typically multiple races ships intentionally welded together, they're thrown together by brute force & weird Warp magiks. I'm off to check out the Kickstarter!
Cheers, must admit I did think about merging some of the walls and pillars together to get that fused look between walls, I think I may have to print out a few bits to see how that looks 🙂
I’m building a full size board out of their sector templaris stuff and now I’m going to buy these smoke machines to make it have that extra gothic vibe. Thanks for the videos man you do great work!
I was painting my Chaos Knight with this video on and I had a thought. What would a Knight look like if Orks captured it and used it in their arsenal? How much more dakka could they add to a knight chassis? Ever thought about that for a kit bash?
You do realize these are just fancier magnetic tiles like the ones you buy for kids, right? I bring this up because magnetic tiles are a cheap, easy way to try out gaming. You can build all kinds of custom maps with them and see how you like it. If you enjoy it,then you can invest more. If you don't,you're only out maybe 40-60 dollars and you can resell them and get at least some of your money back. I'm all about gaming on the cheap. Still, this is a really nice board. I can easily see doing a "version 2" after this, taking what you've learned and applying it for a nicer, more finished look. Keep up the great work.
@@MiniatureHobbyist surely an almighty one. Dude,i follow you on youtube for some time, and in my opinion you're pretty good in scratching and building, with waste material too.
Awesome video, glad your trying some new stuff, did someone say dreamscilcile, lol! Smoking is bad for you! Recently bashed a battered sentry bot together for FOWW (the fallout board game) and I'm trying to think how to paint it, because it may suffer from bad plastic as the body is from a kinder egg.
it reduces the peeling force during the printing process, (so models dont end up sticking to your resin tank and pulled off the built plate during printing) and can reduce layer lines more. it does increase printing time and resin used (due to supports being printed) but most gladly sacrifice that for succesfull pretty prints :)
Upgrade your kill zone board with these awesome space ship interiors - bit.ly/3U0qmm1 🙂
those honeycomb doors would look great in clear green resin, with a black wash, making them look like a force feild
What kind of magnets did you use
Also what tools did u use for the magnet
@@Caddy666 They certainly would, might do that next time 🙂
@@charlesramirez6419 They are 3mmx2mm 🙂

Cheers for the tips, I will be doing a lot more stippling as love the results it gives 🙂
Love your work. I've almost finished printing the set of necron themed walls and pillars from the same kickstarter - is looking great.
glad you like my Costronica Smoke Machines, it turned out very awesome in your work!
Its an awesome bit of kit you have made and I will be using it all the time lol 🙂
I bought the Fabricator's Lair Greater Good Spaceship a week ago, and plan to have a go at this, but Boarding Actions sized.
Btw, with the stippling, if you use less paint on the brush and do more layers, you’ll get a much more convincing result, but looks great so far!
Cheers, I will be doing it more as love the result 🙂
Those greater good doors would look awesome in a translucent resin. Force field doors anyone?

Yeah I love how they both look and cant wait to see the 3rd spaceship they make. The smoke is from a vape machine and has no smell 🙂
I supported his sector imperialis kickstarter and jumped on this one as soon as he launched it. I’m stoked

Wow that just looks cool! and that smoke spreader would look really good in a diorama scene.
Cheers, yeah that smoke spreader is just awesome 🙂

That would have a lot of room for some beefy weapons, maybe one day 🙂
Looks absolut Awesome!!!
Great paintjob!!!
Thank you so much 🙂
Awesome video Jon

Looks ideal for board patrol
It certainly does 🙂
Yeah this set kinda has a tau feel in designs cool how it comes out in the end
I am very pleased with it and cant wait to add the third ship to my board 🙂
This looks effing sweet. I now want a 3D printer... Wife just vetoed that
Cheers bud, are rookie mistake asking, get one and just see if she notices it 🙂
So much better designed than the original gallowdark terrain! Do you know if they are compatible with the GW kit? If so, its an instant buy from me!
They are awesome and I would say they are as they are the right size/scale for the board and you do have the option of tabbed walls and parts 🙂
👍
Awesome board, got my like and sub!
Cheers Ric 🙂
A normal game of Killteam with Snoop Dog
Haha yup, with both smoke machines on you wont be able to see anything 🙂
Wow,you're a monster
Chapeau
Hopefully a nice monster, cheers 🙂

I do love the stippling effect now, nice and simple (just how I like it) but gives a great result, especially over large smooth areas 🙂
Any print nerd can explain to me why the walls are at an angle on the print bed?
it reduces the peeling force during the printing process, (so models dont end up sticking to your resin tank and pulled off the built plate during printing) and can reduce layer lines more.
it does increase printing time and resin used (due to supports being printed) but most gladly sacrifice that for succesfull pretty prints :)
