    Also a tip for doing magnets in the future, don't pull them off the stack when you put them in, just put a blob of glue in, insert the magnet off the end of the stack, then slide the rest off to the side and the one that was in the hole will stay in place. good way to keep your polarities proper too.

    • @ThKrY
      @ThKrY Рік тому +1

      Got to be careful if you drill too deep, you might be able to push two magnets inside. Dull hobby knife also works well - get the magnet off the stack on the work hobby knife tip and push it inside - will not matter if you get some glue on it also

    • @MiniatureHobbyist

      I had considered that, but these magnets are so small that even when I put a single drop of glue in the hole when I placed the magnet in the glue still came up and out and would have got possibly got glue on the next magnets and caused more problems lol 😛

      @@MiniatureHobbyist Put a small piece of paper between the magnet that is going into the hole and the rest of the stack of magnets. Put the glue in the hole, then put the single magnet into the hole. Hold the paper, and slide the magnet stack off. Then remove the paper. The paper keeps the stack of magnets clean of glue. If the paper gets glue on it, then you can throw it away.

    If you do want to keep your polarities in check, take a dowel or pencil and glue a magnet to each end. Make sure the polarities are lined up so one side points north and one side points south. Then paint one side of your new magnet tool and you'll always be able to check the polarity to make sure everything matches. I just did this with the rampart scenery, and it saved so much time and fiddliness.

    I just did two kill teams with magnetized arms for weapons, and I have to recommend the Wowstick drill pen. Perfect for 1.5mm magnets from the magnet baron. Don't go bigger, it'll be too big. Also magnet baron has polarizing tools that you can use to easily see which side is which, and can use to just stick the magnet in the hole with a hit of glue, wait a minute to dry, and then slide it off

    Nice board at the beginning.
    6:45 the bitz for the collumn halfs are separate because its very hard to properly add details on two faces 90° to each other in the mold. Thats also likely the reason why there are no half collumns with connectors on each side.

    @karlb6273 Рік тому

    Using rods instead of magnets is a great idea! However, the magnets and the slots both have their strengths and weaknesses… How about combining them? I would suggest sanding the connectors thinner to get a loose fit, then cutting a slot in the connectors for metal rods. Finally, you could put the magnets in the slots on the walls. That way, the slots will add the stability you usually lose by using magnets.

    How do matey sorry it's been a while since I last commented but all I can say is outstanding - a simple technique which can be used at all skill levels producing great results. One bit though is to try keeping magnets together when placing them in the holes that way you can keep the polarity the same (sorry a bad description) Anyway keep up the great content.

    Only thing I would have done differently was to keep one of the tabs in the walls so you'd have that tab to keep them true vertically every time. Probably would have saved you a magnet as well, but great work!

      @@MiniatureHobbyist I'm not talking straight as in a 90 degree between the walls but having them sit flush on the board without adjustment such as @16:50 since you're not connecting them at singular points but along a rod they can shift along.
