This reaction is PRICELESS. Seriously. If you're watching this, you probably already know the reason for my priceless reaction. At the time of filming I had NO IDEA what I was in for. Hint: #tears. If some of the artistic choices he made in this song aren't to your taste, just listen to one of the other versions.... or all of them. His ornamentation and some of the musical phrasing has changed through the years. The version that made him famous was from 2017, at the Chinese invitation only, competition for professional singers, Singer. Or listen to the 2017 version, and then the newest one, the MTV version recently released (it's still a live performance). Pick and choose... we all have our favorites. Just guessing, but he probably sings them slightly differently when he's doing only one song that night, as he did in Singer, or when he's doing a full 3-hour concert. Or maybe it's just his mood that day. Oh - and yes, he has a masters in classical vocals (as well as one in contemporary vocals and a third in composition. He's now working on his doctorate in composition.) He was offered an opera position, but declined. He sees his career direction as neoclassical/pop crossover.
He's so impressive that the much-admired composer/pianist Igor Krutoy came out of retirement to work with him.
Enjoy your journey down the Dimash rabbit-hole; I've been obsessing for a few months now, and haven't heard a bad performance yet. Some styles that are less to my taste, yes; but never a bad performance.

Dimash is not aa robot, he is human and he is searching and he shows us what he found ! He is a perfectionist knowing he is not perfect, he reveals his soul tu us so sincere and humble ! I've put the lyrics to SOS below so you can see why they affected you as they do so many. I'm sure you will want to watch this performance again. As you probably know, in opera, the foundation is on the story and the performance rest solely on that. It is the way Dimash approaches all of his work. They are not songs, they are treasure and art that he personally composes or rearranges if he is doing a cover. As a retired A&R, I would have swum the ocean for an artist this dedicated. I highly recommend you Ogni Pietra (Olimpico), tremendously powerful; and I recommend the fancam version, where his technique and dramatic performance is closely seen (the fancam does not have optimal sound but there is a version of it but with the sound of the official shot). Your love, an intensity show, a real interpretation masterclass; Sinful Passion, excellent, without words. Love is like a dream, a beautiful and emotional song (prepare the handkerchief). Ti amo cosi, a beautiful trio, and Ulisse, a beautiful duo (both operatic as Ogni Pietra). Mademoiselle Hyde, an enveloping dream. And Samaltau (Tokyo Jazz) very emotional folk song. There are many more, but these are to get you started.
I recommend you to see a translation of the lyrics in each one so you can appreciate how accurate each interpretation is.

Dimash has sung songs in approx. 12 different languages. He speaks his native Kazakh, fluent Russian, is learning Mandarin and English which is improving steadily, although I really love his 'Dinglish' and I'm personally quite happy where he is at with it now, just as it is. He is such a phenominal vocalist, fantastic performer and a sweet, funny, intelligent and humble guy. He is absolutely adored by millions of Dears (this is what he calls us as we are very dear to him) world wide.

I don't think this was the first time she heard the song, because she knew Dimash was going to lower his voice when she stopped the tape. Reactors who listen to S.O.S. the first time are always startled by the sudden drop in register.
