I'm Julia, a contemporary singing specialist based in Australia and in this video I will be reacting to Dimash Kudaibergen singing SOS on Chinese TV show I Am A Singer (歌手). This is my first time listening to Dimash (I know, apparently I have been living under a rock) so I hope you enjoy my react! If you did please like, subscribe and click the bell.
There is one part of the video where I go into a little detail about whistle notes. My off-hand comment was "ok, ok so uh, we just heard Dimash approach a whistle register, it's almost there but that's still really high for a male I wonder how high he can go in a pure whistle". If you aren't interested in that please skip forward to 6:47 to continue with the react. Also please forgive my drawings I am not THAT kind of arts graduate.... I just make, teach and coach the vocal noises :)

Dimash was completely unknown in China when he sang this his first song in the Chinese show "The Singer." The following morning his life changed when he got 600 Million hits on Weibo the Chinese Instagram. For the rest of the series he needed security guards because he had so many fans. After the show finished the Kasakhstan Government decided to sponsor his first solo concert in Bastau where 30,000 people from many different countries came to see him. He is now a Megastar in Kasakhstan, China and Russia, and has fans all over the world. Last December he sold-out the Barclays Center, New York 19,000. He is the only singer in the world who is able to sing Any style of music (Opera, Jazz, Folk, Rap etc) in any register (Baritone, Tenor, Contralto, Soprano) to Top Professional Standard. More Dimash
In reality, no one should react to anyone in the world but Dimash, but... As far as doing another song: read about him, learn about him, learn from him, understand that the most famous vocal couches do that, and use his techniques during their classes. He is - by far - the most professional singer in the world today, and the best without doubt. Everyone else is really in the dust; they can continue singing, knowing that it's just fill in the gaps when Dimash is not singing. Oh, and he NEVER struggles. Not once. Never a bad note, never a break in the voice. Good luck!
Dimash doesn't defy voice classification, he just ticks the last box that says "All of the above"
Btw and FYI; Dimash was offered a position at the Astana Opera (Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan), but, he decided to carve out his career in contemporary music, mixing classical elements and traditional Kazakh music with pop music

After this performance, next day when he woke up there was 600 million hits from Chinese viewers. Instant super star. He has a millions of fans around the world. His concerts are sold out very fast. New York City concert on December 10th 2019 at Barclays Center - Brooklyn was incredible, almost 3 hours with no intermission, just quick breaks for wardrobe change. Unforgettable night, once in life time. People from over 50 countries attended his concert. He blew the roof of the building. Sensational.

This is a song from a French Rock Opera in 1978 or 79. The original singer had a 4.5 octave range. Dimash at this point has a 6 octave 2 semi-tone range. He was 22 years old at the time and will be 26 on May 24, 2020.

My brother was a principal opera singer in Baz Luhrman’s La Boheme.ive watched a lot of opera and am classically trained in voice and flute.I am a complete novice and my brother is a scrub in comparison to what Dimash can do in one song, lol.....seriously, my family’s resume doesn’t even fit in Dimash’s pinky! the dude has continued to train since the age of 5, plays about 8 instruments, sings in 12 different languages, composes music himself and collaborates with Igor Krutoy,for example, the Russian opera award winner-‘Ogni Pietra’/‘Olympico’ (in Italian), the gothic Italian masterpiece ‘Passione’, ‘Vocalise’-‘Know’, ‘Love is like a Dream’ (Russian), Ti Amo Cosi (Italian) where he sings in bass/baritone to Aida Garifullina’s soprano and Lara Fabian’s crystal clear pop tones. When he was about 15 he composed ‘Unforgettable Day’ ? Sung In Kazakh. At Gakku he sang it and he hits a sustained D8 with vibrato! He’s a vocal god! I’ve got almost perfect pitch and he is always pitch perfect.....HOW? He seems to thrive the larger the audience and the higher the stakes live. Amazing 25 year old man. Throw alll the superlatives you can think of at him. He is the absolute, perfect complete package.
Plus he is a truly humble and nice person....listen to some more and you will be surprised each time!!

He was a total unknown at the first episode of this professional competition in China. By the second show, he needed bodyguards. This was done at age 22, although he has been performing since age 5. Now at age 26 his works are amazing! Simply the best!
I remember seeing in an interview that he fought hard to keep the ability to reach high notes because it allowed him to have more interaction with female singers as a teenager. Well played, sir... Well played.

Big Dimash fan here and I've seen every video and heard every song. He is by far the BEST SINGER in the world, BUT, why have we not heard from all those famous American singers and artists? Not one has stepped up and said anything. I believe It's for several reasons, jealousy, fear and they know if Dimash is recognized as the best singer/vocalist in the world it affects their bottom line. Pure and simple American greed and jealousy. Great video BTW.

We have been ill with Dimashemania for 3 years! ))) A little about Dimash: - he is from Kazakhstan and he will be 26 years old in 24May - engaged in vocals since 5 years - its range is 6 octaves and 5 half tones (A1-D8) - performs in the style of: classic crossover, neoclassic, rock, pop, opera, rap ... - singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist - sings in Kazakh, Russian, English, Chinese, French, Italian, Ukrainian, Serbian and other languages - gained wide fame in the world after the first round of the Chinese project "I am a singer" in 2017. He was invited to the project as an experiment, as a foreign contestant. On the project he took 2nd place (the Chinese simply could not give 1 place to a non-Chinese contestant). - in the fall of 2019 he gave a three-hour recital at NY Barclay Center - the first and so far the only album went platinum in 37 seconds. And in an hour tal thrice platinum! ..

Hello Julia..... thanks for reacting to Dimash ... he is an incredible artist ... he is not an amateur, he has been prepared since he was 5 years old with music teachers he has two university degrees in singing and music and the public is 500 people it's the judges ... they cast the votes ... and the people who say "wuau" and who are backstage are their competitors ... all established artists in China with years of experience ... Dimash went to The Voice China when he was 22 years old, in 2017 ... and he was the youngest competitor and the only foreigner ... as you can see his comments are sincere and not part of a television show

I've been a die hard fan since 2017 but to me it seems like Dimash struggles with his high notes now I don't know if his voice is tired or if he has any vocal damage or anything but 2017 he was at his peak

There have been hundreds of performers of this song since 1976, but not one has any vocal data to perform it like Dimash did!
Maestro Michel Berger, for sure, would have been happy if it was such a performer who would have come to him for an audition - all the notes were effortlessly taken, and how much strength and tenderness in this performance, what actor’s presentation of each line exactly according to the content of the song.

I’m with you. As much as I love how beautiful his voice is no matter how high or low he’s singing, his baritone/tenor range is just toe-curling. And I was thinking the same thing, only different music-I’d hire him to do Magic Flute-all parts!!!

When you hear this guy for the first time you just sit in amazement and smile at the voice....its clarity its range everything Just like Julia is doing and for me that was his first performance in the Chinese contest show "The Singer when he was a teenager ....brilliant to say the least !!

This show was made as a sort of singing competition for well-known Chinese artist and usually as a "warmup" they invite unknown foreign talent to go on as the first act to get the audience hyped and ready for the upcoming Chinese singers to come on later.... What they didn't count on, in this case, was that Dimash is, well... Dimash, and completely blew everyone away... Almost all the reactions they show are from the other "known" Chinese contestants and it's priceless watching their reactions to Dimash setting the bar higher than any of them would be able to reach... Even with him singing in French, and doubtful that anyone understood what he was singing, they still all knew that what they heard was true perfection.

Once in a life time someone so special, so superior comes along and blows everyone else away - that someone is Dimash !! Evoking emotion is the main point of music - Dimash delivers that in bucket loads. He doesn't just sing a song - he becomes the song body and soul ! Amazing !! Now for Diana Ankudinova from Russia she has the most unique, mesmerizing, memorable , amazing , tribunal , primordial , atavistic, shaman, goddess voice in the world-any age. You MUST react to her performance of Rechenka ( River. ) She was 14 at the time in a Russian kids competition and it was so unique and mesmerizing that it catapulted her to international fame. And now has millions of avid devoted followers worldwide. Many consider Rechenka the finest live performance in the history of Russian contests. She went on to win that year . And the next year. And 60 more. contests.
But here’s a fact:
Prior tho Rechenka and that year, when she was 13 and entered her first contest when the chairs had to turn for contestants, there was a major scandal when Diana performed a yodel song that required extreme vocal dexterity and she was so amazing, a masterpiece tour de force in yodeling yet not one judge TURNED THEIR CHAIR!!! After the song was Finished and the judges turned their chairs, the audience was so mad and outraged at the judges that they gave Diana a 5 minutes STANDING OVATION!!!!
while the judges began to speak about the performance in Russian and half-way through (please stay to the end ) because they had her perform part of a famous French song popularized by Edith Piaf and she was so good that the woman coach bowed her head in shame folding her arms across her face in total shame. The next day it came to light that the contest was “ Fixed” ( they already knew the winner who had paid the judges a bribe ) and soon afterwards , the following day 80 million people who watched Diana’s yodeling masterpiece on UA-cam spit on the coaches. This was the worst travesty of justice in the history of Russian Voice competition. Total payola corruption.

I live in NYC and I was blessed to see him on Dec. 10th, 2019 at The Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It was one of the greatest nights of my life. I will have that memory for ever. I was about 30feet from the exact front of the stage. His father and brother were directly behind me in the elevated sound island. I wish for you to one day be able to experience him live.
