Hi am thinking of buying a 21.7 , it looks like a good boat , it has no engine so what would you buy if you start from new? And how fast does it cruise on engine power please. Thanks
Do you use your second reef ? i have a first 211 since five years i have never use the second reef, only first reef in 20knt. but i have never afront 30 knt :-)
I just saw your comment, sorry, Roland. Second reef probably wouldn't help because I was alone. By my experience in 30 knots you need at least crew of 3 to prevent boat heeling too much in this point of sailing I'll pay attention in the future and make table how many people and which reef are required for different wind speeds
Good eye for details, Lucas! I think I used engine that time since engine was in the sea and due to speed (6.2 knots using only part of jib upwind is not possible without engine). I'm quite sure that I didn't use main sail because I was shorthanded and didn't have "single line reffing" system at that moment. Probably reffing would work cause of too much wind and too few crew weight 😀 Engine was/is Tohatsu 5HP, 4 stroke, long shaft

Engine type and power depends on your needs. Will you sail long passages or in strong current/winds/waves or just out of marina and back?
