You're waaayyy better off setting it up in a garage (yours or friend's), or even a storage unit. Set it on some nice stands off the ground and get to wrenching bro. Don't be scared to learn as you go! Just take it apart and replace/fix anything that's wrong with it! It is actually easier than it seems!!! Worst case scenario, you can just swap the engine for a good one, leave your original engine somewhere and fully build it...1 day at a time brother, take it easy! Once you get her back on the road, the feeling you will have is indescribable!
I took 2 months re-building my ZX9R and it's sooooo much better now BECAUSE I BUILT IT. I had 0 (ZERO) experience working on bikes when I started! Now I know my bike inside out and it's the best thing ever for a rider to understand their bike mechanically. It literally makes you a better rider overall.
bro whatever happens don't give up riding, my first bike in 07 was a GSXR 600 I went down and snapped the shifter peg and rode it home 30 miles having to pin the shifter with my foot to shift and using my hand to down shift. The next day I got parts to fix it and when I got back on that situation made me fearless. Starting having the balls to wheelie and do little endos. Ended up trading the gixxer in for an 06 R1 Raven like yours and had it until 22' sold it for a couple g's and just bought a 24' R1M. Point is don't stop riding cuz you went down its part of life, you just gotta go through the suck bro its life. Im glad your in one piece and still breathing it could be so much worse!
Everything happens for a reason. You might have had a serious accident coming up this season, and this little mishap just made sure you wouldn't be out riding that day. Take it and be thankful, cuz you just wrecked an R1 and made it out with a sprained pinky. 👍
I've never seen an insurance company not total a bike with scratches on the frame. I had a nick the size of a grain of rice on my frame and they totaled my rsv4 factory
Pretty sure they did and we never got an update. Found his exact bike with identical case cover damage on Copart and it's scheduled to go on auction in 1 day and 16 hours. Shame honestly as there's literally nothing wrong with it that's hard at all to fix. 1-6 months is a joke.
You live and you learn, is the theme of life. Keep your head up homie. You are handling the situation with grace and composure. At the end of the day do what you think is best for your situation. Sometimes we need to be humbled to come back better than before.
I think you need to maybe step back until you have a full assessment of what is going on.. that cover and a gasket are not a big deal at all. Next time have some engine guards as well. I just got a '24 R1 myself and I would be devastated if I laid it down so I feel your pain man. I got a rock chip up front with about 450 miles on the odo and I am irritated about it. If it does by chance end up a loss, lmk if you want to get rid of that SC project!
Isnt it normal that the Bike burns Oil for a short time once it laid on the side? Had that with mine, too. It was gone after a minute and went just fine afterwards.
Not sure how long you let it run for but I would let it run for like 20 minutes and see if it’s still doing that, when it’s on its side it’s possible the oil got past the piston rings because gravity
Bro don’t quit riding get a SuperDuke or a cheaper fun bike man you don’t have to spend $20k for a bike. 10k can get you a SICK and FUN bike and you’d still have 10k left over to put down on a house.

Also unless the block or head itself is cracked then replacing a cover and gasket would take like 20 minutes.

@@maxboydlifts that’s the spirit my boy
You can get a bike to ride around for $3500. I rode one for $7k miles. Started every single time and people loved it.

Sucks bro. I crashed my Kawasaki after my first month of ownership. I’d say fuck it and get another bike, riding is pure pleasure
Sell me ur exhaust. Need it for my 2020 r1
Based on
it looks like just the cover and gasket failed, there is no way this is a write off.
