CORRECTION: There’s incredible power to data in the hands of companies operating at immense scale.
It’s why there’s now a movement to limit this,
why companies like Digi.me, who I’ve previously mistaken for a data collection company, actually let users manage and safeguard their
information.

Bing is laughed at but it’s actually a profitable product, which demonstrates the power of the control tech companies can have.

Correction: At 6:53 I incorrectly mention Digi.me as a service you can sell your data to for use by third parties. They are not an example of such a service. Instead, they offer the ability to see and manage data already stored by third parties. Apologies for the mistake.
Yeah, opened them straight away and they didn't seem to be that type of service :/ . Anyway, just to be fair, AMP sites are a lot lighter typically then the original sites as the (very well written, and well optimized) AMP libraries themselves (which you described as garbage) are most likely already cached on the users PC/phone from the first time they opened an AMP sites. And beyond that: yes, AMP news articles end up in the carousel which doesn't allow (I believe) non AMP sites (might be mistaken), but as far as normal ranking goes AMP sites don't get ranked higher, the AMP-boost is caused by higher pagespeed and load time rankings (which a technical programmer can achieve without AMP as well, AMP just makes it simpler for less capable programmers).
What would be an example????
Aha I downloaded the app straight away and was kinda disappointed :D

We use bing at school, because sometimes google decides to give us captcha, because it thinks we are bots (a lot of student googling).
Son Gokuu we use a modified version of windows, where you can log into the school servers and upon login, you can see that registry entries are overtaken from your account (if it‘s a student account, the server will give your PC the specific rights, so you can‘t do bad stuff). I think Chrome wants to be installed into Program files and that is an important folder for the PC, so the registry is modified so you can‘t delete or add anything there; at our school you must login via an admin account, or via the local account which has all permission. You might have a local administrator, try to install Chrome into the documents folder or something or just download the exe.

I don't have Facebook. 😐
We'll very likely get to a point where Google gets into trouble with their search engine. It's getting increasingly difficult to search for certain things. For example, when you search for a manufacturer, in certain cases, it can actually be really difficult to google for the manufacturer's website, unless that manufacturer pays Google to promote their website in searches - simply because results from online shops will be forwarded to the top. A real world example - when searching for the discounts at a local store, google will forward sites which list discounts of multiple different stores and display a ton of ads, and the website of the actual store is almost at the end of the first page of search results. What's worse, Google no longer marks forwarded searches as advertisement and without making it apparent, they'll cover more than 60% of the page with what are essentially ads.

Bing and Internet Explorer get a huge amount of their use from government and corporate computers. There are often limits to what individual users are allowed to download (especially on classified computers), and often employees just don't care to, even if they are allowed, since it's just their work computer anyway.

duck duck go is trash google uses an advanced machine learning algorithm it does not censor data this is a made a conspiracy theory by people from duck duck go they are probably the ones that would manipulate search results
@@moderizhaan9497 Not true, google is definitely censoring results in certain countries. Like for example a ton of non-childfriendy sites or warez pages get left out of the search results in germany. Not because of DMCAs, but because official bodies of the country declared it illegal. They also display legal warnings at the top when searching for specific terms. Even when you simply want to look up information on a matter, they already treat you like a potential criminal.
I use duck duck go for porn
@@LucyKosaki ever heard of safesearch in google you can turn it off to view non-childfriendly sites as for other countries it's their fault if google did not implement this system google would get banned from the country like they got banned in china you can always bypass this by using VPN.

i actually like bing for its image search, Microsoft's algorithm is actually more accurate than Google's for some reason. Try going to both websites and searching 'person riding bike while holding banana' or something to that affect and you will likely get more concise searches from Bing.
Edit: Also for what its worth Bing/Microsoft haven't removed the 'view image' button, 'search by image' button and other essential functions from their search engine
Eh, Bing is too minimalistic for my taste
Fruit500 seriously? The site featuring daily professional pictures as the background is more minimalistic than the site with literally just the word Google on it?
+Faris Firdaws Front page is just one part of the browsing experience. Layout, fonts, icon styles etc. are what makes Bing inferior (for me). It just looks too clean and empty, but that might probably be just because my Google view is heavily customized
+Fruit500 personally i'd rather neglect any aesthetic design choices in favor of the results I'm looking for
+AL3X2580 I mean sure, but for me at least Google shows every search well enough. But then again, I haven't really used Bing that much so I don't really know how well it compares
Unlike Goolag, the BING app doesn't pester me everytime to click on pictures of stairs and store fronts. I give it two thumbs up!

The transition to the advert... best I've ever witnessed D:
"best"
I use Bing. And the new Microsoft Edge based on Chromium (which allows you to install any Chrome extension from the Chrome store). They're great! It's not just for people too lazy to switch their default search engine.
The fact of the matter is, I use way more Microsoft services than I do Google services. I'm a Junior Software Engineer, and I use:
* MS Office for anything office-related (much better than G-Suite)
* OneDrive for cloud storage (much better than Google Drive)
* Outlook for my email (I like it better than Gmail, and I definitely like Outlook's calendar better than Google Calendar)
* Microsoft Azure and the .NET Core for development (not saying I exclusively use these - I use Google's and Amazon's developer technologies as well)
* Microsoft ToDo for managing my tasks
* Powershell as my default terminal - none of that Cygwin crap (you can also download Ubuntu from the Windows store and use it without requiring a virtual machine)
So I use way more Microsoft services than Google. Now, why would I use Google's browser and search engine when the new Edge and Bing are indistinguishable in quality?
And I think it's important to look at what kinds of companies Google and Microsoft are. Google is an **advertisement-focused company**. Microsoft is **an enterprise-focused company**. Which company sounds more appealing to me?
Microsoft is also the biggest contributor to open source. Don't listen to the people who try to tell you Microsoft is bad. All kinds of software companies use Microsoft's services, and if you have it in your head that Microsoft is bad, those companies will be less likely to hire you. But that's just my opinion.
TL;DR - Microsoft is pretty cool. Don't listen to the haters.
