- This is my playthrough of the fifth mission from the Joan of Arc campaign in Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition. I'll be placing time stamps for each part of the scenario in the comments section for those looking for a specific part. Enjoy!
Joan of Arc Mission 5 takes a lot of careful planning. I definitely had to retry this scenario quite a few times before I got the strategy right! The idea was to take the shortest route through the city and lose as few units as possible to sacrifice them at the end. Also be careful right at the end, as I made it to the finishing area but Joan died as she got there, and as such I lost the scenario. Stay tuned for the rest of my Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition Hard Playthrough!
The story of Joan of Arc is awe-inspiring to me, and as such it is one of my favourite campaigns. Some of the missions on hard mode are a little bit on the exhausting side, but rewarding once completed!

You took your entire army to the right side! What an amazing idea!
That approach saves a lot of headache and units. I went via the center double gates and gazzilion longbows!!
Longbows are one of my favoritest units ever in the game. But when u r in the receiving end, its soooo annoying!!
And then once u cross Paris so battle weary, you think its over and then u face the gigantic Purple army. Fuck. That was most deflating feeling i have ever felt in AOE!
Amazing mission and you really felt as if you were in danger all the time.

Thank you! When I first played this mission I got to the end, Joan died as she reached the goal and I had to restart 😅
ShadowCrystallux ah that’s a tragic way to lose. All that time wasted. I can see why you’d want to save at those crucial moments.
Your approach is new. I usually go under Paris in the HD Edition...
I don't know which would be easier to be honest. I used to try brute force through the middle, never worked 😂
Unfortunately, the actual history of this is something a little different. The Siege of Paris failed not because reinforcements weren't sent, but the people inside Paris fiercely defended the city, as they thought that the newly crowned king was going to take away the freedoms they enjoyed from the English. Plus, in her trial, she had been goaded into laying siege to Paris by the nobles of France.
Hard play through is depressively hard, Period.
İt takes at least a hour for just a mission
even easy mode was already hard...FUCK!!!!
