As a Freight Damage Inspector (who, incidentally, has inspected items here in Hawaii in Estes behalf!) I'm a taken back a bit by that receiver's cavalier attitude about that punctured box. His examination wasn't nearly through enough and when they find out later that what's inside IS damaged, they make a claim, but they signed off on the bill, but they contest it, then I get sent out! My company does only inspections of damage in behalf of carriers. What you do with the webcam actually would be great, and help me on my job! Another great, informative video, Chuck!

Over the last two and a half years stuff is just damaged so much more than it used to be. I've had probably one damaged product per week come back for between $1k and $50k in emergency replacement. My incoming isn't much better, with up to 10% loss on incoming materials (thousands of dollars) due to damage in shipping. At this point it's sadly just become a routine occurrence.
Love my drivers though, some real characters in that mix.

@@fredo2x625 Yes. Safety sensitive positions require it. Be glad they still only do urinalysis. Hair test goes back up to 6 months. If you want this kind of job, stop using. If you want to use, even medically, you'll have to seek a different line of work until the Feds say ok. It's still illegal as far as they're concerned.

As a dock worker, we always understood the pressure that the truck drivers might be under, and would always ask if they needed us to take our break later if needed. Some would be very thankful, while others told us to take our time. We always made sure to have cold water, a clean bathroom, and a phone for them to use (back in the days before cell phones). It is amazing how much better service one got when treating people well.

Hey Chuck, Mike from Toledo (092)
Always interesting delivering damaged freight and all the different reactions from folks calling for an Exception # sometimes becomes Intense. I have some customers that always write " subject to inspection" and others that don't ever look at the delivery. Always an Adventure and even though we do the same job daily every day is different. Excellent Job on the videos!

Reason for that was leave a quarter on the seat and we will back it in for you . Lol was fun for us during the day . The guy with the most quarters would buy coffee at the stops coffee machines. Wow dating myself coffee was a quarter.

There's one thing i've been wondering. Do you not have side opening enclosed trailers over there? We love them here. You get all the benefits of an enclosed trailer and the flexibility of a curtain sider.
