Yes, as a teacher I would say it's vital to make sure that you target the right audience. I teach primary children in the UK, and every year group has very specific learning objectives in maths (and all subjects). As you mention, it's obviously the same in the States. I've seen resources from reputable companies that even get this wrong, lol.
It's not super hard if you have teaching or curriculum development background. And, in US, they don't really follow national standards to a T. The state can choose which areas they will cover on which grade and to which degree. One major publisher that states use is Go Math, and the Go Math books in New York will be different to a degree from Florida to California. You can be specific to which state curriculum you are following or look at several states and make a common list
Can I purchase any of the upsells for the Math Generator - after I purchased {from you} the Main one (+,-, /, x) ? If so, how much would the different upsells be? Thanks, Chris Kelly
Extremely interesting. I’m sill teaching secondary although way past the retirement age. I’ll be interested in my daughter’s view on maths niche. She teaches year 1 and 2.Btw, it seems as though the US grades seem to take priority over the little ‘ol UK? My view for young children is that they are some what overloaded, (maybe that’s the case with this niche), and finding the pages with the answers looks challenging. I think each task page should have the answers on the next page. But, hey, WHO AM I TO TELL BOOK DESIGNERS THIS?
You can do them at the bottom. Or explainers on next page. But on the back is a default. Ideally, you would include an index to that appendix. If you were Ina. Classroom, you know how kids use books.
I’m currently working on a book for this niche. As a therapist and specialist in early childhood education I cringed seeing the tons of “tracing” to learn to write books that are just thrown together mainly by people who have no clue what they’re doing. I’m almost done with the book, but I’m struggling with figuring out how to properly enter the niche as a professional who actually does this for a living with kids and now putting my strategies in workbook form to make sure it gets in front of the right audience.
I too, as a teacher, am horrified at the handwriting books out there. In one book recently it had 4 different fonts on the same page. The directions were tiny and in flowery handwriting script that no small child learning to write, could decipher or see. Just incredible what some put out as education. It worries me that people with no educational background can publish these books.
Exactly. I love kids, and recently I got in the kid's book area, before that I was just working on those time-wasting low and no content books. And now I have a clear vision to provide something valuable to those little humans. Haha Anyway, I was recently thinking about forming a small group of publishers, so we can use each other's suggestions, tips, and share ideas. I have graphics design skills and I would love to share my experience n all that stuff. What do you think?
hello i am new and just happened on your channel......i chose early education but a different nich mine is sight words but i believe simular opportunitys are there. basicly this is a thank you for your channel i appreciate your work product and the energy that goes into it.
Thank you for sharing. With 189 pages and a price of $5.20 - you aren't making any royalties? Is the plan to price it so low to undercut competitors, get sales and reviews and then slowly increase the price over time?
I love making educational books. They are very time consuming but if done well you can succeed. Unfortunately many have no idea what they are doing and push out books full of errors. One of my biggest KDP pet peeves lol
Great video! Thank you for the tip! This helped me a lot to narrow down my niche and to see that it will work.. and that it is a good niche after all.. 😅since I was a bit unsure about it
Do people really buy this type of set up for math books? I don't know what kid would sit there though that cluttered sheet of multiplication. I make math books but higher content and I this seems to be a "low content math book" i need to get into. But i doubt they would sell.
Hey Chris, love your vids, I'm just starting out on my book journey. Do you sell ebooks or is it just paperback actual you sell? How would ebooks do in these niches? Excited to see the software, well done you.
Please Chris, can you speak slowly in the explanation so that we can understand better I am a beginner in Kindle and even in English Thank you in advance my friend I wish you all the best and respect
I look forward to finding out about that software. Math is a tough niche to get into because it can be quite time consuming and hard. So software would definitely help with that I am sure. It is one of the subjects most struggled in at school and I think the subject people hire tutors for the most. I know I did for my kids. But get one thing wrong in the book and someones comments section might get a tremendous amount of bad reviews. So triple checking is important I would think. Thanks for the video and I will be tuning in on the 16th.
Yeah but that software is not ideal for that. It's like a thousand multiplication problems and 60 problems per sheet or more. A kid would get anxiety just looking at that.
Hi Chris :) Thank you for all the info you’re sharing - truly appreciated! I’ve signed the link for your free advertising course - but haven’t received anything. And yes - I have checked the spam folder…
hahah is that a non US thing? Why would you say you "can't imagine why anyone wants to buy summer math books." lol Here in the U.S. it is during downtime when parents try to keep their kiddos busy and learning during summer breaks, or we do catch-ups. It is also statistically proven that many kids fall behind during summer breaks as often they do nothing for over 2 months. so yes, we buy tons of "summer math books" especially to use on vacations. 😀 But it's cool you can say whatever.... twice...the accent is hawt 😉
Math Worksheets Generator is now available to purchase from the description!
I actually was thinking about this niche, since my son is homeschooled. Thank you so much for your video, now I am even more motivated.

Thanks for sharing. I used your link to Hand Drawn Mazes to include in my second puzzle book.
Can uploading low content booms on Amazon replace your job. I hate the job in at now. I would like to sell low content items as my full job.

Hey. I've got a few ebooks where it makes sense. Actually I am tempted to make an ebook version of these, I think that would work?
Great idea. But will it work?
