- The AT4 (also AT-4) is an 84-mm unguided, portable, single-shot recoilless smoothbore anti-tank weapon built in Sweden by Saab Bofors Dynamics (previously Bofors Anti-Armour Systems). Saab has had considerable sales success with the AT4, making it one of the most common light anti-tank weapons in the world.
The AT4 is intended to give infantry units a means to destroy or disable armoured vehicles and fortifications, although it is generally ineffective against current modern main battle tanks (MBT). The launcher and projectile are manufactured prepacked and issued as a single unit of ammunition, with the launcher discarded after a single use.

Pro tip: fire the launcher directly under your feet, and it will blast you into the air. This will allow for superior mobility over the battlefield.
yes but what good is mobility when ur a nugget

I remember doing this in '92 in BT at Ft. Leonardwood. I was a 3 out of 3 on the AT4. Good memories of when I was 19 training my best to become a soldier. Utah's Pioneer Day fireworks boom boom tonight got me all excited now wanting to shoot targets tonight, but not possible since indoor shooting range closed much earlier.
“If fighting is sure to result in victory then you must fight!”
Sun Tzu said that!
And I think he knows a little more about fighting than you do pal because HE INVENTED IT and then he perfected it so that no living man could beat him in the ring of honour! Hehehe and then he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth and then he herded them onto a boat and then he beat the crap out of every single one

Hard to imagine, but this 84 mm *shell* flies at the same speed of a Colt .45 ACP round fired out of any Thompson sub-machine gun (M1921 - M1) ~ 930 fps.

Thank you for uploading. I got the opportunity to see a rocket launch in 2018. Incredible experience. I posted a pretty cool video of the trip to my page.
This will only anger it at first, but if you can survive long enough to make several direct hits, you'll be rewarded with a prize worthy of any mantlepiece.
Now, who's going to be the lucky one to carry it into combat?
Ah, yes! Gordon Freeman!
I couldn't have asked for a finer volunteer!

Why is at4 launcher one time use?
You can buy these they just require an NFA stamp for AOW and wait a few months.
Why should a civilian own something like this?

@Weiss Schnee You never know
@@ynnadssom why shouldn’t a civilian own something like this
It’s a Destructive Device not an AOW. So it still requires the normal $200 tax stamp for a Title II weapon not the $5 AOW stamp.
Is the at4 and the javelin the main anti tank weapons in the us military?
Well
fun fact; 'AT-4' doesn't stand for anything. its name is a play on the 84mm bore diameter.
Eighty-Four = AT-4
Scary part is...they have them too.

The AT4 (also AT-4) is an 84-mm unguided, portable, single-shot recoilless smoothbore anti-tank weapon. It does not fire a rocket. It is not a rocket launcher.
This is where our tax money goes, firing shells that cost as much as rolex watches at the range lol.
It's rare to fire real AT4. There's training AT-4 that fires 5.56 round. I wish I had fired the real one though, but given training AT-4 in BT.

Indian Army recently placed an order for these
I don't know anything about that (not disagreeing, i simply don't know). I do however know that the US bought 600 000 of them between 1987 and 2017.
Not the best but possibly the best bang for the bucks. A tank is obviously more effective but isn't intended to be carried on the average grunts back 😉
1:11 looks like an Indian flag
Is this a one time use rpg or a reusable
These are single use once u shoot u throw it out

Single use recoilless rifle. 8500 a pop. They have a smooth bore as well.
@@MrMattydavee oh that’s nice
@@MrMattydavee
I don't know if there is any version that cost $8500 each. I do know that the basic version cost $1200-1600 (good enough to take out any armoured personal carrier but not a heavy tank.
The coolest version that is lightweight and have beyond armor (penetrates 17,5 inch armor before detonating) is about $3000-4000. No, not even this version would destroy a modern tank but the tank would likely require repairs after one hit in a weak point.
Against buildings and lightly armored vehicles at short distance, the AT4 is the most effective compared to the price. Against hevely armored structures and viecles at a distance, it's almost useless.
The German model goes into the tank and out the other side
The American one bounces off lol
It isnt American, its Swedish.
@@Coinz8 or German...
how is the weapon handling this bad?
Not sure what you mean.
It is basically a rifle that fires a granade.
There is several versions depending on your needs. The coolest version (according to me) is the HEAT version that penetrates 17,5 inch armor before detonating.
Agains active armor, it isn't very effective unless being used in numbers.
This video shows people using the weapon for the first time. As always, training and experience is needed to be effective.
The AT-4 isnt a rocket launcher....
I bet you won't

yeah, but it only comes with two rounds and extra rounds are expensive af.
Enemy tank 150 meters !!!
Enemy tank : why I am hearing funeral music ???
Ever heard of Active protection system ?
The AT4 isn't intended to be used against modern tanks.
One perfect hit is unlikely to stop a modern tank but two hits might make it needing emergency repair (MIGHT).
The AT4 is cheap and simple to use and is hence easy to make effective by the average grunt.
It isn't the best but it's a big bang for the price and training needed.
Literally one of the easiest light armor weapons to use.
RPG is even more easier to use.
@@sys3248 I wouldn't agree with that statement...and I've used both.

$5,000 per round 😉, not quite as bad as the dragon I fired at a live fire once which was about $15,000 . That was like 1999, I bet they cost double that now especially for the dragon since the wire is gold
It's "only" around $1,500 a pop according to the Federation of American Scientists. And I believe some of them, e.g. at 3:58, have the reusable practice launcher, which fires a tracer cartridge.

Yeah man....horrible that high costs how stupid. ....I bet the Chinese have one that is 1 - 10 th the price. Chinese will take over. . .slowly and steadily.
@@Designer_TopG YEah 1-10th the price but what is the quality of the weapon?
This is a single-use weapon that cannot be reloaded, after it is fired, it must then be discarded.
which makes it weird seeing some of them showing wear and tear. But I guess those are dummy (or old used ones) launchers. Or shooting 9mm for practice.
1:27 that's neat their was a lil flame that appear above the dude head who is crouching after it was fired
Skadoosh
1:28 that recoil control is absolutely crazy
do you not see the hole in the back...
BACKBLAST AREA CLEAR
Carl & Panzerfaust is better, you can reload it in the field,
the point of the at-4 is for it to be disposable tho
I took out my ear protection in basic training to hear this piece of ear porn in person. "Backlast area clear!"
But why, why would you do that, so you not like your eardrums?
@@Ares-vu4kd Lol I was pretty far away. Looking back it probably wasn't the best idea (it was about 15 years ago) but man was it awesome!
The AT4 may be used against targets as close as 20 meters away if being desperate. It would likely make you lose your eyebrows and eardrums even with protection and is hence not practiced in training 🙄
50 meter!
Me: whatever I want go to Iraq, 50km to hell
How do they aim it? What kind of sight do they use?
Rear apature, front post.. "just like an M4"... around the 3-4minute mark, an instructor is explaining the sights to a user.

Sounds like a fascist comment.
The launcher can be rebuilt and reused, although not always done.
Yes they are fun to fire
One shot from this will send the turret of any Russian T-## tank flying 1,000 feet into the air.
No. Infact, it wouldn't even scratch the paint. It can only knock the tracks off MAYBE
@@EmperorDionx lol delusional
@@EmperorDionx обиженный руzкий
Can buy one?:-) I heard they only 1400usd each😁
An empty launcher tube maybe...
Loaded units start at 5-6k and only go up from there, depending how badly you want one.
This is essentially an RPG; it's for things like Humvees or armored personnel carriers at most. There's no point shooting it at tanks.
You might destroy some of the tanks sensors or a track. It wont destroy a modern tank or injure the crew but it might lower the effectiveness significantly.
According to the manufacturer, it (statistically) takes two perfect hits to stop a tank. That (still statistics) means that you have to shoot 20 shots at each tank unless you're close enough to risk being flattened by the tracks. In actual war, it might be used against targets between 20 and 500 meters away if needed (you might lose your eyebrows at 20m).
The reason that it's still in use is the portability, price and simplicity.
I saw in a Swedish article from 2017 that the US bought 600 000 AT4 since 1987.
It's not the best but it is loads of bang for the bucks.
Sweden sent 5000 AT4 to Ukraine. According to Swedish experts, it might be enough to force 250 tanks into the garage for repairs. Using them against lightly armed equipment is however recommended if you have a choice.
@@boek2777 Facts.
@@boek2777 no sense wasting AT4 on tank and alert your position. Plenty of tiger (Russian Humvee), APC, IFC like BMPs, and supply trucks for AT4.
@@Joseph-eh4rs I basically agree.
If you have a choice of targets, you should obviously go for that which might be scraped after an successful attack (friendly wording).
You can technically destroy a tank by throwing bricks on it but it isn't effective (takes thousands of people throwing millions of bricks!?!).
I have however never been in anything similar to the Uranian situation but have a strong feeling that i would shoot at the first enemy i see (if I'm alone without backup). Moral is extremely important in this situation.
I believe that I'm reasonably logic BUT believe that i would shoot at the greatest threat that i have a chance to make less dangerous.
Reality is nothing compared to feelings.
If corpses could talk, plenty of Ruzz tankers in Ukraine would tell you otherwise. The 84mm is enough to go thru the rear, cause a mobility kill, or if the operator has the angle send it thru the turret roof. No, it is not the ideal infantry vs tank weapon, but it's not like shooting a rifle at one.
