- In this video I use the Akai Force Step Sequencer ( amzn.to/2ULFEeu ) to program a drum beat from a drum program track within the Akai Force.

Nice. Thanks for going into detail. It makes a world of difference to get a feel of the real-time workflow instead of the standard "It's so cool, it does this, It does that, the end" advertisement
I would have liked to see if you could record from the pads also i'm curious about the swing can it do off the grid beats without quantize?
The Beast is in my car, just got it :) will enjoy your vids until Friday work day is over :)
Most excellent
Can you pitch individual samples up and down and play them across the keyboard (with or without the sample speeding up/slowing down)? Can you hold a chosen step and transpose it or shift it left and right off the grid for groove? Also can you record chords from a midi keyboard into the Force?
Damn that’s dope
Hey which video of yours can show me how to pitch drums like 808s or hi hats
Can I buy a usb drive from you with nothing but offical mpc sound packs to upload to my mpc live ? If so please lmk thanks
does it have some kind of a tuner so it shows the tone hight of the drum sample? example C2 or D2
Unfortunately it does not.
Have you tried Polyend Tracker? How does it compare to Force? Kinda bouncing back n forth on grabbing one of the two. Granted the Force destroys the Tracker on track count but since I tend to use only 8-12 tracks on most songs it’s not that big a deal
Thanks man
can you send and receive midi though the usb? This would be useful when working with external midi gear
you can use a midi keyboard usb midi. Haven't tried mapping encoders yet, but the keys work.
I'm new to this, and was just wondering how you made those rolls spontaneously?
Is there a way to edit the velocity while step sequencing on a single hit - in Ableton, you can do directly from the push; looking for same function on force.
Also, could you do a tutorial on taking waves from external drive and creating and saving the samples into different drum tracks for sequencing on the force?
You can use the step sequencer in the menu to change velocity on a sing hit. You can use the event edit feature to change velocity on a single it. Or when you are programming the beat you can change the velocity with the 16 pads to the right of the 16 drum pads.
Matthew Stratton thank you! My kids and I enjoy the videos and are learning the device through them and experimenting
What is the max. steps / bars per pattern / clip ?
can you use the step sequencer to play sounds, or is it just for drums?
I pushed step sequencer on a synth plug in track and it showed up. Haven't explored it much yet.
How can you change the pitch per step?
Your tutorial are just great! Question is, for mpcx users the Force machine it’s an add on to work together with or do they just do the same thing (aside clip launching) but in a different manner? Bottom line, shall I buy this machine or not?
According to some Info that's floating around, integration with MPC's is coming later. They'll sync up now but that's just transmitting timecode. I hope deeper integration comes quicker than later because I'll find it harder and harder to keep the X and the Force.
Thanks dude. So the answer i guess is wait and see. Now the question is if you are really in the position to get rid of one of the two which one will be??? I have the feeling you’ll say the force;)
@@dcosta7120 I just got mine yesterday so it's too early to tell but unless Akai comes out and says we'll never integrate the 2 I'm not even considering it. I go back and forth between using Maschine/Jam combi and the X. If the Force integrates like the NI combo it will be GOD MODE. If I absolutely had to choose between X and Force, Id lose the X because the Force looks and feels 2 generations ahead of the X software wise.
I wish you could show me how to use the thing
Yeah!! Perfect demo! 🔥🔥 Yeah I love being able to go back and forth between finger drumming and the step sequencer when building a clip.
Nice but why would I built all my drums in one track if i cant mute them easily?
What about note nudge, note repeat, copy/paste of notes, copy/paste of measures within a sequence to a new bar, copy/paste clips? shuffle settings, global sequencer settings? This sequencer overview doesn't have much info.
Correct. There is much more to cover. This overview is limited. Most of those features your are asking for are outside of the scope of the sequencer and are more related to the clip event editor/grid editor and matrix mode. I will do more detailed videos in the future.
@@MatthewStratton Note nudge, repeat, copy /paste (of note) and shuffle/swing certainly should be part of a "step sequencer".
These items are a part of the Force but are not all located in the "step sequencer". For example the note repeat function is located in the "arpaggiator". There is a duplicate button at the bottom of the Force to duplicate measures. You can copy and paste multiple events but within the clip "grid editor." You can copy clips but within the "matrix mode". I have more videos planned to feature those items. I do want to do an updated video. Until then the manual is available for download on akai pro website. Thanks for your comment.
man your really crankin em out!
HAHA, Yeah. I'm having fun.
cool.. keep it on the 5 and 13!
Apc40 mk2 please.
Can you use Komplete Kontrol with Force? I would like to know 🙂 Great video btw
The encoders on the controller or the software? You can use midi controller with midi 5 pin and usb controller. Haven't Mapped encoders yet.
@@MatthewStrattonYeah with the encoders I mean. I wonder if you can use the full potential with the midi. Are there limits? But also if the software can be used via midi in the force to make new tracks. I hope you show a video between Komplete Kontrol and the Force some day 🙂 Thanks
instrument Layer 4 is 👍
Sixteen pads x 4 👍
Sr,
How many number of "drum Banks",and drum programs (pgm) ?🤔
8 banks of 16 per drum program. Banks are named A through H. There are 128 pads per drum program.
@@MatthewStratton wow..👍thank you dear🙏🙏
Looks like you are having fun!!! And that’s the most beautiful thing
For sure!
So clips are patterns basically right🤷🏾♂️
Yes. .mpcpatterns are basically clips. You can load .mpcpatterns into clips.
Getting it.
Cheers Mr :) very informative
Thanks. Going to provide morr information as I continue to dig deeper into the device.
I am very grateful for your efforts it’s very helpful indeed :)
Be more sparse with that cowboy aJaJght (allright), but thanks for the vid
Thanks for u vidéos . But , please, speak slowly . Because your job is on an international diffusion , and it's difficult for the subtiles algorithmes 😉😁 ( in french for me) but thanks for u job really
RADICAL
Unbelievable boring. 16 minutes and almost 0 informations.
puh... he could have shown all in 1 minute. Everybody used a step sequencer before get's this within seconds
Damn man I totally agree. Waiting for something to happen but nothing
Just awful, sorry
Keep up the good work!
