- In this video, we explore the powerful Pad Scene and Parameters knob modes. You can use these modes to help you shape the sound of your drum kits, and also use them as performance controls. They're really simple both to use and customize, and in many cases can be the quickest way to set some performance controls up.
Oh wow. Mute in pad parameter would be super useful. Thanks for sharing this, Joe!
Joe, you have to know that all your efforts digging into the Force where you find “undocumented features” helps us tremendously. Up to this day, I still do believe that this is an underrated device. I love mine, and with all of your discoveries, I like it even more day after day. Thank you so much for such great content and this quality UA-cam channel. All the best!
Thanks much Jean-Mi! I agree. Unless you’ve owned a Force, you probably just have no idea all the things you can do with it. I’m not sure it really fully comes across in Akai’s marketing.
Many thanks for your explanations! 👌🏼
That was great as always Joe. Thanks 🎧
Good job man really useful trick to spice loops
There's no end to the little things to learn on the Force.
I think you’re right. I still find little things that surprise me even after having one for several years.
One of the Iconic machines Akai has made since the Akai MPC 3000
Hey djtomswift808 - totally agree! I personally think it’s the best thing they’ve ever made. In fairness though, I never owned an MPC 3000.
Excellent! Thank you very much!
Hi Marcus - thanks for watching and glad it was helpful!
Thanks for that!
This is super useful!! Thanks so much.
Hey @falazarte, glad it was helpful and thanks for watching!
Thanks, great tips and I love your demo style, clear and consistent and followable
Hey @spikemoss, thanks for watching and the compliment!
Sweet! Can't wait to watch this later today
Wow this tutorial is awesome.
Thanks for watching, and glad you liked it!
Great video. Thanks
Hey B.Stro.Beatz DJ Plan B - thanks for watching - glad you liked it!
Another brilliant video 😎
Thanks zool hert!
These are great features that makes the Force so powerful. FYI I think you can use MIDI learn to add parameters, which makes it less tedious. Currently you & Crates Motel (Conan) are the best for deeper tips on Force. Thanks!
Hey Poetic Noise - yep, the learn feature should work there too. Sometimes I just find it easier to use the menus (and sometimes not). I wasn’t aware of Crates Motel but that’s a cool channel. He seems to be coming at the MPC from a different perspective and background than mine, so I’ll be checking out more of his videos myself!
Bedankt
Great one, mate
Thanks Leigh!
hey Joe I'm wondering if that toggle mute works better in your eyes than the mute buttons below on the track selectors which I think kind of slur in and out and aren't very effective at muting or clean muting if you know what I mean.
Thench yu❤
You’re welcome!
You can also rename the macro when it has multiple parameters mapped to a single knob. Just click the keyboard icon to the right of where it says macro in the edit macro page.
Great tip Nick! I personally haven’t found much reason to use macros in these modes. They’re awesome in the project and track modes though. For Pad Scene/Parameter ,there may be some macro that makes sense but just haven’t thought of it yet. :)
Hey Joe, I love your videos. On my Force, I often hit the 8 plugins limit. I struggle with resampling my plugins to a keygroup or audiotrack, especially with long releases. Could you please do a video on how to resample/bounce like a joe… eh… like a pro. Or do you happen to have covered the topic and I was not able to find it yet?
Hey Cupiii - I haven’t made a video about that. Although that would probably be a good one. I see this question come up pretty often on forums and Facebook. I’ll put it on my idea list!
DrumFX as part scene, great idea. Need also one for sample layer 1 level, then bitcrusher 12 bit, softclipper and boom, we get a hard hitter monster!
Great ideas! I’m going to try exactly those in the scene!
@Joe Filbrun Hi pass filter w a resonance in low frequencies for even more wild things. Tried it today pretty successfully.
when i program a mute cc to the pad grid and i want that to toggle it doesnt toggle. i have to hold the pad to mute. thats very annoying.
How can we meet up and work on some tracks ?
this is the first video on pads but i wish someone would explain the pads in every mode how do i know where notes like middle C is ? i use it with my midi but the layout of pads for notes octaves sharps i see videos with with people using modes other than the record to make tracks i don't understand why the heck no one explains the pads?
Hey B Bradford - thanks for the video idea. It’s kind of hard for me to gauge what people already know and don’t know. So your feedback helps!
Great content as always. I've never used these but I will now! It's much simpler than I assumed 😂
Ps: I think your left and right channels might be reversed.
I notice that too. I had to check my headphones. It didn't take away from the demo so w/e.
Thanks vertigev! Haha, yeah good catch. I forgot to check the channels when I hooked it back up. I did notice when I was editing but figured it wasn’t worth re-recording.
Definitely not worth re-recording, I only mentioned it for the next video 😊
Akai should fix the toggle bug.
Yep. Not sure if they’re aware of it. I’ll report it.
